Intense picosecond light pulses of a mode-locked Nd: glass laser at L =1054 nm (fundamental wavelength) and SH =527 nm (second harmonic wavelength) are passed through a sample of D2O under self-focusing conditions. Spectrally structured superbroadened, spatially bell-shaped emission in the forward direction is obtained. Primary generation processes are pump-pulse-degenerate stimulated parametric four-photon interaction (1 + 1 3 + 4) and stimulated Raman scattering (1 R + ), which occur concurrently (1= L or SH angular pump frequency, #x03C9; R first Stokes frequency, #x03C9; signal frequency, #x03C9;3 signal frequency, #x03C9;4 idler frequency). The parametric four-photon interaction occurs under collinear non-phase-matched conditions and under longitudinally phase-matched, transversally non-phase-matched (erenkov-like) conditions. Subsequent interaction processes are pump-pulse-nondegenerate four-photon interaction of the type 1 + R 3 + 4, coherent antiStokes Raman scattering (CARS, 1 + 14 3), inverse Raman scattering ( A + 1 + ), and cascading light up-conversion of the type 1 + (i) R (i+1).  相似文献

Every normal, faithful, self-adjoint functional on a von Neumann algebraA canonically determines a one-parameter-weakly continuous *-automorphism group (the analog of the modular group) and a canonical 2 grading onA, commuting with . We show that the functional satisfies the weak super-KMS property with respect to and Furthermore, we prove that and are the unique pair of a-weakly continuous one-parameter *-automorphism group and a grading of the algebra, commuting with each other, with respect to which is weakly super-KMS. The above results thus provide a complete extension of the theory of Tomita and Takesaki to the nonpositive case.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grant DMS-8922002.  相似文献

Removing a black hole conic singularity by means of Kruskal representation is equivalent to imposing extensibility on the Kasner–Fronsdal local isometric embedding of the corresponding black hole geometry. Allowing for globally non-trivial embeddings, living in Kaluza–Klein-like M 5 × S 1 (rather than in standard Minkowski M 6 ) and parametrized by some wave number k, extensibility can be achieved for apparently forbidden frequencies in the range 1 (k) 2 (k). As k 0, 1, 2 (0) H (e.g., H = 1/4M in the Schwarzschild case) such that the Hawking–Gibbons limit is fully recovered. The various Kruskal sheets are then viewed as slices of the Kaluza–Klein background. Euclidean k discreteness, dictated by imaginary time periodicity, is correlated with flux quantization of the underlying embedding gauge field.  相似文献

Excited-State Absorption (ESA), Two-Photon Absorption (TPA) and the third-order polarizability (;,, – ) have been investigated for a model dichloride derivative of a symmetrically substituted benzylidene analine (SBAC), using a multielectron configuration-interaction procedure. The calculations indicate that SBAC exhibits ESA across the visible region of the spectrum, but that it is not as extensive as for molecules such as the phthalocyanines. The magnitude of the third-order polarizability is dominated by resonance enhancement from a very strongA g B u one-photon absorption. The calculated off-resonance value for (;,, – ) suggests that SBAC is a potential candidate for ultrafast switching applications.  相似文献

We investigate the spectrum of Schrödinger operatorsH of the type:H =–+q i ()f(xx i + i ())(q i () and i () independent identically distributed random variables,i d ). We establish a strong connection between the spectrum ofH and the spectra of deterministic periodic Schrödinger operators. From this we derive a condition for the existence of forbidden zones in the spectrum ofH . For random one- and three-dimensional Kronig-Penney potentials the spectrum is given explicitly.  相似文献

We employ QCD sum rules to calculate the coupling constant g by studying the three point -correlation function. Our result complements the analysis of this coupling constant utilizing the experimental value of the 00 decay rate studied within the framework of chiral perturbation theory including vector meson and meson intermediate states.  相似文献

