The reaction of manganese(II) acetate, 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)methane (H3thme), and triethylamine in methanol leads to the formation of [Mn12O2(OMe)2(thme)4(OAc)10(H2O)4].2MeOH. The [Mn(III)4Mn(II)8] core consists of a central [Mn(III)4O6] rhombus sandwiched by two [Mn(II)4O7] fragments. Frequency-dependent ac susceptibility and hysteresis loops in the magnetization indicate single-molecule magnet behavior with a pure quantum-tunneling regime of relaxation below 0.2 K.  相似文献

The syntheses, structures, and magnetic properties are reported of the mixed-metal complexes [Ce4Mn10O10(OMe)6(O2CPh)16(NO3)2(MeOH)2(H2O)2] (1) and [Th6Mn10O22(OH)2(O2CPh)16-(NO3)2(H2O)8] (2), which were both prepared by the reaction of (NBun4)[Mn4O2(O2CPh)9(H2O)] (3) with a source of the heterometal in MeCN/MeOH. Complexes 1 and 2 crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c and the triclinic space group P, respectively. Complex 1 consists of 10 MnIII, 2 CeIII, and 2 CeIV atoms and possesses a very unusual tubular [Ce4Mn10O10(OMe)6]18+ core. Complex 2 consists of 10 MnIV and 6 ThIV atoms and possesses a [Th6Mn10O22(OH)2]18+ core with the metal atoms arranged in layers with a 2:3:6:3:2 pattern. Peripheral ligation around the cores is provided by 16 bridging benzoates, 2 chelating nitrates, and either (i) 2 each of terminal H2O and MeOH groups in 1 or (ii) 8 terminal H2O groups in 2. Complex 1 is the largest mixed-metal Ce/Mn cluster and the first 3d/4f cluster with mixed-valency in its lanthanide component, while complex 2 is the first Th/Mn cluster and the largest mixed transition metal/actinide cluster to date. Solid-state dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements on 1 and 2 establish that they possess S = 4 and 3 ground states, respectively. Ac susceptibility studies on 1 revealed nonzero frequency-dependent out-of-phase (chiM' ') signals at temperatures below 3 K; complex 2 displays no chiM' ' signals. However, single-crystal magnetization vs dc field scans at variable temperatures and variable sweep-rates down to 0.04 K on 1 revealed no noticeable hysteresis loops, except very minor ones at 0.04 K assignable to weak intermolecular interactions propagated by hydrogen bonds involving CeIII-bound ligands. Complex 1 is thus concluded not to be a single-molecule magnet (SMM), and the combined results thus represent a caveat against taking such ac signals as sufficient proof of a SMM.  相似文献

The reactions of appropriate ratios of K2TeO3 and [Mn2(CO)10)] in superheated methanol solutions lead to a series of novel cluster anions [Te4Mn3(CO)10] (1), [Te2Mn3(CO)9]2- (2), [Te2Mn3(CO)9]- (3), and [Te2Mn4(CO)12]2- (4). When cluster 1 is treated with [Mn2(CO)10]/KOH in methanol, paramagnetic cluster 2 is formed in moderate yield. Cluster 2 is oxidized by [Cu(MeCN)4]BF4 to give the closo-cluster [Te2Mn3(CO)9]- (3), while treatment of 2 with [Mn2(CO)10]/KOH affords the closo-cluster 4. IR spectroscopy showed that cluster 1 reacted with [Mn2(CO)10] to give cluster 4 via cluster 2. Clusters 1-4 were structurally characterized by spectroscopic methods or/and X-ray analyses. The core structure of 1 can be described as two [Mn(CO)3] groups doubly bridged by two Te2 fragments in a mu2-eta2 fashion. Both [Mn(CO)3] groups are further coordinated to one [Mn(CO)4] moiety. Cluster 2 is a 49 e- species with a square-pyramidal core geometry. While cluster 3 displays a trigonal-bipyramidal metal core, cluster 4 possesses an octahedral core geometry.  相似文献

