A comb-like copolymer consisting of a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene) backbone and poly(hydroxy ethyl acrylate) side chains, i.e. P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PHEA, was synthesized through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using CTFE units as a macroinitiator. Successful synthesis and a microphase-separated structure of the copolymer were confirmed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), FT-IR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). This comb-like polymer was crosslinked with 4,5-imidazole dicarboxylic acid (IDA) via the esterification of the –OH groups of PHEA and the –COOH groups of IDA. Upon doping with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) to form imidazole–H3PO4 complexes, the proton conductivity of the membranes continuously increased with increasing H3PO4 content. A maximum proton conductivity of 0.015 S/cm was achieved at 120 °C under anhydrous conditions. In addition, these P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PHEA/IDA/H3PO4 membranes exhibited good mechanical properties (765 MPa of Young's modulus), and high thermal stability up to 250 °C, as determined by a universal testing machine (UTM) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively.  相似文献

The solid proton conductor, phosphatoantimonic acid, HSbP2O8 · H2O was prepared by ion exchange of the corresponding potassium salt. The composite membranes of SPEEK with up to 40 wt% of HSbP2O8 · H2O were prepared by introducing the solid proton conductor from the aqueous suspension. The composite membranes were characterized using FT-IR, powder X-ray diffraction, SEM, DSC/TGA. Thermal stability of the composite membranes was slightly lower than that of SPEEK. The composite membranes had higher water uptake when compared with SPEEK and the membranes exhibited controlled swelling up to 50 °C. The proton conductivity of the membranes was measured under 100% relative humidity up to 70 °C. The composite membranes showed enhanced proton conductivity up to 20 wt% of HSbP2O8 · H2O and the conductivity was reduced with further increase of HSbP2O8 · H2O loading. A maximum of four-fold increase in proton conductivity at 70 °C was observed for the composite membrane with 20 wt% of solid proton conductor.  相似文献

A new anhydrous proton conducting material based on polyimide and phosphoric acid composite was prepared. The interaction between polyimide (PI) and phosphoric acid was investigated by FTIR. The results show that phosphoric acid interacts with polyimides mainly by hydrogen bonds rather than by protonation of PI at room temperature. Environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) was employed to study the surface morphology of the membranes. The results show that the surface of PI-xH3PO4 membranes is very compact and homogeneous. Proton conductivity and methanol permeability of PI doped with phosphoric acid (PI-xH3PO4) were also studied. Proton conductivity of PI-xH3PO4 membranes increases with increasing concentration of phosphoric acid. Hydrogen bond seems to play an important role in the proton conductivity of this system. Effects of osmotic on the direct diffusion process of methanol in the membranes can be negligible due to the absence of micro-pore structure as already shown in ESEM results. Effects of methanol concentration and temperature on the methanol permeability of PI-xH3PO4 membranes were also discussed. Methanol permeability in PI-xH3PO4 membranes decreases with increasing methanol concentration, and increases with increasing temperature.  相似文献

A series of poly(aryl ether benzimidazole) copolymers bearing different aryl ether linkage contents were synthesized by condensation polymerization in polyphosphoric acid (PPA) by varying the feed ratio of 4,4′-dicarboxydiphenyl ether (DCPE) to terephthalic acid (TA). As the ether unit content in the copolymer increased, the solubility of the copolymer in PPA and N,N′-dimethylacetamide/LiCl improved. For example 3–7 wt.% DMAc solution containing 2 wt.% of LiCl could be prepared from the copolymers. XRD studies revealed that the incorporation of flexible aryl ether linkages increased the chain d-spacings of the polymer backbones and decreased the crystallinity of the copolymers. Still, these copolymers having ether linkages showed reasonably good thermal/mechanical stability and high proton conductivity. For example, the copolymer with 30 mol% ether linkage had a tensile strength of 43 MPa (at 26 °C and 40% relative humidity) at an acid doping level of 7.5 mol H3PO4 and a proton conductivity of 0.098 S cm−1 (at 180 °C and 0% relative humidity) at an acid doping level of 6.6 mol H3PO4.  相似文献

