Density functional theory (DFT) and ab initio methods were used to study gas‐phase pyrolytic reaction mechanisms of iV‐ethyl, N‐isopropyl and N‐t‐butyl substituted 2‐aminopyrazine at B3LYP/6–31G* and MP2/6–31G*, respectively. Single‐point energies of all optimized molecular geometries were calculated at B3LYP/6–311 + G(2d,p) level. Results show that the pyrolytic reactions were carried out through a unimolecular first‐order mechanism which were caused by the migration of atom H(17) via a six‐member ring transition state. The activation energies which were verified by vibrational analysis and correlated with zero‐point energies along the reaction channel at B3LYP/6–311 + G(2d,p) level were 252.02 kJ. mo?1 (N‐ethyl substituted), 235.92 kJ‐mol?1 (N‐t‐isopropyl substituted) and 234.27 kJ‐mol?1 (N‐t‐butyl substituted), respectively. The results were in good agreement with available experimental data.  相似文献

Geometry, thermodynamic, and electric properties of the π‐EDA complex between hexamethylbenzene (HMB) and tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) are investigated at the MP2/6‐31G* and, partly, DFT‐D/6‐31G* levels. Solvent effects on the properties are evaluated using the PCM model. Fully optimized HMB–TCNE geometry in gas phase is a stacking complex with an interplanar distance 2.87 × 10?10 m and the corresponding BSSE corrected interaction energy is ?51.3 kJ mol?1. As expected, the interplanar distance is much shorter in comparison with HF and DFT results. However the crystal structures of both (HMB)2–TCNE and HMB–TCNE complexes have interplanar distances somewhat larger (3.18 and 3.28 × 10?10 m, respectively) than our MP2 gas phase value. Our estimate of the distance in CCl4 on the basis of PCM solvent effect study is also larger (3.06–3.16 × 10?10 m). The calculated enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs energy, and equilibrium constant of HMB–TCNE complex formation in gas phase are: ΔH0 = ?61.59 kJ mol?1, ΔS = ?143 J mol?1 K?1, ΔG0 = ?18.97 kJ mol?1, and K = 2,100 dm3 mol?1. Experimental data, however, measured in CCl4 are significantly lower: ΔH0 = ?34 kJ mol?1, ΔS = ?70.4 J mol?1 K?1, ΔG0 = ?13.01 kJ mol?1, and K = 190 dm3 mol?1. The differences are caused by solvation effects which stabilize more the isolated components than the complex. The total solvent destabilization of Gibbs energy of the complex relatively to that of components is equal to 5.9 kJ mol?1 which is very close to our PCM value 6.5 kJ mol?1. MP2/6‐31G* dipole moment and polarizabilities are in reasonable agreement with experiment (3.56 D versus 2.8 D for dipole moment). The difference here is due to solvent effect which enlarges interplanar distance and thus decreases dipole moment value. The MP2/6‐31G* study supplemented by DFT‐D parameterization for enthalpy calculation, and by the PCM approach to include solvent effect seems to be proper tools to elucidate the properties of π‐EDA complexes. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Density functional theory (DFT) based calculations are performed on a series of alkyl nitrites and nitroalkanes representing large‐scale primary, secondary, and tertiary nitro compounds and their radicals resulting from the loss of their skeletal hydrogen atoms. Geometries, vibration frequencies, and thermochemical properties [S°(T) and C°p(T) (10 K ? T ? 