Blends of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) with butadiene rubber (BR) with varying ratios have been prepared. Vulcanization of prepared blends has been induced by ionizing radiation of gamma rays with varying dose up to 250 kGy. Physical properties, namely soluble fraction and swelling number have been followed up using toluene as a solvent. Mechanical properties, namely tensile strength, tensile modulus at 100% elongation and elongation at break have been followed up as a function of irradiation dose, as well as blend composition. Thermal stability of blends was studied by TGA. The result indicated that the addition of NBR has improved the properties of NBR/BR blends. Also, NBR/BR blend is thermally stable than BR alone.  相似文献

This article deals with blends based on natural rubber (NR) and recycled ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (R-EPDM). Natural rubber latex (NRL) was introduced into the blends to enhance interfacial adhesion between NR and R-EPDM. A new route of compounding was also suggested. The blends were prepared by mixing R-EPDM and other additives in NRL before blending with natural rubber on a two-roll mill. By applying this method, the homogeneity of the blends and cross-linking distribution are significantly improved. The blends exhibited superior state of cure, swelling resistance, mechanical properties and dynamic mechanical properties. The degree of entanglement between NR and R-EPDM also increased after NRL modification.  相似文献

Biocompatibilizer-based refined, bleached, deodorized palm stearin was successfully used as compatibilizer for natural rubber/recycled ethylene–propylene–diene rubber (NR/R-EPDM) blends. It seems effective in improving the state of cure, tensile properties, as well as the swelling resistance and morphology of the blends, indicating an improvement in compatibility between the NR matrix and R-EPDM rendered by biocompatibilizer. This was clearly verified by the dynamic mechanical properties of the blends. The dynamic responses obtained were clearly corresponding to the swelling result. It proves that the cross-link density plays a major role in the changes of storage modulus and degree of entanglement.  相似文献

High styrene rubber (HSR)/styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) blends at different ratios were exposed to various doses of electron beam irradiation. The effect of irradiation dose and blend ratios on the mechanical properties and shape memory characteristics in terms of strain fixation) rate (Rf) and strain recovery rate (Rr) was investigated. The results revealed that rich styrene blends displayed higher tensile strength and hardness than low styrene content blends at all irradiation doses. However, elongation at break, and toughness were lower for rich styrene content. Also, it was observed that for most specimens, the tensile strength, elongation at break and hardness increases up to100 kGy. Increasing irradiation doses resulted in slight deterioration in some mechanical properties only for low styrene content at150 kGy. According to the normalized tensile stress at 25% elongation, it was found that the contribution of irradiation in enhancing the mechanical properties is higher for rich butadiene blends. On the other hand, it was observed that rich styrene content blends possess higher Rf and Rr at all the irradiation doses and stretching temperatures. However, the increase of irradiation dose decreases Rf values; the extent of this decrease depends on the blend ratios. Conversely, for all blends, Rr were increased by increasing irradiation dose and styrene content ratios.  相似文献

This research work has concerned a study on toughness of PVC/natural rubber (NR) blends compatibilized with epoxidized natural rubber (ENR). The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of degree of epoxidation on morphology and mechanical properties of the blends. Epoxidized natural rubber with a variety of epoxidation contents were prepared by reacting the NR latex with formic acid and hydrogen peroxide at various chemical contents. Chemical structure and epoxidation content of epoxidized natural rubber were evaluated by FTIR and 1H-NMR techniques. After that, three grades of ENR with epoxidation contents of 15, 25 and 42 % (by mole) were further used for blending with PVC and NR in an internal mixer at 60 rpm and at 170 °C. From tensile and impact tests, it was found that tensile elongation and impact strength of the materials remarkably increased with degree of epoxidation. On the other hand, tensile strength and modulus of the materials rarely changed with the epoxidation content. An increase in toughness of the blends with epoxidation content was related to a better molecular interaction between PVC and ENR as suggested by torque-time curves of the materials.  相似文献

The mechanical and physical properties of blends based essentially on nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) and different ratios of high density polyethylene (HDPE) up to 25 parts per hundred part of rubber (phr) before and after electron beam irradiation were investigated. The values of tensile strength (TS), tensile modulus at 50% elongation (M50), hardness and gel fraction % (GF%) of NBR/HDPE blends were increased with both irradiation dose and by increasing the content of HDPE in the blends. On the other hand, the values of elongation at break (E b ) were decreased with both irradiation dose and the content of HDPE in the blends. By loading NBR/HDPE (100/25) blend with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer the mechanical and physico-chemical properties were improved. Moreover, the degree of improvement is proportional to the loading content of EVA.  相似文献

