We examine two questions regarding Fourier frequencies for a class of iterated function systems (IFS). These are iteration limits arising from a fixed finite families of affine and contractive mappings in Rd, and the “IFS” refers to such a finite system of transformations, or functions. The iteration limits are pairs (X,μ) where X is a compact subset of Rd (the support of μ), and the measure μ is a probability measure determined uniquely by the initial IFS mappings, and a certain strong invariance axiom. The two questions we study are: (1) existence of an orthogonal Fourier basis in the Hilbert space L2(X,μ); and (2) explicit constructions of Fourier bases from the given data defining the IFS.  相似文献

Motivated by the recent work on the non-harmonic Fourier atoms initiated by T. Qian and the non-harmonic Fourier series which originated from the celebrated work of Paley and Wiener, we introduce an integral version of the non-harmonic Fourier series, called Chirp transform. As an integral transform with kernel ei?(t)θ(ω), the Chirp transform is an unitary isometry from L2(R,d?) onto L2(R,dθ) and it can be explicitly defined in terms of generalized Hermite polynomials. The corresponding Chirp series take einθ(t) as a basis which in some sense is dual to the theory of non-harmonic Fourier series which take eiλnt as a basis. The Chirp version of the Shannon sampling theorem and the Poisson summation formula are also considered by dealing with sampling points which may non-equally distributed. Since the Chirp transform interchanges weighted derivatives into multiplications, it plays a role in solving certain differential equations with variable coefficients. In addition, we extend T. Qian's theorem on the characterization of a measure to be a linear combination of a number of harmonic measures on the unit disc with positive integer coefficients to that with positive rational coefficients.  相似文献

This provides a generalization (from the full moment problem to the truncated moment problem) of the Riesz-Haviland theorem. We also show that a semialgebraic set solves the truncated moment problem in terms of natural “degree-bounded” positivity conditions if and only if each polynomial strictly positive on that set admits a degree-bounded weighted sum-of-squares representation.  相似文献

Let fW1,1(Ω,Rn) be a homeomorphism of finite distortion K. It is known that if K1/(n−1)∈L1(Ω), then the Jacobian Jf of f is positive almost everywhere in Ω. We will show that this integrability assumption on K is sharp in any Orlicz-scale: if α is increasing function (satisfying minor technical assumptions) such that limt→∞α(t)=∞, then there exists f such that K1/(n−1)/α(K)∈L1(Ω) and Jf vanishes in a set of positive measure.  相似文献

Let K and L be two full-rank lattices in Rd. We give a complete characterization for all the Gabor frames that admit tight dual of the same type. The characterization is given in terms of the center-valued trace of the von Neumann algebra generated by the left regular projective unitary representations associated with the time-frequency lattice K×L. Two applications of this characterization were obtained: (i) We are able to prove that every Gabor frame has a tight dual if and only if the volume of K×L is less than or equal to . (ii) We are able to obtain sufficient or necessary conditions for the existence of tight Gabor pseudo-duals for subspace Gabor frames in various cases. In particular, we prove that every subspace Gabor frame has a tight Gabor pseudo-dual if either the volume or v(K×L)?2. Moreover, if K=αZd, L=βZd with αβ=1, then a subspace Gabor frame G(g,L,K) has a tight Gabor pseudo-dual only when G(g,L,K) itself is already tight.  相似文献

Let d be a positive integer, and let μ be a finite measure on ? d . In this paper we ask when it is possible to find a subset Λ in ? d such that the corresponding complex exponential functions e λ indexed by Λ are orthogonal and total in L 2(μ). If this happens, we say that (μ,Λ) is a spectral pair. This is a Fourier duality, and the x-variable for the L 2(μ)-functions is one side in the duality, while the points in Λ is the other. Stated this way, the framework is too wide, and we shall restrict attention to measures μ which come with an intrinsic scaling symmetry built in and specified by a finite and prescribed system of contractive affine mappings in ? d ; an affine iterated function system (IFS). This setting allows us to generate candidates for spectral pairs in such a way that the sets on both sides of the Fourier duality are generated by suitably chosen affine IFSs. For a given affine setup, we spell out the appropriate duality conditions that the two dual IFS-systems must have. Our condition is stated in terms of certain complex Hadamard matrices. Our main results give two ways of building higher dimensional spectral pairs from combinatorial algebra and spectral theory applied to lower dimensional systems.  相似文献

The Bernoulli convolution νλ measure is shown to be absolutely continuous with L2 density for almost all , and singular if λ−1 is a Pisot number. It is an open question whether the Pisot type Bernoulli convolutions are the only singular ones. In this paper, we construct a family of non-Pisot type Bernoulli convolutions νλ such that their density functions, if they exist, are not L2. We also construct other Bernoulli convolutions whose density functions, if they exist, behave rather badly.  相似文献

We give a characterization for the weighted irregular Gabor tight frames or dual systems in L2(Rn) in terms of the distributional symplectic Fourier transform of a positive Borel measure on R2n naturally associated with the system and the short-time Fourier transform of the windows in the case where the window (or at least one of the windows in the case of dual systems) belongs to S(Rn). This result implies that, for certain classes of windows such as generalized Gaussians or “extreme-value” windows, the only weighted irregular Gabor tight frames (or even dual systems with both windows in the same class) that can be constructed with these windows are the trivial ones, corresponding to the measure μ=1 on R2n. Furthermore, we show that, if a such Gabor system admits a dual which is of Gabor type, then the Beurling density of the associated measure exists and is equal to one.  相似文献

For a Banach space Y, the question of whether Lp(μ,Y) has an unconditional basis if 1<p<∞ and Y has unconditional basis, stood unsolved for a long time and was answered in the negative by Aldous. In this work we prove a weaker, positive result related to this question. We show that if (yj) is a basis of Y and (di) is a martingale difference sequence spanning Lp(μ) then the sequence (diyj) is a basis of Lp(μ,Y) for 1?p<∞. Moreover, if 1<p<∞ and (yj) is unconditional then (diyj) is strictly dominated by an unconditional tensor product basis. For a compact set KRd we present a rather easy construction of a linear extension operator E:E(K)→C(Rd) for the space of Whitney jets E(K) which satisfies linear tame continuity estimates , where ‖⋅s denotes the s-th Whitney norm. The construction turns out to be possible if and only if the local Markov inequality LMI(s) introduced by Bos and Milman holds for every s>r on K.
