The application of Kantorovich's method to a trinomial model of deformation taking into account transverse bending of a plate leads to a connected system of three ordinary differential equations of fourth order with respect to three unknown functions of the longitudinal coordinate and to the coresponding boundary conditions for them at the fixed end and on the free edge. For the approximate calculation of the frequencies and forms of natural vibrations Galerkin's method is used, and as coordinate functions we chose orthogonal Jacobi polynomials with weight function. The dimensionless frequencies depend on the magnitude of the four dimensionless complexes, three of which characterize the anisotropy of the elastic properties of the composite. For the fibrous composites used at present we determined the possible range of change of the dimensionless complexes d16 and d26 attained by oblique placement. The article examines the influence of the angle of reinforcement on some first dimensionless frequencies of a plate made of unidirectional carbon reinforced plastic. It also analyzes the asymptotics of the frequencies when the length of the plate is increased, and it shows that for strongly anisotropic material with the structure []T the frequencies of the flexural as well as of the torsional vibrations may be substantially lower when flexural-torsional interaction is taken into account.For Communication 1 see [4].Institute of Engineering Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia. The Ritz method was used to determine the frequencies and forms of free vibrations of rectangular cantilever plates made of anisotropic laminated composites. Orthogonal Jacobi and Legendre polynomials were used as coordinate functions. The results of the calculations are in good agreement with the published experimental and calculated data of other authors for plates made of boron and carbon fiber reinforced plastics with different angles of reinforcement of unidirectional layers and different sequence of placing the layers, and also of isotropic plates. The dissipative characteristics in vibrations were determined on the basis of the concept of complex moduli. The solution of the frequency equation with complex coefficients yields a complex frequency; the loss factors are determined from the ratio of the imaginary component of the complex frequency to the real component. For plates of unidirectionally reinforced carbon fiber plastic with different relative length a detailed analysis of the influence of the angle of reinforcement on the interaction and frequency transformation and on the loss factor was carried out. The article shows that the loss factor of a plate depends substantially on the type of vibration mode: bending or torsional. It also examines the asymptotics of the loss factors of plates when their length is increased, and it notes that the binomial model of deformation leads to a noticeable error in the calculation of the loss factor of long plates when the angle of reinforcement lies in the range 20°<<70°.For Communication 2, see [1].Institute of Engineering Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia. For calculating the natural complex frequencies of torsional vibrations of rectangular orthotropic composite cantilever rods, a theory taking into account the normal stresses and inertial forces acting in the axial direction is employed. The results obtained are compared with those found by using the classical theory of torsional vibrations of rods, the theory of vibrations of thin orthotropic plates, and the FEM. It is found that the difference between the natural frequencies given by the classical and refined theories depends on relations between geometrical sizes of a rod and between its axial elastic modulus and shear moduli, and on the number of the mode of torsional vibrations.  相似文献

An expression for the energy flux vector of plate bending vibrations is obtained in invariant form. The derivation of expressions for the transverse force, bending and twisting moments in an arbitrary orthogonal coordinate system and the derivation of an orthogonality type condition for normal waves being propagated in a thin elastic strip with free edges are considered as applications.In a number of cases it turns out to be useful to consider the energy flux vector in analyzing the vibrations in systems with distributed parameters. The expressions for the Umov-Poynting vector in electrodynamics and for the energy flux vector in acoustics are well-known. An analogous vector for the bending Vibrations of a plate was mentioned only in [1 – 3], This vector is used in [1] to prove a uniqueness theorem for a two-component acoustic model consisting of an ideal compressible fluid and elastic plates in contact with it. However, the expression for the energy flux in [1] (it was later cited in [2, 3] with a reference to [1]) is erroneous. An exact expression (within the framework of the applicability of the Kirchhoff equation) is found below for the energy flux vector of the bending vibrations of a plate and some applications of the formulas obtained are mentioned.  相似文献