Na10(Na,Mn)7Mn43(PO4)36 (sodium manganese phosphate) was synthesized hydrothermally at 873 K and 0.35 GPa. The complex crystal structure is almost identical to that of natural fillowite‐type phosphates and can be described as a hexagonal packing of three types of rods parallel to the c axis. The rods are constituted by an alternation of five‐ to seven‐coordinated Mn sites [average Mn—O = 2.243 (3) Å], of six‐ to nine‐coordinated Na sites [average Na—O = 2.590 (3) Å], of PO4 tetrahedra [average P—O = 1.548 (3) Å] and of cation vacancies.  相似文献

The reactions of [Mn12O12(O2CEt)16(H2O)4] with phenylphosphinic acid (PhHPO2H) in MeCN and MeCN/CH2Cl2 have led to isolation of [Mn22O12(O2CEt)22(O3PPh)8(H2O)8] (2) and [Mn22O12(O2CEt)20(O3PPh)8(O2PPhH)2(H2O)8]n (3), respectively, both containing PhPO3(2-) groups from in situ oxidation of PhHPO(2)(-). Complex 2 is molecular and consists of two Mn9 subunits linked by four additional Mn atoms. Complex 3 contains almost identical Mn22 units as 2, but they are linked into a one-dimensional chain structure. The Mn22 unit in both compounds is mixed-valence Mn(III)18, Mn(II)4. Solid-state, variable-temperature dc magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements were performed on vacuum-dried samples of 2 and 3, indicating dominant antiferromagnetic interactions. A good fit of low-temperature magnetization data for 2 could not be obtained because of problems associated with low-lying excited states, as expected for a high nuclearity complex containing Mn(II) atoms. An approximate fit using only data collected in small applied fields indicated an S = 7 or 8 ground state for 2. Solid-state ac susceptibility data established that the true ground state of 2 is S = 7 and that the connected Mn22 units of 3 are ferromagnetically coupled. Both 2 and 3 displayed weak out-of-phase ac signals indicative of slow magnetization relaxation. Single-crystal magnetization versus applied dc field scans exhibited hysteresis loops for both compounds, establishing them as new single-molecule and single-chain magnets, respectively. Complex 2 also showed steps in its hysteresis loops characteristic of quantum tunneling of magnetization, the highest nuclearity molecule to show such QTM steps. Arrhenius plots constructed from dc magnetization versus time decay plots gave effective barriers to magnetization relaxation (U(eff)) of 6 and 11 cm(-1) for 2 and 3, respectively.  相似文献

The synthesis and magnetic properties of four new Mn complexes containing tripodal alcohol ligands are reported: [Mn6(OAc)6(H2tea)2(tmp)2].2MeCN (1.2MeCN), [Mn6(acac)4(OAc)2(Htmp)2(H2N-ep)2] (2), [Mn6(OAc)8(tmp)2(py)4].2py (3.2py), and [Mn6(OAc)8(thme)2(py)4].2py (4.2py) [H3tea, triethanolamine; H3tmp, 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane; H2N-H2ep, 2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol; H3thme, 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane]. All complexes are mixed-valent with a [Mn(III)2Mn(II)4] oxidation assignment and are constructed from four edge-sharing triangles but differ slightly in that complexes 1 and 2 display a [Mn(III)2Mn(II)4(mu2-OR)6(mu3-OR)4]4+ core, while complexes 3 and 4 feature [Mn(III)2Mn(II)4(mu2-OR)2(mu3-OR)4]8+ and [Mn(III)2Mn(II)4(mu2-OR)4(mu3-OR)4]6+ cores, respectively. dc and ac magnetic susceptibility studies in the 2-300 K range for complexes 1-4 reveal the presence of dominant antiferromagnetic exchange interactions, leading to ground states of S = 0 for 1 and 2, while complexes 3 and 4 display S = 4 ground states with D = -0.44 and -0.58 cm(-1), respectively. Single-molecule magnetism behavior was confirmed for 3 and 4 by the presence of sweep-rate and temperature-dependent hysteresis loops in single-crystal M vs H studies at temperatures down to 40 mK. Theoretical density functional calculations were used to evaluate the individual pairwise exchange interactions present, confirming the diamagnetic ground states for 1 and 2 and the S = 4 ground states for 3 and 4.  相似文献

