We investigated the hydrogen bonding structures and proton transfer for the hydration complexes of alizarin (Az) produced in a supersonic jet using fluorescence excitation (FE), dispersed laser induced fluorescence (LIF), visible-visible hole burning (HB), and fluorescence detected infrared (FDIR) spectroscopy. The FDIR spectrum of bare Az with two O-H groups exhibits two vibrational bands at 3092 and 3579 cm(-1), which, respectively, correspond to the stretching vibration of O1-H1 that forms a strong intramolecular hydrogen bond with the C9=O9 carbonyl group and the stretching vibration of O2-H2 that is weakly hydrogen-bonded to O1-H1. For the 1:1 hydration complex Az(H(2)O)(1), we identified three conformers. In the most stable conformer, the water molecule forms hydrogen bonds with the O1-H1 and O2-H2 groups of Az as a proton donor and proton acceptor, respectively. In the other conformers, the water binds to the C10=O10 group in two nearly isoenergetic configurations. In contrast to the sharp vibronic peaks in the FE spectra of Az and Az(H(2)O)(1), only broad, structureless absorption was observed for Az(H(2)O)(n) (n≥ 2), indicating a facile decay process, possibly due to proton transfer in the electronic excited state. The FDIR spectrum with the wavelength of the probe laser fixed at the broad band exhibited a broad vibrational band near the O2-H2 stretching vibration frequency of the most stable conformer of Az(H(2)O)(1). With the help of theoretical calculations, we suggest that the broad vibrational band may represent the occurrence of proton transfer by tunnelling in the electronic ground state of Az(H(2)O)(n) (n≥ 2) upon excitation of the O2-H2 vibration.  相似文献

Density functional theory B3LYP method with 6‐31G* basis set has been used to optimize the geometries of the catechin, water and catechin‐(H2O)n complexes. The vibrational frequencies have been studied at the same level to analyze these complexes. Six and eleven stable structures for the catechin‐H2O and catechin‐(H2O)2 have been found, respectively. Theories of atoms in molecules (AIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) have been utilized to investigate the hydrogen bonds involved in all the systems. The interaction energies of all the complexes corrected by basis set superposition error, are from ?13.27 to ?83.56 kJ/mol. All calculations also indicate that there are strong hydrogen‐bonding interactions in catechin‐water complexes. The strong hydrogen‐bonding contributes to the interaction energies dominantly. The O–H stretching motions in all the complexes are red‐shifted relative to that of the monomer.  相似文献

Anharmonic vibrational frequencies and intensities are computed for hydrogen fluoride clusters (HF)n, with n = 3, 4 and mixed clusters of hydrogen fluoride with water (HF)n(H2O)n where n = 1, 2. For the (HF)4(H2O)4 complex, the vibrational spectra are calculated at the harmonic level, and anharmonic effects are estimated. Potential energy surfaces for these systems are obtained at the MP2/TZP level of electronic structure theory. Vibrational states are calculated from the potential surface points using the correlation-corrected vibrational self-consistent field method. The method accounts for the anharmonicities and couplings between all vibrational modes and provides fairly accurate anharmonic vibrational spectra that can be directly compared with experimental results without a need for empirical scaling. For (HF)n, good agreement is found with experimental data. This agreement shows that the M?ller-Plesset (MP2) potential surfaces for these systems are reasonably reliable. The accuracy is best for the stiff intramolecular modes, which indicates the validity of MP2 in describing coupling between intramolecular and intermolecular degrees of freedom. For (HF)n(H2O)n experimental results are unavailable. The computed intramolecular frequencies show a strong dependence on cluster size. Intensity features are predicted for future experiments.  相似文献

