In this paper, we first introduce interpolation operator of projection type in three dimen- sions, from which we derive weak estimates for tricubic block finite elements. Then using the estimate for the W 2, 1-seminorm of the discrete derivative Green’s function and the weak estimates, we show that the tricubic block finite element solution uh and the tricubic interpolant of projection type Πh3u have superclose gradient in the pointwise sense of the L∞-norm. Finally, this supercloseness is applied to superc...  相似文献

In this article, we study the semidiscrete H 1-Galerkin mixed finite element method for parabolic problems over rectangular partitions. The well-known optimal order error estimate in the L 2-norm for the flux is of order 𝒪(h k+1) (SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 35 (2), (1998), pp. 712–727), where k ≥ 1 is the order of the approximating polynomials employed in the Raviart–Thomas element. We derive a superconvergence estimate of order 𝒪(h k+3) between the H 1-Galerkin mixed finite element approximation and an appropriately defined local projection of the flux variable when k ≥ 1. A the new approximate solution for the flux with superconvergence of order 𝒪(h k+3) is realized via a postprocessing technique using local projection methods.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the finite volume element method for the monotone nonlinear second‐order elliptic boundary value problems. With the assumptions which guarantee that the corresponding operator is strongly monotone and Lipschitz‐continuous, and with the minimal regularity assumption on the exact solution, that is, uH1(Ω), we show that the finite volume element method has a unique solution, and the finite volume element approximation is uniformly convergent with respect to the H1 ‐norm. If uH1+ε(Ω),0 < ε ≤ 1, we develop the optimal convergence rate \begin{align*}\mathcal{O}(h^{\epsilon})\end{align*} in the H1 ‐norm. Moreover, we propose a natural and computationally easy residual‐based H1 ‐norm a posteriori error estimator and establish the global upper bound and local lower bounds on the error. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, we first introduce interpolation operator of projection type in three dimensions, from which we then derive weak estimates for tensor‐product block finite elements of degree m ≥ 1. Finally, using estimates for the discrete Green's function and the discrete derivative Green's function, we prove that both of the gradient and the function value of the finite element solution uh and the corresponding interpolant Πmu of projection type and degree m are superclose in the pointwise sense of the L‐norm. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider a posteriori error estimation for a multipoint flux mixed finite element method for two‐dimensional elliptic interface problems. Within the class of modified quasi‐monotonically distributed coefficients, we derive a residual‐type a posteriori error estimator of the weighted sum of the scalar and flux errors which is robust with respect to the jumps of the coefficients. Moreover, we develop robust implicit and explicit recovery‐type estimators through gradient recovery in an H(curl)‐conforming finite element space. In particular, we apply a modified L2 projection in the implicit recovery procedure so as to reduce the computational cost of the recovered gradient. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new discontinuous finite volume element (DFVE) method for the second‐order elliptic problems. We treat the DFVE method as a perturbation of the interior penalty method and get a superapproximation estimate in a mesh dependent norm between the solution of the DFVE method and that of the interior penalty method. This reveals that the DFVE method is much closer to the interior penalty method than we have known. By using this superapproximation estimate, we can easily get the optimal order error estimates in the L2 ‐norm and in the maximum norms of the DFVE method.© 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article derives the weak estimate of the first type for pentahedral finite elements over uniform partitions of the domain for the Poisson equation. The estimate for the W1,1‐seminorm of the discrete derivative Green's function is also given. Using these two estimates, we obtain the pointwise supercloseness of derivatives of the pentahedral finite element approximation and the interpolant to the true solution. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, we investigate the L(L2) ‐error estimates of the semidiscrete expanded mixed finite element methods for quadratic optimal control problems governed by hyperbolic integrodifferential equations. The state and the costate are discretized by the order k Raviart‐Thomas mixed finite element spaces, and the control is approximated by piecewise polynomials of order k(k ≥ 0). We derive error estimates for both the state and the control approximation. Numerical experiments are presented to test the theoretical results. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. For a variable coefficient elliptic boundary value problem in three dimensions, using the properties of the bubble function and the element cancelation technique, we derive the weak estimate of the first type for tetrahedral quadratic elements. In addition, the estimate for the W1,1‐seminorm of the discrete derivative Green's function is also given. Finally, we show that the derivatives of the finite element solution uh and the corresponding interpolant Π2u are superclose in the pointwise sense of the L‐norm. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new a posteriori error analysis for symmetric eigenvalue problems of the adaptive finite element method (AFEM) is presented. Based on an H1 stable L2 projection, we prove reliability of the edge contribution for P1 finite element methods. Hence the AFEM proposed can ignore the volume contribution as well as oscillations. In this work, an effective and fast finite element numerical method with high-order accuracy is discussed for solving a nonlinear time fractional diffusion equation. A two-level linearized finite element scheme is constructed and a temporal–spatial error splitting argument is established to split the error into two parts, that is, the temporal error and the spatial error. Based on the regularity of the time discrete system, the temporal error estimate is derived. Using the property of the Ritz projection operator, the spatial error is deduced. Unconditional superclose result in H1-norm is obtained, with no additional regularity assumption about the exact solution of the problem considered. Then the global superconvergence error estimate is obtained through the interpolated postprocessing technique. In order to reduce storage and computation time, a fast finite element method evaluation scheme for solving the nonlinear time fractional diffusion equation is developed. To confirm the theoretical error analysis, some numerical results are provided.  相似文献

