For the abstract Volterra integro-differential equation utt ? Nu + ∝?∞t K(t ? τ) u(τ) = 0 in Hilbert space, with prescribed past history u(τ) = U(τ), ? ∞ < τ < 0, and associated initial data u(0) = f, ut(0) = g, we establish conditions on K(t), ? ∞ < t < + ∞ which yield various growth estimates for solutions u(t), belonging to a certain uniformly bounded class, as well as lower bounds for the rate of decay of solutions. Our results are interpreted in terms of solutions to a class of initial-boundary value problems in isothermal linear viscoelasticity.  相似文献

Existence and asymptotic behavior of solutions are given for the equation u′(t) = ?A(t)u(t) + F(t,ut) (t ? 0) and u0 = ? ? C([?r,0]; X)  C. The space X is a Banach space; the family {A(t) ¦ 0 ? t ? T} of unbounded linear operators defined on D(A) ? XX generates a linear evolution system and F: CX is continuous with respect to a fractional power of A(t0) for some t0 ? [0, T].  相似文献

The solution of the initial boundary-value problem u?′ ? ?D2u? + u?Du? = f on (a, b) x(0, T), u?(a, t) = u?(b, t) = 0 and u?(x, 0) = 0 on (a, b), is shown to converge to the solution of the limiting equation as the viscosity tends to zero. Estimates on the rate of convergence are given.  相似文献

By constructing different auxiliary functions and using Hopf’s maximum principle, the sufficient conditions for the blow-up and global solutions are presented for nonlinear parabolic equation ut = ∇(a(u)b(x)c(t)∇u) + f(xuqt) with different kinds of boundary conditions. The upper bounds of the “blow-up time” and the “upper estimates” of global solutions are provided. Finally, some examples are presented as the application of the obtained results.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem for a single conservation law in several space variables. Letting u(x, t) denote the solution with initial data u0, we state necessary and sufficient conditions on u0 so that u(x, t) is locally Lipschitz continuous in the half space {t > 0}. These conditions allow for the preservation of smoothness of u0 as well as for the smooth resolution of discontinuities in u0. One consequence of our result is that u(x, t) cannot be locally Lipschitz unless u0 has locally bounded variation. Another is that solutions which are bounded and locally Lipschitz continuous in {t > 0} automatically have boundary values u0 at t = 0 in the sense that u(·, t) → u0 in Lloc1. Finally, we give an elementary proof that locally Lipschitz solutions satisfy Kruzkov's uniqueness condition.  相似文献

We consider a family {u? (t, x, ω)}, ? < 0, of solutions to the equation ?u?/?t + ?Δu?/2 + H (t/?, x/?, ?u?, ω) = 0 with the terminal data u?(T, x, ω) = U(x). Assuming that the dependence of the Hamiltonian H(t, x, p, ω) on time and space is realized through shifts in a stationary ergodic random medium, and that H is convex in p and satisfies certain growth and regularity conditions, we show the almost sure locally uniform convergence, in time and space, of u?(t, x, ω) as ? → 0 to the solution u(t, x) of a deterministic averaged equation ?u/?t + H?(?u) = 0, u(T, x) = U(x). The “effective” Hamiltonian H? is given by a variational formula. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We consider a parabolic partial differential equation ut = uxx + f(u), where ? ∞ < x < + ∞ and 0 < t < + ∞. Under suitable hypotheses pertaining to f, we exhibit a class of initial data φ(x), ? ∞ < x < + ∞, for which the corresponding solutions u(x, t) approach zero as t → + ∞. This convergence is uniform with respect to x on any compact subinterval of the real axis.  相似文献

We consider semilinear integrodifferential equations of the form u′(t) + A(t) u(t) = ∝0tg(t, s, u(s)) ds + f(t), u(0) = u0. For each t ? 0, the operator A(t) is assumed to be the negative generator of a strongly continuous semigroup in a Banach space X. The domain D(A(t)) of A(t) is allowed to vary with t. Thus our models are Volterra integrodifferential equations of “hyperbolic type.” These types of equations arise naturally in the study of viscoelasticity. Our main results are the proofs of existence, uniqueness, continuation and continuous dependence of the solutions.  相似文献

We study the evolution equation u′(t) = Au(t) + J(u(t)), t ? 0, where etA is a C0 semi-group on a Banach space E, and J is a “singular” non-linear mapping defined on a subset of E. In Sections 1 and 2 of the paper we suppress the map J and instead consider maps Kt: EE, t > 0, which heuristically are just etAJ. Under certain integrability conditions on the Kt we prove existence and uniqueness of local solutions to the integral equation u(t) = etAφ + ∝0tKt ? s(u(s)) ds for all φ in E, and investigate the regularity of the solutions. Conditions which insure existence of global solutions are given. In Section 3 we recover the map J from the maps Kt, and show that the generator of the semi-flow on E induced by the integral equation has dense domain. Finally, we apply these results to a large class of examples which includes polynomial perturbations to elliptic operators on a domain in Rn.  相似文献

The linear non-autonomous evolution equation u′(t) ? A(t) u(t) = ?(t), t ∈ [0, T], with the initial datum u(0) = x, in the space C([0, T], E), where E is a Banach space and {A(t)} is a family of infinitesimal generators of bounded analytic semigroups is considered; the domains D(A(t)) are supposed constant in t and possibly not dense in E. Maximal regularity of the strict and classical solutions, i.e., regularity of u′ and A(·)u(·) with values in the interpolation spaces DA(0)(θ, ∞) and DA(0)(θ) between D(A(0)) and E, is studied. A characterization of such spaces in a concrete case is also given.  相似文献