Intermolecular hydrogen bonding competes with an intramolecular hydrogen bond when methanol binds to an alpha-hydroxyester. Disruption of the intramolecular OH...O=C contact in favour of a cooperative OH...OH...O=C sequence is evidenced by FTIR spectroscopy for the addition of methanol to the esters methyl glycolate, methyl lactate and methyl alpha-hydroxyisobutyrate in seeded supersonic jet expansions. Comparison of the OH stretching modes with quantum-chemical harmonic frequency calculations and 18O labelling of methanol unambiguously prove the insertion of methanol into the intramolecular hydrogen bond. This is in marked contrast to UV/IR hole burning studies of the homologous system methyl lactate: (+/-)-2-naphthyl-1-ethanol, where only addition complexes were found and the intramolecular hydrogen bond was conserved. This switch in hydrogen bond pattern from aliphatic to aromatic heterodimers is thought to reflect not only a kinetic propensity but also a thermodynamic preference for addition complexes when dispersion forces become more important in aromatic systems.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations of protonated methanol-water mixed clusters, H (+)(MeOH) 1(H 2O) n ( n = 1-8), were extensively carried out to analyze the hydrogen bond structures of the clusters. Various structural isomers were energy optimized, and their relative energies with zero point energy corrections and temperature dependence of the free energies were examined. Coexistence of different morphological isomers was suggested. Infrared spectra were simulated on the basis of the optimized structures. The infrared spectra were also experimentally measured for n = 3-9 in the OH stretching vibrational region. The observed broad bands in the hydrogen-bonded OH stretch region were assigned in comparison with the simulations. From the DFT calculations, the preferential proton location was also investigated. Clear correlations between the excess proton location and the cluster morphology were found.  相似文献

We report studies of supersonically cooled water complexes of m-aminobenzoic acid MABA.(H(2)O)n (n = 1 and 2) using two-color resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) and UV-UV hole-burning spectroscopy. Density functional theory calculations are also carried out to identify structural minima of water complexes in the ground state. For the most stable isomers of both complexes, water molecules bind to the pocket of the carboxyl group in a cyclic hydrogen bond network. Vibrational frequency calculations for the first electronically excited state (S(1)) of these isomers agree well with the experimental observation. The addition of water molecules has a major impact on the normal mode that involves local motion of the carboxyl group, while negligible effects are observed for other normal modes. On the basis of the hole-burning experiment, two major isomers for each complex are identified, corresponding to the two conformers of the bare compound. Compared with the other two isomers of aminobenzoic acid, the red shifts of the origin bands due to water complexation in MABA are considerably larger. Similar to p-aminobenzoic acid and different from o-aminobenzoic acid, the existence of the intermolecular stretching mode is ambiguous in the REMPI spectrum of MABA.(H(2)O)n.  相似文献

Eugenol (4-Allyl-2-methoxyphenol), a phenol-derivative with an intramolecular -OH ...OCH(3) hydrogen bond (H bond), has been studied in a supersonic expansion using a number of complementary laser spectroscopic techniques. The mass-resolved excitation spectrum of eugenol and its water complexes are reported for the first time. The most intense set of bands on the resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectrum of eugenol originate in a conformer whose S(1)<--S(0) transition is at 35 202 cm(-1) and the ionization threshold at (I(0)<--S(0)) 62 544+/-150 cm(-1) (7.755+/-0.019 eV). In addition, two low intensity features redshifted with respect to the 0(0) (0) transition have been identified as due to a second, less stable conformer. Ab initio calculations show that the potential energy landscape depicts at least three minima associated with one folded and two extended conformers, one of which is the most stable. Clusters of eugenol/water were prepared in a supersonic expansion by seeding eugenol and water in noble gas He and examined by two-color REMPI (R2PI) and IR-UV double resonance spectroscopies. Only one single isomer was observed for both 1:1 and 1:2 complexes, in contrast with the several stable conformers provided by the computations. The dissociation energies of the 1:1 and 1:2 complexes have been determined by the fragmentation threshold method and the results compared with those from ab initio calculations conducted at the B3LYP and MP2 levels with a variety of basis sets.  相似文献

To properly understand the preferred structures and biological properties of proteins, it is important to understand how they are influenced by their immediate environment. Competitive intrapeptide, peptide...water, ion...water, and ion...peptide interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, play a key role in determining the structures, properties, and functionality of proteins. The primary types of hydrogen bonding involving proteins are intramolecular amide...amide (N-H...O=C) and intermolecular amide...water (O-H...O=C and H-O...H-N). n-Methylacetamide (NMA) is a convenient model for investigating these competitive interactions. An analysis of the IR photodissociation (IRPD) spectra of M+(n-methylacetamide)1(H2O)n=0-3 (M=Na and K) in the O-H and N-H spectral regions is presented. Ab initio calculations (MP2/cc-pVDZ) are used as a guide in identifying both the type and location of hydrogen bonds present. In larger clusters, where several structural isomers may be present in the molecular beam, ab initio calculations are also used to suggest assignments for the observed spectral features. The results presented offer insight to the nature of ion...NMA interactions in an aqueous environment and reveal how different ion...ligand pairwise interactions direct the extent of water...water and water...NMA hydrogen bonding observed.  相似文献