The syntheses, crystal structures, and magnetochemical characterization are reported for the new mixed-valent Mn clusters [Mn(2)(II)Mn(III)(O(2)CMe)(2)(edteH(2))(2)](ClO(4)) (1), [Mn(II)(2)Mn(III)(2)(edteH(2))(2)(hmp)(2)Cl(2)](Mn(II)Cl(4)) (2), [Mn(III)(6)O(2)(O(2)CBu(t))(6)(edteH)(2)(N(3))(2)] (3), [Na(2)Mn(III)(8)Mn(II)(2)O(4)(OMe)(2)(O(2)CEt)(6)(edte)(2)(N(3))(6)] (4), and (NEt(4))(2)[Mn(8)(III)Mn(2)(II)O(4)(OH)(2)-(O(2)CEt)(6)(edte)(2)(N(3))(6)](5), where edteH(4) is N,N,N',N'-tetrakis-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine and hmpH is 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine. 1-5 resulted from a systematic exploration of the effect of different Mn sources, carboxylates, the presence of azide, and other conditions, on the Mn/edteH(4) reaction system. The core of 1 consists of a linear Mn(II)Mn(III)Mn(II) unit, whereas that of 2 is a planar Mn(4) rhombus within a [Mn(II)(2)Mn(III)(2)(μ(3)-OR)(2)] incomplete-dicubane unit. The core of 3 comprises a central [Mn(III)(4)(OR)(2)] incomplete-dicubane on either side of which is edge-fused a triangular [Mn(III)(3)(μ(3)-O)] unit. The cores of 4 and 5 are similar and consist of a central [Mn(II)(2)Mn(III)(2)(μ(3)-OR)(2)] incomplete-dicubane on either side of which is edge-fused a distorted [Mn(II)Mn(III)(3)(μ(3)-O)(2)(μ(3)-OR)(2)] cubane unit. Variable-temperature, solid-state direct current (dc) and alternating current (ac) magnetization studies were carried out on 1-5 in the 5.0-300 K range, and they established the complexes to have ground state spin values of S = 3 for 1, S = 9 for 2, and S = 4 for 3. The study of 3 provided an interesting caveat of potential pitfalls from particularly low-lying excited states. For 4 and 5, the ground state is in the S = 0-4 range, but its identification is precluded by a high density of low-lying excited states.  相似文献

The syntheses, structures, and magnetic properties of two new single-stranded hexadecanuclear manganese wheels [Mn16(CH3COO)8(CH3CH2CH2COO)8(teaH)12] x 10 MeCN (1 x 10 MeCN) and [Mn16((CH3)2CHCOO)16(teaH)12] x 4 CHCl3 (2 x 4 CHCl3), where teaH(2-) is the dianion of triethanolamine, are reported. 1 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4(1)/a space group [a = b = 33.519(4) A and c = 16.659(2) A]. 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group [a = 21.473(5), b = 26.819(6), c = 35.186(7), and beta = 93.447(5) degrees]. Both complexes consist of 8 Mn(II) and 8 Mn(III) ions alternating in a wheel-shaped topology with 12 monoprotonated triethanolamine ligands. Variable-temperature direct current (DC) magnetic susceptibility data were collected in 1 T, 0.1 and 0.01 T fields, and in the 1.8-300 K temperature range for 1 and 2. Variable-temperature variable-field DC magnetic susceptibility data were obtained in the 1.8-10 K and 0.1-5 T ranges and least-squares fitting of these reduced magnetization versus H/T data indicates a S = 13 ground-state for 1 and 2. Single-crystal magnetization hysteresis measurements were performed in a 0.04-1 K temperature range for complex 2. Hysteresis loops were observed that showed a temperature dependence, which indicates that 2 exhibits magnetization relaxation and is a SMM. Both 1 and 2 show frequency-dependent out-of-phase signals in the AC susceptibility measurements, collected in a temperature range of 1.8-5 K and in the frequency range of 50-10,000 Hz. Extrapolation of the in-phase component of the AC susceptibility data to 0 K indicates an S = 12 ground state for 1 and an S = 11 ground-state for 2. Complex 1 has the highest-spin ground state reported to date for a single-stranded manganese wheel and is likely to be an SMM based on a frequency-dependent out-of-phase signal in the AC susceptibility. The AC susceptibility as well as magnetization hysteresis data for 2 confirm that this species is an SMM.  相似文献