5000 K)] are calculated at the B3LYP/6‐31G(d,p) DFT level. Δf298 values are from B3LYP/6‐31G(d,p), B3LYP/6‐31+G(2d,2p), and the composite CBS‐QB3 levels. Potential energy barriers for the internal rotations have been computed at the B3LYP/6‐31G(d,p) level of theory, and the lower barrier contributions are incorporated into entropy and heat capacity data. The standard enthalpies of formation at 298 K are evaluated using isodesmic reaction schemes with several work reactions for each species. Recommended values derived from the most stable conformers of respective nitro‐ and nitrite isomers include ?30.57 and ?28.44 kcal mol?1 for n‐propane‐, ?33.89 and ?32.32 kcal mol?1 for iso‐propane‐, ?42.78 and ?41.36 kcal mol?1 for tert‐butane‐nitro compounds and nitrites, respectively. Entropy and heat capacity values are also reported for the lower homologues: nitromethane, nitroethane, and corresponding nitrites. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 2‐Furaldehyde (2‐FA), also known as furfural or 2‐furancarboxaldehyde, is an heterocyclic aldehyde that can be obtained from the thermal dehydration of pentose monosaccharides. This molecule can be considered as an important sustainable intermediate for the preparation of a great variety of chemicals, pharmaceuticals and furan‐based polymers. Despite the great importance of this molecule, its gas‐phase basicity (GB) has never been measured. In this work, the GB of 2‐FA was determined by the extended Cooks's kinetic method from electrospray ionization triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometric experiments along with theoretical calculations. As expected, computational results identify the aldehydic oxygen atom of 2‐FA as the preferred protonation site. The geometries of O‐O‐cis and O‐O‐trans 2‐FA and of their six different protomers were calculated at the B3LYP/aug‐TZV(d,p) level of theory; proton affinity (PA) values were also calculated at the G3(MP2, CCSD(T)) level of theory. The experimental PA was estimated to be 847.9 ± 3.8 kJ mol?1, the protonation entropy 115.1 ± 5.03 J mol?1 K?1 and the GB 813.6 ± 4.08 kJ mol?1 at 298 K. From the PA value, a ΔH°f of 533.0 ± 12.4 kJ mol?1 for protonated 2‐FA was derived. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The effect of ring fluorination on the structural and dynamical properties of the flexible model molecule 2‐fluorobenzylamine has been studied by rotational spectroscopy in free‐jet expansion and quantum chemical methods. The complete potential energy surface originating from the flexibility of the aminic side chain has been calculated at the B3LYP/6‐311++G** level of theory and the stable geometries were also characterized with MP2/6‐311++G**. The rotational spectra show the presence of two of the predicted four stable conformers: the global minimum (I), in which the side chain’s dihedral angle with the phenyl plane is almost perpendicular, is stabilized by an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the fluorine atom and one hydrogen of the aminic group; and a second conformer II (EII?EI≈5 kJ mol?1) in which the dihedral angle is smaller and the amino group points towards the aromatic ortho hydrogen atom. This conformation is characterized by a tunneling motion between two equivalent positions of the amino group with respect to the phenyl plane, which splits the rotational transition. The ortho fluorination increases, with respect to benzylamine, the tunneling splitting of this motion by four orders of magnitude. The motion is analyzed with a one‐dimensional flexible model, which allows estimation of the energy barrier for the transition state as approximately 8.0 kJ mol?1.  相似文献

