Silver nanorods with average diameters of 120-230 nm and aspect ratio of 1.7-5.0 were deposited on the surface of TiO2 films by photoelectrochemical reduction of Ag+ to Ag under UV light. The composite films prepared on soda-lime glass substrates were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results show that the TiO2 film after UV irradiation in AgNO3 solution is composed of anatase phase TiO2 and metallic silver with face centered cubic structure. Other compounds cannot be found in the final films. The maximum deposition content of silver particles on the surface of TiO2 film was obtained with the AgNO3 concentration of 0.1 M. The kinetic growth rates of silver particles can be controlled by photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films. The studies suggest that the growth rates of silver particles increase with the enhancement of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films. The maximum growth rate of silver particles loaded on TiO2 films can be up to 0.353 nm min−1 among samples 1#, 2# and 3#, while the corresponding apparent rate constant of TiO2 is 1.751 × 10−3 min−1.  相似文献

TiO2 has attracted a lot of attention due to its photocatalytic properties and its potential applications in environmental purification and self cleaning coatings, as well as for its high optical transmittance in the visible-IR spectral range, high chemical stability and mechanical resistance. In this paper, we report on the growth of TiO2 nanocrystalline films on Si (1 0 0) substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Rutile sintered targets were irradiated by KrF excimer laser (λ = 248 nm, pulse duration ∼30 ns) in a controlled oxygen environment and at constant substrate temperature of 650 °C. The structural and morphological properties of the films have been studied for different deposition parameters, such as oxygen partial pressure (0.05-5 Pa) and laser fluence (2- 4 J/cm2). X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows the formation of both rutile and anatase phases; however, it is observed that the anatase phase is suppressed at the highest laser fluences. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements were performed to determine the stoichiometry of the grown films. The surface morphology of the deposits, studied by scanning electron (SEM) and atomic force (AFM) microscopies, has revealed nanostructured films. The dimensions and density of the nanoparticles observed at the surface depend on the partial pressure of oxygen during growth. The smallest particles of about 40 nm diameter were obtained for the highest pressures of inlet gas.  相似文献

We study the temperature-dependent transformation of two distinctly synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles from the anatase to the rutile phase. These studies are carried out over the temperature range extending from room temperature to an excess of 800 °C where the anatase to rutile conversion is found to occur. Results obtained for both a sol-gel-generated nanocolloid (3-20 nm) and a sol-gel-generated micelle nanostructure (∼40 nm) are evaluated. While the TiO2 nanocolloid structures aggregate to form larger crystallites as a function of increasing temperature with sizes comparable to the sol-gel-generated micelle structures, the resulting anatase crystallites, which are of a diameter 40-50 nm, appear to transform to comparable or slightly smaller rutile structures at 800 °C. This is in contrast to the transformation to larger rutile structures, observed for larger anatase particles. The importance of kinetic effects is considered as it enhances the rate of anatase to rutile conversion. These characteristics are established using a combination of Raman spectroscopic, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. The relative playoffs of the Raman and X-ray diffraction techniques are considered as they are used for the analysis of particles at the nanoscale, especially when phase transformations are evaluated.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide photocatalysts co-doped with iron (III) and lanthanum were prepared by a facile sol-gel method. The structure of catalysts was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The photocatalytic activities of the samples were evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solutions under visible light (λ > 420 nm) and UV light irradiation. Doping with Fe3+ results in a lower anatase to rutile (A-R) phase transformation temperature for TiO2 particles, while doping with La3+ inhibits the A-R phase transformation, and co-doping samples indicate that Fe3+ partly counteracts the effect of La3+ on the A-R transformation property of TiO2. Fe-TiO2 has a long tail extending up the absorption edges to 600 nm, whereas La-TiO2 results in a red shift of the absorption. However, Fe and La have synergistic effect in the absorption of TiO2. Compared with Fe3+ and La3+ singly doped TiO2, the co-doped simple exhibits excellent visible light and UV light activity and the synergistic effect of Fe3+ and La3+ is responsible for improving the photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