The cooperative forces of aurophilic and hydrogen bonding have been used in the self-assembly of phosphine or diphosphine complexes of gold(I) with the thiolate ligands derived from 2-thiobarbituric acid, SC(4)H(4)N(2)O(2), by single or double deprotonation. The reaction of the corresponding gold(I) trifluoroacetate complex with SC(4)H(4)N(2)O(2) gave the complexes [Au(SC(4)H(3)N(2)O(2))(PPh(3))], 1, [(AuSC(4)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(micro-LL)], with LL = Ph(2)PCH(2)PPh(2), 2a, Ph(2)P(CH(2))(3)PPh(2), 2b, or Ph(2)PCH=CHPPh(2), 2c, or the cyclic complex [Au(2)(micro-SC(4)H(2)N(2)O(2))(micro-Ph(2)PCH(2)CH(2)PPh(2))], 3. In the case with LL = Ph(2)P(CH(2))(6)PPh(2), the reaction led to loss of the diphosphine ligand to give [Au(6)(SC(4)H(3)N(2)O(2))(6)], 4, a hexagold(I) cluster complex in which each gold(I) center has trigonal AuS(2)N coordination. Structure determinations show that 1 has no aurophilic bonding, 2b, 3, and 4 have intramolecular aurophilic bonding, and 2c has intermolecular aurophilic bonding that contributes to the supramolecular structure. All the complexes undergo supramolecular association through strong NH...O and/or OH...N hydrogen bonding, and complex 3 also takes part in CH...O hydrogen bonding. The supramolecular association leads to formation of interesting polymer, sheet, or network structures, and 4 has a highly porous and stable lattice structure.  相似文献

A theoretical study on the structures and vibrational spectra of M+(H2O)Ar0‐1 (M = Cu, Ag, Au) complexes was performed using ab initio method. Geometrical structures, binding energies (BEs), OH stretching vibrational frequencies, and infrared (IR) absorption intensities are investigated in detail for various isomers with Ar atom bound to different binding sites of M+(H2O). CCSD(T) calculations predict that BEs are 14.5, 7.5, and 14.4 kcal/mol for Ar atom bound to the noble metal ion in M+(H2O)Ar (M = Cu, Ag, Au) complexes, respectively, and the corresponding values have been computed to be 1.5, 1.3, and 2.1 kcal/mol when Ar atom attaches to a H atom of water molecule. The former structure is predicted to be more stable than the latter structure. Moreover, when compared with the M+(H2O) species, tagging Ar atom to metal cation yields a minor perturbation on the IR spectra, whereas binding Ar atom to an OH site leads to a large redshift in OH stretching vibrations. The relationships between isomers and vibrational spectra are discussed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2011  相似文献

The hydrated clusters of tetrahydroisoquinoline have been investigated by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), UV-UV hole burning, and IR-UV double-resonance spectroscopy in a seeded supersonic jet. Clusters of different sizes and isomeric structures have different 0-0 transitions (origins) in the LIF spectrum. UV-UV hole burning spectroscopy has been used to identify different cluster species and their vibrational modes. The structures of the clusters have been predicted by comparing the observed OH and NH frequencies in the IR-UV double-resonance spectra with the results calculated at different levels of sophistication. It is found that the water molecules form linear and six- and eight-membered cyclic H-bonded structures at the nitrogen center of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 clusters, respectively.  相似文献

Photoelectron spectra of singly charged dicarboxylate anions HO(2)C(CH(2))(n)CO(2)(-) (n = 1-10) are obtained at two different temperatures (300 and 70 K) at 193 nm. The electron binding energies of these species are observed to be much higher than the singly charged monocarboxylate anions, suggesting that the singly charged dicarboxylate anions are cyclic due to strong intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the terminal -CO(2)H and -CO(2)(-) groups. The measured electron binding energies are observed to depend on the chain length, reflecting the different -CO(2)H...(-)O(2)C- hydrogen bonding strength as a result of strain in the cyclic conformation. A minimum binding energy is found at n = 5, indicating that its intramolecular hydrogen bond is the weakest. At 70 K, all spectra are blue shifted relative to the room-temperature spectra with the maximum binding energy shift occurring at n = 5. These observations suggest that the cyclic conformation of HO(2)C(CH(2))(5)CO(2)(-) (a ten-membered ring) is the most strained among the 10 anions. The present study shows that the -CO(2)H...(-)O(2)C- hydrogen bonding strength is different among the 10 anions and it is very sensitive to the strain in the cyclic conformations.  相似文献