Reactions of Mn sources with di-2-pyridyl ketone, (2-py)2CO, and phenyl 2-pyridyl ketone oxime, (ph)(2-py)CNOH, give the novel clusters [Mn10(II)Mn4(III)O4(O2CMe)20[(2-py)2C(OH)O]4] 1 and [Mn4(II)Mn4(III)O2(OH)2(O2CPh)10[(ph)(2-py)CNO]4] 2, respectively, which possess low-spin ground states; the observed tetradecanuclearity in 1 is extremely rare in 3d-metal chemistry, while the core of 2 has a unique topology consisting of two linked [Mn2(II)Mn2(III)O(OH)] units.  相似文献

We have structurally and magnetically characterized a total of 12 complexes based on the Single-Molecule Magnet (SMM) [MnIII6O2(sao)6(O2CH)2(MeOH) 4] (1) (where sao2- is the dianion of salicylaldoxime or 2-hydroxybenzaldeyhyde oxime) that display analogous structural cores but remarkably different magnetic behaviors. Via the use of derivatized oxime ligands and bulky carboxylates we show that it is possible to deliberately increase the value of the spin ground state of the complexes [Mn6O2(Me-sao)6(O2CCPh3)2(EtOH)4] (2), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2CCMe3)2(EtOH)5] (3), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2CPh2OPh)2(EtOH)4] (4), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2CPh4OPh)2(EtOH)4(H2O)2] (5), [Mn6O2(Me-sao)6(O2CPhBr)2(EtOH)6] (6), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2CPh)2(EtOH)4(H2O)2] (7), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6{O2CPh(Me)2}2(EtOH)6] (8), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2C11H15)2(EtOH)6] (9), [Mn6O2(Me-sao)6(O2C-th)2(EtOH)4(H2O)2] (10), [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2CPhMe)2(EtOH)4(H2O)2] (11), and [Mn6O2(Et-sao)6(O2C12H17)2(EtOH)4(H2O)2] (12) (Et-saoH2 = 2-hydroxypropiophenone oxime, Me-saoH2 = 2-hydroxyethanone oxime, HO2CCPh3 = triphenylacetic acid, HO2CCMe3 = pivalic acid, HO2CPh2OPh = 2-phenoxybenzoic acid, HO2CPh4OPh = 4-phenoxybenzoic acid, HO2CPhBr = 4-bromobenzoic acid, HO2CPh(Me)2 = 3,5-dimethylbenzoic acid, HO2C11H15 = adamantane carboxylic acid, HO2C-th = 3-thiophene carboxylic acid, HO2CPhMe = 4-methylbenzoic acid, and HO2C12H17 = adamantane acetic acid) in a stepwise fashion from S = 4 to S = 12 and, in-so-doing, enhance the energy barrier for magnetization reorientation to record levels. The change from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic exchange stems from the "twisting" or "puckering" of the (-Mn-N-O-)3 ring, as evidenced by the changes in the Mn-N-O-Mn torsion angles.  相似文献