The paper investigates the structure and properties of the set S of all positive solutions to the singular Dirichlet boundary value problem u″(t) + au′(t)/t ? au(t)/t 2 = f(t, u(t),u′(t)), u(0) = 0, u(T) = 0. Here a ∈ (?,?1) and f satisfies the local Carathéodory conditions on [0,T]×D, where D = [0,∞)×?. It is shown that S c = {uS: u′(T) = ?c} is nonempty and compact for each c ≥ 0 and S = ∪ c≥0 S c . The uniqueness of the problem is discussed. Having a special case of the problem, we introduce an ordering in S showing that the difference of any two solutions in S c ,c≥ 0, keeps its sign on [0,T]. An application to the equation v″(t) + kv′(t)/t = ψ(t)+g(t, v(t)), k ∈ (1,), is given.  相似文献

The initial value problem on [?R, R] is considered: ut(t, x) = uxx(t, x) + u(t, x)γu(t, ±R) = 0u(0, x) = ?(x), where ? ? 0 and γ is a fixed large number. It is known that for some initial values ? the solution u(t, x) exists only up to some finite time T, and that ∥u(t, ·)∥ → ∞ as tT. For the specific initial value ? = , where ψ ? 0, ψxx + ψγ = 0, ψR) = 0, k is sufficiently large, it is shown that if x ≠ 0, then limtTu(t, x) and limtTux(t, x) exist and are finite. In other words, blow-up occurs only at the point x = 0.  相似文献

This paper deals with the construction of analytic-numerical solutions with a priori error bounds for systems of the type ut = Auxx, u(0,t) + ux(0,t) = 0, Bu(1,t) + Cux(1,t) = 0, 0 < x < 1, t > 0, u(x,0) = f(x). Here A, B, C are matrices for which no diagonalizable hypothesis is assumed. First an exact series solution is obtained after solving appropriate vector Sturm-Liouville-type problems. Given an admissible error ε and a bounded subdomain D, after appropriate truncation an approximate solution constructed in terms of data and approximate eigenvalues is given so that the error is less than the prefixed accuracy ε, uniformly in D.  相似文献

We consider the class of equations ut=f(uxx, ux, u) under the restriction that for all a,b,c. We first consider this equation over the unbounded domain ? ∞ < x < + ∞, and we show that very nearly every bounded nonmonotonic solution of the form u(t, x)=?(x?ct) is unstable to all nonnegative and all nonpositive perturbations. We then extend these results to nonmonotonic plane wave solutions u(t, x, y)=?(x?ct) of ut = F(uxx, uxy, ux, uy, u). Finally, we consider the class of equations ut=f(uxx, ux, u) over the bounded domain 0 < x < 1 with the boundary conditions u(t, x)=A at x=0 and u(t, x)=B at x=1, and we find the stability of all steady solutions u(t, x)=?(x).  相似文献

This paper extends a result of Fujita [On the blowing up of solutions to the Cauchy problem for ut = Δu + u1 + a, J. Faculty Science, U. of Tokyo 13 (1966), 109–124] to show that solutions u = u(t, x) for t > 0 and x?R2 to the equation ut = Δu + u2 with u(0, x) = a(x) must grow at a rate faster than exp(∥x2) at some finite time t, as long as a(x) is nonnegative and not almost everywhere zero.  相似文献

In this paper the equation ut = Lu ? F(u) + α(t, ω) is studied, where u(t) ?B0 a Banach space. L is an unbounded self-adjoint negative definite operator. F is a monotone nonlinear potential operator. α(t, ω) is a white noise process on B0. With suitable further restrictions on L and F it is proved that the equation has a unique solution. As t → ∞ the distribution of u(t, ω) approaches a stationary distribution which is calculated explicitly.  相似文献

For functions ? which are continuous and locally Lipschitz the authors define a multi-valued differential Df and prove that if all solutions of the multi-valued differential equation u′ ? Df(u) approach zero as t → ∞, then all solutions x(·) of x′ = ?(x) with small |x(0)| approach zero exponentially as t → ∞. If ? is continuously differentiable, then Df coincides with the (single-valued) Frechet differential of ?. Other results on the asymptotic behavior of solutions of perturbed, multi-valued differential equations are presented.  相似文献

This paper deals with the construction of continuous numerical solutions of mixed problems described by the time-dependent telegraph equation utt + c(t)ut + b(t)u = a(t)uxx, 0 < x < d, t > 0. Here a(t), b(t), and c(t) are positive functions with appropiate additional alternative hypotheses. First, using the separation of variables technique a theoretical series solution is obtained. Then, after truncation using one-step matrix methods and interpolating functions, a continuous numerical solution with a prefixed accuracy in a bounded subdomain is constructed.  相似文献

Let V ?H be real separable Hilbert spaces. The abstract wave equation u′' + A(t)u = g(u), where u(t) ?V, A(t) maps V to its dual V1, and g is a nonlinear map from the ball S(R0) = {u?V: ∥u∥ < R0} into H, is considered. It is assumed that g is locally Lipschitz in S(R0) and possibly singular at the boundary. Local existence and continuation theorems are established for the Cauchy problem u(0) = u0?S(R0), u′(0) = u1?H. Global existence is shown for g(u) = εφ(u), where φ has a potential and ε is small. Global nonexistence is shown for g(u) = εφ(u), where φ satisfies an abstract convexity property and ε is large.  相似文献