The two-level pressure projection stabilized finite element methods for Navier-Stokes equations with nonlinear slip boundary conditions are investigated in this paper, whose variational formulation is the Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem of the second kind. Based on the P1-P1 triangular element and using the pressure projection stabilized finite element method, we solve a small Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem on the coarse mesh with mesh size H and solve a large Stokes type variational inequality problem for simple iteration or a large Oseen type variational inequality problem for Oseen iteration on the fine mesh with mesh size h. The error analysis obtained in this paper shows that if h=O(H2), the two-level stabilized methods have the same convergence orders as the usual one-level stabilized finite element methods, which is only solving a large Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem on the fine mesh. Finally, numerical results are given to verify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

For a model elliptic boundary value problem in three dimensions, we give the weak estimate of the first type for trilinear block elements and the estimate for W1,1‐seminorm of the discrete derivative Green's function over rectangular partitions of the domain, from which we obtain maximum‐norm superapproximation of the gradient for the trilinear block finite element approximation. Furthermore, utilizing this superapproximation, we can also obtain maximum‐norm superconvergence of the gradient. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2007  相似文献

The aim of this work is to give theoretical justification of several types of finite element approximations to the initial-boundary value problems of first order linear hyperbolic equations. Our approximate scheme is obtained by the piecewise linear continuous finite element method for space variable, x, and the Euler type step by step integration method for time variable, t. An artificial viscosity technique, up-stream type methods are considered within the frame work of L2-theory. The convergence and the error estimate of the approximate solutions to the true one are discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the notion of complexity for finitely presented groups and the related notion of complexity for three‐dimensional manifolds. We give two‐sided estimates on the complexity of all the Milnor groups (the finite groups with free action on S3), as well as for all finite Abelian groups. The ideas developed in the process also allow to construct two‐sided bounds for the values of the so‐called T ‐invariant (introduced by Delzant) for the above groups, and to estimate from below the value of T ‐invariant for an arbitrary finitely presented group. Using the results of this paper and of previous ones, we then describe an infinite collection of Seifert threemanifolds for which we can asymptotically determine the complexity in an exact fashion up to linear functions. We also provide similar estimates for the complexity of several infinite families of Milnor groups. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The mortar finite element method is a special domain decomposition method, which can handle the situation where meshes on different subdomains need not align across the interface. In this article, we will apply the mortar element method to general variational inequalities of free boundary type, such as free seepage flow, which may show different behaviors in different regions. We prove that if the solution of the original variational inequality belongs to H2(D), then the mortar element solution can achieve the same order error estimate as the conforming P1 finite element solution. Application of the mortar element method to a free surface seepage problem and an obstacle problem verifies not only its convergence property but also its great computational efficiency. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper considers the penalty finite element method for the Stokes equations, based on some stable finite elements space pair (Xh, Mh) that do satisfy the discrete inf–sup condition. Theoretical results show that the penalty error converges as fast as one should expect from the order of the elements. Moreover, the penalty finite element method by L2 projection can improve the penalty error estimates. Finally, we confirm these results by a series of numerical experiments. Abstract. This paper studies the finite element method for some nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations with memory and dampling terms. A Crank-Nicolson approximation for this kind of equations is presented. By using the elliptic Ritz Volterra projection, the analysis of the error estimates for the finite element numerical solutions and the optimal H1-norm error estimate are demonstrated.  相似文献

A low order anisotropic nonconforming rectangular finite element method for the convection-diffusion problem with a modified characteristic finite element scheme is studied in this paper. The O(h2) order error estimate in L2-norm with respect to the space, one order higher than the expanded characteristic-mixed finite element scheme with order O(h), and the same as the conforming case for a modified characteristic finite element scheme under regular meshes, is obtained by use of some distinct properties of the interpolation operator and the mean value technique, instead of the so-called elliptic projection, which is an indispensable tool in the convergence analysis of the previous literature. Lastly, some numerical results of the element are provided to verify our theoretical analysis.  相似文献
