We studied the entanglement of a quantum system consisting of a Jaynes-Cummings atom, thermal lossless cavity and an isolated atom. The analytical expressions of the atom-atom negativity for separable and entangled initial atomic states were obtained. The influence of a detuning between the atomic transition frequency and the field frequency and direct dipole-dipole interaction on an atom-atom entanglement is examined. We showed that for a separable initial atomic states a detuning might cause high atom-atom entanglement in the presence of the dipole-dipole interaction. We also obtained that for an entangled initial atomic state a detuning causes a stabilization of an entanglement oscillations both for model with dipole-dipole interaction and model without such interaction.

We use the quantum jump approach to study the entanglement dynamics of a quantum register, which is composed of two or three dipole-dipole coupled two-level atoms, interacting with a common environment. Our investigation of entanglement dynamics reflects that the environment has dual actions on the entanglement of the qubits in the model. While the environment destroys the entanglement induced by the coherent dipole-dipole interactions, it can produce stable entanglement between the qubits prepared initially in a separable state. The analysis shows that it is the entangled decoherence-free states contained as components in the initial state that contribute to the stable entanglement. Our study indicates how the environmental noise produces the entanglement and exposes the interplay of environmental noise and coherent interactions of qubits on the entanglement.

We study the interaction between a single-mode quantized field and a quantum system composed of two qubits. We suppose that two qubits initially be prepared in the mixed and separable state, and study how entanglement between two qubits arises in the course of evolution according to the Jaynes-Cummings type interaction with nonclassical radiation field. We also investigate the relation between entanglement and purity of qubit subsystem. We show that different photon statistics have different effects on the dynamical behavior of the qubit subsystem. When the qubits are initially prepared in the maximally mixed and separable state, for coherent state field we cannot find entanglement between two qubits; for squeezed state field entanglement between two qubits exists in several short period of time; for even and odd coherent state fields of large photon number, the dynamical behavior of the entanglement between two qubits shows collapse and revival phenomenon. For odd coherent state field of small photon number, the entanglement with both qubits initially prepared in maximally mixed state can be stronger than that with both qubits initially prepared in pure states. For fields of small photon number, the entanglement strongly depends on the states they are initially prepared in. For coherent state field, and odd and even coherent state fields of large photon number, the entanglement only depends on the purity of the initial state of qubit subsystem. We also show that during the evolution the unentangled state may be purer than the entangled state, and the maximum degree of entanglement may not occur at the time when the qubit subsystem is in the purist state.

We propose two resource-efficient schemes of direct entanglement measurement of two-qubit Werner states via hybrid interaction system with nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center coupled to micro-cavity. Based on the unconventional encoding mode on auxiliary qubits, our physical unit can realize the hybrid controlled phase gate and controlled-NOT gate between spin and polarization qubits. Utilizing only one copy of initial entangled state, we implement direct concurrence measurement of spin Werner states in NV centers and polarization Werner states of single photons. Both schemes can be transformed into remote ones with the initial entangled states possessed by spatially separated participants. Experimental feasibility analyses indicate that the presented schemes have reliable performance in the current available experimental conditions.

A Λ-type atom interacting with two radiation fields exhibits electromagnetically induced transparency and other nonclassical effects that appear in the entanglement dynamics of the atomic subsystem and in appropriate field observables. Both EIT and field-atom entanglement are important for quantum information processing. We investigate the roles played by specific initial field states, detuning parameters, field nonlinearities and intensity-dependent field-atom couplings on EIT and the entanglement between subsystems. Departure from coherence of the initial field states produces significant effects. We investigate these aspects in a model that exhibits the salient features of entangled tripartite systems. For initial photon-added coherent states, collapses and revivals of the atomic subsystem von Neumann entropy appear as the intensity parameter varies over a narrow range of values. These features could be useful in enabling entanglement.

A system of two interacting qubits off-resonantly coupled to a common non-Markovian reservoir at zero temperature is analyzed. Comparing with the results in Markovian case, we find that much higher values of entanglement can be obtained for an initially factorized state of the two-qubit system. The maximal value of the entanglement increases as the strength of dipole-dipole interaction and detuning grow. Moreover, the entanglement induced by non-Markovian reservoir is more robust against the asymmetrical couplings between the two qubits and the reservoir.

We investigate the entanglement transfer in a four-qubit system and calculate the concurrence between any two qubits in different initial states. We show that both the pure entangled state and mixed entangled state can be transferred. For some special coupling constants and some evolution time, entanglement can be completely transferred from one pair particles to another.

Several quantum-mechanical correlations, notably, quantum entanglement, measurement-induced nonlocality and Bell nonlocality are studied for a two qubit-system having no mutual interaction. Analytical expressions for the measures of these quantum-mechanical correlations of different bipartite partitions of the system are obtained, for initially two entangled qubits and the two photons are in their vacuum states. It is found that the qubits-fields interaction leads to the loss and gain of the initial quantum correlations. The lost initial quantum correlations transfer from the qubits to the cavity fields. It is found that the maximal violation of Bell’s inequality is occurring when the quantum correlations of both the logarithmic negativity and measurement-induced nonlocality reach particular values. The maximal violation of Bell’s inequality occurs only for certain bipartite partitions of the system. The frequency detuning leads to quick oscillations of the quantum correlations and inhibits their transfer from the qubits to the cavity modes. It is also found that the dynamical behavior of the quantum correlation clearly depends on the qubit distribution angle.