Highly proton-conductive elastic composites have been successfully prepared from H3PO4-doped silica gel and a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) block elastic copolymer. Ionic conductivities of the composites depended on the concentration of H3PO4 and the heat treatment temperature of the H3PO4-doped silica gel. It was found that H3PO4 added is present mainly as free orthophosphoric acid in the silica gel. The composite composed of H3PO4-doped silica gel with a molar ratio of H3PO4/SiO2 = 0.5 heat-treated at temperatures below 200°C and SEBS elastomer in 5 mass% showed a high conductivity of 10–5 S cm–1 at 25°C in an dry N2 atmosphere. The water adsorption during a storage in 25% relative humidity at room temperature for 1 day enhanced the ionic conductivities of composites by about one order of magnitude. Lower conductivities obtained in the composite with the H3PO4-doped silica gel heat-treated at 250°C for 1 h were due to the formation of crystalline Si3(PO4)4. The temperature dependence of conductivity of the composites was the Vogel-Tamman-Fulcher type, indicating that proton was transferred through a liquidlike phase formed in micropores of the H3PO4-doped silica gels. The temperature dependence of the modulus of the composite was similar to that of the SEBS elastomer. The thermoplastically deforming temperature of the composite was around 100°C, which was higher by 30°C than that of the SEBS elastomer.  相似文献

Proton conducting polymer membranes have become crucial due their applications in fuel cells as source of clean energy. In this work, we synthesized poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) by conventional free radical polymerization of GMA using azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator. PGMA was modified with 5-aminotetrazole by ring opening of the epoxide group. The composition of the polymer was studied by elemental analysis (EA) and the structures were characterized by FT-IR and solid 13C NMR spectra. Thermogravimetry analysis (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were employed to examine the thermal stability and homogeneity of the materials, respectively. Polymers were doped with H3PO4 at several stoichometric ratios. The effect of doping on the proton conductivity was studied via impedance spectroscopy. Maximum proton conductivity of acid-doped PGMA-aminotetrazole was found to be 0.01 S/cm at 150 °C in the anhydrous state.  相似文献

For the first time a fluorinated polyoxadiazole doped with phosphoric acid as a proton-conducting membrane for operation at temperatures above 100 °C and low humidities for fuel cells has been reported. Fluorinated polyoxadiazole with remarkable chemical stability was synthesized. No changes in the molecular weight (about 200,000 g mol−1) can be observed when the polymer is exposed for 19 days to mixtures of sulfuric acid and oleum. Protonated membranes with low doping level (0.34 mol of phosphoric acid per polyoxadiazole unit, 11.6 wt.% H3PO4) had proton conductivity at 120 °C and RH = 100% in the order of magnitude of 10−2 S cm−1. When experiments are conducted at lower external humidity, proton conductivity values drop an order of magnitude. However still a high value of proton conductivity (6 × 10−3 S cm−1) was obtained at 150 °C and with relative humidity of 1%. In an effort to increase polymer doping, nanocomposite with sulfonated silica containing oligomeric fluorinated-based oxadiazole segments has also been prepared. With the addition of functionalized silica not only doping level but also water uptake increased. For the nanocomposite membranes prepared with the functionalized silica higher proton conductivity in all range of temperature up to 120 °C and RH = 100% (in the order of magnitude of 10−3 S cm−1) was observed when compared to the plain membrane (in the order of magnitude of 10−5 S cm−1).  相似文献

In present work, hollow silica spheres (HSS)/Nafion® composite membranes were prepared by solution casting. The thermal properties, water retention, swelling behavior and proton conductivity of the composite membranes were explored. It was found that HSS dispersed well at micrometer scale in the obtained composite membranes by SEM and TEM observation. Thermal properties of composite membranes were improved than that of recast Nafion® membrane. Compared with the recast Nafion® membrane, the composite membranes showed higher water uptake and lower swelling degree at the temperature range from 40 to 100 °C. At the same HSS loading, the smaller the diameter of HSS in composite membranes, the more the water uptake, however, the swelling degree of composite membranes was increased. The proton conductivity of the composite membrane with 3–5 wt.% HSS (120 and 250 nm) increased distinctively at above 60 °C, reached the optimal value at 100 °C, and decreased slowly when the temperature exceeded 100 °C.  相似文献

