We construct new homogeneous Einstein spaces with negativeRicci curvature in two ways: First, we give a method for classifying andconstructing a class of rank one Einstein solvmanifolds whose derivedalgebras are two-step nilpotent. As an application, we describe anexplicit continuous family of ten-dimensional Einstein manifolds with atwo-dimensional parameter space, including a continuous subfamily ofmanifolds with negative sectional curvature. Secondly, we obtain newexamples of non-symmetric Einstein solvmanifolds by modifying thealgebraic structure of non-compact irreducible symmetric spaces of rankgreater than one, preserving the (constant) Ricci curvature.  相似文献

We classify noncompact homogeneous spaces which are Einstein and asymptotically harmonic. This completes the classification of Riemannian harmonic spaces in the homogeneous case: Any simply connected homogeneous harmonic space is flat, or rank-one symmetric, or a nonsymmetric Damek–Ricci space. Independently, Y. Nikolayevsky has obtained the latter classification under the additional assumption of nonpositive sectional curvatures [N2]. We construct examples of symmetric submanifolds in Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type and obtain the classification of symmetric submanifolds in irreducible Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type and rank greater than one. This finishes the classification problem of symmetric submanifolds in Riemannian symmetric spaces completely.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the nilradicals of parabolic subalgebras of semisimple Lie algebras and the natural one-dimensional solvable extensions of them. We investigate the structures, curvatures and Einstein conditions of the associated nilmanifolds and solvmanifolds. We show that our solvmanifold is Einstein if the nilradical is two-step. New examples of Einstein solvmanifolds with three-step and four-step nilradicals are also given. The only known examples of non-compact Einstein homogeneous spaces are standard solvmanifolds (special solvable Lie groups endowed with a left invariant metric), and according to a long standing conjecture, they might be all. The classification of Einstein solvmanifolds is equivalent to the one of Einstein nilradicals, i.e. nilpotent Lie algebras which are nilradicals of the Lie algebras of Einstein solvmanifolds. Up to now, very few examples of ${\mathbb N}$ -graded nilpotent Lie algebras that cannot be Einstein nilradicals have been found. In particular, in each dimension, there are only finitely many known. We exhibit in the present paper two curves of pairwise non-isomorphic nine-dimensional two-step nilpotent Lie algebras which are not Einstein nilradicals.  相似文献

We show that a totally geodesic submanifold of a symmetric space satisfying certain conditions admits an extension to a minimal submanifold of dimension one higher, and we apply this result to construct new examples of complete embedded minimal submanifolds in simply connected noncompact globally symmetric spaces.

We study the Ricci curvature of a Riemannian metric as a differential operator acting on the space of metrics close (in a weighted functional spaces topology) to the standard metric of a rank-one noncompact symmetric space. We prove that any symmetric bilinear field close enough to the standard may be realized as the Ricci curvature of a unique close metric if its decay rate at infinity (its weight) belongs to some precisely known interval. We also study what happens if the decay rate is too small or too large.  相似文献

We gave a complete list of totally geodesic submanifolds of maximal rank in symmetric spaces of noncompact type. The compact cases can be obtained by the duality.  相似文献

A Lie hypersurface in the complex hyperbolic space is a homogeneous real hypersurface without focal submanifolds. The set of all Lie hypersurfaces in the complex hyperbolic space is bijective to a closed interval, which gives a deformation of homogeneous hypersurfaces from the ruled minimal one to the horosphere. In this paper, we study intrinsic geometry of Lie hypersurfaces, such as Ricci curvatures, scalar curvatures, and sectional curvatures.  相似文献

In this text, we consider the solvmanifolds obtained by an abelian extension of two-step nilmanifolds and obtain Einstein metrics (with negative scalar curvature) near to the symmetric spaces.  相似文献

We prove Strichartz estimates for radial solutions of the Schrödinger and wave equations on Damek–Ricci spaces, and in particular on symmetric spaces of noncompact type and rank one, using the perturbative theory with potentials. The curvature of the noncompact manifold has an influence on the dispersive properties, and indeed we obtain Strichartz estimates with weights at spatial infinity, which are stronger than the standard ones in the flat case.  相似文献

We investigate the totally geodesic Radon transform which assigns a function to its integration over totally geodesic symmetric submanifolds in Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type. Our main concern is focused on the injectivity and support theorem. Our approach is based on the projection slice theorem relating the totally geodesic Radon transform and the Fourier transforms on symmetric spaces. Our approach also uses the study of geometry concerned with the totally geodesic symmetric subvarieties in Riemannian symmetric spaces in terms of the cell structure of the Satake compactifications.  相似文献

We consider the isometry groups of Riemannian solvmanifolds and also study a wider class of homogeneous aspheric Riemannian spaces. We clarify the topological structure of these spaces (Theorem 1). We demonstrate that each Riemannian space with a maximally symmetric metric admits an almost simply transitive action of a Lie group with triangular radical (Theorem 2). We apply this result to studying the isometry groups of solvmanifolds and, in particular, solvable Lie groups with some invariant Riemannian metric.  相似文献

We study three-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifolds having distinct constant principal Ricci curvatures. These spaces are described via a system of differential equations, and a simple characterization is proved to hold for the locally homogeneous ones. We then generalize the technique used in [O. Kowalski, F. Prüfer, On Riemannian 3-manifolds with distinct constant Ricci eigenvalues, Math. Ann. 300 (1994) 17-28] for Riemannian manifolds and construct explicitly homogeneous and non-homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian metrics in R3, having the prescribed principal Ricci curvatures.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate complete curvature-adapted submanifolds with maximal flat section and trivial normal holonomy group in symmetric spaces of compact type or non-compact type under a certain condition, and derive the constancy of the principal curvatures of such submanifolds. As a result, we derive that such submanifolds are isoparametric.  相似文献

We obtain a volume growth and curvature decay result for various classes of complete, noncompact Riemannian metrics in dimension 4; in particular our method applies to anti-self-dual or Kähler metrics with zero scalar curvature, and metrics with harmonic curvature. Similar results were obtained for Einstein metrics in [And89], [BKN89], [Tia90], but our analysis differs from the Einstein case in that (1) we consider more generally a fourth order system in the metric, and (2) we do not assume any pointwise Ricci curvature bound.  相似文献

The Lichnerowicz conjecture asserted that every harmonic Riemannian manifold is locally isometric to a two-point homogeneous space. In 1992, E. Damek and F. Ricci produced a family of counter-examples to this conjecture, which arise as abelian extensions of two-step nilpotent groups of type-H. In this paper we consider a broader class of Riemannian manifolds: solvmanifolds of Iwasawa type with algebraic rank one and two-step nilradical. Our main result shows that the Damek–Ricci spaces are the only harmonic manifolds of this type.  相似文献

We consider the Ricci flow equation for invariant metrics on compact and connected homogeneous spaces whose isotropy representation decomposes into two irreducible inequivalent summands. By studying the corresponding dynamical system, we completely describe the behaviour of the homogeneous Ricci flow on this kind of spaces. Moreover, we investigate the existence of ancient solutions and relate this to the existence and non-existence of invariant Einstein metrics.  相似文献
