A large increase of atomic absorption via atomic coherence is observed in Cesium atoms in the condition of off resonance in degenerate two-level atomic systems. We show that when on resonance, the reduction of atomic absorption via EIT accured. But when we tune the coupling field on the off resonance, the enhancement of absorption via EIA is obtained for the probe field. The influences of the two-photon detuning and intensity of coupling field on the absorption are also studied experimentally.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the features of two-photon absorption in a five-level atomic system with interacting dark resonances. It is found that two-photon absorption can be completely suppressed at two different frequencies due to the application of two coherent coupling fields and the atomic system exhibits double electromagnetically induced transparency windows against two-photon absorption. The position and width of the double two-photon transparency windows can be controlled via properly adjusting the frequency detuning and the intensities of the two coupling fields. In addition, one enhanced narrow central line can be observed in the two-photon absorption spectra, which may find applications in high-precision spectroscopy. Form a physical point of view, we explicitly explain these results in terms of quantum interference induced by three different two-photon excitation channels in the dressed-state picture.  相似文献

Extremely large optical Kerr non-linearities (n2) and (n4) were measured in two closed degenerate two-level transitions in the caesium D2 line when a probe and a coupling laser simultaneously probed and coupled the hyperfine structure in an atomic beam. The magnitude of the measured non-linearities in both transitions were found to be a function of the coupling laser intensity and of the probe detuning from the two-photon resonance. In a figure of merit, the ratio between the non-unitarian part of the refractive index and the absorption coefficient measured in conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency showed a maximum value for a probe detuning of 160 kHz from the two-photon resonance and resulted in being 105 times larger than in the absence of the coupling laser field. 利用电磁感应透明(EIT)效应在87Rb热原子气室中进行了慢光和光存储的实验研究,在单光子红失谐650 MHz处测量了双光子失谐对光脉冲延迟和光存储的影响.结果表明:在双光子失谐0—0.5 MHz范围内存在显著的光脉冲延迟和光存储恢复信号,其慢光波形与理论计算结果基本相符;而恢复光脉冲信号随着双光子失谐的变化出现形变,这是由于多个EIT子系统之间的干涉引起的.这一研究结果为连续变量光场在热原子系综中的存储提供了实验参考.  相似文献

We have proposed a scheme for double-beam optical bistability in a tunnel-coupled asymmetric double quantum-well driven by two optical fields circulating inside two independently unidirectional ring cavities. In contrast to the single-cavity case where single-photon saturated absorption and self Kerr-nonlinearity are dominant, the two-photon absorption and cross phase modulation can be enhanced via tunneling induced interference and have an important influence to the formation of bistability. The bistable behavior can be controlled effectively via the system parameters such as the input and detuning of control field, the detuning of the probe field, Fano interference strength and cooperation parameter. Furthermore, the proposed scheme has the ability to manipulate the outputs of two optical cavities simultaneously. Due to the flexible design of semiconductor quantum well, our scheme is more practical than atomic system, therefore it can be utilized to achieve dual all-optical switching which has application in optical communication and computing.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate optical bistability (OB) and multistability (OM) behaviour of a closed-loop configuration atomic system driven by a degenerate coupling- field and a degenerate probe field inside a unidirectional ring cavity. It is found that the OB and OM behaviour can be controlled by adjusting- the intensity and the frequency detuning of the coupling- field, respectively. Interestingly, our numerical results show that it is easy to realize the transition from OB to OM or vice versa by adjusting- the intensity of the coupling- field under a appropriate frequency detuning. The effect of the atomic cooperation parameter on the OB behaviour is also discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the steady optical response of a coherently driven five-level M-type atomic system in three different situations.When all three coupling fields have the same zero detuning,we just find one deep transparency window accompanied by a steep normal dispersion in the probe absorption and dispersion spectra.When two coupling fields are detuned from the relevant transitions to the same extent,however,a second deep transparency window may be observed in the presence of a narrow absorption line of linewidth ~50 kHz.In this case,two single-photon far-detuned transitions can be replaced by a two-photon resonant transition,so the five-level M system in fact reduces into a four-level quasi-Λ system.Finally,we note that no deep transparency windows and no narrow absorption lines can be found when all three coupling fields have unequal detunings.  相似文献

在一个具有超精细结构的四能级原子系统中,为了压抑暂态过程和稳态过程两种情况下的弱探测光束的吸收,我们提出和分析了一种有效的拉曼散射计划。对于暂态过程,借助一个漂亮的Mathematic程序进行数值计算,我们发现在探测跃迁线中心探测吸收的幅度与一般的基于电磁感应透明的三能级原子系统相比要小。对于稳态情况,结果表明探测吸收在线中心能够被彻底地消除,正像通常的三能级电磁感应透明方案。特别地,我们的结果表明在拉曼共振的条件下探测吸收能够被彻底地消除,也就是说,对于稳态过程我们仅仅要求双光子失谐量在超精细二能级频率间隙内是零。与标准的三能级电磁感应透明方案相比,我们的四能级拉曼计划的优点之一是在拉曼共振条件下我们能观察到透明窗口,不需要严格地单光子和双光子失谐量为零。因此,原子超精细结构对于获取电磁感应透明不是一个障碍。  相似文献

