Since solitary subgroups of (infinite) Abelian groups are precisely the strictly invariant subgroups which are co-Hopfian (as groups), and strictly invariant subgroups turn out to be strongly invariant for large classes of Abelian groups we determine the solitary subgroups for these classes of groups.  相似文献

Previous work has recast the invariant theory of projective geometry in terms of first order logic. This approach is applied to two categories connected with combinatorial projective geometry and coordinatized combinatorial pregeometries to characterize those invariant formulas (capable of expressing geometric properties) in terms of the language of brackets or determinants. The axioms for the theory of coordinatized pregeometries in this language are presented and conclusions drawn about the significance of identities or syzygies in the study of combinatorial geometry.  相似文献

Describing intermediately fully invariant subgroups of divisible and torsion groups, we show that the intermediately fully invariant subgroups are direct summands in a completely decomposable group whose every homogeneous component is decomposable. For torsion groups, we find out when all their fully invariant subgroups are intermediately fully invariant; and for torsion-free groups, this question comes down to the reduced case. Also, in a torsion group that is the sum of cyclic subgroups, its subgroup is shown to be intermediately inert if and only if it is commensurable with some intermediately fully invariant subgroup.  相似文献

We consider complex projective structures on Riemann surfaces and their groups of projective automorphisms. We show that the structures achieving the maximal possible number of projective automorphisms allowed by their genus are precisely the Fuchsian uniformizations of Hurwitz surfaces by hyperbolic metrics. More generally we show that Galois Bely? curves are precisely those Riemann surfaces for which the Fuchsian uniformization is the unique complex projective structure invariant under the full group of biholomorphisms.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the natural metric on the connected component of the unit in the (Lie) motion group of a compact Finsler manifold supplied with its inner metric generates a bi-invariant inner Finsler metric. The latter is defined by the invariant Chebyshev norm on the Lie algebra of generators of 1-parameter motion subgroups on the manifold. This norm is equal to the maximal value of the generator’s length. A δ-homogeneous manifold is characterized by the condition that the canonical projection of the component onto the manifold is a submetry with respect to their inner metrics. The Chebyshev norms for the Euclidean spheres, the Berger spheres, and homogeneous Riemannian metrics on the 3-dimensional complex projective space are found. This gives interesting examples of invariant norms on Lie algebras and a new method for the separating of delta-homogeneous but not normal metrics. We prove that every fully invariant subgroup of a -local Warfield abelian group is the direct sum of a Warfield group and an -group. This solves a problem posed some time ago by R. B. Warfield, and finalizes recent work of M. Lane concerning the fully invariant subgroups of balanced projective groups.

Immersions of graphs into the projective plane are studied. A classification of immersions up to a regular homotopy is obtained. A complete invariant of immersions up to a regular homotopy is constructed. In this paper, a simple nonlinear controller is applied to investigate the generalized projective synchronization for a controlled chaotic gyroscope with a periodic gyroscope dynamical system. The necessary and sufficient conditions for generalized projective synchronization are developed through the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems. The synchronization invariant domain from the synchronization conditions is presented. The parameter maps are explored for a better understanding of the synchronicity of two gyroscopes with different motions. Finally, the partial and full generalized projective synchronizations of two nonlinear coupled gyroscope systems are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the scheme.  相似文献

Every Finsler metric induces a spray on a manifold. With a volume form on a manifold, every spray can be deformed to a projective spray. The Ricci curvature of a projective spray is called the projective Ricci curvature. The projective Ricci curvature is an important projective invariant in Finsler geometry. In this paper, we study and characterize projectively Ricci-flat square metrics. Moreover, we construct some nontrivial examples on such Finsler metrics.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the uniform distribution of points in compact metric spaces. We assume that there exists a probability measure on the Borel subsets of the space which is invariant under a suitable group of isometries. In this setting we prove the analogue of Weyl's criterion and the Erdös-Turán inequality by using orthogonal polynomials associated with the space and the measure. In particular, we discuss the special case of projective space over completions of number fields in some detail. An invariant measure in these projective spaces is introduced, and the explicit formulas for the orthogonal polynomials in this case are given. Finally, using the analogous Erdös-Turán inequality, we prove that the set of all projective points over the number field with bounded Arakelov height is uniformly distributed with respect to the invariant measure as the bound increases.

Motivated by the work of Crapo and Rota [6] on the lifting of a projective complex, we introduce a class of invariant operations associated to integral-weighted graphs, which we call graphical operations. Such operations generalize the sixth harmonic of a quadranguler set on a projective line. We determine the expansion of the graphical operations in terms of multi-linear bracket polynomials in a Grassmann-Cayley algebra. Associated with every finite projective Hjelmslev plane is an invariant pair (t,r): t is the number of neighbours of a given point on a given line passing through it and r is the order of the underlying projective plane. The Drake-Lenz method [2],[3] of using auxiliary matrices for the constructions of projective Hjelmslev planes has become standard by now. This paper is intended to give some new constructions of projective Hjelmslev planes with invariant pairs (t,3) by making use of the generalization and improvement of the Drake-Lenz theorem [3] obtained by the author in [6] and [7]. The results of this paper add 8 new values to the list ([5], example 3.7(ii)) of invariant pairs (t,3) with t 1,000 for projective Hjelmslev planes.  相似文献

We detail the enumeration of all two‐intersection sets of the five‐dimensional projective space over the field of order 3 that are invariant under an element of order 7, which include the examples of Hill (1973) and Gulliver (1996). We study holomorphic immersions f: X → M from a complex manifold X into a Kahler manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature M, i.e. a complex hyperbolic space form, a complex Euclidean space form, or the complex projective space equipped with the Fubini-Study metric. For X compact we show that the tangent sequence splits holomorphically if and only if f is a totally geodesic immersion. For X not necessarily compact we relate an intrinsic cohomological invariant p(X) on X, viz. the invariant defined by Gunning measuring the obstruction to the existence of holomorphic projective connections, to an extrinsic cohomological invariant v(f)measuring the obstruction to the holomorphic splitting of the tangent sequence. The two invariants p(X) and v(f) are related by a linear map on cohomology groups induced by the second fundamental form.In some cases, especially when X is a complex surface and M is of complex dimension 4, under the assumption that X admits a holomorphic projective connection we obtain a sufficient condition for the holomorphic splitting of the tangent sequence in terms of the second fundamental form.  相似文献

It is well known that pseudo–Riemannian metrics in the projective class of a given torsion free affine connection can be obtained from (and are equivalent to) the solutions of a certain overdetermined projectively invariant differential equation. This equation is a special case of a so-called first Bernstein–Gelfand–Gelfand (BGG) equation. The general theory of such equations singles out a subclass of so-called normal solutions. We prove that non-degenerate normal solutions are equivalent to pseudo–Riemannian Einstein metrics in the projective class and observe that this connects to natural projective extensions of the Einstein condition.  相似文献
