Positive and negatively charged ammonia clusters produced by the impact of (252)Cf fission fragments (FF) on an NH(3) ice target have been examined theoretical and experimentally. The ammonia clusters generated by (252)Cf FF show an exponential dependence of the cluster population on its mass, and the desorption yields for the positive (NH(3))(n)NH(4)(+) clusters are 1 order of magnitude higher than those for the negative (NH(3))(n)NH(2)(-) clusters. The experimental population analysis of (NH(3))(n)NH(4)(+) (n = 0-18) and (NH(3))(n)NH(2)(-) (n = 0-8) cluster series show a special stability at n = 4 and 16 and n = 2, 4, and 6, respectively. DFT/B3LYP calculations of the (NH(3))(0)(-)(8)NH(4)(+) clusters show that the structures of the more stable conformers follow a clear pattern: each additional NH(3) group makes a new hydrogen bond with one of the hydrogen atoms of an NH(3) unit already bound to the NH(4)(+) core. For the (NH(3))(0)(-)(8)NH(2)(-) clusters, the DFT/B3LYP calculations show that, within the calculation error, the more stable conformers follow a clear pattern for n = 1-6: each additional NH(3) group makes a new hydrogen bond to the NH(2)(-) core. For n = 7 and 8, the additional NH(3) groups bind to other NH(3) groups, probably because of the saturation of the NH(2)(-) core. Similar results were obtained at the MP2 level of calculation. A stability analysis was performed using the commonly defined stability function E(n)(-)(1) + E(n)(+1) - 2E(n), where E is the total energy of the cluster, including the zero point correction energy (E = E(t) + ZPE). The trend on the relative stability of the clusters presents an excellent agreement with the distribution of experimental cluster abundances. Moreover, the stability analysis predicts that the (NH(3))(4)NH(4)(+) and the even negative clusters [(NH(3))(n)NH(2)(-), n = 2, 4, and 6] should be the most stable ones, in perfect agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

This paper reports for the first time that under ammonia atmosphere, ammonia borane (AB) reversibly absorbs up to at least 6 equiv of NH(3), forming liquid AB(NH(3))(n) (n = 1-6) complexes at 0 °C. Reasonable structures for AB(NH(3))(n) were identified via density functional theory calculations, which indicate that the strong classical hydrogen bond formed between the lone pair of NH(3) and the -NH(3) of AB is the driving force for the absorption of ammonia by AB. By use of the van't Hoff equation, the enthalpy change (ΔH) for AB to absorb one NH(3) was determined to be -2.24 kcal/mol, which is in good agreement with the theoretical calculations. Other organic amines were screened to further confirm the role of the N lone pair; only 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) formed a stable adduct, which X-ray structural analysis showed was the DABCO-BH(3) species. Finally, Raman spectra of AB(NH(3))(n) were collected, and its unique spectral features are also discussed.  相似文献

Ionization potentials (IPs) of [(CH(3))(2)NH](m)(NH(3))(n)-H hypervalent radical clusters produced by an ArF excimer laser photolysis of dimethylamine (DMA)-ammonia mixed clusters are determined by the photoionization threshold measurements. The IPs of the DMA(1)(NH(3))(n)-H hypervalent radicals decrease rapidly with the number of ammonia up to n=4, and then its decrease rate becomes much slower for n ≥ 5. This trend is very similar to that found for NH(4)(NH(3))(n) clusters. The calculated results on the stable structures and IP as well as the observed IP for DMA(1)(NH(3))(n)-H indicate that the hydrogen atom-localized site is the NH(3) moiety for n=1, while the doubly coordinated DMA-H is favorable for n=2-4, and then 4-fold-coordinated NH(4) is again more stable for n ≥ 5. These changes are consistent with the results on the femtosecond pump-probe experiments of DMA(n)-H clusters. Switching of the hydrogen atom-localized site is ascribed to the instability of DMA-H against a hydrogen-atom dissociation.  相似文献

