使用两块长度各为65 mm的MgO:LiNbO3和无掺杂LiNbO3晶体,以1064nm的Q开关Nd:YAG激光器作为抽运光源,在12 mJ/pulse的抽运光能量下得到频率范围为0.34~2.90 THz的电磁辐射.分析表明,激光入射使LiNbO3晶体中具有电磁特性的横光学声子可以和入射光子形成耦合场量子.作为一种电磁特性的元激发,LINbO3晶体的耦合场量子的辐射场频率覆盖部分太赫兹频段范围,并可通过耦合场量子受激拉曼散射过程辐射THz波.根据耦合场量子辐射理论,通过分析晶体的耦合场量子色散特性曲线,可以确定该晶体能否辐射THz波及其带宽范围.  相似文献

The interaction system of a semi-infinite diatomic dielectric and the electromagnetic field propagating parallelly to the surface is studied. The long-wave optical phonon modes of the semi-infinite dielectric are calculated including the electronic polarizability by a quantum-mechanical theory. Retardation effects are neglected. A quantum field theory method of surface polaritons is developed to calculate the operator describing the interaction between a photon and the phonon polarization fields of the semi-infinite crystal, with explicit inclusion of surface effects. The dispersion relations of the surface phonon-polaritons are derived and discussed. The results are in good agreement with those obtained by the conventional, macroscopic dielectric theory of surface polaritons and experimental ATR (attenuated total reflection) spectra. The dispersion cuwes of polariton leaking modes caused by the interaction between bulk TO mode with surface effect and photons are presented in a graphical form. The k||-dependence of the electric field strength in each polariton branch is calculated and presented also in a graphical form. We also research the spatial dependence of the field strength in each polariton branch. It is found that these properties are influenced and modulated by the surface phonons because of the interaction between photons and the surface phonon modes of the semi-infinite dielectric system. Hence the divergent nature (diffraction effect) of light propagating along the fib& and waveguides is restrained. We present a method how to use the boundary conditions in the quantum theory, which will be discussed in detail.  相似文献

This work contains a theoretical analysis of the optical properties of semiconductor quantum wells embedded in planar Fabry-Perot microcavities. In particular, the properties of the system in correspondence to the excitonic transition are studied by means of the polariton formalism. The polariton states in microcavities are derived and the polar-iton dispersion is presented. Particular emphasis is put on the existence of two well distinct regimes depending on the exciton and cavity parameters: strong coupling and weak coupling regime. The main experimental results are reviewed and compared with the prediction of the theory. After the polariton states have been characterized, the optical response of the system is discussed, with particular attention to the photoluminescence measurements. The polariton formation and relaxation through phonon scattering and the effect of the exciton inhomogeneous broadening are considered and, finally, a phe-nomenological model for the polariton photoluminescence spectra is presented.  相似文献

Surface polariton spectra of magnesium oxide films (of thickness ranging from 10 to 300 nm) prepared by chemical vapor deposition technique on sapphire substrates have been studied. The splitting of the dispersion curve of the sapphire surface polariton appears near 700 cm−1 due to the resonance interaction of the sapphire substrate surface polariton with the film optical phonon. This splitting is proportional to the square root of the film thickness. Optical constants of ultrathin magnesium oxide films have been obtained from surface polariton spectra measurements. For the thinnest film (10 nm) they appear to be close to the bulk crystal values.  相似文献

Infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy has been used to investigate phonon, plasmon, surface polariton and plasma-longitudinal optical phonon coupling in highly donor doped multi quantum wells (GaAs/Al0.33Ga0.67As) and direct band gap n- type AlXGa1-XAs thin layer on GaAs substrate. Using different samples with different concentration of free carriers. The dispersion equation of coupling modes have been calculated by using the condition which the dielectric functions of samples are zero for longitudinal coupled modes and experimental papameters which have been obtained from the best fit p-polarized oblique incidence far infrared reflection spectra. In MQW samples, the free carriers confined to the well and carriers are quasi two dimensional. So, plasmon- LO phonon coupling occur in the well (GaAs). In n- type AlXGa1-XAs thin layer, the coupled modes consist of three branches of the high, intermediate and low frequency modes. Their frequencies depend on both concentration and alloy composition. To analyses the surface polariton modes we carry out attenuated total reflection (ATR) measurements. In order to support our assignment the magnetic field profiles and surface polariton dispersion curves have been calculated.  相似文献

