The dynamical instability of many-body systems can best be characterized through the local Lyapunov spectrum {}, its associated eigenvectors {}, and the time-averaged spectrum {}. Each local Lyapunov exponent describes the degree of instability associated with a well-defined direction—given by the associated unit vector —in the full many-body phase space. For a variety of hard-particle systems it is by now well-established that several of the vectors, all with relatively-small values of the time-averaged exponent , correspond to quite well-defined long-wavelength modes. We investigate soft particles from the same viewpoint here, and find no convincing evidence for corresponding modes. The situation is similar—no firm evidence for modes—in a simple two-dimensional lattice-rotor model. We believe that these differences are related to the form of the time-averaged Lyapunov spectrum near =0.  相似文献

No Heading The interplay between the tracial property and minimality of dispersions of states on projections of von Neumann algebras and C*-algebras is investigated. Let be a state on a C*-algebra A with the projection structure P(A). The dispersion () is defined as () = sup{(p) – (p)2 | p P(A)}. It is proved that () 2/9 whenever is a state on a real rank zero C*-algebra with no nonzero abelian representation. New characterization of traces in terms of dispersions is proved: A state on a von Neumann algebra without abelian and Type I2 direct summands is a trace if and only if has the minimal dispersion on all 3x3 matrix substructures. A similar characterization of semifinite normal traces on von Neumann algebras is obtained. The connection between unitary invariance of states and minimal dispersion property on C*-algebras is studied. Besides providing a new characterization of trace in terms of physically relevant properties, the existing results on hidden variables in W*- and C*-formalism of quantum mechanics are strengthen.  相似文献

In this article I present some material of a forthcoming book with the titleQuantum Measures and Spaces. The main theme are generalizations of Gleason's theorem and spaces in which quantum measures exist. Characterizations of such spaces and classifications of their measures are given. The book will contain some supplementary results from the orthomodular theory under the heading Miscellaneous. It is a sequel to the bookMeasures and Hilbert Lattices of the same author.  相似文献

The paper gives a critical discussion of the procedures for extracting from the +SR signals obtainable on magnetically ordered metals information on + sites, on local lattice distortions induced by the +, on the local magnetic fields felt by the +, and on quantum diffusion. Results for-Fe are: + occupy O sites, the tetragonality of the elastic double-force tensor isA–B 2eV, the dipolar magnetic field acting on the + isB dip=(0.66±0.02)T. Using this information + hopping rates and diffusivities in Fe are deduced and compared with diffusivities obtained for hydrogen and deuterium. From this it is concluded that hydrogen in Fe diffuses via the adiabatic mechanism. In addition, the paper contains a brief summary of the theoretical background required for taking advantage of the rather large ¦A B¦ values expected for + at O sites in bcc metals in order to gain information on the effects of energy asymmetries between neighbouring + sites on the + hopping rates.  相似文献

We illustrate the mechanism producing the dipole phase in a two dimensional Coulomb system by a detailed analysis of a hierarchical model. We prove the analyticity of the pressure and of the correlations for 2e 2>8 (i.e. right above the usually conjectured value for the Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition). We use the methods of [1] to show that the planar part of the renormalized perturbation theory for 4 4 -euclidean field theory is Borel-summable on the asymptotically free side of the theory. The Borel sum can therefore be taken as a rigorous definition of theN limit of a massiveN×N matrix model with a +trg 4 interaction, hence with wrong sign ofg. Our construction is relevant for a solution of the ultra-violet problem for planar QCD. We also propose a program for studying the structure of the renormalons singularities within the planar world.  相似文献

In the temperature range T = 5–295 K, the spectralluminescent properties and curves of thermostimulated luminescence (TSL) of molecules of triphenylamine (TPA), trirtolylamine (TTA), triranisolamine (TAA), and N,N'diphenylbis(3methylphenyl)(1,1'biphenyl)4,4'diamine (TPD) in polystyrene and 4Brpolystyrene matrices have been investigated. It has been found that photoirradiation at room temperature in the region of the lowest electron transition of molecules leads to a decrease in the intensities of the luminescence, photoluminescence, and TSL bands, as well as to the formation of new deep traps for charge carriers. At equal irradiation doses these changes in TPD are noticeably less pronounced than in TPA, TTA, and TAA. The higher photochemical stability of TPD molecules compared to TPA, TTA, and TAA is attributed to the difference in the mechanisms of nonradiative deactivation of the triplet states of molecules.  相似文献