The biomimic reactions of N‐phosphoryl amino acids, which involved intramolecular penta‐coordinate phosphoric‐carboxylic mixed anhydrides, are very important in the study of many biochemical processes. The reactivity difference between the α‐COOH group and β‐COOH in phosphoryl amino acids was studied by experiments and theoretical calculations. It was found that the α‐COOH group, and not β‐COOH, was involved in the ester exchange on phosphorus in experiment. From MNDO calculations, the energy of the penta‐coordinate phosphoric intermediate containing five‐member ring from α‐COOH was 35 kJ/mol lower than that of the six‐member one from β‐COOH. This result was in agreement with that predicted by HF/6‐31G** and B3LYP/6‐31G** calculations. Theoretical three‐dimensional potential energy surface for the intermediates predicted that the transition states 4 and 5 involving α‐COOH or β‐COOH group had energy barriers of ΔE=175.8 kJ?mol?1 and 210.4 kJ?mol?1, respectively. So the α‐COOH could be differentiated from β‐COOH intramolecularly in aspartic acids by N‐phosphorylation. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Quant Chem 83: 41–51, 2001  相似文献

The complex potential energy surface (PES) for the isomerization of C5H5NO species, including 18 isomers and 23 interconversion transition states, is probed theoretically at the B3LYP/6‐311++G(d,p) and MP2//B3LYP/6‐311++G(d,p) levels of theory. The geometries and relative energies for various stationary points were determined. The zero‐point vibrational energy (ZPVE) corrections have been made to calculate the reliable energy. We predicted a six‐membered ring structure as a global minima isomer I, which is 118.49 and 131.48 kcal · mol?1 more stable than the least stable, four‐ and three‐membered ring isomer VIII at B3LYP and MP2//B3LYP levels of theory, respectively. The isomers and interconversion transition states have verified by frequency calculation. The intrinsic reaction coordinates (IRC) calculations have been performed to confirm that each transition state is linked by the desired reactants and products. The isomer stability has been studied using relative energies, chemical hardness, and chemical potential. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2007  相似文献

The reaction mechanism of F2+Cl2→2ClF has been investigated with the density functional theory at the B3LYP/6‐311G* level. Six transition states have been found for the three possible reaction paths and verified by the normal mode vibrational and IRC analyses. Ab initio MP2/6‐311G* geometry optimizations and CCSD(T)/6‐311G(2df)//MP2/6‐311G* single‐point energy calculations have been performed for comparison. It is found that when the F2 (or Cl2) molecule decomposes into atoms first and then the F (or Cl) atom reacts with the molecule Cl2 (or F2) nearly along the molecular axis, the energy barrier is very low. The calculated energy barrier of F attacking Cl2 is zero and that of Cl attacking F2 is only 15.57 kJ?mol?1 at the B3LYP level. However, the calculated dissociation energies of F2 and Cl2 are as high as 145.40 and 192.48 kJ?mol?1, respectively. When the reaction proceeds through a bimolecular reaction mechanism, two four‐center transition states are obtained and the lower energy barrier is 218.69 kJ?mol?1. Therefore, the title reaction F2+Cl2→2ClF is most probably initiated from the atomization of the F2 molecule and terminated by the reaction of F attacking Cl2 nearly along the Cl? Cl bond. MP2 calculations lead to the same conclusion, but the geometry of TS and the energy barrier are somewhat different. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2002  相似文献

Intramolecular H‐atom transfer in model peptide‐type radicals was investigated with high‐level quantum‐chemistry calculations. Examination of 1,2‐, 1,3‐, 1,5‐, and 1,6[C ? N]‐H shifts, 1,4‐ and 1,7[C ? C]‐H shifts, and 1,4[N ? N]‐H shifts (Scheme 1), was carried out with a number of theoretical methods. In the first place, the performance of UB3‐LYP (with the 6‐31G(d), 6‐31G(2df,p), and 6‐311+G(d,p) basis sets) and UMP2 (with the 6‐31G(d) basis set) was assessed for the determination of radical geometries. We found that there is only a small basis‐set dependence for the UB3‐LYP structures, and geometries optimized with UB3‐LYP/6‐31G(d) are generally sufficient for use in conjunction with high‐level composite methods in the determination of improved H‐transfer thermochemistry. Methods assessed in this regard include the high‐level composite methods, G3(MP2)‐RAD, CBS‐QB3, and G3//B3‐LYP, as well as the density‐functional methods B3‐LYP, MPWB1K, and BMK in association with the 6‐31+G(d,p) and 6‐311++G(3df,3pd) basis sets. The high‐level methods give results that are close to one another, while the recently developed functionals MPWB1K and BMK provide cost‐effective alternatives. For the systems considered, the transformation of an N‐centered radical to a C‐centered radical is always exothermic (by 25 kJ ? mol?1 or more), and this can lead to quite modest barrier heights of less than 60 kJ ? mol?1 (specifically for 1,5[C ? N]‐H and 1,6[C ? N]‐H shifts). H‐Migration barriers appear to decrease as the ring size in the transition structure (TS) increases, with a lowering of the barrier being found, for example when moving from a rearrangement proceeding via a four‐membered‐ring TS (e.g., the 1,3[C ? N]‐H shift, CH3? C(O)? NH..CH2? C(O)? NH2) to a rearrangement proceeding via a six‐membered‐ring TS (e.g., the 1,5[C ? N]‐H shift, .NH? CH2? C(O)? NH? CH3 → NH2? CH2? C(O)? NH? CH2.).  相似文献