The interaction of vanadium oxide with epitaxial anatase films exposing (1 0 1) terraces was characterized. The TiO2 films were grown on vicinal LaAlO3 (1 1 0) substrates by oxygen plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (OPA-MBE); reflection high energy and low energy electron diffraction (RHEED and LEED) indicated that the films exposed (1 0 1) terraces of the anatase TiO2 polymorph. When a vanadium oxide monolayer was deposited onto the anatase surface by OPA-MBE at 725 K, only (1 × 1) RHEED and LEED patterns were observed. The V X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) peak intensities indicated that the monolayer wetted the anatase surface and so the diffraction patterns were attributed to an epitaxial vanadia layer. Analysis of the vanadium oxide monolayer by X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopies revealed that the V was predominantly 5+. When the vanadia coverage was increased at 725 K, Auger electron spectra showed only very slow attenuation of the anatase Ti peaks while spots began to develop in RHEED patterns recorded along the LaAlO3 direction; both indicative of 3-D cluster formation. In the orthogonal direction, the RHEED patterns showed unusual diagonal streaks. Meanwhile, the (1 × 1) LEED pattern persisted even after 30 nm of vanadia was deposited. This was attributed to gaps between the 3-D clusters exposing the epitaxial monolayer. Core level XPS spectra of the 3-D clusters revealed a broad V 2p3/2 peak that was centered at the position expected for V4+ but could be deconvoluted into three peaks corresponding to V3+, V4+, and V5+. It is shown that crystallographic shear that accommodates such variations in the oxygen content of V oxides can lead to the diagonal streaks in RHEED patterns recorded along the LaAlO3 [0 0 1] direction even as the pattern in the orthogonal direction shows sharp transmission spots. The results show that vanadia growth on anatase (1 0 1) proceeds through the Stranski-Krastanov mode with a strong vanadia-titania interaction stabilizing a dispersed vanadia monolayer. The results are compared with previous data for vanadia growth on anatase (0 0 1) where smooth, epitaxial VO2 films grow ad infinitum.  相似文献

We have investigated the geometric and electronic structures of the cerium oxide (CeO2)-titanium dioxide (TiO2) mixed oxides with various Ce/TiO2 weight ratios prepared by the sol-gel method in detail by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy excited by 325 and 514.5 nm lasers, and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Existence of cerium effectively inhibits the phase transition of TiO2 from the anatase phase to the rutile phase. XRD peaks of TiO2 anatase attenuate continuously with the increasing amount of CeO2 in the mixed oxide, but the XRD peaks of cubic CeO2 appear only after the weight ratio of Ce/TiO2 reaches 0.50. The average crystalline sizes of TiO2 anatase and cubic CeO2 in CeO2-TiO2 mixed oxides are smaller than those in the corresponding individual TiO2 anatase and cubic CeO2. Raman spectroscopy excited by the 514.5 nm laser detects CeO2 after the weight ratio of Ce/TiO2 reaches 0.70 whereas Raman spectroscopy excited by the 325 nm laser detects CeO2 after the weight ratio of Ce/TiO2 reaches 0.90. XPS results demonstrate that Ti exists in the form of Ti4+ in the CeO2-TiO2 mixed oxide. Ce is completely in the form of Ce3+ in the mixed oxides with a 0.05 weight ratio of Ce/TiO2. With the increasing weight ratio of Ce/TiO2, Ce4+ dominates. On basis of these results, we proposed that CeO2 initially nucleates at the defects (oxygen vacancies) within TiO2 anatase, forming an interface bridged with oxygen between CeO2 and TiO2 anatase. At the interface, Ce species cannot substitute Ti4+ in the lattice of TiO2 anatase whereas Ti4+ can substitute Ce4+ in the lattice of cubic CeO2. The decreasing concentration of oxygen vacancies, the Ti-O-Ce interface, and the decreasing average crystalline size of TiO2 anatase act to inhibit the phase transformation of TiO2 anatase. With the increasing amounts of CeO2, the CeO2 clusters continuously grow and form cubic CeO2 nanocrystals. Spectroscopic results strongly demonstrate that the surface region of CeO2-TiO2 mixed oxide is enriched with TiO2.  相似文献