The interaction between ammonia and the benzene radical cation has been investigated by gas-phase studies of mass selected ion clusters {C(6)H(6)-(NH(3))(n=0-8)}(+) via tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry and through calculations. Experiments show a special stability for the cluster ion that contains four ammonias: {C(6)H(6)(NH(3))(4)}(+). Calculations provide evidence that the first ammonia forms a weak dative bond to the cyclohexadienyl radical cation, {C(6)H(6)-NH(3)}(+), where there is a transfer of electrons from ammonia to benzene. Additional solvating ammonia molecules form stabilizing hydrogen bonds to the ring-bound ammonia {C(6)H(6)-NH(3)}(+).(NH(3))(n), which cause cooperative changes in the structure of the cluster complex. Free ammonia is a weak hydrogen bond donor, but electron transfer from NH(3) to the benzene ring that strengthens the dative bond will increase the hydrogen acidity and the strength of the cluster hydrogen bonds to the added ammonia. A progressive "tightening" of this dative bond is observed upon addition of the first, second, and third ammonia to give a cluster stabilized by three N-(+)H x N hydrogen bonds. This shows that the energetic cost of tightening the dative bond is recovered with dividends in the formation of stable cluster hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

Alkali metal ammonia clusters, in their cationic, neutral, and anionic form, are molecular models for the alkali-ammonia solutions, which have rich variation of phases with the solvated electrons playing an important role. With two s electrons, the Na(-)(NH(3))(n) and Li(-)(NH(3))(n) clusters are unique in that they capture the important aspect of the coupling between two solvated electrons. By first principles calculations, we demonstrate that the two electrons are detached from the metal by n = 10, which produces a cluster with a solvated electron pair in the vicinity of a solvated alkali cation. The coupling of the two electrons leads to either the singlet or triplet state, both of which are stable. They are also quite distinct from the hydrated anionic clusters Na(-)(H(2)O)(n) and Li(-)(H(2)O)(n), in that the solvated electrons are delocalized and widely distributed among the solvent ammonia molecules. The Na(-)(NH(3))(n) and Li(-)(NH(3))(n) series, therefore, provide another interesting type of molecular model for the investigation of solvated electron pairs.  相似文献

The compound [NH4(NH3)4][B(C6H5)4].NH3 (1) was prepared by the reaction of NaB(C(6)H(5))(4) with a proton-charged ion-exchange resin in liquid ammonia. [NH(4)(NH(3))(4)][Ca(NH(3))(7)]As(3)S(6).2NH(3) (2) and [NH4(NH3)4][Ba(NH3)8]As3S6.NH3 (3) were synthesized by reduction of As(4)S(4) with Ca and Ba in liquid ammonia. All ammoniates were characterized by low-temperature single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. They were found to contain the ammine-ammonium complex with the maximal possible number of coordinating ammonia molecules, the [NH4(NH3)4]+ ion. 1 contains a special dimer, the [(NH4(NH3)4)2(mu-NH3)2]2+ ion, which is formed by two[NH4(NH3)4]+ ions linked by two ammonia molecules. The H(3)N-H...N hydrogen bonds in all three compounds range from 1.82 to 2.20 A (DHA = Donor-H...Acceptor angles: 156-178 degrees). In 2 and 3, additional H(2)N-H...S bonds to the thioanions are observed, ranging between 2.49 and 3.00 A (DHA angles: 120-175 degrees). Two parallel phenyl rings of the [B(C(6)H(5))(4)](-) anion in 1 form a pi...pi hydrogen bond (C...C distance, 3.38 A; DHA angles, 82 degrees), leading to a dimeric [B(C6H5)4]2(2-) ion.  相似文献