The adsorption and the mechanism of the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane over VO2‐exchanged MCM‐22 are investigated by DFT calculations using the M06‐L functional, which takes into account dispersion contributions to the energy. The adsorption energies of propane are in good agreement with those from computationally much more demanding MP2 calculations and with experimental results. In contrast, B3LYP binding energies are too small. The reaction begins with the movement of a methylene hydrogen atom to the oxygen atom of the VO2 group, which leads to an isopropyl radical bound to a HO? V? O intermediate. This step is rate determining with the apparent activation energy of 30.9 kcal mol?1, a value within the range of experimental results for ODH over other silica supports. In the propene formation step, the hydroxyl group is the more reactive group requiring an apparent activation energy of 27.7 kcal mol?1 compared to that of the oxy group of 40.8 kcal mol?1. To take the effect of the extended framework into account, single‐point calculations on 120T structures at the same level of theory are performed. The apparent activation energy is reduced to 28.5 kcal mol?1 by a stabilizing effect caused by the framework. Reoxidation of the catalyst is found to be important for the product release at the end of the reaction.  相似文献

The conformers of the monohalocyclohexasilanes, Si6H11X (X=F, Cl, Br or I) and the haloundecamethylcyclohexasilanes, Si6Me11X (X=F, Cl, Br or I) are investigated by DFT calculations employing the B3LYP density functional and 6‐31+G* basis sets for elements up to the third row, and SDD basis sets for heavier elements. Five minima are found for Si6H11X—the axial and equatorial chair conformers, with the substituent X either in an axial or equatorial position—and another three twisted structures. The equatorial chair conformer is the global minimum for the X=Cl, Br and I, the axial chair for X=F. The barrier for the ring inversion is ~13 kJ mol?1 for all four compounds. Five minima closely related to those of Si6H11X are found for Si6Me11X. Again, the equatorial chair is the global minimum for X=Cl, Br and I, and the axial chair for X=F. Additionally, two symmetrical boat conformers are found as local minima on the potential energy surfaces for X=F, Cl and Br, but not for X=I. The barrier for the ring inversion is ~14–16 kJ mol?1 for all compounds. The conformational equilibria for Si6Me11X in toluene solution are investigated using temperature dependent Raman spectroscopy. The wavenumber range of the stretching vibrations of the heavy atoms X and Si from 270–370 cm?1 is analyzed. Using the van′t Hoff relationship, the enthalpy differences between axial and equatorial chair conformers (Hax?Heq.) are 1.1 kJ mol?1 for X=F, and 1.8 to 2.8 kJ mol?1 for X=Cl, Br and I. Due to rapid interconversion, only a single Raman band originating from the “averaged” twist and boat conformers could be observed. Generally, reasonable agreement between the calculated relative energies and the experimentally determined values is found.  相似文献