To understand the role of dopant inside TiO2 matrix, anatase TiO2 was doped with transition metal ions like Mn2+, Fe3+, Ru3+ and Os3+ having unique half filled electronic configuration and their photocatalytic activity was probed in the degradation of Indigo Carmine (IC) and 4-nitrophenol (NP) under UV/solar light. For comparison, TiO2 was also doped with V5+, Ni2+ and Zn2+ metal ions having d0, d8 and d10 electronic configuration respectively. Irrespective of excitation source UV/solar light and nature of the organic pollutant, photocatalytic activities of doped photocatalysts followed the order: Mn2+-TiO2 > Fe3+-TiO2 > Ru3+-TiO2 ≥ Os3+-TiO2 > Zn2+-TiO2 > V5+-TiO2 > Ni2+-TiO2 at an optimum concentration of dopant. Based on the experimental results obtained, it is proposed that the existence of dopant with half filled electronic configuration in TiO2 matrix which is known to enhance the photocatalytic activity is not universal! Rather it is a complex function of several physicochemical-electronic properties of doped titania. Enhanced photocatalytic activity of Mn2+ (0.06 at.%)-TiO2 was attributed to the combined factors of high positive reduction potential of Mn2+/Mn3+ pairs, synergistic effects in the mixed polymorphs of anatase and rutile, smaller crystallite size with high intimate contact between two phases and favorable surface structure of the photocatalyst. Despite the intense research devoted to transition metal ion doped TiO2, it is rather difficult to make unifying conclusion which is highlighted in this study.  相似文献

Visible-light-activated Ce-Si co-doped TiO2 photocatalyst   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
To enhance the visible photocatalytic activity and thermal stability of TiO2, Ce-Si co-doped TiO2 materials were synthesized through a nonaqueous method of which the purpose was to reduce the aggregation between TiO2 particles. The obtained materials maintained anatase phase and large surface area of 103.3 m2 g−1 even after calcined at 800 °C. The XPS results also indicated that Si was weaved into the lattice of TiO2, and Ce mainly existed as oxides on the surface of TiO2 particles. The doped Si might enhance surface area and suppress transformation from anatase to rutile, while the doped Ce might cause visible absorption and inhibit crystallite growth during heat treatment. Evaluated by decomposing dye Rhodamine B, visible photocatalytic activity of Ce-Si co-doped TiO2 was obviously higher than that of pure TiO2 and reached the maximum at Ce and Si contents of 0.5 mol% and 10 mol%.  相似文献

Phase transition from anatase to rutile for the 70 nm TiO2 crystallite has been investigated by the time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) technique. The study involved the annealing of the TiO2 nanocrystals, adsorbed with the nuclear probe (181Hf/181Ta) at trace level, at different temperatures for different durations. The TDPAC measurement was also supported by XRD measurement where the width of the peaks increases with the increase in annealing temperature indicating a crystal growth. The samples annealed up to 823 K for 4 h showed no phase transition, except for the growth of the crystallites. However, it showed phase transition at the same temperature (823 K), when annealed for longer duration, indicating the slower kinetics of the phase transition process. Further the sample, when annealed at 1123 K for 4 h, showed phase transition. It has also been observed that the 181Hf tracer, adsorbed on 70 nm anatase TiO2, diffuses from surface to bulk during the phase transition process and the extent of diffusion in anatase differs from that in rutile phase. However, surface to bulk mass-transfer is found to play a significant role in the phase transition process.  相似文献

