Lie series and a special matrix notation for first-order differential operators are used to show that the Lie group properties of matrix Riccati equations arise in a natural way. The Lie series notation makes it evident that the solutions of a matrix Riccati equation are curves in a group of nonlinear transformations that is a generalization of the linear fractional transformations familiar from the classical complex analysis. It is easy to obtain a linear representation of the Lie algebra of the nonlinear group of transformations and then this linearization leads directly to the standard linearization of the matrix Riccati equations. We note that the matrix Riccati equations considered here are of the general rectangular type.  相似文献

In this paper,we consider numerical and trigonometric series with a very general monotonicity condition.First,a fundamental decomposition is established from which the sufficient parts of many classical results in Fourier analysis can be derived in this general setting.In the second part of the paper a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniform convergence of sine series is proved generalizing a classical theorem of Chaundy and Jolliffe.  相似文献

This paper deals with the expansion of matrix functions in series of Laguerre matrix polynomials of a complex matrix parameter. A new asymptotic expression for positive and large x and n is obtained for this family of matrix polynomials that improves previous existing expressions. This expression is applied to improving the conditions imposed on the matrix function that are to be expanded in a series of non-hermitian Laguerre matrix polynomials, providing a new series expansion theorem that is more general than previous works. An application to solving linear differential systems without matrix exponentials is included.  相似文献

Some types of density estimators, particularly those based on trigonometric series, converge reasonably quickly to their limit except in the neighbourhood of one or two singularities. In this situation the mean integrated square error, the traditional measure of the efficiency of a density estimator, is an unsatisfactory measure. The notion of partial mean integrated square error is introduced and used to compare the performance of trigonometric series estimators. The results lead to consideration of some new estimators which have excellent properties from the points of view of both efficiency and ease of computation.  相似文献

We obtain eigenvalue inequalities for matrix geometric means of positive definite matrices. This implies matrix norm inequalities for unitarily invariant norms, which are considered as complementary to a series of norm inequalities among geometric means. We give complements of the Ando–Hiai type inequality for the Karcher mean by means of the generalized Kantorovich constant. Finally, we consider the monotonicity of the eigenvalue function for the Karcher mean.  相似文献

In this paper the concept of positive definite bilinear matrix moment functional, acting on the space of all the matrix valued continuous functions defined on a bounded interval [a,b] is introduced. The best approximation matrix problem with respect to such a functional is solved in terms of matrix Fourier series. Basic properties of matrix Fourier series such as the Riemann—Lebesgue, matrix property and the bessel—parseval matrix inequality are proved. The concept of total set with respect to a positive definite matrix functional is introduced, and the totallity of an orthonormal sequence of matrix polynomials with respect to the functional is established.  相似文献

In this paper we establish a general assertion relating the oscillation of the sequence of rectangular partial sums of a multiple Fourier series in a multiplicative system to the strong summability of this series. The systems of group generators are assumed to be uniformly bounded. In some multivariate time-series models a matrix power series is involved. These models can be identified as rational models if these series correspond to a matrix rational function. Moreover, it is necessary to answer some questions about minimality and uniqueness of representation. The main results of this paper fall within the sphere of matrix Padé approximation. On the basis of formal power series, matrix rational functions of arbitrary dimensions are characterized. Furthermore, we study certain minimality types, that are, global minimum degrees and row minimum degrees. In addition, given that the rational representation of the function for the same pair of degrees need not be unique, we have obtained conditions to study the uniqueness of said representation and, also, to find a “canonical” unique representation. Moreover, we consider an application to special series which is associated with time-series models; such series leads to new theoretical results relating to matrix Padé approximation. Finally, we comment on some illustrative examples.  相似文献

The convergence rate of Fourier-Laplace series in logarithmic subclasses of L2(Σd) defined in terms of moduli of continuity is of interest. Lin and Wang [C. Lin, K. Wang, Convergence rate of Fourier-Laplace series of L2-functions, J. Approx. Theory 128 (2004) 103-114] recently presented a characterization of those subclasses and provided the almost everywhere convergence rates of Fourier-Laplace series in those subclasses. In this note, the almost everywhere convergence rates of the Cesàro means for Fourier-Laplace series of the logarithmic subclasses are obtained. The strong approximation order of the Cesàro means and the partial summation operators are also presented.  相似文献

The optimal control of linear time-varying systems with quadratic cost functional is obtained by Fourier series approximation. The properties of Fourier series are first briefly presented and the operational matrix of backward integration together with the product operational matrix are utilized to reduce the optimal control problem to a set of simultaneous linear algebraic equations. Many modern approaches of time series analysis belong to the class of methods based on approximating high‐dimensional spaces by low‐dimensional subspaces. A typical method would embed a given time series into a structured matrix and find a low‐dimensional approximation to this structured matrix. The purpose of this paper is twofold: (i) to establish a correspondence between a class of SVD‐compatible matrix norms on the space of Hankel matrices and weighted vector norms (and provide methods to construct this correspondence) and (ii) to motivate the importance of this for problems in time series analysis. Time series classification by class-specific Mahalanobis distance measures   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
To classify time series by nearest neighbors, we need to specify or learn one or several distance measures. We consider variations of the Mahalanobis distance measures which rely on the inverse covariance matrix of the data. Unfortunately??for time series data??the covariance matrix has often low rank. To alleviate this problem we can either use a pseudoinverse, covariance shrinking or limit the matrix to its diagonal. We review these alternatives and benchmark them against competitive methods such as the related Large Margin Nearest Neighbor Classification (LMNN) and the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) distance. As we expected, we find that the DTW is superior, but the Mahalanobis distance measures are one to two orders of magnitude faster. To get best results with Mahalanobis distance measures, we recommend learning one distance measure per class using either covariance shrinking or the diagonal approach.  相似文献

We present a necessary and sufficient condition to represent a Laurent series matrix A(x) as a product where is a Laurent series matrix whose leading scalar matrix is nonsingular and U(x) and V(x) are diagonal matrices whose nonzero entries are powers of x. If A(x) can be written in this form, then the matrix equation A(x)Y(x) = B(x) can be solved by long division. Our result relies on a classical theorem on optimal assignments.  相似文献