Proton translocation along ammonia wires is investigated in 7-hydroxyquinoline.(NH(3))(n) clusters, both experimentally by laser spectroscopy and theoretically by Hartree-Fock and density functional (DFT) calculations. These clusters serve as realistic finite-size models for proton transfer along a chain of hydrogen-bonded solvent molecules. In the enol tautomer of 7-hydroxyquinoline (7-HQ), the OH group acts as a proton injection site into the (NH(3))(n)cluster. Proton translocation along a chain of three NH(3) molecules within the cluster can take place, followed by reprotonation of 7-HQ at the quinolinic N atom, forming the 7-ketoquinoline tautomer. Exoergic proton transfer from the OH group of 7-HQ to the closest NH(3) molecule within the cluster giving a zwitterion 7-HQ-.(NH(3))(6)H+ (denoted PT-A) occurs at a threshold cluster size of n = 6 in the DFT calculations and at n = 5 or 6 experimentally. Three further locally stable zwitterion clusters denoted PT-B, PT-B', and PT-C, the keto tautomer, and several transition structures along the proton translocation path were characterized theoretically. Grotthus-type proton-hopping mechanisms occur for three of the proton transfer steps, which have low barriers and are exoergic or weakly endoergic. The step with the highest barrier involves a complex proton transfer mechanism, involving structural reorganization and large-scale diffusive motions of the cluster.  相似文献

An incorporation of ND(3) into protonated ammonia cluster ions NH(4)(+)(NH(3))(n-1) (n=3-9), together with a dissociation of the cluster ions, was observed in the collision of the cluster with ND(3) at collision energies ranging from 0.04 to 1.4 eV in the center-of-mass frame. The branching fractions of the cluster ion species produced in the reactions were obtained as a function of the collision energy. The branching fractions of the incorporation products were successfully explained in terms of the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel (RRK) theory at collision energies lower than the binding energy of the cluster ion. In addition, the internal energy distributions of the parent cluster ions were determined, and found to be in good agreement with those predicted using the evaporative ensemble model. In incorporations at collision energies lower than the binding energy of the cluster ion, all of the collision energy was transferred to the internal energy of the cluster ions; subsequently, an evaporation of ammonia molecules occurred in an equilibrium process after a complete energy redistribution in the clusters. In contrast, at collision energies higher than the binding energy of the cluster ion, a release of an ammonia molecule from the incorporation products occurred in a nonequilibrium process. The transition from the complex mode to the direct mode in the incorporation was observed at collision energies approximately equal to the binding energy. On the other hand, the collision energy dependence of the cross sections for the dissociation and for a nonreactive collision were estimated by a RRK simulation in which the collision energy transfer was interpreted by using the classical hard-sphere collision model. A relationship between reactivity and reaction modes in the collision of NH(4)(+)(NH(3))(4) with ND(3) is discussed via a comparison of the experimental results with the RRK simulation.  相似文献

To understand the autoionization of pure water and the solvation of ammonia in water, we investigated the undissociated and dissociated (ion-pair) structures of (H2O) n and NH3(H2O)n-1 (n = 5, 8, 9, 21) using density functional theory (DFT) and second order Moller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2). The stability, thermodynamic properties, and infrared spectra were also studied. The dissociated (ion-pair) form of the clusters tends to favor the solvent-separated ion-pair of H3O+/NH4+ and OH-. As for the NH3(H2O)20 cluster, the undissociated structure has the internal conformation, in contrast to the surface conformation for the (H2O)21 cluster, whereas the dissociated structure of NH3(H2O)20 has the surface conformation. As the cluster size of (H2O)n/NH3(H2O)n-1 increases, the difference in standard free energy between undissociated and dissociated (ion-pair) clusters is asymptotically well corroborated with the experimental free energy change at infinite dilution of H3O+/NH4+ and OH-. The predicted NH and OH stretching frequencies of the undissociated and dissociated (ion-pair) clusters are discussed.  相似文献