TiO2 films deposited on unheated substrates of alumina silicate glass by rf. (13.56 MHz) magnetron sputtering in the mixture of O2 and Ar gases have been studied with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and optical spectroscopy. Structural and optical properties of TiO2 films deposited at different O2 concentrations and total pressures have been analyzed. Photocatalytic properties of TiO2 films were characterized by following the degradation of methylene blue molecules under UV irradiation. It was found that the rate of methylene blue decomposition strongly depends on morphology and crystallinity of the deposited films, namely on the content of the anatase phase and on the size of the anatase grains. The best photocatalytic activity was found on TiO2 films consisting of pure anatase phase with the size of grains of about 450 Å. With the help of those films a thin film reactor for water purification has been designed and tested.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline TiO2 structures are formed by irradiation of 100 MeV Au8+ ion beam on amorphous thin films of TiO2. Surface morphology of the nanocrystals is studied by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Amorphous to nanocrystalline phase transformation is identified by Glancing Angle X-ray Diffraction (GAXRD) and Raman spectroscopic studies. Optical characterization is carried out by UV-VIS spectroscopy technique. Blue shift observed in absorption band edge indicates the formation of nanophase TiO2 after irradiation. The impinging swift heavy ion (100 MeV Au8+) induces nucleation of nanoparticles along the ion trajectory through inelastic collisions of the projectile with electrons of the material. It is observed that the shape and size of nanoparticles formed is dependant on the irradiation fluence.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films doping of various iron ion (Fe3+) concentrations were deposited on silicon (Si) (100) and quartz substrates by sol-gel Spin Coating technique followed by a thermal treatment at 600 °C. The structure, surface morphology and optical properties, as a function of the doping, have been studied by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) and Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE). XRD and Raman analyzes of our thin films show that the crystalline phase of TiO2 thin films comprised only the anatase TiO2, but the crystallinity decreased when the Fe3+ content increased from 0% to 20%. During the Fe3+ addition to 20%, the phase of TiO2 thin film still maintained the amorphous state. The grain size calculated from XRD patterns varies from 29.3 to 22.6 nm. The complex index and the optical band gap (Eg) of the films were determined by the spectroscopic ellipsometry analysis. We have found that the optical band gap decreased with an increasing Fe3+ content.  相似文献

Luminescence spectra obtained by electron bombardment (cathodoluminescence, CL) on TiO2 (anatase)/carbon nanotubes (CNT) composite, show only one visible band at 498 nm, while the spectra taken from pure anatase samples show two bands at 498 and 545 nm. We demonstrate that the visible luminescence bands are originated by TiO2 surface defects due to oxygen vacancies, and that this luminescence signal is independent of TiO2 mineral form (anatase or rutile). Moreover we obtain that the 545 nm band quenching in TiO2/CNT composites is caused by empty oxygen vacancies (OV) related to oxygen given from oxygen-rich pristine powder of carbon nanotubes. Our conclusions are also supported by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), SEM analysis and energy dispersed X-ray measurements (EDX). Furthermore we can confirm that the NIR TiO2 luminescence emission is linked only to the presence of Ti rutile form as described in several works in literature.  相似文献

Anatase phase TiO2 films have been grown on fused silica substrate by pulsed laser deposition technique at substrate temperature of 750 °C under the oxygen pressure of 5 Pa. From the transmission spectra, the optical band gap and linear refractive index of the TiO2 films were determined. The third-order optical nonlinearities of the films were measured by Z-scan method using a femtosecond laser (50 fs) at the wavelength of 800 nm. The real and imaginary parts of third-order nonlinear susceptibility χ(3) were determined to be −7.1 × 10−11esu and −4.42 × 10−12esu, respectively. The figure of merit, T, defined by T=βλ/n2, was calculated to be 0.8, which meets the requirement of all-optical switching devices. The results show that the anatase TiO2 films have great potential applications for nonlinear optical devices.  相似文献

TiO2 μ-donuts have been fabricated on glass and silicon substrates using polymer masks in combination with a sol-gel technique. Cylindrical poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) nanopillars have been created using a composite polymer of polystyrene (PS) and PMMA followed by careful removal of the PS. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) analyses show that the height and diameter of the PMMA cylinders used as the mask are 440 ± 5 nm and 2.1 ± 0.2 μm, respectively. The cylindrical PMMA nanopillars have been coated with the sol of the TiO2 precursor by a spin coating technique and annealed in air at elevated temperature to remove the PMMA mask. Removal of the PMMA mask has resulted in the formation of well ordered μ-donuts of TiO2 on silicon surfaces. The interior and exterior heights of the TiO2 μ-donuts are found to be 373 ± 152 nm and 457 ± 136 nm, respectively; and the interior and exterior diameters of the TiO2 μ-donuts are found to be 1.33 ± 0.63 μm and 2.82 ± 0.50 μm, respectively. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra of the TiO2 μ-donuts as well as the smooth TiO2 thin film showed signals from Ti and O confirming the presence of TiO2 with Ti 2p3/2 and O 1s peaks at 458.8 eV and 530.4 eV, respectively. The O 1s peak of the TiO2 μ-donuts shows another peak at binding energy 532.0 eV due to SiO2, as during annealing, the PMMA evaporates and the Si substrate is exposed. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD) pattern of the smooth TiO2 thin film indicates that the anatase phase is present, with the characteristic peaks observed at 2θ values of 25.4°, 37.4°, and 48° corresponding to (1 0 1), (0 0 4), and (2 0 0) planes, respectively. UV-vis absorption spectra of TiO2 μ-donuts on glass showed an unusual absorption of light in the visible region at ∼524 nm in addition to the usual UV absorption at ∼337 nm.  相似文献