We propose a continuously tunable method of sub-half-wavelength localization via the coherent control of the spontaneous emission of a four-level Y-type atomic system,which is coupled to three strong coupling fields including a standing-wave field together with a weak probe field.It is shown that the sub-half-wavelength atomic localization is realized for both resonance and off-resonance cases.Furthermore,by varying the probe detuning in succession,the positions of the two localization peaks are tuned continuously within a wide range of probe field frequencies,which provides convenience for the realization of sub-half-wavelength atomic localization experimentally.  相似文献

A theoretical study is made of the steady-state populations of a three-level atom in a ladder configuration, driven by a superposition of a monochromatic laser wave with a broad-band squeezed vacuum. The master equation for the system and the atomic Bloch equations are derived. The steady-state populations are calculated numerically and shown graphically as functions of two-photon detuning for various cases of the squeezed vacuum. It is shown that, the atomic populations depend strongly on the relative phase of the driving field and the squeezed vacuum. When the phase matching condition is fulfilled, there will be a strong two-photon resonant absorption from the squeezed vacuum, a characteristic different from absorption of photons from a classical field. We study electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) and transparency (EIT) in an optical-rf two-photon coupling configuration. It is shown that the interference effect due to interacting dark resonances results in an EIA for a resonant two-photon coupling and this EIA is observed to evolve into an EIT when there is a detuning in the two-photon coupling.  相似文献

The absorption of a resonant coupling laser driving a closed degenerate two-level system in an atomic cesium beam was investigated as a function of the detuning of a second laser probing the same transition. The measurements were performed for four different polarization combinations of the two laser beams. Except for the beams of counterrotating polarizations all coupling-laser absorption profiles showed "absorption within transparency," i.e., the absorption in the region around the two-photon resonance was smaller than the absorption corresponding to the one-photon transition induced by the coupling laser, and an extra absorption peak was observed on this curve at the two-photon resonance. With regard to the beams of counterrotating polarizations we observed a switch from absorption within transparency to "transparency within transparency" when the probe-laser power exceeded the constant coupling-laser power. In other words, the cesium ensemble became mostly transparent to the coupling-laser beam at the two-photon resonance.  相似文献

We numerically simulate three-photon absorption spectra in a three-coupled-quantum-well nanostructure interacting with a pump field,a coherent coupling field,and a probe field.We find that the three-photon absorption spectra can be dramatically influenced due to the intensities of the coupling field and pump field changing under the three-photon resonance condition.The effect of the frequency detuning of the pump field on the three-photon absorption spectra is also discussed.The study in our case is much more practical than the study in the case of its atomic counterpart in the sense of flexible design and the wide adjustable parameters.Thus it may open up some new possibilities for technological applications in optoelectronics and solid-state quantum information science.  相似文献

We have investigated the dispersive properties of excited-doublet four-level atoms interacting with a weak probe field and an intense coupling laser field. We have derived an analytical expression of the dispersion relation for a general excited-doublet four-level atomic system subject to a one-photon detuning. The numerical results demonstrate that for a typical rubidium D1 line configuration, due to the unequal dipole moments for the transitions of each ground state to double excited states, generally there exists no exact dark state in the system. Close to the two-photon resonance, the probe light can be absorbed or gained and propagate in the so-called superluminal form. This system may be used as an optical switch.  相似文献

对在掺杂稀土离子晶体中实现电磁感应光透明进行了实验研究。首先,以Er3+∶YAG晶体为样品,用旋转波近似下的密度矩阵方程理论计算了探测场的吸收特性随Er3+离子浓度的变化规律,结果表明:在探测场失谐Δp=0时,形成了一个对于探测光透明的窗口,从而在理论上论证了在掺杂稀土离子晶体中实现电磁感应光透明效应的可行性。设计了一个以Pr3+∶Y2SiO5晶体为样品的实验激发方案,吸收光谱显示,当温度为6 K时其在共振吸收峰处可形成一个完全透明的窗口,实现了在掺杂离子晶体中的电磁感应光透明。实验还分析了工作温度、耦合场失谐对探测光透过率的影响,结果显示:当样品温度上升到15 K时,透明窗口消失;耦合场的失谐量越大,透射率越小。  相似文献

We introduce a scheme for creating continuous variable entanglement between an atomic beam and an optical field, by using squeezed light to outcouple atoms from a Bose-Einstein condensate via a Raman transition. We model the full multimode dynamics of the atom laser beam and the squeezed optical field and show that, with appropriate two-photon detuning and two-photon Rabi frequency, the transmitted light is entangled in amplitude and phase with the outcoupled atom laser beam. The degree of entanglement is controllable via changes in the two-photon Rabi frequency of the outcoupling process.  相似文献

We study the enhanced Kerr-nonlinear coefficient in a three-level A-type atomic system for various coupling-beam powers. The Kerr-nonlinear coefficient behaves very differently in the strong and the weak coupling power regions and changes sign when the coupling or probe frequency detuning changes sign. Comparisons of Kerr-nonlinear coefficients as functions of probe frequency detuning, coupling power, and coupling frequency detuning are presented.  相似文献