The influence of the orientation of reinforcing fibers on the natural frequencies and mechanical loss coefficient of coupled vibrations of unsupported symmetric and asymmetric box beams, as evaluated in numerical experiments, is discussed. The calculations were performed under the assumption that the real parts of the complex moduli and mechanical loss coefficient are frequency-independent. Vibration modes were identified by their surface shapes. The boundaries of the regions of mutual transformation of interacting vibration modes were determined by the joint analysis of the dependences of the coupled and partial eigenfrequencies and the mechanical loss coefficients on the orientation angle of reinforcing fibers. It is established that vibrations of a symmetric box beam give rise to two primary interactions: bending–torsional and longitudinal–shear ones, which are united into a unique longitudinal–bending–torsional–shear interaction by the secondary interaction caused by transverse shear strains. Vibrations of an asymmetric box beam give rise to longitudinal–torsional and bending–bending (in two mutually orthogonal planes) interactions. It is shown that in a number of cases variation in the orientation angle of reinforcing fibers is accompanied with a mutual transformation of coupled vibration modes. If the differential equations for natural vibrations involve odd-order derivatives with respect to the spatial variable (a symmetric beam and the bending–bending interaction of an asymmetric beam), then, with variation in the orientation angle of reinforcing fibers, the mutual transformation of coupled vibration modes proceeds. If the differential equations for natural vibrations involve only even-order derivatives (the longitudinal–torsional interaction of an asymmetric beam), no mutual transformation of coupled vibration modes occurs.  相似文献

The modes and frequencies of small natural vibrations in a cavity of thin plates are investigated on the basis of the method of finite elements in displacements. The effect of the rigidity characteristics of a material on the natural frequencies and modes of vibrations of flat cantilever vanes whose tapered edge is restrained is studied. An example is given of the use of the finite-element method to determine the natural vibrations of an orthotropic plate in the shape of an airplane wing. Quadrangular and modified triangular bending finite elements are used to simulate a continuous system. The Haar wavelet discretization technique for solving the elastic bending problems of orthotropic plates and shells is proposed. Free transverse vibrations of orthotropic rectangular plates with a variable thickness in one direction are considered as a model problem. In the case of constant plate thickness, the numerical results are validated by comparing them with an exact solution. The results obtained are found to be in good agreement with those available in the literature.  相似文献

Experimentally determined resonant frequencies and damping of flexural and torsional vibrations of rod-type rectangular test specimens made of an orthotropic GFRP fabric with different ratios of cross-sectional sizes are used for calculating six principal complex elastic and shear moduli. The application of the classical theories of flexural and torsional vibrations, the theory of flexural vibrations of a Timoshenko beam, and a refined theory of torsional vibrations of free-free orthotropic rods is analyzed.  相似文献

The free vibration of laminated composite plates on elastic foundations is examined by using a refined hyperbolic shear deformation theory. This theory is based on the assumption that the transverse displacements consist of bending and shear components where the bending components do not contribute to shear forces, and likewise, the shear components do not contribute to bending moments. The most interesting feature of this theory is that it allows for parabolic distributions of transverse shear stresses across the plate thickness and satisfies the conditions of zero shear stresses at the top and bottom surfaces of the plate without using shear correction factors. The number of independent unknowns in the present theory is four, as against five in other shear deformation theories. In the analysis, the foundation is modeled as a two-parameter Pasternak-type foundation, or as a Winkler-type one if the second foundation parameter is zero. The equation of motion for simply supported thick laminated rectangular plates resting on an elastic foundation is obtained through the use of Hamilton’s principle. The numerical results found in the present analysis for free the vibration of cross-ply laminated plates on elastic foundations are presented and compared with those available in the literature. The theory proposed is not only accurate, but also efficient in predicting the natural frequencies of laminated composite plates.  相似文献