The rôle of the evaluation map in anomaly calculations for field theory, sigma-models and strings is investigated. In this paper, anomalies in field theory (with and without a backgrounds connection), are obtained as pull-backs of suitable forms via evaluation maps. The cohomology of the group of gauge transformations is computed in terms of the cohomology of the base manifold and of the cohomology of the structure group. This allows us to clarify the different topological significance of gauge and gravitational anomalies. The relation between locality and universality is discussed and local cohomology is linked to the cohomology of classifying spaces. The problem of combining the locality requirement and the index theorem approach to anomalies is also examined. A dependence is investigated of the absorption coefficient of atmospheric water vapor on absolute air humidity in the spectral intervals =11.1+12.0 and 13.2+14.3 cm–1 by a radiospectrometer with a multipass vacuum cell. Measurements are carried out in the humidity range 3+23 g/m3 at 140 m length of the optical path.Parts of the absorption coefficient linearly and quadratically depending on have been separately defined from the experimental data. In particular, it has been obtained for the centers of transparency windows: (=0.73mm) [dB/km]=1.68 (±0.08) +0.019 (±0.004) 2, (=0.88 mm) [dB/km]=0.83 (±0.06) +0.013 (±0.002) 2. The given values correspond to the temperature of 306 K and the pressure of dry air of 735 Torr.A comparison is made between our results and theoretical calculations and data of other measurements.  相似文献

Recent experimental work at the AGS dealing with unusual nuclear excitations is summarized. Three examples are given: the deexcitation of A hypernuclei by transitions, the production of A hypernuclei by the (+, K+) reaction, and the search for -nuclear excitations. The paper contains an interpretation of the domain patterns found on iron whiskers. An explanation of the closure structure at the end of a whisker grown in the [111] direction is given on the basis of a quantitative analysis. Structures, which form on whiskers strained by axial pressure and bending, are also dealt with. The results are in good agreement with experiment.

The paper explains the theory of modelling electrostatic fields by a resistance network. The conditions, which the resistance network must satisfy, are derived and the question of modelling electrodes of different shapes is solved. The finished network and the results obtained on it when modelling a jet for a linear h-f accelerator of electrons are described. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a space charge, the modelling of which is an advantage of this method.

The absorption spectra of n- and p-type GaAs bombarded with 2-MeV electrons at T=300K were studied in the spectral range from 0.2 eV to Eg. It was found that shallow radiation-defect levels Ec – 0.01 eV and Ec + (0.06–0.1) eV were formed. We have carried out a systematic investigation of the mechanisms for solid-solution hardening by nitrogen atoms and dispersion hardening by nitride particles in single crystals of austenitic stainless steels with different stacking fault (SF) energies SF=0.02–0.2 J/m2. We show that alloying with nitrogen CN=0–0.7 mass % and precipitation of dispersed particles leads to the appearance of an orientation dependence of the critical shearing stresses cr, asymmetry phenomena, an orientation dependence of the slip and twinning deformation mechanisms, superelasticity, and transition from ductile fracture to brittle fracture. We develop dislocation models for solid-solution hardening by interstitial atoms, the orientation dependence and the asymmetry of cr, based on taking into account the effect of the external stress field on the splitting of a/2110 dislocations into partial Schockley a/6211 dislocations and the change in the position of the interstitial atoms from octahedral interstitial sites to tetrahedral sites with a shift of the twinning a/6211 dislocations by a Burgers vector. Generalizing the case of the usual harmonic oscillator, we look for Bargmann representations corresponding to deformed harmonic oscillators. Deformed harmonic oscillator algebras are generated by four operators a, a , N and the unity 1 such as [a, N] = a, [a , N] = –a , a a = (N) and aa = (N + 1). We discuss the conditions of existence of a scalar product expressed with a true integral on the space spanned by the e igenstates of a (or a ). We consider the Ginsburg-Landau equation for a complex scalar field in one dimension and consider initial data which have two different stationary solutions as their limits in space asx±.
