There is investigated the stability of inhomogeneously ageing reinforced viscoelastic bars. It is assumed that the strains and stresses in the reinforcement are related by Hooke's law. The properties of the matrix material are described by equations of the theory of viscoelasticity of inhomogeneously ageing solids /1,2/. Under different boundary conditions for the ends of the bar and loading methods an expression is set up for the critical force in stability problems in an infinite time interval. The stability definition taken corresponds to the Liapunov stability definition for the motion of dynamical systems. Estimates of the critical time when the magnitude of the deflection of a viscoelastic bar reaches a given value are obtained for stability problems in a finite time interval. The formulation for the stability problem in a finite time interval starts from the definition of stability of motion of dynamical systems by taking its beginning from the Chetaev work. The dependence of the critical time on the inhomogeneity and the reinforcing parameter is investigated numerically. The stability of viscoelastic unreinforced bars was studied in /3,4/, A survey and bibliography of research associated with the stability problem for viscoelastic bars are available in /5–8/.  相似文献

Within the framework of the Cauchy problem, a class of models of a linearviscoelastic body subjected to the stability principle of the natural unstressed state state of viscoelastic bodies (Principle Y) is isolated in [1], The principle Y is formulated as follows. Let the boundary conditions be such that the appropriate elasticity theory problem has a zero solution. If a viscoelastic body is free of external loads at each instant t > 0, then for every initial state, strain of the body vanishes as t → ∞. The principle Y is called partial if it is satisfied only for some particular class of viscoelasticity problems. Sufficient conditions for compliance with the partial Y principle are obtained in this paper for models of viscoelastic bodies within the framework of the fundamental initial-boundary value problems for finite bodies.  相似文献

A nonclassical nonlinear continuum model of electrically actuated viscoelastic microbeams is presented based on the modified couple stress theory to consider the microstructure effect in the framework of viscoelasticity. The nonlinear integral-differential governing equation and related boundary conditions of are derived based on the extended Hamilton's principle and Euler–Bernoulli hypothesis for viscoelastic microbeams with clamped-free, clamped-clamped, simply-supported boundary conditions. The proposed model accounts for system nonlinearities including the axial residual stress, geometric nonlinearity due to midplane stretching, electrical forcing with fringing effect. The behavior of the microbeam is simulated using generalized Maxwell viscoelastic model. A new generalized differential/integral quadrature method is developed to solve the resulting governing equation. The developed model is verified against elastic behavior and a favorable agreement is obtained. Efficiency of the developed model is demonstrated by analyzing the quasistatic pull-in phenomena of electrically actuated viscoelastic microbeams with different boundaries at various material length scale parameters and axial residual stresses in the framework of linear viscoelasticity.  相似文献

We study the spectral properties of a boundary value problem for an integro-differential equation arising in viscoelasticity theory. In the present paper the linear quasi static theory of viscoelasticity for Kelvin-Voigt materials with double porosity is considered. The basic external boundary value problems (BVPs) of steady vibrations in this theory are formulated. In this paper the linear theory of viscoelasticity for Kelvin-Voigt materials with voids is considered. The uniqueness and existence theorems for internal boundary value problem (BVP) of steady vibrations are proved by means of the potential method (boundary integral method) and the theory of singular integral equations. We will solve the following boundary value problem in linear viscoelasticity: given the value of the stress on (a part of) the boundary of the domain find the stress in the whole body at all positive times. Using a state space setting we show that the stress field inside the body can be obtained from the boundary stress by a variation-of-parameters formula involving an analytic semigroup. The relation between the regularities of the boundary stress and the stress inside the body is therefore characterized by the well-known and rich regularity theory for analytic semigroups.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the exact controllability and boundary stabilization of the torsional vibrations of a flexible space structure (such as a solar cell array) modeled by a rectangular panel, incorporating the material damping of the structure. The panel is hoisted at one end by a rigid hub and the other end is totally free. For the attachment of this hub on one side of the panel, the hub dynamics leads to a nonstandard boundary condition. To incorporate internal damping of the material, we assume Voigt-type viscoelasticity of the structure. Exact controllability theory is established using the Hilbert uniqueness method by means of a control torque applied only on the rigid hub of the panel. At the same time, uniform exponential energy decay rate is obtained directly for the solution of this problem.  相似文献

In this study Kelvin and Boltzmann viscoelastic models are implemented in a two-dimensional boundary element atmosphere. This general methodology is based on differential constitutive relations for viscoelasticity, avoiding the use of relaxation functions. In this part of the study, important algebraic operations are introduced into the formulation allowing analysing viscoelastic problems without using internal cells. This improvement is very important to model infinite and semi-infinite regions. The formulation is verified comparing the numerical results with analytical solutions. An extension of the formulation to consider soil–structure interaction is presented in order to demonstrate the vast applicability of the technique.  相似文献

Shear and temperature induced dynamics of a viscoelastic liquid is investigated with direct numerical simulations. A numerical algorithm based on the finite difference method is implemented in time and space with the Oldroyd-B constitutive model for the viscoelastic liquids. The temperature effects are modeled by a combination of Arrhenius kinetics and thermal convection. The standard approach which applies periodic boundary conditions is replaced by one in which the unprescribed boundary values are regenerated from the main flow. The algorithm is validated against well-known Newtonian natural convection flow results. The results show that progressive viscoelasticity leads to lower temperature increases within the fluid system, and that the highest temperature increases are recorded for corresponding Newtonian fluids.  相似文献