The individual hydrogen bonding energies in N-methylacetamide chains were evaluated at the MP2/6-31+G** level including BSSE correction and at the B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2pd) level including BSSE and van der Waals correction. The calculation results indicate that compared with MP2 results, B3LYP calculations without van der Waals correction underestimate the individual hydrogen bonding energies about 5.4 kJ mol?1 for both the terminal and central hydrogen bonds, whereas B3LYP calculations with van der Waals correction produce almost the same individual hydrogen bonding energies as MP2 does for those terminal hydrogen bonds, but still underestimate the individual hydrogen bonding energies about 2.5 kJ mol?1 for the hydrogen bonds near the center. Our calculation results show that the individual hydrogen bonding energy becomes more negative (more attractive) as the chain becomes longer and that the hydrogen bonds close to the interior of the chain are stronger than those near the ends. The weakest individual hydrogen bonding energy is about ?29.0 kJ mol?1 found in the dimer, whereas with the growth of the N-methylacetamide chain the individual hydrogen bonding energy was estimated to be as large as ?62.5 kJ mol?1 found in the N-methylacetamide decamer, showing that there is a significant hydrogen bond cooperative effect in N-methylacetamide chains. The natural bond orbital analysis indicates that a stronger hydrogen bond corresponds to a larger positive charge for the H atom and a larger negative charge for the O atom in the N-H?O=C bond, corresponds to a stronger second-order stabilization energy between the oxygen lone pair and the N-H antibonding orbital, and corresponds to more charge transfer between the hydrogen bonded donor and acceptor molecules.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of the N,N,N′,N′‐tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda) ligand has been studied in solid lithium‐fluorenide(tmeda) ( 3 ) and lithium‐benzo[b]fluorenide(tmeda) ( 4 ) using CP/MAS solid‐state 13C‐ and 15N‐NMR spectroscopy. It is shown that, in the ground state, the tmeda ligand is oriented parallel to the long molecular axis of the fluorenide and benzo[b]fluorenide systems. At low temperature (<250 K), the 13C‐NMR spectrum exhibits two MeN signals. A dynamic process, assigned to a 180° rotation of the five‐membered metallacycle (π‐flip), leads at elevated temperatures to coalescence of these signals. Line‐shape calculations yield ΔH?=42.7 kJ mol?1, ΔS?=?5.3 J mol?1 K?1, and =44.3 kJ mol?1 for 3 , and ΔH?=36.8 kJ mol?1, ΔS?=?17.7 J mol?1 K?1, and =42.1 kJ mol?1 for 4 , respectively. A second dynamic process, assigned to ring inversion of the tmeda ligand, was detected from the temperature dependence of T1ρ, the 13C spin‐lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame, and led to ΔH?=24.8 kJ mol?1, ΔS?=?49.2 J mol?1 K?1, and =39.5 kJ mol?1 for 3 , and ΔH?=18.2 kJ mol?1, ΔS?=?65.3 J mol?1 K?1, and =37.7 kJ mol?1 for 4 , respectively. For (D12)‐ 3 , the rotation of the CD3 groups has also been studied, and a barrier Ea of 14.1 kJ mol?1 was found.  相似文献

Uranium(IV)–carbene–imido complexes [U(BIPMTMS)(NCPh3)(κ2N,N′‐BIPY)] ( 2 ; BIPMTMS=C(PPh2NSiMe3)2; BIPY=2,2‐bipyridine) and [U(BIPMTMS)(NCPh3)(DMAP)2] ( 3 ; DMAP=4‐dimethylamino‐pyridine) that contain unprecedented, discrete R2C=U=NR′ units are reported. These complexes complete the family of E=U=E (E=CR2, NR, O) metalla‐allenes with feasible first‐row hetero‐element combinations. Intriguingly, 2 and 3 contain cis‐ and trans‐C=U=N units, respectively, representing rare examples of controllable cis/trans isomerisation in f‐block chemistry. This work reveals a clear‐cut example of the trans influence in a mid‐valent uranium system, and thus a strong preference for the cis isomer, which is computed in a co‐ligand‐free truncated model—to isolate the electronic trans influence from steric contributions—to be more stable than the trans isomer by approximately 12 kJ mol?1 with an isomerisation barrier of approximately 14 kJ mol?1.  相似文献

The current work is a study of the conformational space of the non-ionic N-formylmethionine molecule around its seven structurally significant internal backbone torsional angles at B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p) levels of theory in the gaseous phase. The potential energy surface exploration reveals that a total of 432 different conformers would result if all the possible combinations of the internal rotations were to be considered. A set of twelve conformers of the N-formylmethionine molecule are then further analysed in terms of their relative stabilities, theoretically predicted harmonic vibrational frequencies, HOMO-LUMO energy gaps, ESP charges, rotational constants and dipole moments calculated using MP2/6-31++G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) levels. The calculated relative energy-range of the conformers at the MP2 level is 11.08 kcal mol?1 (1 kcal = 4.1868 kJ), whereas the same obtained at the B3LYP level is 10.02 kcal mol?1. The results of this study provide a good account of the role of four types of intramolecular H-bonds, namely O…H—O, O…H—N, O…H—C and N…H—C, in influencing the energies of the conformers as well as their conformational and vibrational spectroscopic aspects. The relative stability order of the conformers appears to depend on the level of theory used while the vibrational frequencies calculated at the B3LYP level are in better agreement with the experimental values.  相似文献

