The phase control method is a non-feedback control technique which has been used for different purposes in continuous periodically driven dynamical systems. One of the main goals of this paper is to apply this control technique to the bouncing ball system, which can be seen as a paradigmatic periodically driven discrete dynamical system, and has a rather simple physical interpretation. The main idea is to apply a periodic control signal including a phase difference with respect to the periodic forcing of the initial system and to analyze its effect on the dynamics of the bouncing ball system. The numerical simulations we have carried out clearly show the strong effect of the phase of the control signal in suppressing or generating chaotic behavior and in changing the period of a periodic orbit. We have also analyzed the effect of the phase in the phenomenon of the crisis-induced intermittency, showing how the phase enhances the size of the attractor near a crisis and can induce the intermittent behavior. Finally we have analyzed the scaling behavior of the crisis by varying the phase difference between the perturbation and the external forcing.  相似文献

The physical pendulum equation with suspension axis vibrations is investigated. By using Melnikov's method, we prove the conditions for the existence of chaos under periodic perturbations. By using second-order averaging method and Melinikov's method, we give the conditions for the existence of chaos in an averaged system under quasi-periodic perturbations for Ω = nω + εv, n = 1 - 4, where ν is not rational to ω. We are not able to prove the existence of chaos for n = 5 - 15, but show the chaotic behavior for n = 5 by numerical simulation. By numerical simulation we check on our theoretical analysis and further exhibit the complex dynamical behavior, including the bifurcation and reverse bifurcation from period-one to period-two orbits; the onset of chaos, the entire chaotic region without periodic windows, chaotic regions with complex periodic windows or with complex quasi-periodic windows; chaotic behaviors suddenly disappearing, or converting to period-one orbit which means that the system can be stabilized to periodic motion by adjusting bifurcation parameters α, δ, f0 and Ω; and the onset of invariant torus or quasi-periodic behaviors, the entire invariant torus region or quasi-periodic region without periodic window, quasi-periodic behaviors or invariant torus behaviors suddenly disappearing or converting to periodic orbit; and the jumping behaviors which including from period- one orbit to anther period-one orbit, from quasi-periodic set to another quasi-periodic set; and the interleaving occurrence of chaotic behaviors and invariant torus behaviors or quasi-periodic behaviors; and the interior crisis; and the symmetry breaking of period-one orbit; and the different nice chaotic attractors. However, we haven't find the cascades of period-doubling bifurcations under the quasi-periodic perturbations and show the differences of dynamical behaviors and technics of research between the periodic perturbations and quasi-periodic perturbations.  相似文献

The discrete Fitzhugh nerve systems obtained by the Euler method is investigated and it is proved that there exist chaotic phenomena in the sense of Marotto’s definition of chaos. And numerical simulations not only show the consistence with the theoretical analysis but also exhibit the complex dynarnical behaviors, including the ten-periodic orbit, a cascade of period-doubling bifurcation, quasiperiodic orbits and the chaotic orbits and intermittent chaos. The computations of Lyapunov exponents confirm the chaos behaviors. Moreover we also find a strange attractor having the self-similar ohit structure as that of Henon attractor.  相似文献

** Email: hans.troger{at}tuwien.ac.at One of the most important operations during a tethered satellitesystem mission is the deployment of a subsatellite from a spaceship.We restrict to the simple, but practically important case thatthe system is moving on a circular Keplerian orbit around theEarth. The main problem during deployment due to the local gravitygradient vector is that due to the Coriolis acceleration thetwo satellites do not move along the straight radial relativeequilibrium position in the orbital frame. Instead, a strongdeviation from the local vertical direction occurs, which afterthe deployment process is finished results in weakly dampedlarge-amplitude oscillations, which in some cases are even transientchaotic. This chaotic dynamics will be used to steer the satellitewith small control actions into the final radial relative equilibriumposition far away from the spaceship. The Duffing equation with even-odd asymmetrical nonlinear-restoring force and one external forcingis investigated.The conditions of existence of primary resonance,second-order,third-order subharmonics,m-order subharmonics and chaos are given by using the second-averaging method,the Melnikov method andbifurcation theory.Numerical simulations including bifurcation diagram,bifurcation surfaces and phase portraitsshow the consistence with the theoretical analysis.The numerical results also exhibit new dynamical behaviorsincluding onset of chaos,chaos suddenly disappearing to periodic orbit,cascades of inverse period-doublingbifurcations,period-doubling bifurcation,symmetry period-doubling bifurcations of period-3 orbit,symmetry-breaking of periodic orbits,interleaving occurrence of chaotic behaviors and period-one orbit,a great abundanceof periodic windows in transient chaotic regions with interior crises and boundary crisis and varied chaoticattractors.Our results show that many dynamical behaviors are strictly departure from the behaviors of theDuffing equation with odd-nonlinear restoring force.  相似文献