This study analyses the free vibrations of circular thin plates for simply supported, clamped and free boundary conditions. The solution method used is differential transform method (DTM), which is a semi-numerical-analytical solution technique that can be applied to various types of differential equations. By using DTM, the governing differential equations are reduced to recurrence relations and its related boundary/regularity conditions are transformed into a set of algebraic equations. The frequency equations are obtained for the possible combinations of the outer edge boundary conditions and the regularity conditions at the center of the circular plate. Numerical results for the dimensionless natural frequencies are presented and then compared to the Bessel function solution and the numerical solutions that appear in literature. It is observed that DTM is a robust and powerful tool for eigenvalue analysis of circular thin plates.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of tests on free and forced harmonic torsional vibrations in a system with a two‐disc inseparable clutch, with structural friction taken into account. Nonlinear histeresis loop describing the frictional‐elastic properties of the system was introduced into the model. The mathematical model of the vibrating system containing two disks inseparable clutch was built. During free vibrations of the system, its damping characteristics were tested by a digital simulation method. The vibration damping decrement as a function of amplitude torsional displacement was determined. When vibrations were harmonically forced, the amplitude ‐ frequency characteristics of the system were determined numerically. A parallelepiped-shaped container, which is completely filled with a perfect incompressible fluid, is considered. The container is covered with an elastic lid, which is modeled by a membrane or a constant-thickness plate. The other faces of the container are nondeformable. The frequency spectrum of small free vibrations of the lid has been obtained taking into account the apparent mass of the fluid the movement of which is assumed to be potential. The main specific feature of the problem formulation is that the volume of the fluid under the cover remains unchanged in the course of vibrations. As a result, the shape of the deflection of the lid should satisfy the equation of constraint, which follows from the condition of preservation of the volume of the fluid under the lid.  相似文献

Presently, most of the research on vibrations of monolithic piezoelectric rods at weak electric fields is restricted to longitudinal oscillations of such structural members where free and forced vibrations have been dealt with and in the case of resonance conditions not only linear but also nonlinear effects within the constitutive relations have been incorporated. On the other hand, bending and torsional vibrations of piezoceramic one‐parametric rods have not been examined yet. The present contribution develops a linear vibration theory of rods with a focus to bending vibrations taking into account rotatory inertia and shear deformation. The governing boundary value problem for beams with both longitudinal and as well transversal polarization is derived, in particular free vibrations are analyzed. In this contribution, linear-elastic thin plates with a tolerance-periodic structure in planes parallel to the plate midplane are considered. It is assumed that their averaged (macroscopic) properties are described by continuous, slowly-varying functions. Hence, plates of this kind can be treated as plates with a functionally graded structure. The free vibrations of an elastic plate, placed orthogonally at the bottom of an unbounded open reservoir of constant depth, are considered. The reservoir is filled with a compressible liquid, the plate protrudes above the free surface and its rigidly fastened to the bottom. Gravitational effects are ignored. An analytical representation of the acoustic field in the liquid and the vibrational field in the plate is obtained. The natural frequencies and natural forms of vibration are calculated as a function of the height of the liquid level. Using the perturbation method we solve the problem of the steady-state transverse vibrations of a plate of variable thickness consisting of circular rings made of different cylindrically anisotropic materials. Subject of this paper is a thin plate with a characteristic geometry: periodic in one direction and smoothly varying along the other. The aim of the contribution is to formulate and apply the averaged model which can describe higher frequencies of free vibrations. Problem of finding frequencies of free vibrations is very important. It could be applied to many engineering problems such as resonance phenomena, wave propagation, absorption of vibrations and many others. When the considered plate is made of an isotropic material, we can find the first, the second and the others frequencies in simply way. But if we consider plate made of a functionally graded material [1], which have varying properties and which is made of two components, this problem is more complicated. In this cause, apart from family of the base frequencies (first, second, etc), which depend on macroscopic properties of the plate, we have the higher frequency, which depends on a microscopic structure. We can find many papers describing the base frequencies of free vibrations for many different types of structures (for example [2] for considered type of plate). In this paper, we find the higher frequency. For solving this problem, we use the tolerance averaging technique described in [3]. This theory allows to take into account the microstructure size and to find the higher frequency of free vibrations. The equations have smooth coefficients. They can be solved numerically with help of the finite difference method, in polar coordinates for an annular plate. Next, we use special procedure for selecting of the higher frequencies of free vibrations, which depend on the microstructure size, from the list of all frequencies. After that we analyze an influence of ratios of material properties and the microstructure size on the higher frequency of free vibrations. (© 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
