Let T be a triangulated category and let X be an object of T. This paper studies the questions: Does there exist a triangulated functor G : D(ℤ)  T with G(ℤ)≌X? Does there exist a triangulated functor H : T  D(ℤ) with h0 ⊚ H ⋍ HomT (X, −)? To what extent are G and H unique? One spin off is a proof that the homotopy category of spectra is not the stable category of any Frobenius category with set indexed coproducts. We introduce a new variant of tight closure and give an interpretation of adjoint ideals via this tight closure. As a corollary, we prove that a log pair (X, Δ) is plt if and only if the modulo p reduction of (X, Δ) is divisorially F-regular for all large p ≫ 0. Here, divisorially F-regular pairs are a class of singularities in positive characteristic introduced by Hara and Watanabe (J Algebra Geom 11:363–392, 2002) in terms of Frobenius splitting. LetXP r be a non-degenerate variety and Γ(X) the closure inX of the set of all pointsP∈X such that the projection ofX fromP is not birational. Here we study the irreducible components of Γ(X), using proofs and ideas contained in a paper by Calabri and Ciliberto concerning the outer non birational projections. Effective algebraic degeneracy   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We show that for every smooth projective hypersurface X⊂ℙ n+1 of degree d and of arbitrary dimension n 2, if X is generic, then there exists a proper algebraic subvariety Y X such that every nonconstant entire holomorphic curve f :ℂ→X has image f(ℂ) which lies in Y, as soon as its degree satisfies the effective lower bound d\geqslant 2n5d\geqslant 2^{n^{5}} .  相似文献

A logarithmic Gauss curvature flow and the Minkowski problem   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let X0 be a smooth uniformly convex hypersurface and f a postive smooth function in Sn. We study the motion of convex hypersurfaces X(·,t) with initial X(·,0)=θX0 along its inner normal at a rate equal to log(K/f) where K is the Gauss curvature of X(·,t). We show that the hypersurfaces remain smooth and uniformly convex, and there exists θ*>0 such that if θ<θ*, they shrink to a point in finite time and, if θ>θ*, they expand to an asymptotic sphere. Finally, when θ=θ*, they converge to a convex hypersurface of which Gauss curvature is given explicitly by a function depending on f(x).  相似文献

In 1934, Whitney raised the question of how to recognize whether a function f defined on a closed subset X of ℝ n is the restriction of a function of class 𝒞 p . A necessary and sufficient criterion was given in the case n=1 by Whitney, using limits of finite differences, and in the case p=1 by Glaeser (1958), using limits of secants. We introduce a necessary geometric criterion, for general n and p, involving limits of finite differences, that we conjecture is sufficient at least if X has a “tame topology”. We prove that, if X is a compact subanalytic set, then there exists q=q X (p) such that the criterion of order q implies that f is 𝒞 p . The result gives a new approach to higher-order tangent bundles (or bundles of differential operators) on singular spaces. Let (X(t)) be a risk process with reserve-dependent premium rate, delayed claims and initial capital u. Consider a class of risk processes {(X ε (t)): ε > 0} derived from (X(t)) via scaling in a slow Markov walk sense, and let Ψ_ε(u) be the corresponding ruin probability. In this paper we prove sample path large deviations for (X ε (t)) as ε → 0. As a consequence, we give exact asymptotics for log Ψ_ε(u) and we determine a most likely path leading to ruin. Finally, using importance sampling, we find an asymptotically efficient law for the simulation of Ψ_ε(u). A hypersurface x : MS n+1 without umbilic point is called a Möbius isoparametric hypersurface if its Möbius form Φ = ?ρ ?2 i (e i (H) + ∑ j (h ij ? ij )e j (log ρ))θ i vanishes and its Möbius shape operator $ {\Bbb {S}}A hypersurface x : M → S n +1 without umbilic point is called a M?bius isoparametric hypersurface if its M?bius form Φ = −ρ−2 i (e i (H) + ∑ j (h ij Hδ ij )e j (log ρ))θ i vanishes and its M?bius shape operator ? = ρ−1(SHid) has constant eigenvalues. Here {e i } is a local orthonormal basis for I = dx·dx with dual basis {θ i }, II = ∑ ij h ij θ i ⊗θ i is the second fundamental form, and S is the shape operator of x. It is clear that any conformal image of a (Euclidean) isoparametric hypersurface in S n +1 is a M?bius isoparametric hypersurface, but the converse is not true. In this paper we classify all M?bius isoparametric hypersurfaces in S n +1 with two distinct principal curvatures up to M?bius transformations. By using a theorem of Thorbergsson [1] we also show that the number of distinct principal curvatures of a compact M?bius isoparametric hypersurface embedded in S n +1 can take only the values 2, 3, 4, 6. In this paper, firstly we establish the relation theorem between the Maslov-type index and the index defined by C. Viterbo for star-shaped Hamiltonian systems. Then we extend the iteration formula ofC. Viterbo for non-degenerate star-shaped Hamiltonian systems to the general case. Finally we prove that there exist at least two geometrically distinct closed characteristics on any non-degenerate star-shaped compact smooth hypersurface on R2n with n > 1. Here we call a hypersurface non-degenerate, if all the closed characteristics on the given hypersurface together with all of their iterations are non-degenerate as periodic solutions of the corresponding Hamiltonian system. We also study the ellipticity of closed characteristics whenn = 2  相似文献

