A simple, continuously tunable dual-wavelength erbium-doped fiber ring laser (TDEDFL) structure for applications in high-speed communication systems is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The dual-wavelength tuning range is 58 nm covering both the C-band and L-band from 1547 to 1605 nm. We can not only obtain a 45% improvement over previously reported tuning ranges, but also tune the wavelength of each lasing output independently. The power equalization of the dual-wavelength outputs is less than 1.5 dB. We obtain extremely stable power variation and wavelength fluctuation at room temperature. Using this fiber laser, a 10-Gb/s data transmission over a 25-km single-mode fiber (SMF) can be made available with a power penalty of 0.5 dB is demonstrated with this laser.  相似文献

A stable and tunable multi-wavelength fiber laser with a polarization-maintaining erbium-doped fiber (PM-EDF) and a polarization controller (PC) is proposed and demonstrated. A homemade PM-EDF incorporated in the ring cavity is used as the gain medium. Simultaneous multi-wavelength oscillation is achieved at room temperature. The theory of the PM-EDF and PC to suppress the wavelength competition is described in detail. The 3 dB bandwidth is less than 0.01 nm. The power fluctuation and wavelength shift are measured to be less than 0.5 dB and 0.05 nm over 32 min. The wavelength tuning between single-, double-, triple-, and four-wavelength is realized.  相似文献

A compact intra-cavity pumped low threshold continuous-wave Ho:Sc2SiO5 laser is reported. The characteristics of output wavelength tuning are investigated by use a intra-cavity briefringent (BF) filter. A wavelength tunable range of 140 nm from 2020 to 2160 nm is achieved. For the free-running mode, the laser slope efficiency is 24.8%, when the output central wavelength is 2110 nm. The laser threshold is about 820 mW of incident pump power. With the BF filter, a maximum output power of 870 mW is obtained at the incident pump power of 5 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 20.3%. The characteristics of output wavelength verse the crystal temperature are also investigated.  相似文献

A stable multi-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser based on four-wave mixing (FWM) in a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is demonstrated in this paper. The phase matching condition for four-wave mixing in the photonic crystal fiber has been enhanced using a seed signal and a polarisation controller to control the states of polarisation in the ring laser cavity. At a maximum pump power of 1480 nm, 5 lines are observed with nearly 2.15 nm spacing between the lines, and with a signal to noise ratio of more than 20 dB. The number of channels and wavelength spacing can be controlled by varying the output coupler ratio.  相似文献

A new and energy-efficient tie-type architecture for stable and wavelength-tunable semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based fiber ring laser is proposed and experimentally investigated. Here, the tie-type laser configuration is constructed by two Sagnac fiber loops. The proposed laser also can extend the lasing wavelength to longer wavelength (L-band) even only the C-band SOA is used. The proposed tie-type architecture has >5 dB higher output optical power at bias current of 80 mA when compared with the single ring SOA-based fiber laser. In this measurement, the output power, wavelength tuning range, side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) and output stability of proposed fiber laser have also been analyzed and discussed.  相似文献

We present a 2.09 μm single-longitudinal-mode sandwich-type YAG/Ho:YAG/YAG ceramic laser pumped by a Tm-doped fiber laser for the first time. A pair of F-P etalons was used to achieve tunable single-longitudinal-mode operation. The maximum single-longitudinal-mode output power of 530 mW at 2091.4 nm was obtained with an absorbed pump power of 8.06 W, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 6.6% and a slope efficiency of 12.7%. Wavelength tunable was achieved by tuning the angle of etalons and the wavelength could be tuned from 2091.1 nm to 2092.1 nm, corresponding to a tuning frequency of 68 GHz. The M2 factor was measured to be 1.23.  相似文献

