Characterization and electrical properties of vanadium-copper-phosphate glasses of compositions xV2O5-(40−x)CuO-60P2O5 have been reported. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirms the amorphous nature of these glasses. It was observed that, the density (d) decreases gradually while the molar volume (Vm) increases with the increase of the vanadium oxide content in such glasses. This may be due to the effect of the polarizing power strength, PPS, which is a measure of ratio of the cation valance to its diameter. The dc conductivity increases while the activation energy decreases with the increase of the V2O5 content. The dc conductivity in the present glasses is electronic and depends strongly upon the average distance, R, between the vanadium ions. Analysis of the electrical properties has been made in the light of small polaron hopping model. The parameters obtained from the fits of the experimental data to this model are reasonable and consistent with glass composition. The conduction is attributed to non-adiabatic hopping of small polaron.  相似文献

The DC and AC conductivities of samples from the system (As2S3)100−x(AsSe0.5Te0.5I)x, where x=0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 50, 70 and 90 mol%, were measured as a function of temperature. Besides, the AC conductivities of the samples with x=10 and 30 were measured as a function of frequency from room temperature to the glass transition temperature. The DC conductivity dependence on temperature is of the Arrhenius type, whereas the value of the pre-exponential factor suggests the electrical conduction by localized states in the band tails and by localized states near the Fermi level. The small values of the conduction activation energy (10−2-10−1 eV) obtained at higher frequencies suggest that the conduction in these materials is due to hopping of charge carriers between close defect states near the Fermi level.  相似文献

The magnetic and electron transport properties of rhombohedral LixVyO2 (x=0.8 and y=0.8) are studied. The dc susceptibility of LixVyO2 can be well fitted to the modified Curie-Weiss law, which verified the paramagnetic ground state. The magnetic hysteresis and ac susceptibility also confirm this paramagnetism. The LixVyO2 exhibits semiconducting behavior, which is explained by thermal activated process at high temperature and variable-range hopping mechanism at low temperature. Anderson localization plays an important role in both the electron transport behavior and the magnetic behavior due to the site disorder between the Li+ ion and V4+ ion.  相似文献

Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X- ray diffraction (XRD), density (d), oxygen molar volume (Vm) and dc conductivity of different compositions of calcium vanadate glasses are reported. SEM exhibits a surface without any presence of a microstructure which is a characteristic of the amorphous phase. The overall features of these XRD curves confirm the amorphous nature of the present glasses. Density was observed to decrease with an increase in V2O5 content. The experimental results were analyzed with reference to theoretical models existing in the literature. It has been observed that the high-temperature conductivity data are consistent with Mott's nearest-neighbor hopping model. However, both Mott variable-range hopping (VRH) and Greaves intermediate range hopping models are found to be applicable. The hopping at high temperatures in the calcium vanadate glasses occurs by non-adiabatic process in contrast to the vanadate glasses formed with conventional network formers. The hopping model of Schnakenberg can predict the temperature dependence of the conductivity data. The percolation model of Triberis and Friedman applied to the small polaron hopping (SPH) regime is also consistent with data. The various model parameters such as density of states, hopping energy, etc., obtained from the best fits were found to be consistent with the glass compositions.  相似文献

Structural analysis of x[(100−y)Ag2yMnO]·(100−x)[2B2O3·As2O3] glasses, with x=10 mol% and 0≤y≤10 mol%, was performed by means of FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopies. The purpose of this work is to investigate the structural changes that appear in the xAg2O·(100−x)·[2B2O3·As2O3] glasses with the addition and increase in manganese ions content. FT-IR measurements revealed the presence of pyro-, ortho-, di-, tri-, tetra- and penta-borate groups and structural units characteristic to As2O3 in the structure of the studied glasses. FT-IR spectroscopy measurements also show that BO3 units are the main structural units of the glass system. The presence of structural units characteristic to Ag2O were not directly evidenced by FT-IR spectroscopy. In addtition, the FT-Raman analysis evidenced the presence of boroxol rings in the structure of the studied glasses.  相似文献