Summary: In this study, blends of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) were studied for their mechanical and thermal properties as a function of the PBAT content. Tensile testing, impact testing, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMTA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the blends. It was observed that PLA/PBAT blends maintained quite high modulus and tensile strength compared to pure PLA. Small amounts of PBAT improved the elongation at break and the impact resistance showing a debonding effect typical of rubber toughened systems.  相似文献

The goal of this work was to study gamma irradiation ageing of rubber blends based on acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) and chlorosulphonated polyethylene rubber (CSM) reinforced by silica nano particles. The NBR/CSM compounds (50: 50, w/w) filled with different content of filler (0–100 phr) were crosslinked by sulfur. The vulcanization characteristics were assessed using the rheometer with an oscillating disk. The vulcanizates were prepared in a hydraulic press. The obtained materials were exposed to the different irradiation doses (100, 200, 300 and 400 kGy). The mechanical properties (hardness, modulus at 100% elongation, tensile strength and elongation at break) and swelling numbers were assessed before and after gamma irradiation ageing.  相似文献

Electron beam irradiation of poly(iminohexamethylene-iminoadipoyl) (Polyamide-6,6) films was carried out over a range of irradiation doses (20–500 kGy) in air. The mechanical properties were studied and the optimum radiation dose was 200 kGy, where the ultimate tensile stress (UTS), 10% modulus, elongation at break (EB) and toughness showed significant improvement over the unirradiated film. At a dose of 200 kGy, the UTS was improved by 19%, the 10% modulus by 9% and the EB by 200% over the control. The dynamic mechanical properties of the films were studied in the temperature region 303–473 K to observe the changes in the glass transition temperature (Tg) and loss tangent (tan δ) with radiation dose. The storage modulus of the film receiving a radiation dose of 200 kGy was higher than the unirradiated film. The water uptake characteristics of the Polyamide-6,6 films were investigated. The water uptake was less for the films that received a radiation dose of 200 and 500 kGy than the unirradiated film. The role of crystallinity, crosslinking and chain scission in affecting the tensile, dynamic mechanical and water absorption properties was discussed.  相似文献

A new method was used to prepare thermoplastic elastomers based on polypropylene (PP)/recycled acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBRr) with improved mechanical properties. An epoxy resin (EP) was used as a compatibilizing agent. The effect of EP on mechanical properties, swelling percentage and morphological characteristics of the blends was investigated with different blend compositions. The results showed that the incorporation of EP has improved the tensile strength, Young's modulus and elongation at break of PP/NBRr-EP blends compared with PP/NBRr blends. The enhancement of tensile properties of PP/NBRr-EP blends is due to the better adhesion between the two phases with the incorporation of EP. This is quite evident by scanning electron microscopy of tensile fractured surfaces. PP/NBRr-EP blend exhibits lower stabilization torque and swelling percentage than PP/NBRr blends. The lower stabilization torque is an indication of better processing characteristics.  相似文献

Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) was mixed with high density polyethylene (HDPE) thermoplastics with different ratio namely (100/20), (100/40), (100/60) and (100/80). The obtained blends were subjected to gamma irradiation with varying dose from 50 to 250 kGy. The induced crosslinking and hence the improvement in the different properties were followed up as a function of irradiation dose. Mechanical properties as tensile strength, tensile modulus at 50 % elongation, elongation at break percent, permanent set and hardness were carried out as a function of irradiation dose and blend ratio. Moreover, physical properties namely, gel fraction % and swelling number were found to improve with the increase of irradiation dose up to 250 kGy and with the increase of the content of HDPE in blend. Moreover, presence of NBR enhances the shrinking properties of the obtained blend which can be used as a good heat shrinkable material.  相似文献

