It was reported by Kong et al. that the self-phase-controlled stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugate mirror (SBS-PCM) is useful for the beam combination laser amplifier system, which generally introduces a phase delay (piston error) between combined beams along separate optical paths. In this work, we have investigated the piston error characteristics of two schemes for self-phase-controlled SBS-PCMs, a collinear scheme and a triangular scheme. Experimental results show that the piston errors of the reflected beams are 2kδ and kδ for the former and the latter scheme, respectively, where k is the wave number and δ is the optical path difference (OPD) variation introduced into the pass.  相似文献

The beam quality of a single-rod Nd: YAG laser with wavelength of 1.06 m was improved almost up to the diffraction limit by using a phase-conjugating mirror (PCM) based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) with acetone as the SBS medium. The new start cavity, which is the concave-convex cavity operating near the limit of stability in the g diagram, and the phase conjugation cavity of the SBS oscillator were designed. The thermal lens of the material with focal lengths of less than 140 m at pump powers of 60 J was compensated by the PCM. The laser is Q-switched by the nonlinear reflectivity of the PCM and the system works with an average repetition rate of about 5 kHz and single Q-switch pulse showed a width of 10 ns. It is demonstrated that if the start cavity is fit for SBS and the SBS phase conjugation mirror can be optimized, the beam quality of solid laser can be surely enhanced because of this technology of nonlinear optics.  相似文献

A 1.5 J Nd:LuAG ceramic active mirror laser amplifier with a high beam quality is demonstrated in which a 0.8%(atomic fraction)Nd-doped Nd:LuAG ceramic disk with a diameter of 64 mm and a thickness of 5.5 mm is used as a laser gain medium.A maximum single-pass small-signal gain of 2.59 is measured when the pump energy is 11.5 J,with an injected seed energy of 0.4 J;a maximum output energy of 1.5 J is obtained at the repetition rate of 10 Hz.A far-field beam spot 1.25 times the diffraction limit(DL)is achieved by using a stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugation mirror(SBS-PCM)for wavefront correction.  相似文献

A new approach to realize high-energy and high-power stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugation mirrors (SBS-PCMs) is described.The reflectivity of SBS-PCM is investigated under a 10-Hz repetition rate and a high energy load.The relationship between reflectivity and input energy is examined experimentally with different PCM structures,focus lengths,and medium cell structures.A medium cell with a circulating structure is designed,and its advantage is demonstrated through an experimental comparison with traditional PCM structures.The 30-cm focus lens and 150-cm collimation lens are optimized when the input energy reaches 1010 mJ at 10-Hz repetition rate.Therefore,a reflectivity of 84.7% and a higher energy load using the circulating two-cell structure are achieved.  相似文献

提出了一种可以满足大能量高峰值功率受激布里渊散射(SBS)相位共轭镜要求的独立双池结构,这种结构用在双程激光放大光路中可以补偿单程放大光路产生的动态和静态相位畸变.在7.1 J的入射能量下,最终得到了大于13 J的能量输出.相位共轭镜的能量反射率大于65%,相位共轭保真度达到90%,并且比较了以0°平面反射镜和以SBS相位共轭镜为腔镜的双程激光放大的输出结果,结果表明使用了SBS相位共轭镜之后,即使在大能量抽运的条件下也能得到很好的近场和远场保真度. 关键词: 受激布里渊散射 相位共轭镜 双程放大激光器 保真度  相似文献

A new technique for combining low-power laser beams has been demonstrated by use of semiconductor diode lasers. The technique, which is appropriate for any single-longitudinal-mode laser, is based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in long multimode optical fibers. It produces a clean Gaussian-like beam that corresponds to the fundamental fiber mode, irrespective of the profile of the pump. Coherent as well as incoherent combining was demonstrated, and conversion slope efficiencies as high as 67% and 83% were shown to be achievable for the single-pass and ring-cavity SBS geometries, respectively.  相似文献

利用受激布里渊散射相位共轭镜改善XeCl激光光束质量和压缩脉冲宽度,给出了脉宽与泵浦能量、焦点位置的关系。光脉冲宽度从50ns压缩到17ns,光束发散角也减小到原来的1/3,散射光功率密度也较泵浦光得到了提高。  相似文献

