We prove that a bounded open set U in has k-width less than C(n) Volume(U) k/n . Using this estimate, we give lower bounds for the k-dilation of degree 1 maps between certain domains in . In particular, we estimate the smallest (n – 1)-dilation of any degree 1 map between two n-dimensional rectangles. For any pair of rectangles, our estimate is accurate up to a dimensional constant C(n). We give examples in which the (n – 1)-dilation of the linear map is bigger than the optimal value by an arbitrarily large factor. We prove that all irreducible representations of the bismash product have Frobenius–Schur indicator +1, where k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. If n = p, a prime, we find all indicators for . We also study more general bismash products. Both authors were supported by NSF grants DMS-07-01291 and DMS-04-01399.  相似文献

Recently the first author presented exact formulas for the number of 2 n -periodic binary sequences with given 1-error linear complexity, and an exact formula for the expected 1-error linear complexity and upper and lower bounds for the expected k-error linear complexity, k ≥ 2, of a random 2 n -periodic binary sequence. A crucial role for the analysis played the Chan–Games algorithm. We use a more sophisticated generalization of the Chan–Games algorithm by Ding et al. to obtain exact formulas for the counting function and the expected value for the 1-error linear complexity for p n -periodic sequences over prime. Additionally we discuss the calculation of lower and upper bounds on the k-error linear complexity of p n -periodic sequences over .   相似文献

It is shown that every almost *-homomorphism h : A→B of a unital JC*-algebra A to a unital JC*-algebra B is a *-homomorphism when h(rx) = rh(x) (r 〉 1) for all x∈A, and that every almost linear mapping h : A→B is a *-homomorphism when h(2^nu o y) - h(2^nu) o h(y), h(3^nu o y) - h(3^nu) o h(y) or h(q^nu o y) = h(q^nu) o h(y) for all unitaries u ∈A, all y ∈A, and n = 0, 1,.... Here the numbers 2, 3, q depend on the functional equations given in the almost linear mappings. We prove that every almost *-homomorphism h : A→B of a unital Lie C*-algebra A to a unital Lie C*-algebra B is a *-homomorphism when h(rx) = rh(x) (r 〉 1) for all x ∈A.  相似文献

We show that the covering radius R of an [n,k,d] code over Fq is bounded above by R n-n q(k, d/q). We strengthen this bound when R d and find conditions under which equality holds. As applications of this and other bounds, we show that all binary linear codes of lengths up to 15, or codimension up to 9, are normal. We also establish the normality of most codes of length 16 and many of codimension 10. These results have applications in the construction of codes that attain t[n,k,/it>], the smallest covering radius of any binary linear [n,k].We also prove some new results on the amalgamated direct sum (ADS) construction of Graham and Sloane. We find new conditions assuring normality of the ADS; covering radius 1 less than previously guaranteed for ADS of codes with even norms; good covering codes as ADS without the hypothesis of normality, from concepts p- stable and s- stable; codes with best known covering radii as ADS of two, often cyclic, codes (thus retaining structure so as to be suitable for practical applications).  相似文献

Let be a probability space with a nonatomic measure P and let (S,ρ) be a separable complete metric space. Let {N n ,n≥1} be an arbitrary sequence of positive-integer valued random variables. Let {F k ,k≥1} be a family of probability laws and let X be some random element defined on and taking values in (S,ρ). In this paper we present necessary and sufficient conditions under which one can construct an array of random elements {X n,k ,n,k≥1} defined on the same probability space and taking values in (S,ρ), and such that , and moreover as  n→∞. Furthermore, we consider the speed of convergence to X as n→∞.   相似文献