Third order harmonic mixing voltageE 0 in case of frequency matching, =21=0, and third order pseudo harmonic mixing currentj() in the detuned case, 0, are evaluated for the one-dimensional Fukuyama-Lee-Rice model for weakly pinned charge density waves in the region of sub-threshold bias electric fields. After a perturbation expansion of the phase response to the ac driving fields the impurity averaging is performed diagrammatically. Specific statistical properties of the charge density wave phase in the weak pinning limit and a non-trivial result for the pinning of the static phase are utilized to expressE 0 andj() in terms of the dielectric function (). A recent evaluation of () within the self-consistent Born approximation is used to present the results explicitly in a number of diagrams. In comparison to the overdamped anharmonic oscillator the following differences are found: Randomness leads to interference contributions which increase the amplitudes and decrease the phase shifts. The more realistic form for () at lower frequencies lead to a downward shift in the maximum ofj() when 1 is decreased below the cross-over frequency c . The present theory retains inertia in the dynamical equations and remains valid for frequencies near and above the pinning frequency. It fails, however, for small frequencies 1 c due to the neglect of metastable states and screening.  相似文献

We investigate stochastic gravity as a potentially fruitful avenue for studying quantum effects in gravity. Following the approach of stochastic electrodynamics (sed), as a representation of the quantum gravity vacuum we construct a classical state of isotropic random gravitational radiation, expressed as a spin-2 field,h µ (x), composed of plane waves of random phase on a flat spacetime manifold. Requiring Lorentz invariance leads to the result that the spectral composition function of the gravitational radiation,h(), must be proportional to 1/ 2. The proportionality constant is determined by the Planck condition that the energy density consist of/2 per normal mode, and this condition sets the amplitude scale of the random gravitational radiation at the order of the Planck length, giving a spectral composition functionh() =16c 2Lp/2. As an application of stochastic gravity, we investigate the Davies-Unruh effect. We calculate the two-point correlation function (R iojo(O/2)R kolo(O,+/2)) of the measureable geodesic deviation tensor field,R iojo, for two situations: (i) at a point detector uniformly accelerating through the random gravitational radiation, and (ii) at an inertial detector in a heat bath of the random radiation at a finite temperature. We find that the two correlation functions agree to first order ina/c provided that the temperature and acceleration satisfy the relationkT=a/2c.  相似文献

We study time dependence of various measures of entanglement (covariance entanglement coefficient, purity entanglement coefficient, normalized distance coefficient, entropy coefficients) between resonantly coupled modes of the electromagnetic field in ideal cavities with oscillating boundaries. Two types of cavities are considered — a three-dimensional cavity possessing eigenfrequencies 3 = 31, whose wall oscillates at the frequency w = 21, and a one-dimensional (Fabry–Perot) cavity with an equidistant spectrum n = n1 where the distance between perfect mirrors oscillates at the frequencies 1 and 21. The behavior of entanglement measures in these cases turns out to be completely different, although all three coefficients demonstrate qualitatively similar time dependences in each case (except some specific situations where the covariance entanglement coefficient based on traces of covariance submatrices seems to be essentially more sensitive to entanglement than other measures, which are based on determinants of covariance submatrices). Different initial states of the field, namely, vacuum, squeezed vacuum, thermal, Fock, and even/odd coherent states, are considered.  相似文献

The change of the sound velocity v(,T) and the damping of sound waves (,T) in spin glasses are calculated in the frame-work of an Ising model with a random distribution of exchange interactions. The calculation is based on linearized equations of motion for the spins and on an improved mean field approximation which includes the Onsager reaction field. Near to the freezing temperatureT f and at high temperatures v(,T) and (,T) turn out to be approximately proportional to the real and the imaginary parts of the dynamical susceptibility. For the special case of infinite range interactions atT=T f one has v(, Tf) ( )1/2 and (, Tf) (/)1/2 where is the relaxation time of independent spins. However, already slightly aboveT f the frequency dependence of both quantities becomes rather small for RKKY spin glasses. At high temperatures both, v(,T) and (,T) vary asT –1.SFB 125 Aachen-Jülich-Köln  相似文献