We present a model which describes the influence of lattice vibrations on the excitonpolariton. We solve the density matrix equation for the coupled photon-exciton-phonon system where the model of Haken and Strobl is used to describe the exciton phonon coupling which is responsible for the incoherent part of the motion. Our model allows us to calculate the dispersion relation of the damped polariton. Furthermore we may understand the optical absorption of crystals in the polariton picture. Our solution also exhibits the phenomenon of nonclassical light absorption.  相似文献

The surface phonon polariton (SPP) mode of bulk wurtzite (α-) zinc oxide (ZnO) crystal is investigated by means of p-polarized infrared attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy. From the ATR spectrum, a strong absorption dip corresponds to the SPP mode of bulk α-ZnO is clearly observed at 529 cm−1. The experimental SPP mode showed good agreement with the theoretical SPP mode deduced from the surface polariton dispersion curve generated by the semi-infinite anisotropic crystal model.  相似文献

The excitation spectra of crystalline ensembles of coherently emitting interacting quantum electric dipole oscillators are investigated. The system of dynamic equations derived for a one-dimensional crystal of the J-aggregate type can be used in various limiting cases for studying optical photons as well as X-ray and gamma quanta. An exact analytic solution to the dispersion equation is obtained for polaritons (mixed states of Frenkel excitons and transverse photons). It is shown that the high-frequency polariton branch with anomalously high radiation broadening has the limiting wave vector corresponding to the spectral edge not because the broadening becomes comparable to the frequency (as was generally accepted earlier), but due to smooth joining of this polariton branch with the other (nonphysical) branch determined from the dispersion equation. At this point, the derivative of the dispersion curve goes to infinity, which is an analog of the well-known Migdal-Kohn singularity in the phonon spectra of metals. It is shown that the low-frequency polariton branch also exhibits slight broadening due to the fact that the proper radiation width is taken into account exactly.  相似文献

In this paper, the dispersion relations of surface phonon–polaritons in freestanding rectangular quantum wire systems of polar ternary mixed crystals are derived. The numerical calculations for AlxGa1−xAs and ZnxCd1−xSe quantum wire systems are performed. The results reveal that the frequencies of surface phonon–polariton modes are sensitive to the geometric structures of the quantum wires, the wave-vectors in z-direction, and the compositions of the ternary mixed crystal materials. The effects of the “two-mode” and “one-mode” behaviors of the ternary mixed crystals on the surface phonon–polariton modes are also discussed.  相似文献

We report the first measurement of phonon surface polariton (s.p.) dispersion by a non-forward Raman scattering geometry. The Raman scattering from surface modes was excited by the evanescent electromagnetic wave produced by total reflection at the interface between two transparent media. This Raman Scattering excited in condition of Total Reflection, RSTR, has been applied to the NaClO3-sapphire interface for studying the surface polariton dispersion in the gap between the TO frequency at 966 cm-1 and the LO frequency at 983 cm-1 of sodium chlorate. Comparison is made between the experimental and theoretical dispersion curves.  相似文献

We have studied the polariton relaxation dynamics in a CdTe microcavity at low temperatures after resonant excitation into the upper polariton branch (UPB). Initially, we have set a negative exciton–cavity detuning, such that the energy difference between the two polariton branches coincides with that of an LO phonon. Our experimental results reveal a sublinear dependence of the integrated emission from the lower polariton branch (LPB) with excitation power. This evidences not only an inefficient LO phonon mediated relaxation from the UPB to the LPB but also a substantial inhibition of polariton relaxation along the LPB. After that, we have progressively reduced the negative detuning, approaching the exciton–cavity resonance. Under these conditions it is possible to observe a nonlinear emission arising from K0 LPB-states similar to that observed after nonresonant excitation. Marked oscillations are present in the time evolution traces, with a period that does not depend on excitation power or detuning.  相似文献