The complexes of glyoxal (Gly), methylglyoxal (MGly), and diacetyl (DAc) with water have been studied using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) matrix isolation spectroscopy and MP2 calculations with 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set. The analysis of the experimental spectra of the Gly(MGly,DAc)/H2O/Ar matrixes indicates formation of one Gly...H2O complex, three MGly...H2O complexes, and two DAc...H2O ones. All the complexes are stabilized by the O-H...O(C) hydrogen bond between the water molecule and carbonyl oxygen as evidenced by the strong perturbation of the O-H, C=O stretching vibrations. The blue shift of the CH stretching vibration in the Gly...H2O complex and in two MGly...H2O ones suggests that these complexes are additionally stabilized by the improper C-H...O(H2) hydrogen bonding. The theoretical calculations confirm the experimental findings. They evidence the stability of three hydrogen-bonded Gly...H2O and DAc...H2O complexes and six MGly...H2O ones stabilized by the O-H...O(C) hydrogen bond. The calculated vibrational frequencies and geometrical parameters indicate that one DAc..H2O complexes, two Gly...H2O, and three MGly...H2O ones are additionally stabilized by the improper hydrogen bonding between the C-H group and water oxygen. The comparison of the theoretical frequencies with the experimental ones allowed us to attribute the calculated structures to the complexes present in the matrixes.  相似文献

Density functional B3LYP method with 6-31++G** basis set is applied to optimize the geometries of the luteolin, water and luteolin–(H2O)n complexes. The vibrational frequencies are also studied at the same level to analyze these complexes. We obtained four steady luteolin–H2O, nine steady luteolin–(H2O)2 and ten steady luteolin–(H2O)3, respectively. Theories of atoms in molecules (AIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) are used to investigate the hydrogen bonds involved in all the systems. The interaction energies of all the complexes corrected by basis set superposition error, are within −13.7 to −82.5 kJ/mol. The strong hydrogen bonding mainly contribute to the interaction energies, Natural bond orbital analysis is performed to reveal the origin of the interaction. All calculations also indicate that there are strong hydrogen bonding interactions in luteolin–(H2O)n complexes. The OH stretching modes of complexes are red-shifted relative to those of the monomer.  相似文献

The hydrogen bonding of 1:1 complexes formed between serine and water molecules were completely investigated in the present study employing ab initio and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods at varied basis set levels from 6‐31g to 6‐311++g (2d,2p). For comparison, we also used the second‐order Moller–Plesset Perturbation (MP2) method at the 6‐31+g(d) level. Twelve reasonable geometries on the potential energy hypersurface of serine and water system were considered with the global minimum, 10 of which are cyclic double‐hydrogen bonded structures and the other two are one‐hydrogen bonded structures. The optimized geometric parameters and interaction energies for various isomers at different levels were estimated. The infrared spectrum frequencies, IR intensities, and the vibrational frequency shifts are reported. Finally, the solvent effects on the geometries of the serine–water complexes were also investigated using self‐consistent reaction‐field (SCRF) calculations at the B3LYP/6‐311++g(d,p) level. The results indicate that the polarity of the solvent played an important role in the structures and relative stabilities of different isomers. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The energies, geometries and harmonic vibrational frequencies of 1:1 5‐hydroxytryptamine‐water (5‐HT‐H2O) complexes are studied at the MP2/6‐311++G(d,p) level. Natural bond orbital (NBO), quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analyses and the localized molecular orbital energy decomposition analysis (LMO‐EDA) were performed to explore the nature of the hydrogen‐bonding interactions in these complexes. Various types of hydrogen bonds (H‐bonds) are formed in these 5‐HT‐H2O complexes. The intermolecular C4H55‐HT···Ow H‐bond in HTW3 is strengthened due to the cooperativity, whereas no such cooperativity is found in the other 5‐HT‐H2O complexes. H‐bond in which nitrogen atom of amino in 5‐HT acted as proton donors was stronger than other H‐bonds. Our researches show that the hydrogen bonding interaction plays a vital role on the relative stabilities of 5‐HT‐H2O complexes.  相似文献