Kerdock codes (Kerdock, Inform Control 20:182–187, 1972) are a well-known family of non-linear binary codes with good parameters admitting a linear presentation in terms of codes over the ring (see Nechaev, Diskret Mat 1:123–139, 1989; Hammons et al., IEEE Trans Inform Theory 40:301–319, 1994). These codes have been generalized in different directions: in Calderbank et al. (Proc Lond Math Soc 75:436–480, 1997) a symplectic construction of non-linear binary codes with the same parameters of the Kerdock codes has been given. Such codes are not necessarily equivalent. On the other hand, in Kuzmin and Nechaev (Russ Math Surv 49(5), 1994) the authors give a family of non-linear codes over the finite field F of q = 2 l elements, all of them admitting a linear presentation over the Galois Ring R of cardinality q 2 and characteristic 22. The aim of this article is to merge both approaches, obtaining in this way new families of non-linear codes over F that can be presented as linear codes over the Galois Ring R. The construction uses symplectic spreads.   相似文献

For a subset ψ of PG(N, 2) a known result states that ψ has polynomial degree ≤ r, rN, if and only if ψ intersects every r-flat of PG(N, 2) in an odd number of points. Certain refinements of this result are considered, and are then applied in the case when ψ is the Grassmannian , to show that for n <8 the polynomial degree of is .  相似文献

If a monoid S is given by some finite complete presentation ℘, we construct inductively a chain of CW-complexes
such that Δ n has dimension n, for every 2≤mn, the m-skeleton of Δ n is Δ m , and p m are critical (m+1)-cells with 1≤mn−2. For every 2≤mn−1, the following is an exact sequence of (ℤS,ℤS)-bimodules
where if m=2. We then use these sequences to obtain a free finitely generated bimodule partial resolution of ℤS. Also we show that for groups properties FDT and FHT coincide.  相似文献

Let be a universal binary countable homogeneous structure and n∈ω. We determine the equivalence relation on [U]n with the smallest number of equivalence classes r so that each one of the classes is indivisible. As a consequence we obtain
and a characterization of the smallest number r so that the arrow relation above holds. For the case of infinitely many colors we determine the canonical set of equivalence relations, extending the result of Erdős and Rado for the integers to countable universal binary homogeneous structures. * Supported by NSERC of Canada Grant # 690404. † Supported by NSERC of Canada Grant # 691325.  相似文献

For a positive integer n and R>0, we set . Given R>1 and n≥4 we construct a sequence of analytic perturbations (H j ) of the completely integrable Hamiltonian on , with unstable orbits for which we can estimate the time of drift in the action space. These functions H j are analytic on a fixed complex neighborhood V of , and setting the time of drift of these orbits is smaller than (C(1/ɛ j )1/2(n-3)) for a fixed constant c>0. Our unstable orbits stay close to a doubly resonant surface, the result is therefore almost optimal since the stability exponent for such orbits is 1/2(n−2). An analogous result for Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms is also proved. Two main ingredients are used in order to deal with the analytic setting: a version of Sternberg's conjugacy theorem in a neighborhood of a normally hyperbolic manifold in a symplectic system, for which we give a complete (and seemingly new) proof; and Easton windowing method that allow us to approximately localize the wandering orbits and estimate their speed of drift.  相似文献

Let σ(k, n) be the smallest even integer such that each n-term positive graphic sequence with term sum at least σ(k, n) can be realized by a graph containing a clique of k + 1 vertices. Erdos et al. (Graph Theory, 1991, 439-449) conjectured that σ(k, n) = (k - 1)(2n- k) + 2. Li et al. (Science in China, 1998, 510-520) proved that the conjecture is true for k 〉 5 and n ≥ (k2) + 3, and raised the problem of determining the smallest integer N(k) such that the conjecture holds for n ≥ N(k). They also determined the values of N(k) for 2 ≤ k ≤ 7, and proved that [5k-1/2] ≤ N(k) ≤ (k2) + 3 for k ≥ 8. In this paper, we determine the exact values of σ(k, n) for n ≥ 2k+3 and k ≥ 6. Therefore, the problem of determining σ(k, n) is completely solved. In addition, we prove as a corollary that N(k) -= [5k-1/2] for k ≥6.  相似文献