Transversal homoclinic orbits of maps are known to generate a Cantor set on which a power of the map conjugates to the Bernoulli shift on two symbols. This conjugacy may be regarded as a coding map, which for example assigns to a homoclinic symbol sequence a point in the Cantor set that lies on a homoclinic orbit of the map with a prescribed number of humps. In this paper we develop a numerical method for evaluating the conjugacy at periodic and homoclinic symbol sequences in a systematic way. The approach combines our previous method for computing the primary homoclinic orbit with the constructive proof of Smale's theorem given by Palmer. It is shown that the resulting nonlinear systems are well conditioned uniformly with respect to the characteristic length of the symbol sequence and that Newton's method converges uniformly too when started at a proper pseudo orbit. For the homoclinic symbol sequences an error analysis is given. The method works in arbitrary dimensions and it is illustrated by examples. In many control engineering applications, it is impossible or expensive to measure all the states of the dynamical system and only the system output is available for controller design. In this study, a new dynamic output feedback control algorithm is proposed to stabilize the unstable periodic orbit of chaotic spinning disks with incomplete state information. The proposed control structure is based on the T‐S fuzzy systems. This investigation also introduces a new design procedure to satisfy a constraint on the T‐S fuzzy dynamic output feedback control signal. This procedure is independent of the exact value of initial states. We investigate the relation between optimal control and controllability for a phase field system modeling the solidification process of pure materials in the case that only one control force is used. Such system is constituted of one energy balance equation, with a localized control associated to the density of heat sources and sinks to be determined, coupled with a phase field equation with the classical nonlinearity derived from the two-well potential. We prove that this system has a local controllability property and we establish that a sequence of solutions of certain optimal control problems converges to a solution of such controllability problem.  相似文献

A rigorous numerical method for establishing the existence of a transversal connecting orbit from one hyperbolic periodic orbit to another of a differential equation in is presented. As the first component of this method, a general shadowing theorem that guarantees the existence of such a connecting orbit near a suitable pseudo connection orbit given the invertibility of a certain operator is proved. The second component consists of a refinement procedure for numerically computing a pseudo connecting orbit between two pseudo periodic orbits with sufficiently small local errors so as to satisfy the hypothesis of the theorem. The third component consists of a numerical procedure to verify the invertibility of the operator and obtain a rigorous upper bound for the norm of its inverse. Using this method, existence of chaos is demonstrated on examples with transversal homoclinic orbits, and with cycles of transversal heteroclinic orbits.  相似文献

Summary We introduce the idea of local Lyapunov exponents which govern the way small perturbations to the orbit of a dynamical system grow or contract after afinite number of steps,L, along the orbit. The distributions of these exponents over the attractor is an invariant of the dynamical system; namely, they are independent of the orbit or initial conditions. They tell us the variation of predictability over the attractor. They allow the estimation of extreme excursions of perturbations to an orbit once we know the mean and moments about the mean of these distributions. We show that the variations about the mean of the Lyapunov exponents approach zero asL and argue from our numerical work on several chaotic systems that this approach is asL –v. In our examplesv 0.5–1.0. The exponents themselves approach the familiar Lyapunov spectrum in this same fashion.  相似文献

We investigate the relation between distributional chaos and minimal sets, and discuss how to obtain various distributionally scrambled sets by using least and simplest minimal sets. We show: i) an uncountable extremal distributionally scrambled set can appear in a system with just one simple minimal set: a periodic orbit with period 2; ii) an uncountable dense invariant distributionally scrambled set can occur in a system with just two minimal sets: a fixed point and an infinite minimal set; iii) infinitely many minimal sets are necessary to generate a uniform invariant distributionally scrambled set, and an uncountable dense extremal invariant distributionally scrambled set can be constructed by using just countably infinitely many periodic orbits.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a discrete model to illustrate how two pieces of information interact with online social networks and investigate the dynamics of discrete-time information diffusion model in three types: reverse type, intervention type and mutualistic type. It is found that the model has orbits with period 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 30, quasiperiodic orbit, and undergoes heteroclinic bifurcation near 1:2 point, a homoclinic structure near 1:3 resonance point and an invariant cycle bifurcated by period 4 orbit near 1:4 resonance point. Moreover, in order to regulate information diffusion process and information security, we give two control strategies, the hybrid control method and the feedback controller of polynomial functions, to control chaos, flip bifurcation, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 resonances, respectively, in the two-dimensional discrete system.  相似文献

We analyze homoclinic orbits near codimension-1 and -2 heteroclinic cycles between an equilibrium and a periodic orbit for ordinary differential equations in three or higher dimensions. The main motivation for this study is a self-organized periodic replication process of travelling pulses which has been observed in reaction-diffusion equations. We establish conditions for existence and uniqueness of countably infinite families of curve segments of 1-homoclinic orbits which accumulate at codimension-1 or -2 heteroclinic cycles. The main result shows the bifurcation of a number of curves of 1-homoclinic orbits from such codimension-2 heteroclinic cycles which depends on a winding number of the transverse set of heteroclinic points. In addition, a leading order expansion of the associated curves in parameter space is derived. Its coefficients are periodic with one frequency from the imaginary part of the leading stable Floquet exponents of the periodic orbit and one from the winding number.  相似文献

This article presents a nonlinear state feedback stabilizer using linear matrix inequalities for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with Lipschitz nonlinearities. The proposed controller improves the transient performance and steady state accuracy simultaneously. To improve the stabilization performance, a nonlinear function is included in the control law and is optimally tuned using a modified random search algorithm.
