A homotopy analysis method(HAM)is presented for the primary resonance of multiple degree-of-freedom systems with strong non-linearity excited by harmonic forces. The validity of the HAM is independent of the existence of small parameters in the considered equation. The HAM provides a simple way to adjust and control the convergence region of the series solution by means of an auxiliary parameter. Two examples are presented to show that the HAM solutions agree well with the results of the modified Linstedt-Poincar'e method and the incremental harmonic balance method.  相似文献

The homotopy analysis method (HAM) is used to find a family of solitary solutions of the Kuramoto–Sivashinsky equation. This approximate solution, which is obtained as a series of exponentials, has a reasonable residual error. The homotopy analysis method contains the auxiliary parameter , which provides us with a simple way to adjust and control the convergence region of series solution. This method is reliable and manageable.  相似文献

The solution for the flow of a third grade fluid bounded by two parallel porous plates is given using homotopy analysis method (HAM). A comparison is made with the exact numerical solution for the various values of the physical parameters. It is found that a proper choice of the auxiliary parameter occurring in HAM solution gives very close results.  相似文献

In this paper, the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) is developed to obtain approximate analytical solutions of a fractional Boussinesq equation with initial condition. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. Some examples are given and comparisons are made, the comparisons show that the HPM is very effective and convenient and overcomes the difficulty of traditional methods. The numerical results show that the approaches are easy to implement and accurate when applied to space‐ and time‐fractional equations. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper steady flow of a third grade fluid through porous space is considered. Modified Darcy’s law for third grade fluid in a porous space has been introduced. The governing non-linear equation is first modelled and then solved using homotopy analysis method (HAM). The convergence of the obtained series solution is discussed. The effects of the emerging parameters on the velocity field are seen. It is noted that meaningful solution exists only in the case of suction.  相似文献

This paper presents the analytic solution for flow of a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Sisko fluid through a porous medium. The non-linear flow problem in a porous medium is formulated by introducing the modified Darcy’s law for Sisko fluid to discuss the flow in a porous medium. The analytic solutions are obtained using homotopy analysis method (HAM). The obtained analytic solutions are explicitly expressed by the recurrence relations and can give results for all the appropriate values of material parameters of the examined fluid. Moreover, the well-known solutions for a Newtonian fluid in non-porous and porous medium are the limiting cases of our solutions.  相似文献

This paper deals with the viscoelastic boundary layer flow past a plate. Constitutive assumptions of the FENE‐P model are taken into account. The pressure gradient is taken as non‐zero. The series solution of the non‐linear problem modelled in (Appl. Math. Lett. 2007; 20 :1211–1215) is developed by a homotopy analysis method (HAM). Numerical solution of the skin friction coefficient is also computed. Further a comparison between the numerical and HAM solutions is provided. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The extended homotopy perturbation method, which is an extension of the celebrated homotopy perturbation method (HPM), is applied to obtain a solution to the problem of the steady, laminar, axisymmetric flow of a viscous, incompressible fluid past a porous stretching sheet. The solution so obtained is totally analytical and is expressible in terms of the cross‐flow velocity of the fluid past the stretching sheet. Its hallmark is that it does not depend upon computation of any auxiliary parameter for enlarging the convergence region of the solution. Rather, it calculates the solution automatically adjusting the scaling factor of the independent similarity variable normal to the sheet. The results obtained by the extended HPM are in excellent agreement with the exact numerical solution. Also, an asymptotic solution valid for large suction parameter is developed, which matches well with the exact solution even for moderate values of the suction parameter. The purpose of this study is to implement a new analytical method which is a combination of the homotopy analysis method (HAM) and the Padé approximant for solving magnetohydrodynamic boundary-layer flow. The solution is compared with the numerical solution. Comparisons between the HAM–Padé and the numerical solution reveal that the new technique is a promising tool for solving MHD boundary-layer equations. The effects of the various parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles are presented graphically form. Favorable comparisons with previously published works (Crane, J. Appl. Math. Phys. 21:645–647, 1970, and Vajravelu and Hadjinicolaou, Int. J. Eng. Sci. 35:1237–1244, 1997) are obtained. It is predicted that HAM–Padé can have wide application in engineering problems (especially for boundary-layer and natural convection problems).  相似文献

In this paper, numerical analysis of the (2+1)-dimensional dispersive long-wave equation (DLWE) is studied by using the homotopy perturbation method (HPM). For this purpose, the available analytical solutions obtained by multiple traveling-wave solution will be compared to show the validity and accuracy of the presented numerical algorithm. The obtained results prove the convergence and accuracy of the HPM for the numerically analyzed (2+1)-dimensional DLWE system.  相似文献

A new analytical method, namely the homotopy analysis method (HAM), has been applied to investigate the temperature field associated with the Falkner–Skan boundary-layer problem, and a series solution is provided in this paper. The results of the present work show agreement with those of numerical solutions in a large range of Prandtl numbers (0 < Pr ≤ 100), which demonstrates the validity of the present analysis.

In this paper, the steady flow and heat transfer of a magnetohydrodynamic fluid is studied. The fluid is assumed to be electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform magnetic field and occupies the porous space in annular pipe. The governing nonlinear equations are modeled by introducing the modified Darcy's law obeying the Sisko model. The system is solved using the homotopy analysis method (HAM), which yields analytical solutions in the form of a rapidly convergent infinite series. Also, HAM is used to obtain analytical solutions of the problem for noninteger values of the power index. The resulting problem for velocity field is then numerically solved using an iterative method to show the accuracy of the analytic solutions. The obtained solutions for the velocity and temperature fields are graphically sketched and the salient features of these solutions are discussed for various values of the power index parameter. We also present a comparison between Sisko and Newtonian fluids. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The flow of a micropolar fluid in a semi-porous channel with an expanding or contracting wall is investigated. The governing equations are reduced to ordinary ones by using similar transformations. To get the analytic solution to the problem, the homotopy analysis method (HAM) is employed to obtain the expressions for velocity fields. Graphs are sketched and discussed for various parameters, especially the effect of the expansion ratio on velocity and micro-rotation fields.  相似文献

This work investigates the flow of a third grade fluid in a rotating frame of reference. The fluid is incompressible and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD). The flow is bounded between two porous plates, the lower of which is shrinking linearly. Mathematical modelling of the considered flow leads to a nonlinear problem. The solution of this nonlinear problem is computed by the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Graphs are presented to demonstrate the effect of several emerging parameters, which clearly describe the flow characteristics.  相似文献

The present paper investigates the steady flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid. The fluid flow is induced by an exponentially stretched surface. Suitable transformations reduce a system of nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of ordinary differential equations. Convergence of series solution is discussed explicitly by a homotopy analysis method (HAM). Velocity, temperature and heat transfer rates are examined for different involved parameters through graphs. It is revealed that for a larger retardation time constant, the velocity is enhanced and the temperature is lowered. It is noted that relaxation time constant and the Prandtl number enhance the heat transfer rate.  相似文献
