The first indication of nondipole effects in the azimuthal dependence of photoelectron angular distributions emitted from fixed-in-space molecules is demonstrated in N (2). Comparison of the results with angular distributions observed for randomly oriented molecules and theoretical derivations for the nondipole correction first order in photon momentum suggests that higher orders will be needed to describe distributions measured in the molecular frame.  相似文献

This paper proposes a modified strong field approximation model for evaluating nondipole effects on the ionization of an atom in an intense laser field. The photoelectron longitudinal momentum distributions(PLMD) of a hydrogen-like atom exposed to a mid-infrared laser field is calculated. The theoretical results indicate an obvious asymmetry in the PLMD, and an offset of the PLMD peak appears in the opposite direction of the beam propagation due to nondipole effects. The peak offsets of the PLMD increased with the laser intensity, imposed by the initial state of the hydrogen-like atom.  相似文献

The photoionization cross sections; dipole and nondipole parameters of the angular distribution of photoelectrons; and the spectroscopic factors for the main X-ray photoelectron lines, which are used in quantitative analysis of the surface and most of atoms, have been calculated. It is shown that consideration of nondipole effects leads to a significant (up to 10%) change in the photoelectron angular distribution. Therefore, neglect of nondipole transitions may lead to an error above 10% when MgK α and AlK α X-ray lines are used for surface analysis. Consideration of the spectroscopic factors leads to a decrease in the absolute line intensity by about 20%. Calculations showed that this value weakly depends on the atomic number and quantum shell numbers.  相似文献

A comprehensive study is undertaken of angular distributions of electron knock-out from atomic targets by fast electrons with a small transfer of momentum. The general expressions for the parameters of the triple differential cross-section of impact ionization in the optical limit are derived. The calculated parameters are compared with those of the angular distribution of electrons ejected from an atom in the process of photoionization. In these processes, when the multipole transitions are involved, the one-to-one correspondence between the photoionization and impact ionization parameters disappears. The nondipole transitions lead to the backward/forward asymmetry of the angular distribution of ejected electrons that is absent in the dipole approximation for ionization by both fast electrons and photons. Using the He atom as an example, the character of the asymmetry for these two processes is qualitatively different and the backward/forward asymmetry results in macroscopic directed motion of secondary electrons accompanying the passing of a fast electron beam through gas or plasma. The general formulas for this drag current are derived and applied to gaseous He.  相似文献

Observations are reported for the first time of significant nondipole effects in the photoionization of the outer-valence orbitals of diatomic molecules. Measured nondipole angular-distribution parameters for the 3sigma(g), 1pi(u), and 2sigma(u) shells of N2 exhibit spectral variations with incident photon energies from thresholds to approximately 200 eV which are attributed via concomitant calculations to particular final-state symmetry waves arising from (E1)multiply sign in circle(M1,E2) radiation-matter interactions first-order in photon momentum. Comparisons with previously reported K-edge studies in N2 verify linear scaling with photon momentum, accounting in part for the significantly enhanced nondipole behavior observed in inner-shell ionization at correspondingly higher momentum values in this molecule.  相似文献

<正>The coupled-channels optical method for positron scattering has been applied to investigate resonance states with unnatural parities in a positron-excited hydrogen system.The positronium formation channels and continuum channel are included via a complex equivalent local potential.Resonance states with angular momenta L = 1 to L = 2 and parities(—1)L+1 are calculated.Resonance energies and widths are reported and compared with other theoretical calculations.We found that the opening positronium formation channels play an important role in forming nondipole Feshbach resonances.  相似文献

Relativistic calculations of differential cross sections for photoionization are performed and the behavior of parameters β, γ, and δ describing the angular distribution of photoelectrons in the quadrupole approximation is studied. The calculations were carried out for a number of atoms for kinetic energies of photoelectrons E k ≈50 000 eV. The electronic wave functions of the initial and final states are calculated by the Dirac-Fock method taking into account the exchange interaction and a hole produced in the atomic shell upon photoionization. The dependence of parameters β, γ, and δ on the physical assumptions used in the calculations is studied. Comparison with nonrelativistic calculations shows that relativistic values of the nondipole parameters γ and δ can be substantially different even at low energies of photoelectrons. Our calculations of nondipole parameters γ and δ for the 2p-shell of the Kr atom better agree with the recent experimental data than nonrelativistic calculations performed earlier taking approximately into account the exchange interaction and neglecting a hole.  相似文献

In this review, we will focus on recent progress on the investigations of nondipole effects in few-electron atoms and molecules interacting with light fields. We first briefly survey several popular theoretical methods and relevant concepts in strong field and attosecond physics beyond the dipole approximation. Physical phenomena stemming from the breakdown of the dipole approximation are then discussed in various topics, including the radiation pressure and photon-momentum transfer, the atomic stabilization, the dynamic interference, and the high-order harmonic generation. Whenever available,the corresponding experimental observations of these nondipole effects are also introduced respectively in each topics.  相似文献