This paper reports the syntheses and characterization of four isomorphous compounds (NH(3)C(6)H(4)NH(3))M(2)(hedpH)(2).H(2)O [M = Fe (1), Co (2), Mn (3), Zn (4); hedp = C(CH(3))(OH)(PO(3))(2)]. Each contains two crystallographically different kinds of {M(2)(hedpH)(2)}(n) double chains, where the {M(2)(mu-O)(2)} dimer units are connected by O-P-O bridges. The double chains are connected through extensive hydrogen bonds, hence generating a three-dimensional supramolecular network. The temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements show dominant antiferromagnetic interactions in compounds 1-3, mediated through the mu-O and/or O-P-O bridges between the metal(II) centers. The magnetization measurements reveal that compounds 1-3 experience field-induced magnetic transitions at low temperatures.  相似文献

The potential-energy curves of the ground and low-lying excited states for Mg(+)NH(3) along the N-H distance were examined by the ab initio configuration interaction method. The photoinduced hydrogen elimination reaction found by the recent experiment is considered to occur via the ground-state channel. The geometries, energetics, and electronic nature of the ground-state Mg(+)(NH(3))(n) and MgNH(2) (+)(NH(3))(n-1) (n=1-6) were also investigated by second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory and compared with those of the corresponding hydrated species. In contrast to Mg(+)(H(2)O)(n), the successive solvation energies of Mg(+)(NH(3))(n) become as large as those of MgNH(2) (+)(NH(3))(n-1) containing the Mg(2+)-NH(2) (-) core for n=5 and 6, because of the growing one-center ion-pair state with the Mg(2+) and the diffuse solvated electron. As a result, the solvation energies of the MgNH(2) (+)(NH(3))(n-1) are insufficient to overcome the huge endothermicity of Mg(+)(NH(3))-->MgNH(2) (+)+H, even at these sizes, which is responsible for no observation of the H-loss products, MgNH(2) (+)(NH(3))(n-1).  相似文献

The carbophosphazene and cyclophosphazene hydrazides, [{NC(N(CH(3))(2))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))NH(2)}(2)}] (1) and [N(3)P(3)(O(2)C(12)H(8))(2){N(CH(3))NH(2)}(2)] were condensed with o-vanillin to afford the multisite coordination ligands [{NC(N(CH(3))(2))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C(6)H(3)-(o-OH)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}] (2) and [{N(2)P(2)(O(2)C(12)H(8))(2)}{NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C (6)H(3)-(o-OH)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}] (3), respectively. These ligands were used for the preparation of heterometallic complexes [{NC(N(CH(3))(2))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C(6)H(3)-(o-O)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}{CuCa(NO(3))(2)}] (4), [{NC(N(CH(3))(2))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C(6)H(3)-(o-O)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}{Cu(2)Ca(2)(NO(3))(4)}]·4H(2)O (5), [{NC(N(CH(3))(2))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C(6)H(3)-(o-O)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}{CuDy(NO(3))(4)}]·CH(3)COCH(3) (6), [{NP(O(2)C(12)H(8))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C(6)H(3)-(o-O)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}{CuDy(NO(3))(3)}] (7), and [{NP(O(2)C(12)H(8))}(2){NP{N(CH(3))N═CH-C(6)H(3)-(o-O)(m-OCH(3))}(2)}{CuTb(NO(3))(3)}] (8). The molecular structures of these compounds reveals that the ligands 2 and 3 possess dual coordination pockets which are used to specifically bind the transition metal ion and the alkaline earth/lanthanide metal ion; the Cu(2+)/Ca(2+), Cu(2+)/Tb(3+), and Cu(2+)/Dy(3+) pairs in these compounds are brought together by phenoxide and methoxy oxygen atoms. While 4, 6, 7, and 8 are dinuclear complexes, 5 is a tetranuclear complex. Detailed magnetic properties on 6-8 reveal that these compounds show weak couplings between the magnetic centers and magnetic anisotropy. However, the ac susceptibility experiments did not reveal any out of phase signal suggesting that in these compounds slow relaxation of magnetization is absent above 1.8 K.  相似文献