All passively mode locked erbium-doped fiber laser with a zirconium host is demonstrated. The fiber laser utilizes the Non-Linear Polarization Rotation (NPR) technique with an inexpensive fiber-based Polarization Beam Splitter (PBS) as the mode-locking element. A 2 m crystalline Zirconia–Yttria–Alumino-silicate fiber doped with erbium ions (Zr–Y–Al-EDF) acts as the gain medium and generates an Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) spectrum from 1500 nm to 1650 nm. The generated mode-locked pulses have a spectrum ranging from 1548 nm to more than 1605 nm, as well as a 3-dB bandwidth of 12 nm. The mode-locked pulse train has an average output power level of 17 mW with a calculated peak power of 1.24 kW and energy per pulse of approximately 730 pJ. The spectrum also exhibits a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 50 dB as well as a repetition rate of 23.2 MHz. The system is very stable and shows little power fluctuation, in addition to being repeatable.  相似文献

A Dual-Wavelength Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (DW-SOA) based fiber ring laser with synchronous wavelength tunability is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The SOA gain medium strongly suppresses mode competition, thus allowing stable dual-wavelength laser oscillation. The wavelength spacing of the two lasers can be tuned synchronously using a modified hybrid-tuning package incorporating a pair of Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs). The DW-SOA demonstrates a laser output with a wavelength spacing of between 0.10 and 8.30 nm (wavelength shift inequality of 0.08 to 0.75 nm). The relationship between the applied strain and wavelength shift of the two tuning modes is also analyzed.  相似文献

We demonstrate graphene mode-locked nanosecond erbium-doped fiber laser in an all-fiber ring cavity. The clean and robust pulse train was generated at 27 mW pump power. Resultant central wavelength, repetition rate and pulse width was 1560 nm, 388 kHz and 6 ns, respectively. With two stage fiber amplifier, the output power was 553 mW, corresponding to single pulse energy of 1.4 μJ. In addition, the pulse-width can be varied ranging from 3 ns to 20 ns at repetition rate between 200 kHz and 1.54 MHz by changing the length of the laser cavity.  相似文献

A dual-wavelength fiber laser with a narrow-linewidth, based on a P-F fiber filter has been proposed. Polarization-maintaining fiber Bragg grating (PM-FBG) and a F-P fiber filter are introduced based on the traditional fiber laser. PM-FBG is used as the wavelength selection device. The fiber F-P filter consists of two optical couplers and a section of un-pumped erbium-doped fiber (EDF). Due to the delay of cavity and the loss generated by the EDF, the filter has comb spectral response. The incorporation of the fiber F-P filter leads to the suppression of undesirable modes. At the room temperature, under 980 nm LD pumped, the maximum output of the two wavelengths is respectively ?2.259 dBm and 0.568 dBm, with the 3-dB bandwidth separately 0.1 nm and 0.14 nm, realizing the narrow linewidth and dual-wavelength output.  相似文献

A stable wavelength and wavelength spacing tunable dual-wavelength fiber laser based on an Opto-very-large-scale-integration (Opto-VLSI) processor and four-wave mixing (FWM) in a high-nonlinear photonic crystal fiber is experimentally demonstrated. The results show that the line width of the tunable dual-wavelength fiber laser is 0.02 nm, and the wavelength spacing can be tuned from 0.8 nm to 4 nm with a 0.15 nm step. Under the influence of the FWM, the uniformity is below 0.6 dB and the measured side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) is above 45 dB.  相似文献

A dual-wavelength ytterbium doped fiber laser with a narrowest spacing of 0.53 nm and widest spacing of 12.2 nm at 1064 nm is presented in this paper. An arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) together with an optical channel selector (OCS) have also been incorporated in the proposed setup that works as a switchable mechanism giving 23 different wavelength tunings. Producing an average output power of ?8 dB m and side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) of 59.65 dB, this dual-wavelength fiber laser is quite stable with an output power variance as low as 0.47 dB giving it an advantage due to its switching ability and stable dual-wavelength output powers.  相似文献