Aurivillius SrBi2(Nb0.5Ta0.5)2O9 (SBNT 50/50) ceramics were prepared using the conventional solid-state reaction method. Scanning electron microscopy was applied to investigate the grain structure. The XRD studies revealed an orthorhombic structure in the SBNT 50/50 with lattice parameters a=5.522 Å, b=5.511 Å and c=25.114 Å. The dielectric properties were determined by impedance spectroscopy measurements. A strong low frequency dielectric dispersion was found to exist in this material. Its occurrence was ascribed to the presence of ionized space charge carriers such as oxygen vacancies. The dielectric relaxation was defined on the basis of an equivalent circuit. The temperature dependence of various electrical properties was determined and discussed. The thermal activation energy for the grain electric conductivity was lower in the high temperature region (T>303.6 °C, Ea−ht=0.47 eV) and higher in the low temperature region (T<303.6 °C, Ea−lt=1.18 eV).  相似文献

Dielectric properties, viz. dielectric constant ε′, loss tan δ and a.c conductivity σac (over a wide range of frequency and temperature) and dielectric breakdown strength of PbO-Sb2O3-As2O3 glasses doped with V2O5 (ranging from 0 to 0.5 mol%) are studied. Analysis of these results, based on optical absorption and ESR spectra, indicates that the insulating strength of the glasses is comparatively high when the concentration of V2O5 is about 0.3 mol% in the glass matrix.  相似文献

Glasses with composition xBi2O3·(30−x)M2O·70B2O3 (M=Li, Na) containing 2 mol% V2O5 have been prepared over the range 0≤x≤15 (x is in mol%). The electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of VO2+ of these glasses have been recorded in the X-band (≈9.3 GHz) at room temperature (RT≈300 K). Spin Hamiltonian parameters, g, g, A, A, dipolar hyperfine coupling parameter, P, and Fermi contact interaction parameter, K, have been calculated. The molecular orbital coefficients, α2 and γ2, have been calculated by recording the optical transmission spectra. In xBi2O3·(30−x)Li2O·70B2O3 glasses there is decrease in the tetragonality of the V4+O6 complex for x up to 6 mol% whereas for x≥6 mol%, tetragonality increases. In xBi2O3·(30−x)Na2O·70B2O3 glasses there is increase in the tetragonality of the V4+O6 complex with increasing x. The 3dxy orbit expands with increase in Bi2O3:M2O ratio. Values of the theoretical optical basicity, Λth, have also been reported. The DC conductivity increases with increase in temperature. The order of conductivity is 10−5 ohm−1 m−1 at low temperature and 10−3 ohm−1 m−1 at high temperature. The DC conductivity decreases and the activation energy increases with increase in Bi2O3:M2O ratio.  相似文献

Concentration dependent positron annihilation lifetime (PAL) measurements on Cr doped La0.5Pb0.5Mn1−yCryO3 (y=0.075, 0.15, 0.3, 0.35, 0.45) samples showing metal-insulator transitions (MIT) between 178 and 276 K (depending on y) reveal anomalous variation of average and bulk PAL, τav and τB, respectively, around y=0.35. Such anomaly has not, however, been observed from the corresponding magnetic susceptibility and resistivity data. Interestingly, the model parameters (polaron radius, number of ion sites per unit volume) obtained from fitting the high temperature (above MIT, Tp) resistivity data with small polaron hopping model show the signature of the said anomaly around the same concentration. Nonlinear variations of τav and τB support the existence of small polarons (T>Tp) which act as defect centers in such rare-earth manganites. Analysis of X-ray diffraction pattern confirms a change of lattice parameters indicating a structural transformation from rhombohedral (for y≤0.30) to orthorhombic (for y≥0.35) in the present system.  相似文献

PbO-Sb2O3 glasses added with different concentrations of As2O3 (10-55 mol%) were prepared to understand their IR spectra, elastic properties (Young's modulus E, Shear modulus G, microhardness H), optical absorption and dielectric properties (constant ε, loss tan δ, ac conductivity σac over a moderately wide range of frequency and temperature and breakdown strength in air medium at room temperature). Results have indicated that the structure of the PbO-Sb2O3-As2O3 glass is more rigid when the concentration of As2O3 is around 40 mol%.  相似文献

