Visible‐light‐driven plasmonic photocatalyst Ag‐TiO2 nanocomposite hollow spheres are prepared by a template‐free chemically‐induced self‐transformation strategy under microwave‐hydrothermal conditions, followed by a photochemical reduction process under xenon lamp irradiation. The prepared samples are characterized by using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, N2 adsorption‐desorption isotherms, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV/Vis and Raman spectroscopy. Production of ?OH radicals on the surface of visible‐light illuminated TiO2 was detected by using a photoluminescence method with terephthalic acid as the probe molecule. The photocatalytic activity of as‐prepared samples was evaluated by photocatalytic decolorization of Rhodamine B (RhB) aqueous solution at ambient temperature under visible‐light irradiation. The results show that the surface plasmon absorption band of the silver nanoparticles supported on the TiO2 hollow spheres was red shifted, and a strong surface enhanced Raman scattering effect for the Ag‐TiO2 nanocomposite sample was observed. The prepared nanocomposite hollow spheres exhibits a highly visible‐light photocatalytic activity for photocatalytic degradation of RhB in water, and their photocatalytic activity is higher than that of pure TiO2 and commercial Degussa P25 (P25) powders. Especially, the as‐prepared Ag‐TiO2 nanocomposite hollow spheres at the nominal atomic ratio of silver to titanium ( R ) of 2 showed the highest photocatalytic activity, which exceeds that of P25 by a factor of more than 2.  相似文献

Nanocomposites of Ag/TiO2 nanowires with enhanced photoelectrochemical performance have been prepared by a facile solvothermal synthesis of TiO2 nanowires and subsequent photoreduction of Ag+ ions to Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the TiO2 nanowires. The as‐prepared nanocomposites exhibited significantly improved cathodic photocurrent responses under visible‐light illumination, which is attributed to the local electric field enhancement of plasmon resonance effect near the TiO2 surface rather than by the direct transfer of charge between the two materials. The visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic performance of these nanocomposites in the degradation of methylene blue dye was also studied, and the observed improvement in photocatalytic activity is associated with the extended light absorption range and efficient charge separation due to surface plasmon resonance effect of AgNPs.  相似文献

The development of visible‐light‐active photocatalysts is being investigated through various approaches. In this study, C60‐based sensitized photocatalysis that works through the charge transfer (CT) mechanism is proposed and tested as a new approach. By employing the water‐soluble fullerol (C60(OH)x) instead of C60, we demonstrate that the adsorbed fullerol activates TiO2 under visible‐light irradiation through the “surface–complex CT” mechanism, which is largely absent in the C60/TiO2 system. Although fullerene and its derivatives have often been utilized in TiO2‐based photochemical conversion systems as an electron transfer relay, their successful photocatalytic application as a visible‐light sensitizer of TiO2 is not well established. Fullerol/TiO2 exhibits marked visible photocatalytic activity not only for the redox conversion of 4‐chlorophenol, I?, and CrVI, but also for H2 production. The photoelectrode of fullerol/TiO2 also generates an enhanced anodic photocurrent under visible light as compared with the electrodes of bare TiO2 and C60/TiO2, which confirms that the visible‐light‐induced electron transfer from fullerol to TiO2 is particularly enhanced. The surface complexation of fullerol/TiO2 induced a visible absorption band around 400–500 nm, which was extinguished when the adsorption of fullerol was inhibited by fluorination of the surface of TiO2. The transient absorption spectroscopic measurement gave an absorption spectrum ascribed to fullerol radical cations (fullerol.+) the generation of which should be accompanied by the proposed CT. The theoretical calculation regarding the absorption spectra for the (TiO2 cluster+fullerol) model also confirmed the proposed CT, which involves excitation from HOMO (fullerol) to LUMO (TiO2 cluster) as the origin of the visible‐light absorption.  相似文献

Hierarchical macro‐/mesoporous N‐doped TiO2/graphene oxide (N‐TiO2/GO) composites were prepared without using templates by the simple dropwise addition mixed solution of tetrabutyl titanate and ethanol containg graphene oxide (GO) to the ammonia solution, and then calcined at 350 °C. The as‐prepared samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller (BET) surface area, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV‐Vis absorption spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange in an aqueous solution under visible‐light irradiation. The results show that N‐TiO2/GO composites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity. GO content exhibited an obvious influence on photocatalytic performance, and the optimal GO addition content was 1 wt%. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to the synergetic effects of three factors including the improved visible light absorption, the hierarchical macro‐mesoporous structure, and the efficient charge separation by GO.  相似文献

