The nonlinear buckling and postbuckling of a shear-deformable anisotropic laminated cylindrical panel of finite length is investigated based on a boundary-layer theory for buckling. The layers of the panel are assumed to be linearly elastic. The governing equations are based on Reddy’s higher-order shear deformation theory of shells and include the von Karman-type kinematic nonlinearity and extension/twist, extension/flexure, and flexure/twist couplings. The nonlinear prebuckling deformations and the initial geometric imperfections of the panel are both taken into account. The postbuckling behavior of the panel under axial compression is analyzed. A singular perturbation technique is employed to determine its buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths. The numerical illustrations concern the postbuckling behavior of perfect and imperfect moderately thick anisotropic laminated cylindrical panels with different geometric parameters and stacking sequences. The new finding reveals that there arises a compressive stress along with an associate shear stress and twisting when a moderately thick anisotropic laminated cylindrical panel is subjected to axial compression.  相似文献

The nonlinear buckling behavior of a 3D-braided composite cylindrical shell of finite length subjected to internal pressure in thermal environments is considered. According to a new micromacromechanical model, a 3D-braided composite may be treated as a cell system where the geometry of each cell strongly depends on its position in the cross section of the cylindrical shell. The material properties of the epoxy matrix are expressed as linear functions of temperature. The governing equations are based on Reddy’s higher-order shear deformation theory of shells with a von Karman–Donnell-type kinematic nonlinearity and include thermal effects. The singular perturbation technique is employed to determine the buckling pressure and the postbuckling equilibrium paths of the shell.  相似文献

The postbuckling characteristics of the angle-ply laminated composite conical shells subjected to the torsion, the external pressure, the axial compression, and the thermal loading considering uniform temperature change are studied using the semi-analytical finite element approach. The finite element formulation is based on the first-order shear deformation theory and the field consistency principle. The variations in the stiffness coefficients along the meridional direction due to the changes in the ply-angle and the ply-thickness of the filament wound conical shells are incorporated in the finite element formulation. The nonlinear governing equations are solved using the Newton–Raphson iteration procedure coupled with the displacement control method to trace the prebuckling followed by the postbuckling equilibrium path. The presence of asymmetric perturbation in the form of a small magnitude load spatially proportional to the linear buckling mode shape is considered to initiate the bifurcation of the shell deformation. The influence of semi-cone angle, ply-angle and number of circumferential waves on the prebuckling/postbuckling response of the anti-symmetric angle-ply laminated circular conical shells is investigated.  相似文献

本文用Koiter理论分析环肋加劲圆柱壳在静水压力作用下的后屈曲性能.前屈曲状态采用与边界条件一致的非线性有矩方程,本征值问题的解用伽辽金方法求出,得到的临界载荷与经典线性解作了比较.具体计算了三种不同环肋参数的外肋加劲圆柱壳.结果表明,肋的强弱不仅显著影响临界载荷值,同时也改变了柱壳的缺陷敏感度.  相似文献

The multicriteria optimization of the structure and geometry of a laminated cylindrical shell under the action of external pressure and longitudinal thermal stresses is considered. From the known monolayer properties of the composite and the given values of variable structural and geometric parameters, the thermoelastic properties of the anisotropic layered composite are determined. The criteria to be optimized — the critical external pressure and thermal stresses — depend on two variable parameters and temperature. A method for calculating the buckling stability of layered cylindrical shells made of composite materials with one plane of symmetry of mechanical characteristics is worked out. As a special case, shells made of fibrous materials by winding in directions not coinciding with coordinate axes are considered. An analysis of stability of shells under an axial compression, external pressure, and torsion is carried out. It is shown that, at a great number of layers and appropriate reinforcing angles, the shells can be considered orthotropic. The solution to the problem of the initial postbuckling behavior of shells made of composites with one plane of symmetry is also obtained. It is found that shells of this type can be less sensitive to geometrical imperfections. This paper studied compressive postbuckling under thermal environments and thermal postbuckling due to a uniform temperature rise for a shear deformable laminated plate with piezoelectric fiber reinforced composite (PFRC) actuators based on a higher order shear deformation plate theory that includes thermo-piezoelectric effects. The material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent and the initial geometric imperfection of the plate is considered. The compressive and thermal postbuckling behaviors of perfect, imperfect, symmetric cross-ply and antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plates with fully covered or embedded PFRC actuators are conducted under different sets of thermal and electric loading conditions. The results reveal that, the applied voltage usually has a small effect on the postbuckling load–deflection relationship of the plate with PFRC actuators in the compressive buckling case, whereas the effect of applied voltage is more pronounced for the plate with PFRC actuators, compared to the results of the same plate with monolithic piezoelectric actuators.  相似文献

The problem of the buckling of elastic, isotropic, thin-walled cylindrical shells with small initial shape defects that are under the action of an external pressure is solved in a geometrically non-linear formulation. Equations that are identical to Marguerre's equations for a shallow cylindrical shell are used in formulating the problem. The solution is constructed by the Rayleigh–Ritz method with the points of the middle surface of the shell approximated by double functional sums over trigonometric and beam functions. The system of non-linear equations obtained is solved by arc-length methods. Cases of the clamped and supported shells when loading with a lateral and uniform hydrostatic pressure are considered. Its deflections from the limit points of the postbuckling branches of its loading trajectory are used as the initial imperfections. An inspection of the different forms of the initial imperfections when they have maximum values of up to 30% of the shell thickness made it possible to obtain practically the whole range of experimentally found critical pressures.  相似文献