The reaction of [Mn6O2(Piv)(10)(4-Me-py)(2.5)(PivH)(1.5)] (1) (py: pyridine, Piv: pivilate) with N-methyldiethanolamine (mdeaH2) and Ln(NO3)3 x 6 H2O in MeCN leads to a series of nonanuclear compounds [Mn5Ln4(O)6(mdea)2(mdeaH)2(Piv)6(NO3)4(H2O)2]2 MeCN (Ln=Tb(III) (2), Dy(III) (3), Ho(III) (4), Y(III) (5)). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction shows that compounds 2-5 are isostructural, with the central core composed of two distorted {Mn(IV)Mn(III)Ln2O4} cubanes sharing a Mn(IV) vertex, representing a new heterometallic 3d-4f motif for this class of ligand. The four new compounds display single-molecule magnet (SMM) behaviour, which is modulated by the lanthanide ion used. Moreover, the values found for Delta(eff) and tau(o) for 3 of 38.6 K and 3.0 x 10(-9) s respectively reveal that the complex 3 exhibits the highest energy barrier recorded so far for 3d-4f SMMs. The slow relaxation of the magnetisation for 3 was confirmed by mu-SQUID measurements on an oriented single crystal and the observation of M versus H hysteresis loops below 1.9 K.  相似文献

A high-nuclearity mixed transition metal/actinide complex has been prepared from the reaction of a Mn(III)4 complex with Th(NO3)4 in MeCN/MeOH. The complex [Th6Mn10O22(OH)2(O2CPh)16(NO3)2-(H2O)8] is the largest such complex to date and the first Th/Mn species. It is rich in oxide groups, which stabilize all of the metals in the high Th(IV) and Mn(IV) oxidation levels. Magnetic characterization establishes that the complex has an S = 3 ground-state spin value.  相似文献

The use has been explored of both azide (N3-) and alkoxide-containing groups such as the anions of 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine (hmpH), 2,6-pyridinedimethanol (pdmH2), 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane (thmeH3) and triethanolamine (teaH3) in Mn cluster chemistry. The 1:1:1:1 reactions of hmpH, NaN3 and NEt3 with Mn(ClO4)(2).6H 2O or Mn(NO3)2.H2O in MeCN/MeOH afford [MnII4MnIII6O4(N3)4(hmp)12](X)2 [X=ClO4- (1), N3- (2)]. The [Mn10(mu4-O) 4(mu3-N3)4]14+ core of the cation has a tetra-face-capped octahedral topology, with a central MnIII6 octahedron, whose eight faces are bridged by four mu 3-N3- and four mu 4-O2- ions, the latter also bridging to four extrinsic MnII atoms. The core has Td symmetry, but the complete [MnII4MnIII6O4(N3)4(hmp)12]2+ cation has rare T symmetry, which is crystallographically imposed. A similar reaction of Mn(ClO4) (2).6H2O with one equiv each of NaN3, thmeH3, pdmH2, and NEt3 in MeCN/MeOH led to [MnII4MnIII6O2(N3)6(pdmH)4(thme)4] (3). Complex 3 is at the same oxidation level as 1/2 but its core is structurally different, consisting of two edge-fused [MnII2MnIII4(mu4-O)]14+ octahedra. Replacement of thmeH3 with teaH3 in this reaction gave instead [MnII2MnIII2(N3)4(pdmH)2(teaH)2] (4), containing a planar Mn 4 rhombus. Variable-temperature, solid-state dc and ac magnetization studies were carried out on 1-4 in the 5.0-300 K range. Complexes 1 and 2 are completely ferromagnetically coupled with a resulting S=22 ground state, one of the highest yet reported. Fits of dc magnetization vs field (H) and temperature (T) data by matrix diagonalization gave S=22, g=2.00, and D approximately 0.0 cm(-1) (D is the axial zero-field splitting parameter). In contrast, the data for 3 revealed dominant antiferromagnetic interactions and a resulting S=0 ground state. Complex 4 contains weakly ferromagnetically coupled Mn atoms, leading to an S=9 ground-state and low-lying excited states, and exhibits out-of-phase ac susceptibility signals characteristic of a single-molecule magnet. Theoretical values of the exchange constants in 1 obtained with density functional theory and ZILSH calculations were in good agreement with experimental values. The combined work demonstrates the synthetic usefulness of alcohol-based chelates and azido ligands when used together, and the synthesis in the present work of two "isomeric" MnIII6MnII4 cores that differ in spin by a remarkable 22 units.  相似文献