The nonlinear optical coefficientd ij(kl) (2, 0,, ) for electric field-induced optical second harmonic generation in semiconductors is calculated by means of a perturbation treatment. The result is given directly as a Brillouin zone integral over a resonant energy denominator. A simplified energy band structure model is used to carry out the Brillouin zone integral. The analytic closed-form expression ford ij(kl) (2, 0,, ) thus obtained permits the calculation of the absolute value of its spectrum from available energy band parameters. The dispersion ofd 11(11) (2, 0,, ) of Ge is numerically calculated, second harmonic photon energies being close to theE 0 andE 1 gaps. The results show pronounced resonant behaviours.  相似文献

On the boundary vacuum — a dense magnetoactive plasma, an incident RHCP (right hand circularly polarized) wave is strongly reflected if 0 2 / 2 1 and ce/ > 1;, 0, ce are the ncident wave frequency, the plasma frequency and the electron cyclotron frequency, respectively. This reflection strongly lowers the efficiency of the plasma heating by microwaves. Our experimental study shows that a suitable matching system consisting of dielectric plates, placed in front of the plasma, can ensure practically complete transfer of the RHCP wave energy into a dense plasma. The experiment was carried out in the S band waveguide (=12·7 cm) with the power of the order of l kW.The authors wish to thank to the director of the Institute of Plasma Physics Dr. J.Váa for his interest in this work.  相似文献

LetT 0(, )+V be the Schrödinger operator corresponding to the classical HamiltonianH 0()+V, whereH 0() is thed-dimensional harmonic oscillator with non-resonant frequencies =(1, ... , d ) and the potentialV(q 1, ... ,q d) is an entire function of order (d+1)–1. We prove that the algorithm of classical, canonical perturbation theory can be applied to the Schrödinger equation in the Bargmann representation. As a consequence, each term of the Rayleigh-Schrödinger series near any eigenvalue ofT 0(, ) admits a convergent expansion in powers of of initial point the corresponding term of the classical Birkhoff expansion. Moreover ifV is an even polynomial, the above result and the KAM theorem show that all eigenvalues n (, ) ofT 0+V such thatn coincides with a KAM torus are given, up to order , by a quantization formula which reduces to the Bohr-Sommerfeld one up to first order terms in .  相似文献

The method of transition probabilities is used to calculate the line width of ferromagnetic resonance in a medium with an inhomogeneous saturation magnetization. It is shown that in addition to linear (with respect to the Fourier components of the function describing inhomogeneities) terms, the perturbation Hamiltonian must include also quadratic terms. The frequency dependence of the contribution of the porosity to H is fundamentally different from the frequency dependence of the magnetic anisotropy contribution. This anisotropy contribution Ha() decreases on increase in the frequency and has a maximum at = (2/3)M, whereas the porosity contribution Hp increases on increase in the frequency and vanishes at = (2/3)M.deceasedTranslated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 12, pp.48–52, December, 1980.  相似文献

Using wave functions determined from ground-state local-density calculations, we have calculated the wave-dispersed free response of the optical nonlinear polarizability (3)(–3;,,), for the C60 molecule and (3)(–3;,,) i.e. Third-Harmonic Generation (THG) for films using a sum-over-states approach. The influence of screening was determined by applying an external static electric field in separate selfconsistent calculations to evaluate induced dipole moments which was used to determine the static linear and nonlinear polarizabilities. The polarizabilities calculated in the static limit were used to determine an effective screening parameter which was, in turn, used together with an RPA approach to calculate screened wave-dispersed, third-order nonlinear optical properties such as (3)(–3;,,) and (3)(–3;,,). Comparing evaluated polarizabilities with experimental values we found that the non-resonant free polarizability compares well in absolute magnitude with experimental results. Inclusion of screening results in a polarizability about two orders of magnitude below the experimental values.Paper presented at the 129th WE-Heraeus-Seminar on Surface Studies by Nonlinear Laser Spectroscopies, Kassel, Germany, May 30 to June 1, 1994  相似文献