利用受激布里渊散射相位共轭技术,补偿激光大气传输过程中由于大气湍流等因素所造成的激光波前畸变,并且引入速度补偿镜方法,对模拟运动目标进行激光跟踪瞄准。利用高斯光束的无限腔长相位共轭腔理论分析了这种跟瞄方法的可行性。在室外1.27km距离,进行了在轨运动目标跟踪瞄准的原理性实验研究,实验结果表明,利用受激布里渊散射相位共轭技术和速度补偿镜方法,可以实现对在轨运动目标的跟踪瞄准,并且通过此方法,可以把激光能量能较好地集中于目标上一个很小的区域内。到达目标的最大共轭光能量为24.0mJ。  相似文献

We investigate the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS)properties of light beams carrying orbit angular momentum(OAM).The phase conjugation of light beams carrying OAM is experimentally achieved in an SBS mirror with a random phase plate.The spectrum and the pulse width compression of SBS light are measured.It is shown that the phenomena of pulse compression is observed and OAM conservation is confirmed in the SBS process.The OAM transfer from photons to phonons may find potential applications in photon-phonon conversion-based signal-processing schemes by using OAM multiplexing.  相似文献

Beam recombination characteristics were numerically investigated in array laser amplification using stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugation. To clarify the effect of piston errors due to imperfect phase locking, spatial intensity profiles of the beam recombination output were calculated in both the near and the far field on the basis of Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction theory. The analyses indicate that piston errors are seriously detrimental to the quality of a beam recombination output and should be eliminated by a proper phase locking. In the field of Brillouin lidar, it has very important significance to find one method that can amplify the Brillouin scattering signal in real time. One new-type Brillouin lidar detection system based on Nd:YAG pulsed laser and polarization control device is designed in this paper. The key point of this detection system is to have two pulsed coherent lights with same frequency, same polarization and same initial phase, of which one beam is taken as the detection wave for generating stimulated Brillouin scattering signal and the other beam is taken as pumping wave for real time and effective amplification of stimulated Brillouin scattering signal. This detection system mainly includes two pulsed lasers and one electro-optical polarization controller. The laser is mainly used to obtain the pulsed lights with same frequency and same phase, and the polarization controller is mainly used to change the polarization state of two coaxial beams to make them change into same polarization state from orthogonal polarization state thus to enable the pumping wave to amplify the backward stimulated Brillouin scattering signal. It is shown from the experimental results that the adoption of this new system can realize the effect of pumping amplification and can increase the signal to noise ratio to a certain extent.  相似文献

Stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugate mirrors (SBS-PCMs) are extensively used to compensate the phase distortion of active media in a high-energy laser system with double-pass amplification. However, the depolarization loss from the thermally induced birefringence of the active medium by a photoelastic effect cannot be avoided despite the uses of phase conjugate mirrors. In this work, the depolarization loss in a double-pass Nd:YAG rod amplifier with a SBS-PCM has been studied with Jones matrix calculations. In addition, the depolarization ratios and the leak beam patterns are obtained experimentally and theoretically for four possible optical schemes. Both experiment and theoretical results show that depolarization is effectively compensated when a Faraday rotator is located after the amplifier.  相似文献

Summary An oscillator and a regenerative amplifier have been realized using a phase conjugate mirror in the amplifier laser cavity. The phase conjugate mirror, via stimulated Brillouin scattering, acts as a modulator owing to its time-depending reflectivity. A pulse-forming network applied to the amplifier increases the discharging time which contributes to get an output beam formed by a train having four short pulses. An oscillator-amplifier XeCl laser system has been used to experimentally investigate the effectiveness of a liquid stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) mirror for correcting the spatial aberrations of broad-band laser radiation in a double-pass amplifier. It has been found that the SBS amplifier performance is strongly dependent on the intensity I p exciting the Brillouin medium. A good beam reconstruction has been attained at I p1GW/cm2, whereas highly aberrated output beams have been delivered by the SBS amplifier for I p>1 GW/cm2. By comparing the broad-band SBS amplifier performance to that of the same amplifier with a dielectrically coated flat mirror at one end, it has been found that the use of a SBS mirror is advantageous to obtain lower divergence output beams only for low energy pump beams (<1 mJ).  相似文献

This paper describes and characterizes a detailed experiment that proves the phase conjugating properties of stimulated Brillouin scattering in multimode fibers (km of length), a problem still in debate in the literature, by studying the random aberrations correction abilities of this nonlinear interaction. Detailed qualitative and quantitative evaluation of aberration correction, by using the M2 beam propagation ratio as a criterion to assess beam quality of the beams, proves the phase conjugation via SBS in long MM fibers. A new parameter to characterize the efficiency of the SBS phase conjugation process is proposed and conditions to obtain a complete healing of distortions (complete phase conjugation) are discussed.  相似文献