We demonstrate strong photonic thermal rectification effect between polar dielectrics plate and the composite metamaterials containing nonspherical polar dielectric nanoparticles with small volume fractions.Thermal rectification efficiency is found to be adjusted by the volume fractions and the nanoparticles’shape,and it can be as large as 80%when the polar dielectric nanoparticles are spherical in shape and are in the dilute limit with the volume fraction f=0.01.Physically,there exists strong electromagnetic coupling between the surface phonon polariton mode of polar dielectrics plate and the localized surface phonon polariton mode around polar dielectric nanoparticles.The results provide alternative new freedom for regulating energy flow and heat rectification efficiency in the near field,and may be helpful for design of multiparameter adjustable thermal diodes.  相似文献

Strong coupling is demonstrated in monolithic ZnSe-based microcavities. Under nonresonant excitation the polariton dispersion has been investigated in dependence on the photon-exciton detuning for different excitation densities at low temperatures. For zero detuning indications of a polariton lasing threshold are observed like a k-space and energy dispersion narrowing of the lower polariton branch with increasing excitation density. Furthermore, it is observed that this effect is hampered for measurements at negative detunings as a result of the less effective polariton relaxation to the ground state. Latter results in the formation of a discrete polariton distribution at finite k values as known for the polariton bottleneck. In order to investigate the influence of a three-dimensional optical confinement on the polariton relaxation, pillar structured microcavities were fabricated. The formation of discrete polariton states in the k-space distribution is observed. Furthermore, indications for a softening of the k-conservation arising from the structural confinement are found leading to a more effective polariton relaxation. This process would be beneficial for the realization of efficient polariton lasing processes.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of measurements of polariton radiation spectra, polariton band excitation spectra and spectra of resonance Raman scattering HgI2. These are registered at different temperatures and units of energetic derangement between the exciting radiation quantum energy and that of transverse exciton. The threshold value of the temperature (T=12 K) starting from which there is attained the equilibrium between the polariton and phonon subsystems is found. The scattering mechanism that guides the formation of “thermal barrier” favouring the polaritons thermalization, is revealed.  相似文献

The dynamics of the entanglement for a solid polariton system is investigated. The polariton system is a photon-phonon complex and its time-dependent characteristic function in the Wigner representation for the system is obtained analytically. It is found that when the photon field is initially prepared in the squeezed vacuum state, and the phonon in the thermal state, the polariton system can evolve into a two-mode Gaussian mixed state. The entanglement between photon and phonon turns out to be apparently dependent on the squeezing parameter and exhibits a critical behavior with respect to the temperature.  相似文献

We present and discuss infrared magnetoplasma reflectivity and surface polariton modes in Ga1–xNxAs. It assumed that the sample is characterized by a magnetoplasma dielectric tensor. Surface polariton dispersion for two component magnetoplasma was calculated from reflectivity spectra data. We detect transverse optic phonon of GaN sublattice in 470 cm-1. The origin of sharp feature in p-polarization reflectivity about 300 cm–1 as well as LO phonon frequency of GaAs sublattice is due to Brewster mode. An interesting feature of surface modes in Voigt geometry is nonreciprocalicity, which means that the frequency changes when the direction of propagation is reversed. Also, the infrared magnetoplasma reflectivity of GaNAs should be providing determination of the electrons and heavy holes effective mass and carrier's concentration.  相似文献

In this article, we primarily review the time-resolved imaging of THz phonon polariton, which is generated by femtosecond laser in ferroelectric crystal. We pay more attention to the imaging in thin crystal, which can be used as an integration platform for terahertz-optics or terahertz-electrics. The imaging techniques, which can get quantitatively in-focus time-resolved images, are introduced in more detail. They have made enormous progress in recent years, and are powerful tools for the research of phonon polariton, optics, and THz wave. We uncover a rich set of optical phenomena stemming from the incorporation of polar materials exhibiting transverse phonon polariton excitations into a photonic crystal structure. We identify in the frequency spectrum two regimes in which the dielectric response of the polaritonic medium can induce extreme localization of the electromagnetic energy. Our analysis of the effect of polarization and the interaction between the polariton and photonic band gaps on the Bloch states leads to a pair of mechanisms for sensitive frequency-controlled relocation and/or reconfiguration of the fields.  相似文献
