We report on results of an experiment to study the reaction p + in the incident pion momentum region between 295 and 450 MeV/c. A departure from phase space was observed in invariant-mass spectra and angular distributions which cannot be explained with and resonance production. The reactions π+ p→π+(K + K ? π+ π? p andppp(K + K ? π+ π?)p where the (K + K ? π+ π?) system is centrally produced have been studied at 85 GeV/c. 48% of the final state proceeds through single or double vector meson resonant production i.e.,K *0(890) (37%), ? (4%),ρ 0 (7%). Evidence is found for associatedK *0 (890) \(\bar K\) *o (890) production (6.4±1.1%) with a cross section ten times higher than that found for associated ? ? production in the same experiment.  相似文献

A NN model inspired by Quantum Chromodynamics is presented. Fermilab data for the angular distribution measurements of the reaction p 0n are investigated and it is shown that a good fit with experiment is obtained by using a simple Regge pole model with phenomenological residue functions. We present evidence for the first observation of electromagnetically bound π ± K ???-pairs (πK-atoms) with the DIRAC-II experiment at the CERN-PS. The πK-atoms are produced by the 24 GeV/c proton beam in a thin Pt-target and the dissociated π ± and K ???-mesons analyzed in a two-arm magnetic spectrometer. The observed enhancement at low relative momentum corresponds to the production of 173±54 πK-atoms. The mean life of πK-atoms is related to the s-wave πK-scattering lengths. From these first data we derive a lower limit for the mean life of 1.5 fs at 84% confidence level.  相似文献

Photoproduction of neutral pions from nuclei (carbon, calcium, niobium, lead) has been studied for incident-photon energies from 200 MeV to 800 MeV with the TAPS detector using the Glasgow photon tagging spectrometer at the Mainz MAMI accelerator. Data were obtained for the inclusive photoproduction of neutral pions and the partial channels of quasifree single- , double- , and photoproduction. They have been analyzed in terms of the in-medium behavior of nucleon resonances and the pion-nucleus interaction. They are compared to earlier measurements from the deuteron and to the predictions of a Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) transport model for photon-induced pion production from nuclei.PACS: 13.60.Le Meson production - 25.20.Lj Photoproduction reactions  相似文献

The quantized pion field in the presence of an external electromagnetic field is first treated. Then the propability of absorption of pions by nuclei, followed by the emission of two nucleons, is evaluated without introducing adjustable parameters or singular two-body forces (repulsive core) between nucleons. This calculation yields results whose order of magnitude agrees with the available data, and whose form corresponds to the semi-empirical formulae in use.  相似文献

CVD polycrystalline diamond film, pulse laser-deposited (PLD) carbon film and highly oriented pirolitical graphite (HOPG) as reference, were modified by means of Ar+ ion bombardment and characterized by means of Raman scattering, transmission electron microscopy, electron-diffraction (TEM), reflected electron energy loss specroscopy (REELS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. It was found that the diamond was transferred to a carbon with halo-like morphology and disordered stack of graphene segments. Instead of the well-known electron energy loss peak of graphite at 6.5 eV, a new REELS peak appeared at 4-5 eV energies. The observed effect was explained by the modification of π-system in carbon films as a consequence of the formation of non-planar, nanometer-sized graphitic planes.  相似文献

We calculate the processes \(D_s^ + \to \pi ^ + s\bar s\) and D s + π+resonance, respectively, in the spectator and W-annihilation mechanisms. The data on the reaction D s + π+ρ0, which is due to the W-annihilation mechanism only, point to a negligibly small contribution of the W annihilation to the production of scalar-isoscalar resonances D s + +f0. As to spectator mechanism, we evaluate the \(1^3 P_0 s\bar s\) component in the resonances f0(980), f0(1300), and f0(1500) and broad state f0(1200–1600) on the basis of data on the decay ratios D s + +f0/(D s + +θ). The data point to a large \(s\bar s\) component in the \(f_0 (980):40 \lesssim s\bar s \lesssim 70\% \). Nearly 30% of the \(1^3 P_0 s\bar s\) component flows to the mass region 1300–1500 MeV, being shared by f0(1300), f0(1500), and broad state f0(1200–1600): the interference of these states results in a peak near 1400 MeV with the width around 200 MeV. Our calculations show that the yield of the radial-excitation state\(2^3 P_0 s\bar s\)is relatively suppressed, \({{\Gamma (D_s^ + \to \pi ^ + (2^3 P_0 s\bar s))} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\Gamma (D_s^ + \to \pi ^ + (2^3 P_0 s\bar s))} {\Gamma (D_s^ + \to \pi ^ + (1^3 P_0 s\bar s))}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\Gamma (D_s^ + \to \pi ^ + (1^3 P_0 s\bar s))}} \lesssim 0.05\).  相似文献