The gas‐phase elimination kinetics of the above‐mentioned compounds were determined in a static reaction system over the temperature range of 369–450.3°C and pressure range of 29–103.5 Torr. The reactions are homogeneous, unimolecular, and obey a first‐order rate law. The rate coefficients are given by the following Arrhenius expressions: ethyl 3‐(piperidin‐1‐yl) propionate, log k1(s?1) = (12.79 ± 0.16) ? (199.7 ± 2.0) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1; ethyl 1‐methylpiperidine‐3‐carboxylate, log k1(s?1) = (13.07 ± 0.12)–(212.8 ± 1.6) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1; ethyl piperidine‐3‐carboxylate, log k1(s?1) = (13.12 ± 0.13) ? (210.4 ± 1.7) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1; and 3‐piperidine carboxylic acid, log k1(s?1) = (14.24 ± 0.17) ? (234.4 ± 2.2) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1. The first step of decomposition of these esters is the formation of the corresponding carboxylic acids and ethylene through a concerted six‐membered cyclic transition state type of mechanism. The intermediate β‐amino acids decarboxylate as the α‐amino acids but in terms of a semipolar six‐membered cyclic transition state mechanism. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Herein, we present the comparison of a large set of experimentally measured proton affinity (PA) values for 65 aromatic carboxylate anions with the values calculated by using selected popular DFT (B3LYP, PBE0, and M05‐2X) and composite [G3(MP2), G4(MP2)] quantum chemistry methods. The root‐mean‐square error (RMSE) values for the chosen methods are RMSEPBE0=1.7, RMSEB3LYP=4.6, RMSEM05‐2X=6.6, RMSEG3MP2=6.3, RMSEG4MP2=4.5 kJ mol?1. In the second part of the study, 82 PA values for substituted phenide ions and a few heteroaromatic anions were calculated. Again, very good agreement between the calculated and experimental values has been observed: RMSEPBE0=1.9, RMSEB3LYP=4.5, RMSEM05‐2X=6.3, RMSEG3MP2=4.9, RMSEG4MP2=5.5 kJ mol?1. Our results show that, for medium‐sized carboxylate anions, all tested methods give reliable results and, surprisingly, much more computationally demanding composite methods do not perform significantly better than the time‐efficient DFT methods.  相似文献

A theoretical study of the conformational profile of two diphosphines, PH2?PH2 and PH2?PHF, is carried using second‐order Møller–Plesset perturbation theory (MP2) computational methods. The chiral minima found are used to build homo‐ and heterochiral dimers. Six minima are found for the (PH2?PH2)2 dimers and 27 for the (PH2?PHF)2 dimers. Pnicogen and hydrogen bonds, the non‐covalent forces that stabilize the complexes, are characterized by Atoms in Molecules (AIM) and Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) methodologies. Those with several pnicogen bonds are more stable than those with hydrogen bonds. The chirodiastaltic energies amount to a total of 1.77 kJ mol?1 for the Ra:Ra versus Ra:Sa (PH2?PH2)2 dimers, 0.81 kJ mol?1 for the RSa:RSa versus RSa:SRa (PH2?PHF)2 dimers, and 2.93 kJ mol?1 for the RRa:RRa versus RRa:SSa (PH2?PHF)2 dimers. In the first and second cases, the heterochiral complex is favored whereas in the third case, the homochiral complex is favored.  相似文献

Although the two polymorphic modifications, (I) and (II), of the title compound, C13H10N2O, crystallize in the same space group (P21/c), their asymmetric units have Z′ values of 1 and 2, respectively. These are conformational polymorphs, since the molecules in phases (I) and (II) adopt different rotations of the phenyl ring with respect the central 2‐cyanocarboxyaminoprop‐2‐enyl fragment. Calculations of crystal packing using Cerius2 [Molecular Simulations (1999). 9685 Scranton Road, San Diego, CA 92121, USA] have shown that (I) is more stable than (II), by 1.3 kcal mol?1 for the crystallographically determined structures and by 1.56 kcal mol?1 for the optimized structures (1 kcal mol?1 = 4.184 kJ mol?1). This difference is mainly attributed to the different strengths of the hydrogen bonding in the two forms.  相似文献
