The Projected Aggregation Methods (PAM) for solving linear systems of equalities and/or inequalities, generate a new iterate x k+1 by projecting the current point x k onto a separating hyperplane generated by a given linear combination of the original hyperplanes or halfspaces. In [12] we introduced acceleration schemes for solving systems of linear equations by applying optimization techniques to the problem of finding the optimal combination of the hyperplanes within a PAM like framework. In this paper we generalize those results, introducing a new accelerated iterative method for solving systems of linear inequalities, together with the corresponding theoretical convergence results. In order to test its efficiency, numerical results obtained applying the new acceleration scheme to two algorithms introduced by García-Palomares and González-Castaño [6] are given.  相似文献

We present an interior point approach to the zero–one integer programming feasibility problem based on the minimization of a nonconvex potential function. Given a polytope defined by a set of linear inequalities, this procedure generates a sequence of strict interior points of this polytope, such that each consecutive point reduces the value of the potential function. An integer solution (not necessarily feasible) is generated at each iteration by a rounding scheme. The direction used to determine the new iterate is computed by solving a nonconvex quadratic program on an ellipsoid. We illustrate the approach by considering a class of difficult set covering problems that arise from computing the 1-width of the incidence matrix of Steiner triple systems.  相似文献

The Projected Aggregation Methods (PAM) for solving linear systems of equalities and/or inequalities, generate a new iterate x k+1 by projecting the current point x k onto a separating hyperplane generated by a given linear combination of the original hyperplanes or halfspaces. In Scolnik et al. (2001, 2002a) and Echebest et al. (2004) acceleration schemes for solving systems of linear equations and inequalities respectively were introduced, within a PAM like framework. In this paper we apply those schemes in an algorithm based on oblique projections reflecting the sparsity of the matrix of the linear system to be solved. We present the corresponding theoretical convergence results which are a generalization of those given in Echebest et al. (2004). We also present the numerical results obtained applying the new scheme to two algorithms introduced by Garcí a-Palomares and González-Castaño (1998) and also the comparison of its efficiency with that of Censor and Elfving (2002).  相似文献

Proximal-point algorithms (PPAs) are classical solvers for convex optimization problems and monotone variational inequalities (VIs). The proximal term in existing PPAs usually is the gradient of a certain function. This paper presents a class of PPA-based methods for monotone VIs. For a given current point, a proximal point is obtained via solving a PPA-like subproblem whose proximal term is linear but may not be the gradient of any functions. The new iterate is updated via an additional slight calculation. Global convergence of the method is proved under the same mild assumptions as the original PPA. Finally, profiting from the less restrictions on the linear proximal terms, we propose some parallel splitting augmented Lagrangian methods for structured variational inequalities with separable operators. In this paper, we propose a modified projection method for solving a system of monotone equations with convex constraints. At each iteration of the method, we first solve a system of linear equations approximately, and then perform a projection of the initial point onto the intersection set of the feasible set and two half spaces containing the current iterate to obtain the next one. The iterate sequence generated by the proposed algorithm possesses an expansive property with regard to the initial point. Under mild condition, we show that the proposed algorithm is globally convergent. Preliminary numerical experiments are also reported.  相似文献

The authors introduced in previously published papers acceleration schemes for Projected Aggregation Methods (PAM), aiming at solving consistent linear systems of equalities and inequalities. They have used the basic idea of forcing each iterate to belong to the aggregate hyperplane generated in the previous iteration. That scheme has been applied to a variety of projection algorithms for solving systems of linear equalities or inequalities, proving that the acceleration technique can be successfully used for consistent problems. The aim of this paper is to extend the applicability of those schemes to the inconsistent case, employing incomplete projections onto the set of solutions of the augmented system Axr = b. These extended algorithms converge to the least squares solution. For that purpose, oblique projections are used and, in particular, variable oblique incomplete projections are introduced. They are defined by means of matrices that penalize the norm of the residuals very strongly in the first iterations, decreasing their influence with the iteration counter in order to fulfill the convergence conditions. The theoretical properties of the new algorithms are analyzed, and numerical experiences are presented comparing their performance with several well-known projection methods. Inspired by the Logarithmic-Quadratic Proximal method [A. Auslender, M. Teboulle, S. Ben-Tiba, A logarithmic-quadratic proximal method for variational inequalities, Comput. Optim. Appl. 12 (1999) 31-40], we present a new prediction-correction method for solving the nonlinear complementarity problems. In our method, an intermediate point is produced by approximately solving a nonlinear equation system based on the Logarithmic-Quadratic Proximal method; and the new iterate is obtained by convex combination of the previous point and the one generated by the improved extragradient method at each iteration. The proposed method allows for constant relative errors and this yields a more practical Logarithmic-Quadratic Proximal type method. The global convergence is established under mild conditions. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the method is effective for large-scale nonlinear complementarity problems.  相似文献

The alternating direction method is one of the attractive approaches for solving linearly constrained separate monotone variational inequalities. Experience on applications has shown that the number of iterations depends significantly on the penalty parameter for the system of linear constraint equations. While the penalty parameter is a constant in the original method, in this paper we present a modified alternating direction method that adjusts the penalty parameter per iteration based on the iterate message. Preliminary numerical tests show that the self-adaptive adjustment technique is effective in practice.  相似文献

1.引言 我们考虑以下形式的等式和不等式线性方程组: sum from j=1 to (a_(ij)x_j)=b_i,i=1,2,…,l, (1.1) sum from j=1 to (a_(ij)x_j)≤b_i,i=l 1,…,m.(1.2)对于求解这类问题,较早的算法有消去法和松弛法(即投影法).