An attempt has been made to obtain ground-state charge distributions (as reflected by proton and carbon-13 magnetic shielding constants), ionization potentials, and pi-electron excitation energies for a number of substituted benzenes. A standard SCF-LCAO-MO method was employed, with the total-spin-differential overlap approximation. Excitation energies were obtained by the method of configuration interaction using all singly-excited configurations. Approximations were introduced so that only two parameters had to be specified for each atom. Since the two-centre repulsion integrals introduced by Mataga gave the best results for benzene, they were used throughout. Heteroatom parameters were chosen empirically, with the help of McWeeny's self-consistent perturbation theory, to give the best overall results for monosubstituted compounds. In general the calculated results were very reasonable.  相似文献

The photoproduction of two neutral pions from the deuteron has been studied for incident photon energies from 200 MeV to 820 MeV with the TAPS spectrometer at MAMI (Mainz Microtron). The total cross-section was determined and used to deduce the cross-section from the neutron. Due to the good statistical quality of the data Dalitz plots for the three particles in the exit channel (π0π0 N) could be constructed. The invariant mass distributions derived from them are presented in this paper. They indicate that the important reaction mechanism in the second resonance region is a sequential decay pattern involving the population of the Δ(1232)-resonance as an intermediate state. We review the cross-sections for low-energy π-γ reactions in the framework of chiral perturbation theory. Charged-pion Compton scattering, π-γ → π-γ , is considered up to one-loop order where the pion's internal structure enters through the difference of the electric and magnetic pion polarizability, απ - βπ . The ongoing COMPASS experiment aims at measuring this important structure constant with high statistics using the Primakoff effect. In the same way, the reaction π-γ → π-π0 serves as a test of the QCD chiral anomaly (via the γ3π -coupling constant F γ3π . Furthermore, we calculate the total cross-sections for neutral and charged pion-pair production, π-γ → π-π0π0 and π-γ → π-π+π- , which are governed by the chiral ππ -interaction. Finally, we investigate the radiative (correction) process π-γ → π-γγ and calculate the corresponding two-photon mass spectrum. This information will be useful for analyzing the π- Primakoff scattering events with photons in the final state.  相似文献

Differential cross sections and beam asymmetries for coherent π0 photoproduction from 4He in the Δ energy-range have been measured with high statistical and systematic precision using both decay photons for identifying the process. The experiment was performed at the MAinz MIcrotron using the TAPS photon spectrometer and the Glasgow/Mainz tagged photon facility. The differential cross sections are in excellent agreement with predictions based on the DWIA if an appropriate parametrization of the Δ-nuclear interaction is applied. The beam asymmetries are interpreted in terms of degrees of linear polarization of collimated coherent bremsstrahlung. The expected increase of the degree of linear polarization with decreasing collimation angle is confirmed. Agreement with calculations is obtained on a few-percent level of precision in the maxima of the coherent peaks.  相似文献

Data on fast protons and antiprotons produced byπ ± incident on hydrogen and nuclear targets at 30 GeV/c are presented. The results covering the kinematic range 0.32 F <0.54 andp T >0.2 GeV/c, complete our previous paper. We give results on inclusive cross-sections as a function ofx F , ofp T 2 and on cross-section ratios. A search for effects of nuclear matter on the production of protons and antiprotons has yielded no major effects beyond final state absorption.  相似文献

The pionic decay of a possible dibaryon, d’ → πNN, is studied in the model assuming the production of 3 P 0 quark-antiquark pairs and in other models of effective quark-pion coupling. The vertex constants and the form factors for pion-baryon and pion-dibaryon couplings are calculated. The effect of the internal pion structure on decay widths is investigated. It is shown that the quark structure of the nucleon-nucleon wave function in the overlap region plays an important role in dibaryon decays, and known models of nucleon-nucleon interaction are analyzed with allowance for this circumstance. The decay width of a dibaryon is estimated as a function of its effective mass in nuclear matter.  相似文献

Abstract

While the simple PPP model accounts for the absolute signs of low-energy π? transitions in cyclic π-electron chromophores (numerous new examples of application to heterocycles are given), its greatest contribution lies in the formulation of simple general rules. The previously known mirror-image pairing theorem for charged alternant hydrocarbons and the soft-hard rule for substituent and heteroatom effects on cyclic π-systems are now complemented by a ΔHOMO-ΔLUMO rule which permits prediction of the absolute sign of the lowest energy B term in cyclic π-systems which are formally related to an annulene containing 4N+2 electrons.  相似文献