An Au/TiO2 nanostructure was constructed to obtain a highly efficient visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst. The design was based on a three‐dimensional ordered assembly of thin‐shell Au/TiO2 hollow nanospheres (Au/TiO2‐3 DHNSs). The designed photocatalysts exhibit not only a very high surface area but also photonic behavior and multiple light scattering, which significantly enhances visible‐light absorption. Thus Au/TiO2‐3 DHNSs exhibit a visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic activity that is several times higher than conventional Au/TiO2 nanopowders.  相似文献

The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles (nano‐TiO2) and its hybrid with SiO2 (nano‐TiO2–SiO2) for degradation of some organic dyes on cementitious materials was studied in this work. Nanohybrid photocatalysts were prepared using an inorganic sol–gel precursor and then characterized using XRD, SEM and UV–Vis. The grain sizes were estimated by Scherrer's equation to be around 10 nm. Then, a thin layer was applied to Portland cement concrete (PCC) blocks by dipping them into nano‐TiO2 and nano‐TiO2–SiO2 solution. The efficiency of coated PCC blocks for the photocatalytic decomposition of two dyes, Malachite Green oxalate (MG) and Methylene Blue (MB), was examined under UV and visible irradiation and then monitored by the chemical oxygen demand tests. The results showed that more than 80% and 92% of MG and MB were decomposed under UV–Vis irradiation using blocks coated with nano‐TiO2–SiO2. TiO2/PCC and TiO2–SiO2/PCC blocks showed a significant ability to oxidize dyes under visible and UV lights and TiO2–SiO2/PCC blocks require less time for dye degradation. Based on these results, coated blocks have increased photocatalytic activity which can make them commercially accessible photocatalysts.  相似文献

Visible‐light‐driven Ag/AgBr/TiO2/activated carbon (AC) composite was prepared by solgel method coupled with photoreduction method. For comparison, TiO2, TiO2/AC, and Ag/AgBr/TiO2 were also synthesized. Their characteristics were analyzed by XRD, SEM‐EDS, TG‐DSC and UV–vis techniques. Photocatalytic activity and antibacterial performance under visible‐light irradiation were investigated by ICP‐AES, ATR‐FT‐IR and spectrophotometry methods using methylene blue and Escherichia coli as target systems, respectively. The results showed that Ag/AgBr was successfully deposited on anatase TiO2/AC surface, and exhibited a distinct light absorption in the visible region. Ag/AgBr/TiO2/AC displayed excellent antibacterial performance both in dark and under visible‐light illumination. The growth of E. coli cell was inhibited in the presence of Ag/AgBr/TiO2/AC in dark. Moreover, upon visible‐light illumination, a significant damage of cell membrane was noticed. Ag/AgBr/TiO2/AC was also shown higher photocatalytic efficiency for methylene blue degradation than those of TiO2, TiO2/AC, and Ag/AgBr/TiO2. This is attributed to the synergetic effect between AC and Ag/AgBr/TiO2, of which AC acts as the role of increasing reaction areas, continuous enriching, and transferring the adsorbed MB molecules to the surface of supported photocatalysts, and the Ag/AgBr/TiO2 acts as a highly active photocatalyst for degrading MB molecules under visible‐light irradiation.  相似文献

A nitrogen‐doped TiO2 (N‐TiO2) nanowire film was synthesized via a one‐pot hydrothermal method using triethylamine as nitrogen source. The effect of the concentration of the triethylamine on the films was evaluated. In addition, the N‐TiO2 nanowires were characterized using field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. A 3.2× enhancement of the photocurrent for N‐TiO2 (0.6) was achieved over the as‐prepared TiO2 nanowire, under AM1.5G solar illumination. This was due to nitrogen doping, which could narrow the bandgap of titania to extend the adsorption of the catalyst to the visible light region.  相似文献