Proton-conducting membranes based on phosphotungstic acid (PWA) and 3-glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) was investigated as the electrolyte for low temperature H2/O2 fuel cell. Parameters determining the conductivity and elastic modulus of the membranes were characterized by thermogravimetry/differential thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopic measurements. The composite containing 5% of PWA exhibited an elastic modulus below 100 MPa at room temperature and a high proton conductivity of 1.0 × 10−2 S/cm at 80 °C and 100% RH. Low elastic modulus of the membrane was found to be useful for both the reduction of the membrane thickness and the better contact with the electrodes. The performance of the membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) was systematically studied as an effect of preparation conditions. A maximum power density of 45 mW/cm2 and the current density of 175 mA/cm2 at 0.2 V were achieved at 90 °C and 100% RH for the membrane of 5PWA·95GPTMS composition and 0.2 mm thickness.  相似文献

To increase the solubility and film forming ability of polybenzimidazole (PBI), poly(N‐methylbenzimidazole) (PNMBI) with different degrees of methylation was synthesized. Chemical structure, degree of substitution, and solubility of PNMBI was studied. PNMBI is easier to be doped with acid than PBI. The basicity of PNMBI was improved with the introduction of methyl groups on the imidazole moiety. Effects of methylation degree, H3PO4 content and temperature on proton conductivity of PNMBI doped H3PO4 was studied. Proton conductivity of H3PO4 doped PNMBI‐1.2 membranes increases with increasing doping level. Temperature dependence of proton conductivity of H3PO4 doped PNMBI‐1.2 membranes follows the Arrhenius law. With an increase in the degree of substitution, proton conductivity of H3PO4 doped PNMBI decreases dramatically. The proton transport mechanism was also discussed. The proton conductivity of PNMBI/H3PO4 is mainly contributed by proton hopping or Grotthuss mechanism. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The composite electrolytes of composition (1 ? x)TaH(PO4)2 · 2H2O/xSiO2 (x = 0.2–0.4) are synthesized, and their transport properties are characterized over a wide temperature range. Doping with highly dispersed silica only insignificantly changes the proton conductivity of tantalum hydrogenphosphate below 370 K; above 820 K, the conductivity increases. The evolution of the phase composition of TaH(PO4)2 · 2H2O and its base materials during thermolysis is studied.  相似文献

A-site substituted cerium orthovanadates, Ce1−xSrxVO4, were synthesised by solid-state reactions. It was found that the solid solution limit in Ce1−xSrxVO4 is at x=0.175. The crystal structure was analysed by X-ray diffraction and it exhibits a tetragonal zircon structure of space group I41/amd (1 4 1) with a=7.3670 (3) and c=6.4894 (1) Å for Ce0.825Sr0.175VO4. The UV-vis absorption spectra indicated that the compounds have band gaps at room temperature in the range 4.5-4.6 eV. Conductivity measurements were performed for the first time up to the strontium solid solution limit in air and in dry 5% H2/Ar with conductivity values at 600 °C ranging from 0.3 to 30 mS cm−1 in air to 30-45 mS cm−1 in reduced atmosphere. Sample Ce0.825Sr0.175VO4 is redox stable at a temperature below 600 °C although the conductivity is not high enough to be used as an electrode for solid oxide fuel cells.  相似文献