Nanoparticles of Co1−xZnxFe2O4 with stoichiometric proportion (x) varying from 0.0 to 0.6 were prepared by the chemical co-precipitation method. The samples were sintered at 600 °C for 2 h and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), low field AC magnetic susceptibility, DC electrical resistivity and dielectric constant measurements. From the analysis of XRD patterns, the nanocrystalline ferrite had been obtained at pH=12.5–13 and reaction time of 45 min. The particle size was calculated from the most intense peak (3 1 1) using the Scherrer formula. The size of precipitated particles lies within the range 12–16 nm, obtained at reaction temperature of 70 °C. The Curie temperature was obtained from AC magnetic susceptibility measurements in the range 77–850 K. It is observed that Curie temperature decreases with the increase of Zn concentration. DC electrical resistivity measurements were carried out by two-probe method from 370 to 580 K. Temperature-dependent DC electrical resistivity decreases with increase in temperature ensuring the semiconductor nature of the samples. DC electrical resistivity results are discussed in terms of polaron hopping model. Activation energy calculated from the DC electrical resistivity versus temperature for all the samples ranges from 0.658 to 0.849 eV. The drift mobility increases by increasing temperature due to decrease in DC electrical resisitivity. The dielectric constants are studied as a function of frequency in the range 100 Hz–1 MHz at room temperature. The dielectric constant decreases with increasing frequency for all the samples and follow the Maxwell–Wagner's interfacial polarization.  相似文献

Studies of structural and electrical properties have been carried out on a number of glasses with wide ranging compositions in the glass systems Li2O·MO·Bi2O3·B2O3 (where M=Zn or Cd), in order to understand the effect of transition metal (TM) ions on the structure of these glasses. The density and molar volume measurements have also been made to understand the structural changes occurring in these glasses. The dc conductivity measured in the temperature range 423-623 K obeys Arrhenius law. It increases with increase in Li2O/MO ratio. The results of infrared spectra indicate that TM ions (Zn2+ or Cd2+) behave as network former in the present system. Boron exists in both tri- and tetra-hedral units in these glasses and no boroxol ring formation takes place in the glass structure. Values of theoretical optical basicity have also been reported.  相似文献

Binary (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glasses doped with Eu2O3 and nanoparticles of Gd2O3:Eu were prepared by conventional melt-quench method and their luminescence properties were compared. Undoped (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glass is characterized by a luminescent defect centre (similar to L-centre present in Na2O-SiO2 glasses) with emission around 324 nm and having an excited state lifetime of 18 ns. Such defect centres can transfer the energy to Eu3+ ions leading to improved Eu3+ luminescence from such glasses. Based on the decay curves corresponding to the 5D0 level of Eu3+ ions in both Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles incorporated as well as Eu2O3 incorporated glasses, a significant clustering of Eu3+ ions taking place with the latter sample is confirmed. From the lifetime studies of the excited state of L-centre emission from (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glass doped with Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles, it is established that there exists weak energy transfer from L-centres to Eu3+ ions. Poor energy transfer from the defect centres to Eu3+ ions in Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles doped (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glass has been attributed to effective shielding of Eu3+ ions from the luminescence centre by Gd-O-P type of linkages, leading to an increased distance between luminescent centre and Eu3+ ions.  相似文献

Crystal structure, thermogravimetry (TG), thermal expansion coefficient (TEC), electrical conductivity and AC impedance of (Ba0.5Sr0.5)1-xLaxCo0.8Fe0.2O3-δ (BSLCF; 0.05?x?0.20) were studied in relation to their potential use as intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFC) cathode. A single cubic pervoskite was observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The TEC of BSLCF was increasing slightly with the increasing content of La, and all the compounds showed abnormal expansion at high temperature. Proved by the TG result, it was associated with the loss of lattice oxygen. The electrical conductivity, which is the main defect of Ba0.5Sr0.5 Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ (BSCF), was improved by La doping, e.g., the compound of x=0.20 demonstrated a conductivity of σ=376 S cm−1 at 392 °C. The increase of electrical conductivity resulted from the increased concentration of charge carrier induced by La doping. In addition, the AC impedance revealed the better electrochemical performance of BSLCF. For example, at 500 °C, the sample with composition x=0.15 yielded the resistance values of 2.12 Ω cm2, which was only 46% of BSCF.  相似文献

A novel inorganic solid electrolyte with a layered framework structure stable up to 1043 K, Na14.5[Al(PO4)2F2]2.5[Ti(PO4)2F2]0.5 (NATP), has been hydrothermally prepared and characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction techniques, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis, IR spectroscopic measurement, thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA and DTA). NATP crystallizes in the acentric hexagonal space group P3 with a=10.448(2), b=10.448(2), , Z=1, containing a large number of Na+ cations in the interlamellar space and the cavities of its framework. There are six different crystallographic Na+ cationic sites, in which 8% Na(5) and 12% Na(6) sites are vacant. Electrical conductivity measurements show that Na+ cations exhibit a high mobility with two domains for the electrical conductivity versus temperature.  相似文献