TiO2 nanoparticles have been prepared by simple chemical precipitation method and annealed at different temperatures. The as-prepared TiO2 are amorphous, and they transform into anatase phase on annealing at 450 °C, and rutile phase on annealing at 900 °C. The X-ray diffraction results showed that TiO2 nanoparticles with grain size in the range of 21–24 nm for anatase phase and 69–74 nm for rutile phase have been obtained. FESEM images show the formation of TiO2 nanoparticles with small size in structure. The FTIR and Raman spectra exhibited peaks corresponding to the anatase and rutile structure phases of TiO2. Optical absorption studies reveal that the absorption edge shifts towards longer wavelength (red shift) with increase of annealing temperature.  相似文献

Iodine-doped TiO2 nanocrystallites (denoted as I-TNCs) were prepared via a newly developed triblock copolymer-mediated sol-gel method at a temperature of 393 K. I-doping, crystallization and the formation of porous structure have been simultaneously achieved. The obtained particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The results indicated that the as-prepared I-TNCs possessed a diameter of ca. 5 nm with anatase crystalline structure and a specific surface area of over 200 m2 g−1. The presence of iodine expanded the photoresponse in visible light range, and led to enrich in surface hydroxyl group on the TiO2 surface. Compared with the commercial photocatalyst P25, the I-TNCs significantly enhanced the photocatalytic efficiency in the degradation of rhodamine B and 2,4-dichlorophenol, and the I-TNCs with 2.5 mol% doping ratio exhibited the best photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

YBO3:Eu3+/Tb3+ nanocrystalline thin films were successfully deposited onto quartz glass substrates by Pechini sol-gel dip-coating method, using rare-earth nitrates and boric acid as starting materials. The crystal structure, morphology, chemical composition and photoluminescence property of the films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and fluorescence spectrophotometer. The results of XRD, AFM, XPS and FTIR revealed that the films were composed of spherical YBO3:Eu3+/Tb3+ nanocrystals with average grain size of 80 nm. The YBO3:Eu3+ film exhibited strong orange emission at 595 nm and red emission at 615 nm, which were, respectively ascribed to the (5D07F1) and (5D07F2) transitions of Eu3+. The YBO3:Tb3+ film showed dominant green emission at 545 nm due to the 5D4-7F5 transition of Tb3+.  相似文献

In this work, structural investigations of TiO2 thin films doped with Tb at the amount of 0.4, 2 and 2.6 at.% have been outlined. Thin films were deposited on Si and SiO2 substrates by high energy reactive magnetron sputtering from mosaic Ti-Tb target. The influence of Tb dopant amount, post-annealing treatment and kind of applied substrate on microstructure has been discussed. Thin films were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). XRD analysis revealed the existence of crystalline TiO2 in anatase and rutile forms, depending on Tb amount in examined samples. AFM images show that as-deposited samples with 0.4 at.% concentration of terbium (anatase structure) have bigger crystallites as compared to 2% and 2.6 at.% of Tb (rutile structure). The additional annealing at 1070 K results in a mixed anatase (77%) and rutile (23%) structure.  相似文献

NiO nanoparticle thin films grown on Si substrates were irradiated by 107 MeV Ag8+ ions. The films were characterized by glancing angle X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. Ag ion irradiation was found to influence the shape and size of the nanoparticles. The pristine NiO film consisted of uniform size (∼100 nm along major axis and ∼55 nm along minor axis) elliptical particles, which changed to also of uniform size (∼63 nm) circular shape particles on irradiation at a fluence of 3 × 1013 ions cm−2. Comparison of XRD line width analysis and AFM data revealed that the particles in the pristine films are single crystalline, which turn to polycrystalline on irradiation with 107 MeV Ag ions.  相似文献
