The known alkaloids phenyl--naphthylamine, karakoline, neoline, delsosine, monticamine, songorine, napelline acetylnapelline, napelline-n-oxide, and isoboldine and two new alkaloids, which have been called karasamine (I) and 1-benzoylkarasamine (II), have been isolated from the epigeal part ofAconitum karakolicum Rapaics. The structure of the new alkaloids have been shown by the preparation of the mono- and triacetates (IV) and (VI) of karasamine and its carbinolamine derivative (V), and also by the direct passage from karakoline (III) to karasamine (I) and 1-bezoylkarasamine (II) and by a study of their spectral characteristics.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR, Tashkent. Summary By separating the total alkaloids ofV.erecta according to their basicities in an APS, in addition to bases known previously we have isolated ervincidine, apovincamine, (+)-quebrachamine, dl-eburnamine, (–)-1,2-dehydroaspidospermidine, and kopsanone. This is the first time that these alkaloids have been obtained from this plant. Thin-layer chromatography showed the presence of another 10–12 uncharacterized alkaloids. The region of the passage into the buffer solutions of some alkaloids has also been established.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR. The alkaloid composition of young shoots and leaves ofBerberis heteropoda Schrenk has been studied. In addition to known alkaloids, two new ones have been isolated — N-methyldihydroberberine and 8-oxoberberrubine, the structures of which were established by chemical transformations and a study of spectral properties. Of known alkaloids, berbamunine, aromoline, glaucine, thalicmidine, isocorydine, and reticuline have been found in this plant for the first time. The alkaloid complex of the leaves, stems, seeds, and seed pods ofMerendera raddeana Rgl. (familyLiliaceae) has been investigated. A number of known tropolone alkaloids and their photochemical isomers have been isolated together with the homoaporphine bases merenderine, kreysiginine, and O-methyl-kreysiginine and their N-oxides, which have not been described in the literature. One of them (merenderine N-oxide) has been characterized by its physical constants and has been investigated by IR, PMR, and mass-spectral methods. By a study of the PMR spectrum of the fraction of neutral alkaloids from the leaves of the plant it has been established that it consists mainly of a mixture of equal amounts of colchicine and cornigerine.V. From the epigeal parts of two species ofOxytropis growing in Mongolia we have isolated the new alkaloids (+)-N-benzoyl-2-hydroxy-2-phenylethylamine and (–)-N-nicotinoyl-2-hydroxy-2-phenylethylamine, and also N-benzoyl-2-phenylethylamine, this being the first time this substance has been found in nature. The structures of the alkaloids were established on the basis of a comparative analysis of their spectral characteristics. Features of the mass-spectrometric behavior of this compound have been studied.Institute of Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Mongolian Peoples' Republic. The cardiotropic activities of 111 diterpene alkaloids and their synthetic derivatives having lycoctine, heteratisine, napelline, and denudatine skeletons have been studied. It has been established that the overwhelming majority of these compounds exhibit a pronounced antiarrhythmic and antifibrillatory action, which is a finding of practical interest. Their structure-activity relationships — the directions of their action in relation to the results of x-ray structural analysis — have been investigated. The following have been selected and proposed as antiarrhythmic agents for practical medicine: lappaconitine, deacetyllappaconitine, 6-benzoylheteratisine, 14-benzoyl talatisamine, 1-benzoylnapelline, and others. Of them, lappaconitine hydrobromide (allapinin) has been introduced into public health practice.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, fax (3712) 40 64 75. The process of extracting the total alkaloids fromAconitum orientale with aqueous solutions of a number of electrolytes has been investigated. It has been established that it is most desirable to use 2% solutions of H2SO4 and 5% solutions of CH3COOH. The optimum parameters of the process have been found, under which the degree of extraction of the total alkaloids averages 96%.I. G.