We present a modification of a double projection algorithm proposed by Solodov and Svaiter for solving variational inequalities. The main modification is to use a different Armijo-type linesearch to obtain a hyperplane strictly separating current iterate from the solutions of the variational inequalities. Our method is proven to be globally convergent under very mild assumptions. If in addition a certain error bound holds, we analyze the convergence rate of the iterative sequence. We use numerical experiments to compare our method with that proposed by Solodov and Svaiter.  相似文献

We introduce a two-step direct method, like Korpelevich's, for solving monotone variational inequalities. The advantage of our method over that one is that ours converges strongly in Hilbert spaces, whereas only weak convergence has been proved for Korpelevich's algorithm. Our method also has the following desirable property: the sequence converges to the solution of the problem that lies closest to the initial iterate.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a modified descent-projection method for solving variational inequalities. The method makes use of a descent direction to produce the new iterate and can be viewed as an improvement of the descent-projection method by using a new step size. Under certain conditions, the global convergence of the proposed method is proved. In order to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method, we provide numerical results for a traffic equilibrium problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose two inexact decomposition methods for solving variational inequalities(VI) with linear equality constraint, which improve the decomposition method proposed by Gabay (in Fortin, M., Glowinski, R. (eds.) Augmented Lagrangian methods: applications to the solution of boundary-valued problems, pp.?299?C331, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1983), Gabay and Mercier (Comput. Math. Appl. 2(1):17?C40, 1976) in the following two senses: in each iteration, both methods allow the involved strongly monotone sub-VI to be solved approximately; the temporal iterate generated by the sub-VI is utilized to generate descent direction, and the new iterate is generated along the descent direction. Under mild conditions, the global convergence of the inexact methods is proved. Some numerical experiments are carried out to validate the efficiency and practicality of the proposed methods.  相似文献

We study the problem of solving a constrained system of nonlinear equations by a combination of the classical damped Newton method for (unconstrained) smooth equations and the recent interior point potential reduction methods for linear programs, linear and nonlinear complementarity problems. In general, constrained equations provide a unified formulation for many mathematical programming problems, including complementarity problems of various kinds and the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker systems of variational inequalities and nonlinear programs. Combining ideas from the damped Newton and interior point methods, we present an iterative algorithm for solving a constrained system of equations and investigate its convergence properties. Specialization of the algorithm and its convergence analysis to complementarity problems of various kinds and the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker systems of variational inequalities are discussed in detail. We also report the computational results of the implementation of the algorithm for solving several classes of convex programs. The generalized Nash equilibrium problem (GNEP) is an n-person noncooperative game in which each player’s strategy set depends on the rivals’ strategy set. In this paper, we presented a half-space projection method for solving the quasi-variational inequality problem which is a formulation of the GNEP. The difference from the known projection methods is due to the next iterate point in this method is obtained by directly projecting a point onto a half-space. Thus, our next iterate point can be represented explicitly. The global convergence is proved under the minimal assumptions. Compared with the known methods, this method can reduce one projection of a vector onto the strategy set per iteration. Numerical results show that this method not only outperforms the known method but is also less dependent on the initial value than the known method.  相似文献

A Smoothing Newton Method for Semi-Infinite Programming   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
This paper is concerned with numerical methods for solving a semi-infinite programming problem. We reformulate the equations and nonlinear complementarity conditions of the first order optimality condition of the problem into a system of semismooth equations. By using a perturbed Fischer–Burmeister function, we develop a smoothing Newton method for solving this system of semismooth equations. An advantage of the proposed method is that at each iteration, only a system of linear equations is solved. We prove that under standard assumptions, the iterate sequence generated by the smoothing Newton method converges superlinearly/quadratically.  相似文献

The CMRH method [H. Sadok, Méthodes de projections pour les systèmes linéaires et non linéaires, Habilitation thesis, University of Lille1, Lille, France, 1994; H. Sadok, CMRH: A new method for solving nonsymmetric linear systems based on the Hessenberg reduction algorithm, Numer. Algorithms 20 (1999) 303–321] is an algorithm for solving nonsymmetric linear systems in which the Arnoldi component of GMRES is replaced by the Hessenberg process, which generates Krylov basis vectors which are orthogonal to standard unit basis vectors rather than mutually orthogonal. The iterate is formed from these vectors by solving a small least squares problem involving a Hessenberg matrix. Like GMRES, this method requires one matrix–vector product per iteration. However, it can be implemented to require half as much arithmetic work and less storage. Moreover, numerical experiments show that this method performs accurately and reduces the residual about as fast as GMRES. With this new implementation, we show that the CMRH method is the only method with long-term recurrence which requires not storing at the same time the entire Krylov vectors basis and the original matrix as in the GMRES algorithm. A comparison with Gaussian elimination is provided.  相似文献

Proximal point algorithms (PPA) are attractive methods for monotone variational inequalities. The approximate versions of PPA are more applicable in practice. A modified approximate proximal point algorithm (APPA) presented by Solodov and Svaiter [Math. Programming, Ser. B 88 (2000) 371–389] relaxes the inexactness criterion significantly. This paper presents an extended version of Solodov–Svaiter's APPA. Building the direction from current iterate to the new iterate obtained by Solodov–Svaiter's APPA, the proposed method improves the profit at each iteration by choosing the optimal step length along this direction. In addition, the inexactness restriction is relaxed further. Numerical example indicates the improvement of the proposed method.  相似文献

We presented a new logarithmic-quadratic proximal alternating direction scheme for the separable constrained convex programming problem. The predictor is obtained by solving series of related systems of non-linear equations in a parallel wise. The new iterate is obtained by searching the optimal step size along a new descent direction. The new direction is obtained by the linear combination of two descent directions. Global convergence of the proposed method is proved under certain assumptions. We show the O(1 / t) convergence rate for the parallel LQP alternating direction method.  相似文献