For a probability space (Ω,ℱ,P) and two sub-σ-fields we consider two natural distances: and . We investigate basic properties of these distances. In particular we show that if a distance (ρ or ) from ℬ to is small then there exists Z∈ℱ with small P(Z), such that for every B∈ℬ there exists such that BZ and AZ differ by a set of probability zero. This improves results of Neveu (Ann. Math. Stat. 43(4):1369–1371, [1972]), Jajte and Paszkiewicz (Probab. Math. Stat. 19(1):181–201, [1999]).   相似文献

In this paper we consider the Lane–Emden problem adapted for the p-Laplacian
where Ω is a bounded domain in , n ≥ 2, λ > 0 and p < qp* (with if p < n, and p* = ∞ otherwise). After some recalls about the existence of ground state and least energy nodal solutions, we prove that, when qp, accumulation points of ground state solutions or of least energy nodal solutions are, up to a “good” scaling, respectively first or second eigenfunctions of  −Δ p . We prove firstly the classification theorem for p-harmonic morphisms between Euclidean domains. Secondly, we show that if is a p-harmonic morphism (p ≥ 2) from a complete Riemannian manifold M of nonnegative Ricci curvature into a Riemannian manifold N of non-positive scalar curvature such that the L q -energy is finite, then is constant, which improve the corresponding result due to G. Choi, G. Yun in (Geometriae Dedicata 101 (2003), 53–59).   相似文献

It has been known for a long time that the Deligne–Lusztig curves associated to the algebraic groups of type and defined over the finite field all have the maximum number of -rational points allowed by the Weil “explicit formulas”, and that these curves are -maximal curves over infinitely many algebraic extensions of . Serre showed that an -rational curve which is -covered by an -maximal curve is also -maximal. This has posed the problem of the existence of -maximal curves other than the Deligne–Lusztig curves and their -subcovers, see for instance Garcia (On curves with many rational points over finite fields. In: Finite Fields with Applications to Coding Theory, Cryptography and Related Areas, pp. 152–163. Springer, Berlin, 2002) and Garcia and Stichtenoth (A maximal curve which is not a Galois subcover of the Hermitan curve. Bull. Braz. Math. Soc. (N.S.) 37, 139–152, 2006). In this paper, a positive answer to this problem is obtained. For every q = n 3 with n = p r  > 2, p ≥ 2 prime, we give a simple, explicit construction of an -maximal curve that is not -covered by any -maximal Deligne–Lusztig curve. Furthermore, the -automorphism group Aut has size n 3(n 3 + 1)(n 2 − 1)(n 2 − n + 1). Interestingly, has a very large -automorphism group with respect to its genus . Consider G=Z 22 as the group generated by two commuting involutions, and let be a smooth G-action on a smooth and closed manifold M. Suppose that the fixed point set of Φ consists of two connected components, F n and F n-1, with dimensions n and n−1, respectively. In this paper we prove that, if in the fixed data of Φ at least two eigenbundles over F n have dimension greater than n, and at least one eigenbundle over F n-1 has dimension greater than n−1, then the action (M,Φ) bounds equivariantly. It is well known that, if is a smooth involution on a smooth and closed m-dimensional manifold M m such that the fixed point set of T has constant dimension n, and if m > 2n, then (M m ,T) bounds equivariantly; this fact was proved by R. E. Stong and C. Kosniowski 27 years ago. As a consequence of our result, we will see that the same fact is true when, besides n-dimensional components, the fixed point set contains additional (n−1)-dimensional components.  相似文献

Let n,p and k be three non negative integers. We prove that the apparently rational fractions of q:
are actually polynomials of q with non negative integer coefficients. This generalizes a recent result of Lassalle (Ann. Comb. 6(3–4), 399–405, 2002), in the same way as the classical q-binomial coefficients refine the ordinary binomial coefficients.   相似文献