Reactions of neutral vanadium and tantalum oxide clusters with NO, NH(3), and an NO/NH(3) mixture in a fast flow reactor are investigated by time of flight mass spectrometry and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Single photon ionization through a 46.9 nm (26.5 eV) extreme ultraviolet (EUV) laser is employed to detect both neutral cluster distributions and reaction products. Association products VO(3)NO and V(2)O(5)NO are detected for V(m)O(n) clusters reacting with pure NO, and reaction products, TaO(3,4)(NO)(1,2), Ta(2)O(5)NO, Ta(2)O(6)(NO)(1-3), and Ta(3)O(8)(NO)(1,2) are generated for Ta(m)O(n) clusters reacting with NO. In both instances, oxygen-rich clusters are the active metal oxide species for the reaction M(m)O(n)+NO→M(m)O(n)(NO)(x). Both V(m)O(n) and Ta(m)O(n) cluster systems are very active with NH(3). The main products of the reactions with NH(3) result from the adsorption of one or two NH(3) molecules on the respective clusters. A gas mixture of NO:NH(3) (9:1) is also added into the fast flow reactor: the V(m)O(n) cluster system forms stable, observable clusters with only NH(3) and no V(m)O(n)(NO)(x)(NH(3))(y) species are detected; the Ta(m)O(n) cluster system forms stable, observable mixed clusters, Ta(m)O(n)(NO)(x)(NH(3))(y), as well as Ta(m)O(n)(NO)(x) and Ta(m)O(n)(NH(3))(y) individual clusters, under similar conditions. The mechanisms for the reactions of neutral V(m)O(n) and Ta(m)O(n) clusters with NO/NH(3) are explored via DFT calculations. Ta(m)O(n) clusters form stable complexes based on the coadsorption of NO and NH(3). V(m)O(n) clusters form weakly bound complexes following the reaction pathway toward end products N(2)+H(2)O without barrier. The calculations give an interpretation of the experimental data that is consistent with the condensed phase reactivity of V(m)O(n) catalyst and suggest the formation of intermediates in the catalytic chemistry.  相似文献

Infrared photodissociation action spectra of protonated ammonia cluster ions, NH(4) (+)(NH(3))(n) (n=5-8), were measured in the range of 1020-1210 cm(-1) by using a tunable infrared free electron laser. Analyses by the density functional theory (DFT) show that the spectral features observed can be assigned to the nu(2) vibrational mode of the NH(3) molecules in NH(4) (+)(NH(3))(n). Size dependence of the spectra supports structural models obtained by the DFT calculations, in which the NH(4) (+) ion is solvated by the four nearest-neighbor NH(3) molecules. For NH(4) (+)(NH(3))(5), the spectrum between 1000 and 1700 cm(-1) was measured. The nu(4) bands of the NH(3) molecules and the NH(4) (+) ion were found in the range of 1420-1700 cm(-1).  相似文献

Variational Monte Carlo, diffusion Monte Carlo, and stereographic projection path integral simulations are performed on eight selected species from the (NH(3))(n), (ND(3))(n), (NH(2)D)(n), and (NH(3))(n-1)(ND(3)) clusters. Each monomer is treated as a rigid body with the rotation spaces mapped by the stereographic projection coordinates. We compare the energy obtained from path integral simulations at several low temperatures with those obtained by diffusion Monte Carlo, for two dimers, and we find that at 4 K, the fully deuterated dimer energy is in excellent agreement with the ground state energy of the same. The ground state wavefunction for the (NH(3))(2-5) clusters is predominantly localized in the global minimum of the potential energy. In all simulations of mixed isotopic substitutions, we find that the heavier isotope is almost exclusively the participant in the hydrogen bond.  相似文献