We study the entanglement dynamics of three qubits in contact with independent Markovian or non-Markovian reservoirs. The qubits are prepared in two types of GHZ-like or W-like states distinguished by initial excited-state populations. Though belonging to the same GHZ or W class of entanglement, the states with different initial excitations exhibit strikingly different dynamics. In addition, we show that the non-Markovian reservoirs can recover the multiqubit entanglement at instantaneous points or after a finite interval of entanglement disappearance. We also investigate the protection of multiqubit entanglement by the control of excitation emission via the detuning.

The time evolution of spontaneous decay of a two-level atom in one dimension photonic crystals is investigated with three different methods : ( 1 ) using the Markovian approximation, (2) using the constant approximation, and (3) without using any of the two approximations. The second and third methods are Non-Markovian, which yield similar results. The second method gives us a clear physical picture of the effect of the reflected field. The Non- Markovian processes due to the reflected field have great influence on the atomic decay mainly within one tenth of an optical cycle, and reach steady state influence fter one optical cycle. The result of Markovian approximation gives almost the same result of the other two methods after one optical cycle, but misses the details within the one optical cycle.

A system of two initially entangled qubits interacting with a bosonic environment is considered. The interaction induces a loss of the initial entanglement of the two qubits, and for specific initial states it causes entanglement sudden death. An investigation of the modifications on the entanglement dynamics by a single pulse control field, performed in the two qubit system, shows that the control field can not only protect entangled states against sudden death but also induce a revival of entanglement in the two qubit system.

We study a generalized double Jaynes–Cummings (JC) model where two entangled pairs of two-level atoms interact indirectly. We show that there exist initial states of the qubit system so that two entangled pairs are available at all times. In particular, the minimum entanglement in the pairs as a function of the initial state is studied. Finally, we extend our findings to a model consisting of multi-mode atom–cavity interactions. We use a non-Markovian quantum state diffusion (QSD) equation to obtain the steady-state density matrix for the qubits. We show that the multi-mode model also displays dynamical preservation of entanglement.

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of a quantum system consisting of three superconducting charge qubits (SCQs) interacting with a microwave field. For separable and entangled states of the SCQs, the evolutions are studied under various photon numbers of cavity field. The results show that the amplitude and period of the bipartite entanglement square concurrences can be controlled by the choice of initial states of SCQs and photon numberof cavity field, respectively. This simple model of a quantum register allows us to understand the dynamic process of the quantum storage of information carried by charge qubit.

We study the time evolution of two two-state systems (two qubits) initially in the pure entangled states or the maximally entangled mixed states interacting with the individual environmental noise. It is shown that due to environment noise, all quantum entangled states are very fragile and become a classical mixed state in a short-time limit. But the environment can affect entanglement in very different ways. The type of decoherence process for certain entangled states belongs to amplitude damping, while the others belong to dephasing decoherenee.

The entanglement of two atomic qubits, which are coupled to a coherent state field with different couplings, is studied. The dynamical evolution of the concurrence, which measures the degree of the entanglement between the two qubits, is plotted versus the scaled time gt. It is found that the two qubits can be entangled by the coherent state field even when they are initially prepared in the most mixed state, and for very weak field, the most mixed state can be more easily entangled than some pure states. It is also found that the entanglement between the qubits sensitively depends on the relative difference of the atomic couplings and the mean photon number of the field.

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of two atoms in a double damping Jaynes-Cummings model. The two atoms are initially in the Bell states and each is in a squeezed vacuum cavity field or coherent cavity field. Compared with the case in coherent field, the atomic entanglement in the squeezed vacuum field is stronger under the same conditions. The results show that we can adopt appropriate parameters such as mean photon number, detuning, the atomic spontaneous decay and the cavity decay, to realize better control of atomic entanglement in quantum information processing. What’s worth mentioning is that proper choosing of the last two parameters enables us to decrease disentanglement period and postpone the moment when the entanglement disappears. Finally, the atomic entanglement in double damping and non-identical Jaynes-Cummings model is obtained

Scalable quantum networks require the capability to create, store and distribute entanglement among distant nodes (atoms, trapped ions, charge and spin qubits built on quantum dots, etc.) by means of photonic channels. We show how the entanglement between qubits and electromagnetic field modes allows generation of entangled states of remotely located qubits. We present analytical calculations of linear entropy and the density matrix for the entangled qubits for the system described by the Jaynes-Cummings model. We also discuss the influence of decoherence. The presented scheme is able to drive an initially separable state of two qubits into an highly entangled state suitable for quantum information processing.