The controlled organization of high-spin complexes, eventually single-molecule magnets, is a great challenge in molecular sciences to probe the possibility to design sophisticated magnetic systems to address a large quantity of magnetic information. The coordination chemistry is a tool of choice to make such materials. In this work, high-spin S(T) = 22 [Mn(10)] complexes, such as [Mn(III)(6)Mn(II)(4)(L(1))(6)(μ(4)-O)(4)(μ(3)-N(3))(4)(CH(3)CN)(11)(H(2)O)]·(ClO(4))(2)·(CH(3)CN)(8.5) (1), have been assembled using (i) 1,3-propanediol derivatives as chelating ligands to form the [Mn(10)] core units and (ii) dicyanamide or azide anions as linkers to synthesize the first 2D and 3D [Mn(10)]-based networks: [Mn(III)(6)Mn(II)(4)(L(2))(6)(μ(3)-N(3))(4)(μ(4)-O)(4)(CH(3)OH)(4)(dca)(2)] (2) and [Mn(III)(6)Mn(II)(4)(L(3))(6)(μ(3)-N(3))(4)(μ(4)-O)(4)(N(3))(2)]·(CH(3)OH)(4) (3). The synthesis of these compounds is reported together with their single-crystal X-ray structures and magnetic properties supported by DFT calculations. In the reported synthetic conditions, the stability of the [Mn(10)] complex is remarkably good that allows us to imagine many new materials combining these high-spin moieties and other diamagnetic but also paramagnetic linkers to design for example ordered magnets.  相似文献

Two new one-dimensional heterometallic complexes, [Mn(3)Na(L)(4)(CH(3)CO(2))(MeOH)(2)](ClO(4))(2)·3H(2)O (1), [Mn(3)Na(L)(4)(CH(3)CH(2)CO(2))(MeOH)(2)](ClO(4))(2)·2MeOH·H(2)O (2) [LH(2) = 2-methyl-2-(2-pyridyl)propane-1,3-diol], have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. Both complexes feature Mn(II) and Na(I) ions in trigonal-prismatic geometries that are linked to octahedral Mn(IV) ions by alkoxy bridges. Variable-temperature direct- and alternating-current magnetic susceptibility data indicated a spin ground state of S = 11/2 for both complexes. Density functional theory calculations performed on 1 supported this conclusion.  相似文献

Mn(II)9 grid complexes with a [Mn9(mu-O)12] core, obtained by self-assembly of a series of tritopic picolinic dihydrazone ligands with Mn(II) salts, have been oxidized by both chemical and electrochemical methods to produce mixed oxidation state systems. Examples involving [Mn(III)3Mn(II)6] and [Mn(III)4Mn(II)5] combinations have been produced. Structures are reported for [Mn9(2poap-2H)6](NO3)6.14H2O (1), [Mn9(2poap-2H)6](ClO4)10.10H2O (3), and [Mn9(Cl2poap-2H)6](ClO4)9.14H2O.3CH3CN (10). Structural studies show distinct contraction of the corner grid sites on oxidation, with overall magnetic properties consistent with the resulting changes in electron distribution. Antiferromagnetic exchange in the outer ring of eight metal centers creates a ferrimagnetic subunit, which undergoes antiferromagnetic coupling to the central metal, leading to S=1/2 (3) and S2/2 (10) ground states. Two moderately intense absorptions are observed on oxidation of the Mn(II) grids in the visible and near-infrared (1000 nm, 700 nm), associated with charge transfer transitions (LMCT, IVCT respectively). Compound 1 crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group P2 1/n, with a=21.308(2) A, b=23.611(2) A, c=32.178(3) A, beta=93.820(2) degrees . Compound 3 crystallized in the tetragonal system, space group I, with a=b=18.44410(10) A, c = 24.9935(3) A. Compound 10 crystallized in the triclinic system, space group P, with a=19.1150(10) A, b=19.7221(10) A, c=26.8334(14) A, alpha=74.7190(10) degrees, beta=77.6970(10) degrees, gamma=64.7770(10) degrees. The facile oxidation of the Mn(II)9 grids is highlighted in terms of their potential use as molecular based platforms for switching and data storage.  相似文献