An ab initio investigation of the potential energy surfaces and vibrational energies and wave functions of the anion, neutral, and cation Cu(H(2)O) complexes is presented. The equilibrium geometries and harmonic frequencies of the three charge states of Cu(H(2)O) are calculated at the MP2 level of theory. CCSD(T) calculations predict a vertical electron detachment energy for the anion complex of 1.65 eV and a vertical ionization potential for the neutral complex of 6.27 eV. Potential energy surfaces are calculated for the three charge states of the copper-water complexes. These potential energy surfaces are used in variational calculations of the vibrational wave functions and energies and from these, the dissociation energies D(0) of the anion, neutral, and cation charge states of Cu(H(2)O) are predicted to be 0.39, 0.16, and 1.74 eV, respectively. In addition, the vertical excitation energies, that correspond to the 4 (2)P<--4 (2)S transition of the copper atom, and ionization potentials of the neutral Cu(H(2)O) are calculated over a range of Cu(H(2)O) configurations. In hydrogen-bonded, Cu-HOH configurations, the vertical excitation and ionization energies are blueshifted with respect to the corresponding values for atomic copper, and in Cu-OH(2) configurations where the copper atom is located near the oxygen end of water, both quantities are redshifted.  相似文献

Geometries and dissociation energies of water molecules on Al(n) (n = 2-25) clusters were investigated using density functional theory with all electron relativistic spin-polarized calculations under the generalized gradient approximation. An extensive structure search was performed to identify the low-energy conformations of Al(n)H(2)O complexes for each size. Optimal adsorption sites were assigned for low-energy isomers of the clusters. Size and site specific dependences were studied for the Al(n)H(2)O complexes in stabilities, geometries, adsorption energies, dissociation energies, Al-O bond lengths, and other characteristic quantities. The stabilities and geometries revealed that H atom in H(2)O is not inclined to bond with Al atoms. The most stable Al(n)H(2)O configurations for each size tend to correspond to the most stable bare Al(n) cluster except of Al(6) and Al(24) clusters. The HO bond lengths increase generally 0.01 ? with respect to the isolated H(2)O in all of the adsorption complexes. The dissociation energy of an isolated H(2)O into HO and H was 5.39 eV, which decreased about two-thirds to the energy range of 0.83-2.12 eV with the help of Al(n) clusters. In spite of the fluctuations, the dissociation energies of Al(n)H(2)O complexes rise with the size increasing as a whole. In addition, we also found that the bare Al(n) clusters with high vertical ionization potentials usually have high dissociation energies of H(2)O in the corresponding adsorption models. The energetically preferred spin-multiplicity of all the odd-n Al(n)H(2)O complexes is doublet, and it is singlet for all the even-n complexes with exception of Al(2)H(2)O which is triplet.  相似文献

2-(5-Methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-4-bromo/nitro-phenols (HLBr and HLNO2) and their Zn(II) complexes with ZnX2 (X = Cl, I, NO3) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectra. The OH proton appears near the NH protons in the 1H NMR spectra of the ligands because of the strong intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the OH hydrogen and the C=N nitrogen atoms. The complexation is investigated in ethanol and isopropanol and it is observed that isopropanol is a better solvent than ethanol for the complex forming. HLBr gives harder complexation reaction with Zn(II) according to HLNO2 because of the stronger intramolecular hydrogen bonding in HLBr, and the both ligands react easier with Zn(NO3)2 than ZnCl2 and ZnI2. The Zn(II) complexes of HLBr have 1:1 M:L ratio and ionic character, however, HLNO2 give a non-ionic complex that has 1:2 M:L ratio. In the complexes the phenolic hydrogen is eliminated and a chelate structure is formed.  相似文献

Infrared photodissociation spectra of Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n) (n = 1-4) and Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n)-Ar (n = 1-3) were measured in the OH stretching region, 3000-3800 cm(-1). For n = 1 and 2, sharp absorption bands were observed in the free OH stretching region, all of which were well reproduced by the spectra calculated for the solvated-type geometry with no hydrogen bond. For n = 3 and 4, there were broad vibrational bands in the energy region of hydrogen-bonded OH stretching vibrations, 3000-3500 cm(-1). Energies of possible isomers for the Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(3),4 ions with hydrogen bonds were calculated in order to assign these bands. It was found that the third and fourth methanol molecules form hydrogen bonds with methanol molecules in the first solvation shell, rather than a direct bonding with the Al(+) ion. For the Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n) clusters with n = 1-4, we obtained no evidence of the insertion reaction, which occurs in Al(+)(H(2)O)(n). One possible explanation of the difference between these two systems is that the potential energy barriers between the solvated and inserted isomers in the Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n) system is too high to form the inserted-type isomers.  相似文献