Multifluid equations describing the plasma of vacuum arcs expanding anisotropically from a cathode spot are given and discussed. Some first and preliminary results from an approximate analytical integration of such a system of equations, based on the representation of all plasma parameters by asymptotic power series, are presented and evaluated. Though the dependence of the plasma parameters on the direction (angle ϑ) is weak, the inclusion of angular terms and angular equations changes some results significantly, compared with the experiences from usually 1-D models. While the basic radial dependence (r) of the terms ~r-2k/5, k=0,1,2..., remains the same as in 1-D theories, we now get an angular dependence ~ϑ2 of the parameters in a first approximation, with positive factors, i.e., a flattening of the whole plasma distribution. However, with analytical solutions of higher flexibility, cos-like distributions are possible as well. The final kinetic energy of the plasma ions in the case of Cu arc spots is caused by the electric field within the plasma (contributing approximately 27%), the ion pressure gradient (~24%), and the electron-ion friction (plasma resistivity, ~49%) in directions near to the discharge axis. Again, similar to the results from 1-D models. With an approach to the cathode surface (ϑ→π/2), the plasma flow becomes ambipolar. Finally, some further possibilities which are available with the help of this model are discussed  相似文献

The exact nondipole minimal-coupling Hamiltonian for an atom interacting with an explicitly time- and space-dependent laser field is transformed into the rest frame of a classical free electron in the laser field, i.e., into the Kramers-Henneberger frame. The new form of the Hamiltonian is used to study nondipole effects in the high-intensity, high-frequency regime. Fully three-dimensional nondipole ab initio wave packet calculations show that the ionization probability may decrease for increasing field strength. We identify a unique signature for the onset of this dynamical stabilization effect in the photoelectron spectrum.  相似文献

We present a theoretical study of fast-electron emission produced in H2 and H2+ photoionization. We show that, when the electron wave length is comparable to the molecular size, the electron angular distributions arising from fixed-in-space molecules exhibit pronounced interference effects that critically depend on orientation and energy sharing between electrons and nuclei. In particular, for molecules oriented parallel to the polarization direction, the angular patterns reveal a complex nodal structure, while for molecules oriented perpendicularly, typical Young's double-slit interferences are observed. These patterns change dramatically as the molecule vibrates.  相似文献

Angular distributions of fragment ions from ionization of several tri-atomic molecules(CO_2, OCS, N_2O and NO_2) by strong 800-nm laser fields are investigated via a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Anisotropic angular distributions of fragment ions, especially those of atomic ions, are observed for all of the molecules studied.These anisotropic angular distributions are mainly due to the geometric alignment of molecules in the strong field ionization. Distinct different patterns in ionic angular distributions for different molecules are observed. It is indicated that both molecular geometric structure and ionization channels have effects on the angular distributions of strong field ionization/fragmentation.  相似文献

We present a dynamical model-independent, ab initio parametrization of the quadrupole transition amplitude for photo-double-ionization of He. An asymmetry of the triple differential cross section induced by the nondipole corrections is discussed and shown to be significant even for an excess energy as low as 80 eV. We provide predictions for two different kinds of experiments in which nondipole effects should be observable with current experimental capabilities.  相似文献

The spectral-angular and angular distributions of parametric x-ray radiation generated in the vicinity of the maximum at small angles to the direction of charged-particle motion are studied under the conditions of Laue and Bragg diffraction geometries. Detector parameters at which the dynamical maxima of parametric x-ray radiation can be observed against the background of transition radiation are indicated. The spectral-angular and angular distributions of parametric x-ray radiation are analyzed for the case of backward geometry. The results of the present theoretical calculations are found to be in good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

We develop a general algorithm for describing angular decay distributions in cascade decay chains of arbitrary length. The general algorithm is used to study joint angular decay distributions for the cascade decayB→D **(→D *(→Dπ)+W(→lv) where theD ** is a genericP-wave charm meson state. Lepton mass effects are fully incorporated. The joint angular decay distribution depend on 43 independently measurable decay parameters if the spin parity of theD ** is 1+ and on 48 decay parameters if the spin parity of theD ** is 2+. We give expressions for these decay parameters in terms of the helicity amplitudes of the two-body decay processes. An absolute prediction for all the parameters is presented in the framework of the heavy quark effective theory. A method for obtaining the helicity amplitudes from measured joint angular distributions is suggested.  相似文献

Two decades ago, it was predicted [Y. S. Kim et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 46, 1326 (1981)] that relativistic effects should alter the dynamics of the photoionization process in the vicinity of Cooper minima. The present experimental and theoretical study of the angular distributions of Xe 4d(3/2) and 4d(5/2) photoelectrons demonstrates this effect for the first time. The results clearly imply that relativistic effects are likely to be important for intermediate- Z atoms at most energies.  相似文献