A dual-stage L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier with a flat gain bandwidth over 36 nm is demonstrated using pump distribution technique. The pump power was distributed to two stages depending on the splitting ratio and the length of erbium-doped fiber that was used for this configuration. Both parameters are the key components for achieving a substantially flat gain response throughout the L-band region ranging from 1570 nm to 1605 nm. Although the input signal power was varied from ? 30 dBm to 0 dBm, gain of 17 dB with slight variations of less than 1.5 dB and a noise figure of less than 6.7 dB were achieved. All the results obtained show better performances when comparison was made with the conventional single-stage L-band optical amplifier.  相似文献

A high-power Er,Yb double-clad ribbon fiber laser pumped by a 9-diode-bar pump module is reported. The laser yielded 102 W of continuous-wave output at 1566 nm for a launched pump power of 244 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of ~ 44% with respect to launched pump power. Tunable operation was achieved using a simple external feedback cavity with a diffraction grating and the operating wavelength could be tuned from 1533 nm to 1567 nm. Temperature distribution in the ribbon fiber geometry and prospects of power scaling will be discussed.  相似文献

We present the experimental results of a 1083 nm fiber amplifier tandem pumped by 1030 nm fiber laser. The output characteristics of the tandem pumped amplifier with cladding-pump and core-pump schemes are both investigated. The 1083 nm signal laser has not been efficiently amplified when cladding-pumped by 1030 nm laser for the weak absorption of the gain fiber. The core-pump scheme works well with the amplifier. The output properties with different gain fiber length are experimentally investigated. The maximum output power is 2.4 W with power conversion efficiency of 60%.  相似文献

Experimental results of a study on the wavelength dependence and the dynamic range of the quadratic response of commercial grade light emitting diodes (LEDs) are reported over a broad spectral range of 680 nm to 1080 nm using ~ 100 fs duration laser pulses from cw mode locked laser oscillator. A large dynamic range of the quadratic response has been demonstrated in a reverse biased LED. The observed dynamic range compares well with that obtained using a biased photomultiplier tube with large internal gain.  相似文献

Modification of the metal complexes by the laser irradiation with different wavelength and beam quality is investigated. After irradiation, the structure of macromolecular metal complexes are changed, and the reducing metal crystal nucleus emerges.. In this paper, the surface of the metal complexes is irradiated by laser scanning with wavelengths of 532 nm, 1064 nm and 10.6 μm.The 1064nm laser performs the most favorably by using Scanning Electron Microscope and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. Because the change of chemical composition percentage and variation of metal chemical valence state is most evident. Furthermore, mode selection of laser cavity by adding a pinhole aperture further improves the surface topography, fineness of modification and reducing ability. The appropriate wavelength and mode selection should be utilized together with other influencing laser parameters to achieve the most favorable consequence of metal complexes surface modification.  相似文献

In the present work, we investigate the surface treatment of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites by laser ablation with femtosecond laser radiation. For this purpose, unidirectional carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy matrix composites were treated with femtosecond laser pulses of 1024 nm wavelength and 550 fs duration. Laser tracks were inscribed on the material surface using pulse energies and scanning speeds in the range 0.1–0.5 mJ and 0.1–5 mm/s, respectively. The morphology of the laser treated surfaces was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy. We show that, by using the appropriate processing parameters, a selective removal of the epoxy resin can be achieved, leaving the carbon fibers exposed. In addition, sub-micron laser induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) are created on the carbon fibers surface, which may be potentially beneficial for the improvement of the fiber to matrix adhesion in adhesive bonds between CFRP parts.  相似文献

Erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber amplifier with wavelength-tuned Yb-band loop resonator is presented. The amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from Yb ions is utilized to stimulate a laser emission at several wavelengths from the 1 μm band in the 1550 nm amplifier. The wavelength of this lasing is tuned by introducing a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The results show, that the overall efficiency of the amplifier at nominal 1550 nm wavelength can be increased by introducing a feedback loop with 1040 nm and 1050 nm FBG. This loop also protects the Er/Yb amplifier from parasitic lasing at 1 μm and allows significant output power scaling without risk of self-pulsing.  相似文献
