On Finite Groups with Some Semi Cover-Avoiding Subgroups

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to have the semi-cover-avoiding property in G if there is a chief series of G such that H covers or avoids every chief factor of the series. In this paper, some new results are obtained based on the assumption that some subgroups have the semi-cover-avoiding property in the group.

On Approximation of Laplacian Eigenproblem over a Regular Hexagon with Zero Boundary Conditions

In my earlier paper [4], an eigen-decompositions of the Laplacian operator is given on a unit regular hexagon with periodic boundary conditions. Since an exact decomposition with Dirichlet boundary conditions has not been explored in terms of any elementary form.In this paper, we investigate an approximate eigen-decomposition. The function space,corresponding all eigenfunction, have been decomposed into four orthogonal subspaces.Estimations of the first eight smallest eigenvalues and related orthogonal functions are given. In particulary we obtain an approximate value of the smallest eigenvalue λ1～29/40π^2= 7.1555, the absolute error is less than 0.0001.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript>p</Superscript> approximation by general Bernstein-Durrmeyer operator defined on simplex

As a generalization of the Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators defined on the simplex, a class of general Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators is introduced. With the weighted moduli of smoothness as a metric, we prove a strong direct theorem and an inverse theorem of weak type for these operators by using a decomposition way. An approximation method to estimate the Hausdorff measure of the Sierpinski gasket

In this paper, we firstly define a decreasing sequence {P^n(S)} by the generation of the Sierpinski gasket where each P^n(S) can be obtained in finite steps. Then we prove that the Hausdorff measure H^8(S) of the Sierpinski gasket S can be approximated by {P^n(S)} with P^n(S)/(1 1/2^n-3)s ≤ H^8(S)≤ Pb(S).An algorithm is presented to get P^n(S) for n≤ 5. As an application, we obtain the best lower bound of H^8(S) till now: H^8(S) ≥ 0.5631.     

Adaptive Algorithms of Nonlinear Approximation with Finite Terms

This paper deals with realizable adaptive algorithms of the nonlinear approximation with finite terms based on wavelets. We present a concrete algorithm by which we may find the required index set Am for the greedy algorithm Gm^P（., Ψ）. This makes the greedy algorithm realize the near best approximation in practice. Moreover, we study the efficiency of the finite-term approximation of another Mgorithm introduced by Birge and Massart.

An Extension Landau-Lifshitz Model in Studying Soft Ferromagnetic Films

In this paper, we propose a model in studying soft ferromagnetic films, which is readily accessible experimentally. By using penalty approximation and compensated compactness, we prove that the dynamical equation in thin film has a local weak solution. Moreover, the corresponding linear equation is also dealt with in great detail.     

HYERS-ULAM-RASSIAS STABILITY FOR A MULTIVALUED ITERATIVE EQUATION

Because multifunctions do not have so good properties as single-valued functions, only the existence of solutions of the polynomial-like iterative equation of order 2 is discussed for multi functions. This article gives conditions for its Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability. As a consequence, the authors obtain its Hyers-Ulam stability and prove that the equation has a unique multivalued solution near an approximate multivalued solution.     

THE GENERALIZED REFLEXIVE SOLUTION FOR A CLASS OF MATRIX EQUATIONS （AX- B, XC- D）

In this article, the generalized reflexive solution of matrix equations （AX = B, XC = D） is considered. With special properties of generalized reflexive matrices, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability and the general expression of the solution are obtained. Moreover, the related optimal approximation problem to a given matrix over the solution set is solved.

Finite element method for some nonlinear integro-differential equations

Abstract. This paper studies the finite element method for some nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations with memory and dampling terms. A Crank-Nicolson approximation for this kind of equations is presented. By using the elliptic Ritz Volterra projection,the analysis of the error estimates for the finite element numerical solutions and the optimal H1-norm error estimate are demonstrated.     

SOME GENERALIZATIONS OF KY FAN＇S BEST APPROXIMATION THEOREM

We pressent new Ky Fan type best approximation theorems for a discontinuous multivalued map onmetrizable topological vector spaces and hyperconvex spaces. In addition, fixed point results are derivedfor the map studied. Our work generalizes severl results in approximation theory.     

Computing a Nearest P-Symmetric Nonnegative Definite Matrix Under Linear Restriction

Let $P$ be an $n\times n$ symmetric orthogonal matrix. A real $n\times n$ matrix $A$ is called P-symmetric nonnegative definite if $A$ is symmetric nonnegative definite and $(PA)^T=PA$. This paper is concerned with a kind of inverse problem for P-symmetric nonnegative definite matrices: Given a real $n\times n$ matrix $\widetilde{A}$, real $n\times m$ matrices $X$ and $B$, find an $n\times n$ P-symmetric nonnegative definite matrix $A$ minimizing $||A-\widetilde{A}||_F$ subject to $AX =B$. Necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the solvability of the problem. The expression of the solution to the problem is given. These results are applied to solve an inverse eigenvalue problem for P-symmetric nonnegative definite matrices.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">q</Emphasis>-Besselian Frames in Banach Spaces

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of q-Besselian frame and （p, σ）-near Riesz basis in a Banach space, where a is a finite subset of positive integers and 1/p＋1/q = 1 with p 〉 1, q 〉 1, and determine the relations among q-frame, p-Riesz basis, q-Besselian frame and （p, σ）-near Riesz basis in a Banach space. We also give some sufficient and necessary conditions on a q-Besselian frame for a Banach space. In particular, we prove reconstruction formulas for Banach spaces X and X^＊ that if {xn}n=1^∞ C X is a q-Besselian frame for X, then there exists a p-Besselian frame {y＆＊}n=1^∞ belong to X^＊ for X^＊ such that x = ∑n=1^∞ yn^＊（x）xn for all x ∈ X, and x^＊ =∑n=1^∞ x^＊（xn）yn^＊ for all x^＊ ∈ X^＊. Lastly, we consider the stability of a q-Besselian frame for the Banach space X under perturbation. Some results of J. R. Holub, P. G. Casazza, O. Christensen and others in Hilbert spaces are extended to Banach spaces.