A novel and facile method was developed to prepare a visible‐light driven TiO2/Ag‐AgCl@polypyrrole (PPy) photocatalyst with Ag‐AgCl nanoparticles supported on TiO2 nanofibers and covered by a thin PPy shell. During the synthesis, the PPy shell and Ag‐AgCl nanoparticles were prepared simultaneously onto TiO2 nanofibers, which simplified the preparation procedure. In addition, because Ag‐AgCl aggregates were fabricated via partly etching the Ag nanoparticles, their size was well controlled at the nanoscale, which was beneficial for improvement of the contact surface area. Compared with reference photocatalysts, the TiO2/Ag‐AgCl@PPy composite exhibited an enhanced photodegradation activity towards rhodamine B under visible‐light irradiation. The superior photocatalytic property originated from synergistic effects between TiO2 nanofibers, Ag‐AgCl nanoparticles and the PPy shell. Furthermore, the TiO2/Ag‐AgCl@PPy composite could be easily separated and recycled without obvious reduction in activity.  相似文献

TiO2 nanoparticles are of great current interest for applications in photo‐electronic materials including light‐energy conversion, artificial photosynthetic systems as well as photocatalysis. The success of these applications relies on the exciton recombination dynamics and visible‐light sensitivity of the TiO2 nanomaterials. Thus, in order to develop the highly efficient photo‐electronic materials absorbing visible light, different low dimensional TiO2 nanostructures such as nanodiscs, nanofibers and nanochains were synthesized, and thereafter their surfaces were modified by incorporating with Sn‐porphyrins and heteropoly acid. The optoelectronic properties of the surface‐modified nanomaterials were investigated with regard to the optical properties and the surface exciton dynamics by using both steady‐state and ultrafast time‐resolved laser spectroscopic techniques including single nanoparticle photoluminescence technique. These results were correlated with the photo‐electronic properties including photocatalytic activities and solar cell efficiencies, indicating that the electron transfer mechanism in the modified nanostructures may be similar to the “Z‐scheme” of the plant photosynthetic system so that both photocatalytic activity and solar cell efficiencies were synergistically enhanced by using two color illumination.  相似文献

As a typical photocatalyst for CO2 reduction, practical applications of TiO2 still suffer from low photocatalytic efficiency and limited visible‐light absorption. Herein, a novel Au‐nanoparticle (NP)‐decorated ordered mesoporous TiO2 (OMT) composite (OMT‐Au) was successfully fabricated, in which Au NPs were uniformly dispersed on the OMT. Due to the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect derived from the excited Au NPs, the TiO2 shows high photocatalytic performance for CO2 reduction under visible light. The ordered mesoporous TiO2 exhibits superior material and structure, with a high surface area that offers more catalytically active sites. More importantly, the three‐dimensional transport channels ensure the smooth flow of gas molecules, highly efficient CO2 adsorption, and the fast and steady transmission of hot electrons excited from the Au NPs, which lead to a further improvement in the photocatalytic performance. These results highlight the possibility of improving the photocatalysis for CO2 reduction under visible light by constructing OMT‐based Au‐SPR‐induced photocatalysts.  相似文献