Glasses with molar composition of (100-x)B2O3-x[0.5 BaO-0.5 ZnO], x=40, 50, 60, 70 were prepared from the melts of ZnO, BaCO3 and H3BO3 mixture. The structure and thermal behavior were characterized by IR and Raman spectroscopy, DSC and Dilatometer. The investigation shows that the transition of the structural unit [BO4] (BIV) to [BO3] (BIII) happens when BaO and ZnO content x increases in the borate glass, resulting in fewer BIII-O-BIV bonds and more BIII-O-BIII bonds. At the same time, the diborate groups, which are found to be the predominant structural group of the glass with high B2O3 content, gradually changes into ring-type metaborate, pyro- and orthoborate groups. With increasing ZnO and BaO content x, the glass transition temperature (Tg) and the softening point (Tf) decreases, while linear expansion coefficient (α) increases, that comes from the weakening of the glass network.  相似文献

We report, for the first time the study of mixed alkali effect (MAE) in boroarsenate glasses. Density, DSC, DC electrical conductivity and IR studies have been carried out for xK2O-(40−x)Na2O-50B2O3-10As2O3 glasses. The DC electrical conductivity was measured in the temperature range 100 °C to below the glass transition temperature. The strength of the MAE in Tg, DC electrical conductivity and activation energy has been determined. It is observed that the strength of MAE in DC electrical conductivity is less pronounced with increase in temperature. The results are explained by the structural model recently proposed by Swenson and coworkers, supporting molecular dynamic results. The IR studies show that the glass system contains BO3 and BO4 units in the disordered manner.  相似文献

A novel set of glasses of the type (B2O3)0.10-(P2O5)0.40-(CuO)0.50−x-(MoO3)x, 0.05≤x≥0.50, have been investigated for dielectric properties in the frequency range 100 Hz-100 kHz and temperature range 300-575 K. From the total conductivity derived from the dielectric spectrum the frequency exponent, s, and dc and ac components of the conductivity were determined. The temperature dependence of dc and ac conductivities at different frequencies was analyzed using Mott's small polaron hopping model, and the high temperature activation energies have been estimated and discussed. The observed initial decrease in conductivity (ac and dc) and increase in activation energy with the addition of MoO3 have been understood to be due to the hindrance offered by the Mo+ ions to the electronic motions. The observed peak-like behavior in conductivity (dip-like behavior in activation energy) in the composition range 0.20-0.50 mol fractions of MoO3 may be due to mixed transition effect occurring in the present glasses. The temperature dependence of frequency exponent, s, has been analyzed using different theoretical models. It is for the first time that the mixed transition metal ion (TMI) doped borophosphate glasses have been investigated for dielectric properties and conductivity over wide temperature and frequency ranges and the data have been subjected to a thorough analysis.  相似文献

xV2O5xCeO2–(30−x)PbO–(70−x) B2O3 glasses are synthesized by using the melt quench technique. The number of studies such as XRD, density, molar volume, optical band gap, refractive index and FTIR spectroscopy are employed to characterize the glasses. The band gap decreases from 2.20 to 1.78 eV and density increases from 3.49 to 4.25 g/cm3. FTIR spectroscopy reveals that incorporation of V2O5 in glass network helps to convert the structural units of [BO3] into [BO4]. At higher concentration of vanadium, VO vibration of [VO5] structural units and V–O–V vibration are present. The bond ionicity of glasses increases with incorporation of V2O5 contents.  相似文献

We have studied physical properties and crystal structures for oxygen-deficient phases of the cubic ordered-perovskite cuprate, Sr2Cu(Re0.69Ca0.31)Oy (y=6.0−5.4). It was found that the magnetic state undergoes phase transition from ferrimagnetic long-range order for y?5.9 to paramagnetism for y?5.7 via re-entrant-type spin-glass randomness in the narrow composition range around y∼5.8, as the oxygen content y decreases. The electrical resistivity becomes insulated, and the lattice constant expands simultaneously with decrease in y. The abrupt suppression of the ferrimagnetic state was observed in the oxygen-deficiency phase around 5.9?y?5.7. This is presumably attributed to microscopic phase separation accompanied by the partial cut-off of the Cu–O–Cu antiferromagnetic correlation path, which is caused by cation disorder and reduction of the oxidation state of the cations.  相似文献