Composite solid electrolytes in the system (1 − x)LiNO3-xAl2O3, with x = 0.0-0.5 were synthesized by sol-gel method. The synthesis carried out at low temperature resulted in voluminous and fluffy products. The obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and AC impedance spectroscopy. Structural analysis of the samples showed base centred cell type of point lattice of LiNO3 for the composite samples with x = 0.1-0.2 and body centred cell for the sample with x = 0.3. A trace amount of α-LiAlO2 crystal phase was also present in these composite samples. The thermal analysis showed that the samples were in a stable phase between 48 °C and 230-260 °C. Morphological analysis indicated the presence of amorphous phase and particles with sizes ranging from micro to nanometre scale for the composite sample with x = 0.1. The conductivities of the composites were in the order of 10−3 and 10−2 S cm−1 at room temperature and 150 °C, respectively.  相似文献

A new phase, Li4VO(PO4)2 was synthesized by a lithium ion exchange reaction from protonic phase, VO(H2PO4)2. The structure was determined from neutron and synchrotron powder diffraction data. The exchange of lithium causes a stress, leading to a change in the dimensionality of the structure from 3D to 2D by the displacement of oxygen atoms. Thus, Li4VO(PO4)2 crystallizes in P4/n space group with lattice parameters a=8.8204(1) Å and c=8.7614(2) Å. It consists of double layers [V2P4O18] formed by successive chains of VO6 octahedra and VO5 pyramids with isolated PO4 tetrahedra. The lithium ions located in between the layers promote mobility. Furthermore, the ionic conductivity of 10−4 S/cm at 550 °C for Li4VO(PO4)2 confirms the mobility of lithium ions in the layers. On the other hand, VO(H2PO4)2 exhibits a conductivity of 10−4 S/cm at room temperature due to the presence of protons in tunnels.  相似文献

The heat capacity investigation of crystalline pentasodium zirconium tris(phosphate) was carried out in a vacuum adiabatic calorimeter between 7 and 340 K and in a differential scanning calorimeter of the heat bridge type between 330 and 620 K. Between 389 and 424 K, an isostructural solid-to-solid phase transition of Na5Zr(PO4)3, has been found, the nature of which is connected with a centering of off-centered zirconium atoms in octahedral sites and an occupation transfer between sodium sites in the structure. The results were used to calculate the characteristics of the phase transition and the thermodynamic functions of Na5Zr(PO4)3: the transition temperature T°trs, enthalpy of transition ΔtrsH°, entropy of transition ΔtrsS°; enthalpy H°(T)−H°(0), entropy S°(T) and Gibbs function G°(T)−H°(0) over the range from 0 to 620 K. From hydrofluoric acid solution microcalorimetry, the enthalpy of solution of Na5Zr(PO4)3 at 298.15 K has been determined and the standard enthalpy of formation has been derived. By combining the data obtained by the two techniques, the Gibbs function of formation of Na5Zr(PO4)3 at 298.15 K has been calculated.  相似文献

Proton exchange reactions have been performed on tetragonal tungsten bronze-like NaNbWO6 by using nitric acid as an exchanging agent. The characterization of the exchange reaction products has been made by means of chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and IR spectroscopy. The exchange reaction takes place topotactically and the following formula is proposed for the obtained phase of variable composition: Na1−xHxNbWO6·yH2O (0<x?0.46 and 0?y?0.12). Impedance spectroscopy on the present proton exchanged samples indicated that these samples behaved as solid electrolytes under high humidity. As an example, the compound with the composition Na0.68H0.32NbWO6·0.1 H2O exhibits ionic conductivity of 8×10−3 and 1×10−2 S cm−1 at 70°C and 90°C, respectively.  相似文献

In this study we present results of the conductivity and resistance to thermooxidative and condensation reactions of a highly phosphonated poly(pentafluorostyrene) (PWN2010) and of its blends with poly(benzimidazole)s (PBI). This polymer, which combines both: (i) a high degree of phosphonation (above 90%) and (ii) a relatively high acidity (pKa (–PO3H2 ↔ –PO3H) ∼ 0.5) due to the fluorine neighbors, is designed for low humidity operating fuel cell. This was confirmed by the conductivity measurements for PWN2010 reaching σ = 5 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 150 °C in dry N2 and σ = 1 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 150 °C (λ = 0.75). Furthermore, this polymer showed only 48% of anhydride formation when annealing it at T = 250 °C for 5 h and only 2% weight loss during a 96 h Fenton test. These properties combined with the ability of the PWN2010 to form homogeneous blends with polybenzimidazoles resulting in stable and flexible polymer films, makes PWN2010 a very promising candidate as a polymer electrolyte for intermediate- and high-temperature fuel cell applications.  相似文献