In this paper, poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐sodium sulfopropyl lauryl maleate‐co‐2‐hydroxy‐4‐(3‐methacryloxy‐2‐hydroxylpropoxy) benzophenone)/TiO2 (i.e., poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA)/TiO2) composite particles were prepared by ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization. To study the dispersion and UV‐stability of the composite particles, laser diffraction particle size analyzer (LDPSA), ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectroscopy (UV‐vis), UV‐vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and the weight loss measurement were used. The results indicate that the dispersion of the poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA)/TiO2 composite particles prepared by ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization is good. And the composite particles can absorb UV light; the ultraviolet absorption strength of poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA) grafted onto the surface of TiO2 has not changed after UV irradiation while that of PMMA changed significantly. The UV absorption strength, weight loss, and Tg changes are in the order PMMA> poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA) >PMMA grafted onto TiO2> poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA) grafted onto TiO2. These results show that the ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization will enhance the UV stability of composite particles, and the UV‐stability of PMMA can be enhanced by the introduction of the organic UV‐stabilizer BPMA and the inorganic UV‐stabilizer titanium dioxide into the PMMA chains by covalent bond, and the effect of the BPMA and the TiO2 used together is better than that used, respectively. Nanophase‐separated poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)‐l‐polyisobutylene (PHEMA‐l‐PIB) amphiphilic conetworks were obtained by crosslinking α,ω‐bismethacrylate‐terminated polyisobutylene (PIB) via copolymerization with silylated 2‐hydroxyethyl methacylate, followed by the hydrolysis of the silylether groups. Morphology development of a sample containing 64% PIB was monitored by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and small‐angle X‐ray scattering. For comparison, the morphology of a sample containing 53% PIB was investigated by AFM. The dry conetworks exhibited hydrophilic and hydrophobic phases with average 8–10‐nm domain sizes and were swellable in water as well as in heptane. Swelling amphiphilic conetworks with aqueous cadmium–chloride solution followed by exposure to H2S resulted in nanosized CdS clusters located in the amphiphilic conetworks, that is, for the first time, new inorganic–organic hybrid materials composed of CdS semiconducting nanocrystals and PHEMA‐l‐PIB amphiphilic conetworks were prepared. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Hybrid micromotors capable of both chemically powered propulsion and fuel‐free light‐driven actuation and offering built‐in optical brakes for chemical propulsion are described. The new hybrid micromotors are designed by combining photocatalytic TiO2 and catalytic Pt surfaces into a Janus microparticle. The chemical reactions on the different surfaces of the Janus particle hybrid micromotor can be tailored by using chemical or light stimuli that generate counteracting propulsion forces on the catalytic Pt and photocatalytic TiO2 sides. Such modulation of the surface chemistry on a single micromotor leads to switchable propulsion modes and reversal of the direction of motion that reflect the tuning of the local ion concentration and hence the dominant propulsion force. An intermediate Au layer (under the Pt surface) plays an important role in determining the propulsion mechanism and operation of the hybrid motor. The built‐in optical braking system allows “on‐the‐fly” control of the chemical propulsion through a photocatalytic reaction on the TiO2 side to counterbalance the chemical propulsion force generated on the Pt side. The adaptive dual operation of these chemical/light hybrid micromotors, associated with such control of the surface chemistry, holds considerable promise for designing smart nanomachines that autonomously reconfigure their propulsion mode for various on‐demand operations.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel TiO2 nanosheets assembled double‐wall hollow sphere (DHS)has been prepared successfully via hydrothermal treatment of SiO2@TiO2 with the assistant of CTAB.The prepared samples are characterized with transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron spin resonance (ESR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and X‐ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), etc. Results show that redeposited silica species play a key role in the formation of the double‐wall structure. The as‐synthesized DHS nanostructure exhibits a large surface area (417.6 m2 g‐1) and excellent mechanical strength. Furthermore, after decoration of Ag and calcination treatment, the double‐shelled TiO2/Ag heterostructures show an enhanced photocatalytic performance in the degradation of RhB under UV or visible light irradiations for the following reasons: the surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag, strong interaction between Ag and TiO2 nanosheets, large surface area, excellent adsorption capacityand unique double‐wall structure. On the basis of the experimental results, a possible mechanism for pollutantdegradation under visual light irradiation has been proposed.  相似文献

A novel dopant‐free TiO2 photocatalyst (Vo.‐TiO2), which is self‐modified by a large number of paramagnetic (single‐electron‐trapped) oxygen vacancies, was prepared by calcining a mixture of a porous amorphous TiO2 precursor, imidazole, and hydrochloric acid at elevated temperature (450 °C) in air. Control experiments demonstrate that the porous TiO2 precursor, imidazole, and hydrochloric acid are all necessary for the formation of Vo.‐TiO2. Although the synthesis of Vo.‐TiO2 originates from such a multicomponent system, this synthetic approach is facile, controllable, and reproducible. X‐ray diffraction, XPS, and EPR spectroscopy reveal that the Vo.‐TiO2 material with a high crystallinity embodies a mass of paramagnetic oxygen vacancies, and is free of other dopant species such as nitrogen and carbon. UV/Vis diffuse‐reflectance spectroscopy and photoelectrochemical measurement demonstrate that Vo.‐TiO2 is a stable visible‐light‐responsive material with photogenerated charge separation efficiency higher than N‐TiO2 and P25 under visible‐light irradiation. The Vo.‐TiO2 material exhibits not only satisfactory thermal‐ and photostability, but also superior photocatalytic activity for H2 evolution (115 μmol h?1 g?1) from water with methanol as sacrificial reagent under visible light (λ>400 nm) irradiation. Furthermore, the effects of reaction temperature, ratio of starting materials (imidazole:TiO2 precursor) and calcination time on the photocatalytic activity and the microstructure of Vo.‐TiO2 were elucidated.  相似文献