We describe the attracting basins of the origin in ℂ k+1 for the polynomial lifts of Lattès examples. We show that the boundary of these bounded pseudoconvex domains is a quotient of a compact spherical hypersurface, and we describe the singularities that appear. These domains are surprising, because they are very close to the ball, and admit non injective proper holomorphic self-maps. We also explicit some Lattès examples in dimension 2.  Let be a polynomial dominant mapping and let deg f i d. We prove that the set K(f) of generalized critical values of f is contained in the algebraic hypersurface of degree at most D=(d+s(m−1)(d−1)) n , where . This implies in particular that the set B(f) of bifurcations points of f is contained in the hypersurface of degree at most D=(d+s(m−1)(d−1)) n .  Let K be a field complete for a discrete valuation and with algebraically closed residue field of positive characteristic p. We prove the existence of a non-degenerate pairing between the first (flat) cohomology group of an abelian variety A K over K and the fundamental group of the Néron model of the dual abelian variety. This pairing extends to the p-primary components a pairing introduced by Shafarevich in [16]. We relate this pairing with Grothendieck's pairing. Severi varieties
R. Hartshorne conjectured and F. Zak proved (cf [6,p.9]) that any smooth non-degenerate complex algebraic variety with satisfies denotes the secant variety of X; when X is smooth it is simply the union of all the secant and tangent lines to X). In this article, I deal with the limiting case of this theorem, namely the Severi varieties, defined by the conditions and . I want to give a different proof of a theorem of F. Zak classifying all Severi varieties. F. Zak proves that there exists only four Severi varieties and then realises a posteriori that all of them are homogeneous; here I will work in another direction: I prove a priori that any Severi variety is homogeneous and then deduce more quickly their classification, satisfying R. Lazarsfeld et A. Van de Ven's wish [6, p.18]. By the way, I give a very brief proof of the fact that the derivatives of the equation of Sec(X), which is a cubic hypersurface, determine a birational morphism of . I wish to thank Laurent Manivel for helping me in writing this article. Received in final form: 29 March 2001 / Published online: 1 February 2002  相似文献

Let (X Δ) be a four-dimensional log variety that is projective over the field of complex numbers. Assume that (X, Δ) is not Kawamata log terminal (klt) but divisorial log terminal (dlt). First we introduce the notion of “log quasi-numerically positive”, by relaxing that of “numerically positive”. Next we prove that, if the log canonical divisorK X+Δ is log quasi-numerically positive on (X, Δ) then it is semi-ample.  相似文献

Summary.   Let X,X 1,X 2,… be a sequence of i.i.d. random vectors taking values in a d-dimensional real linear space ℝ d . Assume that E X=0 and that X is not concentrated in a proper subspace of ℝ d . Let G denote a mean zero Gaussian random vector with the same covariance operator as that of X. We investigate the distributions of non-degenerate quadratic forms ℚ[S N ] of the normalized sums S N =N −1/2(X 1+⋯+X N ) and show that
provided that d≥9 and the fourth moment of X exists. The bound ?(N −1) is optimal and improves, e.g., the well-known bound ?(N d /( d +1)) due to Esseen (1945). The result extends to the case of random vectors taking values in a Hilbert space. Furthermore, we provide explicit bounds for Δ N and for the concentration function of the random variable ℚ[S N ]. Griffiths computation of the Hodge filtration on the cohomology of a smooth hypersurface X of degree d in \mathbbPn{\mathbb{P}^n} shows that it has coniveau ≥ c once ndc. The generalized Hodge conjecture (GHC) predicts that the cohomology of X is then supported on a closed algebraic subset of codimension at least c. This is essentially unknown for c ≥ 2. In the case where c = 2, we exhibit a geometric phenomenon in the variety of lines of X explaining the estimate for the coniveau, and show that (GHC) would be implied in this case by the following conjecture on effective cones of cycles of intermediate dimension: Very moving subvarieties have their class in the interior of the effective cone.  相似文献

Let X and Y be two smooth Deligne-Mumford stacks and consider a pair of functions f: X → $ \mathbb{A}^1 $ \mathbb{A}^1 , g:Y → $ \mathbb{A}^1 $ \mathbb{A}^1 . Assuming that there exists a complex of sheaves on X × $ \mathbb{A}^1 $ \mathbb{A}^1 Y which induces an equivalence of D b (X) and D b (Y), we show that there is also an equivalence of the singular derived categories of the fibers f −1(0) and g −1(0). We apply this statement in the setting of McKay correspondence, and generalize a theorem of Orlov on the derived category of a Calabi-Yau hypersurface in a weighted projective space, to products of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in simplicial toric varieties with nef anticanonical class.  相似文献
