Characterization of types of asymptotic discernibility of families of hypotheses

We give a characterization of the types of asymptotic discernibility of families of hypotheses in the case of hypothetical measures that are not, in general, mutually absolutely continuous. The case when the logarithm of the likelihood ratio admits an asymptotic expansion of the type of an expansion with local asymptotic normality is examined in detail. Singularities of Solutions of One Class of Equations of Continuum Mechanics

We analyze one class of families of integral equations and describe the dependence of the singularities of solutions of integral equations on the dimensions of the families of kernels of equations. On the basis of these results, we propose procedures for the construction of approximate solutions for a small parameter.     

Determination of asymptotic solutions of problems of nonlinear theories of thermoviscoelasticity

Emptiness of set of points of lower semicontinuity of Lyapunov exponents

We consider parametric families of differential systems with coefficients that are bounded and continuous on the half-line and uniformly in time continuously depend on a real parameter. For each Lyapunov exponent, we construct a family such that the Lyapunov exponent of its systems treated as a function of the parameter is not a lower semicontinuous function for any value of the parameter.

Invariant properties of systems of equations of the mechanics of inhomogeneous fluids

The invariant properties of the fundamental system of equations of the mechanics of inhomogeneous fluids and its widely used approximations are analysed by the methods of continuous group theory. Simplifying assumptions significantly alter the invariant properties of the systems of equations. Both extending and contracting the admissible symmetry group can occur and provide evidence of the violation of the conditions of equivalence between the original and derived systems. For example, the use of the incompressibility and Boussinesq approximations leads to extension of the concept of an inertial reference frame to all frames moving relative to one another with arbitrary linear acceleration.     

有资格限制的指派问题的求解方法

在实际的指派工作中，常会遇到某个人有没有资格去承担某项工作的问题，因此，本建立了有资格限制的指派问题的数学模型。在此数学模型中，将效益矩阵转化为判定矩阵，由此给出了判定此种指派问题是否有解的方法；在有解的情况下，进一步将效益矩阵转化为求解矩阵，从而将有资格限制的指派问题化为传统的指派问题来求解。最后给出了一个数值例子来说明这样的处理方法是有效的。     

Stability estimates of solutions of systems of functional-differential equations of neutral type

A system of linear functional-differential equations of neutral type is considered. Investigation of stability is carried out by the method of Lyapunov functions of quadratic form. Estimates of stability of characterization of additive types of distributions

An estimate of stability of characterization of distribution types is obtained for the case of additive types. Under some conditions, the estimate has the order ε^1/3L(ε), where L(ε) is a slowly varying function. Axiomatizability of reducts of algebras of relations

In this paper, we prove that any subreduct of the class of representable relation algebras whose similarity type includes intersection, relation composition and converse is a non-finitely axiomatizable quasivariety and that its equational theory is not finitely based. We show the same result for subreducts of the class of representable cylindric algebras of dimension at least three whose similarity types include intersection and cylindrifications. Optimal control of the process of electroplating of parts of axisymmetric shape

We state the problem of optimal control of the process of electroplating of parts as a problem of coupled optimization. Problems of optimal control of electroheating and subsequent deformation of a metal billet are studied as a coupled problem. Tracing of pseudotrajectories of dynamical systems and stability of prolongations of orbits

We investigate properties of dynamical systems associated with the approximation of pseudotrajectories of a dynamical system by its trajectories. According to modern terminology, a property of this sort is called the “property of tracing pseudotrajectories” (also known in the English literature as the “shadowing property”). We prove that dynamical systems given by mappings of a compact set into itself and possessing this property are systems with stable prolongation of orbits. We construct examples of mappings of an interval into itself that prove that the inverse statement is not true, i.e., that dynamical systems with stable prolongation of orbits may not possess the property of tracing pseudotrajectories. Galois Structure of K-Groups of Rings of Integers

N/Kbe a Galois extension of number fields with finite Galois group G.We describe a new approach for constructing invariants of the G-module structure of the K groups of the ring of integers of N in the Grothendieck group of finitely generated projective Z[G]modules. In various cases we can relate these classes, and their function field counterparts, to the root number class of Fröhlich and Cassou-Noguès.

Lengths of periods of continued fractions of square roots of integers

Empirical study of the period’s length T of the continued fractions of $\sqrt{Q}$ (for growing integers Q) shows several strange asymptotical results, for instance, $T\leq C\sqrt{Q}\ln{Q}$ . These results show important differences between the statistics of the elements of the continued fractions of random real numbers and of square roots of random integers.     

Estimation of the number of components of finite mixtures of multivariate distributions

An estimator of the number of components of a finite mixture ofk-dimensional distributions is given on the basis of a one-dimensional independent random sample obtained by a transformation of ak-dimensional independent random sample. A consistency of the estimator is shown. Some simulation results are given in a case of finite mixtures of two-dimensional normal distributions.     

Construction of normal bases of rings of integral elements of certain fields of algebraic functions

This article is devoted to the construction of normal bases of rings of integral elements of certain fields of algebraic functions. These fields are algebraic extensions of the initial fields, given by appropriate algebraic equations. The extensions are given only by the monodromy group. Rates of Convergence of Means of Euclidean Functionals

Let L be the Euclidean functional with p-th power-weighted edges. Examples include the sum of the p-th power-weighted lengths of the edges in minimal spanning trees, traveling salesman tours, and minimal matchings. Motivated by the works of Steele, Redmond and Yukich (Ann. Appl. Probab. 4, 1057–1073, 1994, Stoch. Process. Appl. 61, 289–304, 1996) have shown that for n i.i.d. sample points {X ₁,…,X _n } from [0,1] ^d , L({X ₁,…,X _n })/n ^(d−p)/d converges a.s. to a finite constant. Computer approximation of families of curves of physically nonlinear creep of polymer materials

The determination of confidence intervals of deformations was studied for an individual measurement and arithmetical mean common for all points of an experimental family of curves. From the experimental data on the creep of polyamide resin and five different analytical equations of physically nonlinear creep, the problems of the computer approximation of families of creep curves and the determination of the material parameters are discussed. Polarizations of Prym varieties of pairs of coverings

To any pair of coverings f_i:X → X_i, i=1, 2, of smooth projective curves one can associate an abelian subvariety of the Jacobian J_X, the Prym variety P(f₁, f₂) of the pair (f₁, f₂). In some cases we can compute the type of the restriction of the canonical principal polarization of J_X. We obtain 2 families of Prym-Tyurin varieties of exponent 6. Received: 2 September 2004