Characterization of Rubber Epoxy Blends by Thermal Analysis   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) of the blends ofepoxy cresol novolac (ECN) resin toughened with liquid carboxy terminated butadiene-co-acrylonitrile (CTBN) rubber have been carried out. Exothermal heat of reaction (ΔH) due to crosslinking of the resin in presence of diaminodiphenyl methane(DDM, as amine hardener) showed a decreasing trend with increasing rubber concentration. Enhancements of thermal stability as well as lower percentage mass loss of the epoxy-rubber blends with increasing rubber concentration have been observed in TG. Dynamic mechanical properties reflected a monotonic decrease in the storage modulus (E′) with increasing rubber content in the blends. The loss modulus (E″) and the loss tangent(tanδ) values, however, showed an increasing trend with rise of the temperature up to a maximum (peak) followed by a gradual fall in both cases. Addition of 10 mass% of CTBN resulted maximum E″ and tanδ. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Natural rubber latex(NRL)and methyl methacrylate(MMA)grafted rubber latex were blended in different ratios and irradiated at various absorbed doses by gamma rays from Co-60 source at room temperature. The tensile properties, swelling ratio and permanent set were measured. The maximum tensile strength and modulus at 500% elongation were obtained at an absorbed dose of 8 kGy.Modulus increases from 6.99 MPa to 9.87 MPa for an increase in proportion of MMA grafted rubber from 40% to 60% in the blend at similar absorbed dose.Elongation at break and swelling ratio decrease with increasing absorbed dose as well as the MMA grafted rubber content in the blends. The decreasing trend of permanent set is high up to 5 kGy absorbed dose, and beyond that dose,it becomes almost flat.  相似文献

In the present study, recycled ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (R-EPDM) was used in an attempt to create a value-added natural rubber (NR) material based on NR/R-EPDM blends. ZnO nanoparticles were also incorporated in a way to replace the conventional ZnO together with special attention to improve the thermo-mechanical performance of the blends. Polyhedral and spherical shapes of ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized, and they were found to have no impurities, with a dimension ranging from 10 to 40 nm. ZnO nanoparticles not only act as a curing activator but also improve the thermal stability and dynamic mechanical properties of the blends.  相似文献

The present study investigated the effects of two types of natural rubber and different blend ratios on the cure, tensile properties and morphology of natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber blends. The blends of natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber were prepared by using laboratory two-roll mill. The result showed that the cure time prolonged with the addition of recycled chloroprene rubber (rCR). Comparability, natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber (SMR L/rCR) blendcured rapidly than epoxidized natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber (ENR 50/rCR) blend. The addition of rCRalso caused a decrement in the tensile strength and elongation at break for both rubber blends. The SMR L/rCR blendsshowed higher tensile strength and elongation at break compared to those of ENR 50/rCR blends at any blend ratios.  相似文献

The mechanical properties and phase morphologies of cis-1,4-butadiene rubber(BR) blended with polyethylene(PE) at different blend ratios were studied. The tensile test results show that the PE exhibits excellent reinforcing capabilities towards BR. Blending BR with PE results in a remarkable enhancement of tensile strength, modulus and the elongation at break simultaneously. An increment of tensile strength from 1.11 MPa to 16.26 MPa was achieved by incorporation of 40 wt% PE in the blends. The modulus and elongation at break of 40/60 PE/BR blends are also about 5 times higher than those of the pure BR treated under exactly the same conditions. The tear test indicates that the tear strength also increases with the increase of PE content. It reaches 58.38 MPa for the 40/60 PE/BR blend, which is approximately 10 times higher than that of the pure BR. Morphological study demonstrates that the PE forms elongated microdomains finely dispersed in the BR matrix when its content is over 30 wt%, which corresponds to the remarkably enhanced mechanical properties.According to the results, reinforcement mechanism of PE toward BR dependent on the microstructure has been discussed and two different mechanisms have been proposed.  相似文献

In this work, molecular structures, dynamic mechanical properties and glass transition temperatures of microbe coagulated natural rubber(NR) samples were analyzed by using pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(py-GC/MS),rubber process analyzer(RPA) and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMA).And the cross-linked network structures and mechanical properties of the corresponding NR vulcanizates were further determined by using nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) crosslink density spectrometer(XLDS-15) and universal testing machines. The results show that NR raw rubber produced by rapidly coagulated with microorganism exhibits a simple molecular structure composition and good dynamic mechanical properties, and the corresponding NR vulcanizates possess the aggregation structure of high cross-linked density,a high glass transition temperature of-61.5 ℃ and high mechanical properties(tensile strength reaches 25.2 MPa),as compared with that coagulated with acetic acid.  相似文献