Mesoporous RuO2–TiO2 nanocomposites at different RuO2 concentrations (0–10 wt %) are prepared through a simple one‐step sol–gel reaction of tetrabutyl orthotitanate with ruthenium(III) acetylacetonate in the presence of an F127 triblock copolymer as structure‐directing agent. The thus‐formed RuO2–TiO2 network gels are calcined at 450 °C for 4 h leading to mesoporous RuO2–TiO2 nanocomposites. The photocatalytic CH3OH oxidation to HCHO is chosen as the test reaction to examine the photocatalytic activity of the mesoporous RuO2–TiO2 nanocomposites under UV and visible light. The photooxidation of CH3OH is substantially affected by the loading amount and the degree of dispersion of RuO2 particles onto the TiO2, which indicates the exclusive effect of the RuO2 nanoparticles on this photocatalytic reaction under visible light. The measured photonic efficiency ξ=0.53 % of 0.5 wt % RuO2–TiO2 nanocomposite for CH3OH oxidation is maximal and the further increase of RuO2 loading up to 10 wt % gradually decreases this value. The cause of the visible‐light photocatalytic behavior is the incorporation of small amounts of Ru4+ into the anatase lattice. On the other hand, under UV light, undoped TiO2 shows a very good photonic efficiency, which is more than three times that for commercial photocatalyst, P‐25 (Evonik–Degussa); however, addition of RuO2 suppresses the photonic efficiency of TiO2. The proposed reaction mechanism based on the observed behavior of RuO2–TiO2 photocatalysts under UV and visible light is explored.  相似文献

Cerium‐doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) with a hollow fiber structure was successfully prepared using ammonium ceric nitrate and tetrabutyltitanate as precursors and cotton fiber as the template. The effects of cerium (Ce)‐doping on the crystallite sizes, crystal pattern, and optical property of the prepared catalysts were investigated by means of techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), BET surface area, and UV‐vis diffuse absorption spectroscopy. SEM observation showed that the prepared TiO2 fibers possessed fibrous shape inherited from the cotton fiber and had a hollow structure. As confirmed by XRD and UV‐vis diffuse absorption spectroscopy examinations, Ce‐doping restrained the growth of grain size and extended the photoabsorption edge of TiO2 hollow fiber into the visible light region. The present photocatalyst showed higher photocatalytic reactivity in photodegradation of highly concentrated methylene blue (MB) solutions than pure TiO2 under UV and visible light, and the amount of Ce‐doped significantly affected the catalytic property. In the experiment condition, the photocatalytic activity of 0.5 mol% Ce‐doped TiO2 fiber was optimal of all the prepared samples. In addition, the possibility of cyclic usage of the photocatalyst was also confirmed. The material was easily removed by centrifugal separation. Therefore, using the template method and by doping with cerium, TiO2 may hopefully become a low‐energy consuming, high activity and green environmentally friendly catalytic material.  相似文献

Near‐monodisperse Bi‐doped anatase TiO2 nanospheres with almost uniform diameters in the range of 117 to 87 nm were prepared simply by introducing different amounts of bismuth nitrate pentahydrate into the reaction system and subsequent calcinations. X‐ray diffraction, UV‐visible diffuse reflectance spectra, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirm that the doped ions substitute some of the lattice titanium atoms, and furthermore, Bi3+ and Bi4+ ions coexist. All the Bi‐doped TiO2 samples show much better photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2 in the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under the irradiation of visible light (λ>420 nm), and, interestingly, it was found that the degradation mechanism is different from the conventional one, which has already been reported elsewhere. The detailed mechanism is discussed in this article.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) and silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) sequentially decorated nitrogen‐doped titania nanotube array (N‐TiO2 NTA) had been designed as visible‐light‐driven self‐cleaning surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for a recyclable SERS detection application. N‐TiO2 NTA was fabricated by anodic oxidation and then doping nitrogen treatment in ammonia atmosphere, acting as a visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst and supporting substrate. Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA was prepared by decorating GO monolayer through an impregnation process and then depositing Ag NPs through a polyol process on the surface of N‐TiO2 NTA, acting as the collection of organic molecule and Raman enhancement. The SERS activity of Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA was evaluated using methyl blue as an organic probe molecule, revealing the analytical enhancement factor of 4.54 × 104. Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA was applied as active SERS substrate to determine a low‐affinity organic pollutant of bisphenol A, revealing the detection limit of as low as 5 × 10?7 m . Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA could also achieve self‐cleaning function for a recycling utilization through visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic degradation of the adsorbed organic molecules. Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA has been successfully reused for five times without an obvious decay in accuracy and sensitivity for organic molecule detection. The unique properties of this SERS substrate enable it to have a promising application for the sensitive and recyclable SERS detection of low‐affinity organic molecules.