Nafion/sulfonated poly(phenylmethyl silsesquioxane) (sPPSQ) composite membranes are fabricated using homogeneous dispersive mixing and a solvent casting method for direct dimethyl ether fuel cell (DDMEFC) applications operated above 100 °C. The inorganic conducting filler, sPPSQ significantly affects the characteristics in the nanocomposite membranes by functionalization with an organic sulfonic acid to PPSQ. Moreover, sPPSQ content plays an important role in membrane properties such as microstructure, proton conductivity, fuel crossover, and single cell performance test. With increasing sPPSQ content in the nanocomposite membrane, the proton conductivity increased and fuel crossover decreased. However, in a higher temperature range above 110 °C, Nafion/sPPSQ 5 wt.% composite membrane has the highest proton conductivity. Also, the DME permeability for the composite membrane with higher sPPSQ content increased sharply. The excessive sPPSQ content caused a large aggregation of inorganic fillers, leading to the deterioration of membrane properties. In this study, the optimal sPPSQ content for maximizing the DDMEFC performance was 5 wt.%. Our nanocomposite membranes demonstrated proton conductivities as high as 1.57 × 10−1 S/cm at 120 °C, which is higher than that of Nafion. The cell performances were compared to Nafion/sPPSQ composite membrane with Nafion 115, and the composite membrane with sPPSQ yielded better cell performance than Nafion 115 at temperatures ranging from 100 to 120 °C and at pressures from 1 to 2 bar.  相似文献

Phosphosilicate doped with a mixture of phosphotungstic acid and zirconium oxide (PWA/ZrO2–P2O2–SiO2) was investigated as potential glass composite membranes for use as H2/O2 fuel cell electrolytes. The glass membranes were studied with respect to their structural and thermal properties, proton conductivity, pore characteristics, hydrogen permeability, and performance in fuel cell tests. Thermal analysis including TG and DTA confirmed that the glass was thermally stable up to 400 °C. The dependence of the conductivity on the humidity was discussed based on the PWA content in the glass composite membranes. The proton transfer in the nanopores of the PWA/ZrO2–P2O5–SiO2 glasses was investigated and it was found that a glass with a pore size of ∼3 nm diameters was more appropriate for fast proton conduction. The hydrogen permeability rate was calculated at various temperatures, and was found to be comparatively higher than for membranes based on Nafion®. The performance of a membrane electrolyte assembly (MEA) was influenced by its PWA content; a power density of 43 mW/cm2 was obtained at 27 °C and 30% relative humidity for a PWA/ZrO2–P2O5–SiO2 glass membrane with a composition of 6–2–5–87 mol% and 0.2 mg/cm2 of Pt/C loaded on the electrode.  相似文献

Misfit-type Ca3−xLaxCo4O9+δ (x=0, 0.3) oxides were synthesised to be evaluated as possible cathode materials for proton conducting fuel cells (PCFCs) based on BaCe0.9Y0.1O3−δ (BCY10) dense ceramic electrolyte. The electrical conductivity value of Ca2.7La0.3Co4O9+δ (σ≈53 S cm-1 at 600 °C) is in the range of usually required value for a cathode application (about 50-100 S cm-1). In order to test the performance of each compound as cathode material, impedance measurements were carried out on Ca3−xLaxCo4O9+δ/BaCe0.9Y0.1O3−δ/Ca3−xLaxCo4O9+δ symmetrical half cells over the temperature range 400-800 °C under wet air. A promising electrocatalytic activity has been observed with both compounds Ca3Co4O9+δ and Ca2.7La0.3Co4O9+δ. Factually, the area specific resistance obtained was about 2.2 Ω cm2 at 600 °C.  相似文献