The synthesis, magnetic characterization and X-ray crystal structures are reported for five new manganese compounds, [Mn(III)(teaH(2))(sal)]·(1/2)H(2)O (1), [Na(I)(2)Mn(II)(4)Mn(III)(4)(teaH)(6)(sal)(4)(N(3))(2)(MeOH)(4)]·6MeOH (2), [Na(I)(2)Mn(II)(4)Mn(III)(4)(teaH)(6)(sal)(4)(N(3))(2)(MeOH)(2)](n)·7MeOH (3), [Na(I)(2)Mn(II)(4)Mn(III)(4)(teaH)(6)(sal)(4)(N(3))(2)(MeOH)(2)](n)·2MeOH·Et(2)O (4) and [K(I)(2)Mn(II)(4)Mn(III)(4)(teaH)(6)(sal)(4)(N(3))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n)·5MeOH (5). Complex 1 is a mononuclear compound, formed via the reaction of Mn(NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O, triethanolamine (teaH(3)) and salicylic acid (salH(2)) in a basic methanolic solution. Compound 2 is a mixed-valent hetero-metallic cluster made up of a Mn(8)Na(2) decanuclear core and is formed via the reaction of sodium azide (NaN(3)) with 1. Compounds 3-5 are isolated as 1- or 2-D coordination polymers, each containing the decanuclear Mn(8)M(2) (M = Na(+) or K(+)) core building block as the repeating unit. Compound 3 is isolated when 1 is reacted with NaN(3) over a very short reaction time and forms a 1-D coordination polymer. Each unit displays inter-cluster bridges via the O-atoms of teaH(2-) ligands bonding to the sodium ions of an adjacent cluster. Increasing the reaction time appears to drive the formation of 4 which forms 2-D polymeric sheets and is a packing polymorph of 3. The addition of KMnO(4) and NaN(3) to 1 resulted in compound 5, which also forms a 1-D coordination polymer of the decanuclear core unit. The 1-D chains are now linked via inter-cluster potassium and salicylate bridges. Solid state DC susceptibility measurements were performed on compounds 1-5. The data for 1 are as expected for an S = 2 Mn(III) ion, with the isothermal M vs. H data being fitted by matrix diagonalization methods to give values of g and the axial (D) and rhombic (E) zero field splitting parameters of 2.02, -2.70 cm(-1) and 0.36 cm(-1) respectively. The data for 2-5, each with an identical Mn(II)(4)Mn(III)(4) metallic core, indicates large spin ground states, with likely values of S = 16 (±1) for each. Solid state AC susceptibility measurements confirm the large spin ground state values and is also suggestive of SMM behaviour for 2-5 as observed via the onset of frequency dependent out-of-phase peaks.  相似文献

Two new polynuclear heterometallic cluster complexes with [Mn(III)(3)M(II)Na] (M = Mn, Ca) core were synthesized using two in situ formed Schiff bases. The compounds were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis. The compound with [Mn(III)Ca(II)Na] appeared to catalyse water oxidation which was followed by using Clark electrode and online mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic exchange between the three Mn ions in the complex [Mn3(Hcht)2(bpy)4](ClO4)3 leads to a spin ground state of S = 7; single crystal studies reveal the temperature and sweep rate dependent hysteresis loops expected for a single-molecule magnet.  相似文献