Resonant third-order sum-frequency mixing of continuous-wave visible and ultraviolet laser light is investigated in the metal vapors of Sr, Ca, Mg, and Zn. The laser radiation (with the frequencies 1, 2, and 3) is generated by single-mode dye- and argonion lasers. The third-order nonlinear susceptibility is enhanced by tuning the laser frequencies 21 or 1+2 to a two-photon resonance. The wavelength of the generated coherent VUV radiation (with the frequency VUV=31, VUV=21+2 or VUV=1+2+3) is tunable in spectral regions between 133 and 217 nm. For most conversion processes an additional enhancement of the nonlinearity is provided by an autoionizing level or by a highly excited state close to E=VUV. With laser powers of 0.2–3 W the power of the generated sum frequencies is in the range of 5×105–6×1010 photons s–1 (0.5 pW–60 nW).  相似文献

Since there are some important systems which have constraints not contained in their field algebras, we develop here in aC*-context the algebraic structures of these. The constraints are defined as a groupG acting as outer automorphisms on the field algebra , :G Aut , G Inn , and we find that the selection ofG-invariant states on is the same as the selection of states onM(G ) by (U g)=1gG, whereU g M (G )/ are the canonical elements implementing g . These states are taken as the physical states, and this specifies the resulting algebraic structure of the physics inM(G ), and in particular the maximal constraint free physical algebra . A nontriviality condition is given for to exist, and we extend the notion of a crossed product to deal with a situation whereG is not locally compact. This is necessary to deal with the field theoretical aspect of the constraints. Next theC*-algebra of the CCR is employed to define the abstract algebraic structure of Gupta-Bleuler electromagnetism in the present framework. The indefinite inner product representation structure is obtained, and this puts Gupta-Bleuler electromagnetism on a rigorous footing. Finally, as a bonus, we find that the algebraic structures just set up, provide a blueprint for constructive quadratic algebraic field theory.  相似文献

The gravitational nonradiative collapse of dust configurations in the presence of electromagnetic field is analyzed in terms of exact dynamical solutions for a wide range of spacetime symmetries: cylindrical, pseudoplanar, toroidal, and also spherical, planar, and pseudospherical [when the anisotropy factor of the (x 2,x 3) surfaces,(R, T), is replaced by a massless scalar field]. The condition that the collapse is nonradiative leaves three possibilities for the coordinate dependence of(R,T) (i)=(a),a (R, T) being the scale factor of the (x 2,x 3) surfaces, (ii)=(T), and (iii)=(R). Almost all (in the meaning indicated in the text) solutions for charged dust with=(a) and for dust in the external electromagnetic field with=(T) and=(R) have been obtained and discussed. A wideranging discussion concerning the topics of papers I–III is given. Special attention is paid to the question of horizon existence and formation and also the perspective of extension of the techniques developed onto the more realistic case of axial symmetry.  相似文献

We define a map on the space of quasifree states of the CCR or CAR of more than one harmonic oscillator which increases entropy except at fixed points ofx. The map is the composition of a doubly stochastic map T* and the quasifree reductionQ. Under mixing conditions onT, iterates of take any initial state to the Gibbs state, provided that the oscillator frequencies are mutually rational. We give an example of a system with three degrees of freedom with energies 1, 2, and 3 mutually irrational, but obeying a relation n11+n22=n33,n i . The iterated Boltzmann map converges from an initial statep to independent Gibbs states of the three oscillators at betas (inverse temperatures) 1,2, 3 obeying the equation n111+n222=n333. The equilibrium state can be rewritten as a grand canonical state. We show that for two, three, or four fermions we can get the usual rate equations as a special case.  相似文献

An intense and monochromatic laser beam consisting of more than 40 vibrational and rotational lines is generated by the stimulated Raman effect, when two-color laser beams separated by 590 cm–1 are tightly focused into pressurized hydrogen. This phenomenon is reasonably explained by four-wave mixing; one beam is used for two-step excitation (1+1) to an imaginary level and another beam (2) acts as a seed beam, generating a fourth beam (212). Through cascade processes, so many laser emissions appear with a frequency difference of (12) in entire ultraviolet and visible regions.  相似文献