Two-color (1 + 1') REMPI mass spectra of o-, m- and p-fluorophenol.ammonia (1 ration) clusters were measured with a long delay time between excitation and ionization lasers. The appearance of NH(4)(NH(3))(n-1)(+) with 100 ns delay after exciting the S(1) state is a strong indication of generation of long-lived species via S(1). In analogy with the phenol.ammonia clusters, we conclude that an excited state hydrogen transfer reaction occurs in o-, m- and p-fluorophenol.ammonia clusters. The S(1)-S(0) transition of o-, m- and p-fluorophenol.ammonia (1 : 1) clusters were measured by the (1 + 1') REMPI spectra, while larger (1 ration) cluster (n = 2-4) were observed by monitoring the long-lived NH(4)(NH(3))(n-1) clusters action spectra. The vibronic structures of m- and p-fluorophenol.ammonia clusters are assigned based on vibrational calculations in S(0). The o-fluorophenol.ammonia (1 : 1) cluster shows an anharmonic progression that is analyzed by a one-dimensional internal rotational motion of the ammonia molecule. The interaction between the ammonia molecule and the fluorine atom, and its change upon electronic excitation are suggested. The broad action spectra observed for the o-fluorophenol.ammonia (1 : n) cluster (n>== 2) suggest the excited state hydrogen transfer is faster than in m- and p-fluorophenol.ammonia clusters. The different reaction rates between o-, m- and p-fluorophenol.ammonia clusters are found from comparison between the REMPI and action spectra.  相似文献

Iron-sulfur clusters containing a singly or doubly NH.S hydrogen-bonded arenethiolate ligand, [Fe(4)S(4)(S-2-RCONHC(6)H(4))(4)](2)(-) (R = CH(3), t-Bu, CF(3)), [Fe(4)S(4){S-2,6-(RCONH)(2)C(6)H(3)}(4)](2)(-), [Fe(2)S(2)(S-2-RCONHC(6)H(4))(4)](2)(-) (R = CH(3), t-Bu, CF(3)), and [Fe(2)S(2){S-2,6-(RCONH)(2)C(6)H(3)}(4)](2)(-), were synthesized as models of bacterial [4Fe-4S] and plant-type [2Fe-2S] ferredoxins. The X-ray structures and IR spectra of (PPh(4))(2)[Fe(4)S(4){S-2,6-(CH(3)CONH)(2)C(6)H(3)}(4)].2CH(3)CN and (NEt(4))(2)[Fe(2)S(2){S-2,6-(t-BuCONH)(2)C(6)H(3)}(4)] indicate that the two amide NH groups at the o,o'-positions are directed to the thiolate sulfur atom and form double NH.S hydrogen bonds. The NH.S hydrogen bond contributes to the positive shift of the redox potential of not only (Fe(4)S(4))(+)/(Fe(4)S(4))(2+) but also (Fe(4)S(4))(2+)/(Fe(4)S(4))(3+) in the [4Fe-4S] clusters as well as (Fe(2)S(2))(2+)/(Fe(2)S(2))(3+) in the [2Fe-2S] clusters. The doubly NH.S hydrogen-bonded thiolate ligand effectively prevents the ligand exchange reaction by benzenethiol because the two amide NH groups stabilize the thiolate by protection from dissociation.  相似文献

Simulated annealing Monte Carlo conformer searches using the "mag-walking" algorithm are employed to locate the global minima of molecular clusters of ammonium chloride of the types (NH(4)Cl)(n), (NH(4)(+))(NH(4)Cl)(n), and (Cl(-))(NH(4)Cl)(n) with n = 1-13. The M06-2X density functional theory method is used to refine and predict the structures, energies, and thermodynamic properties of the neutral, cation, and anion clusters. For selected small clusters, the resulting structures are compared to those obtained from a variety of models and basis sets, including RI-MP2 and B3LYP calculations. M06-2X calculations predict enhanced stability of the (NH(4)(+))(NH(4)Cl)(n) clusters when n = 3, 6, 8, and 13. This prediction corresponds favorably to anomalies previously observed in thermospray mass spectroscopy experiments. The (NH(4)Cl)(n) clusters show alternations in stability between even and odd values of n. Clusters of the type (Cl(-))(NH(4)Cl)(n) display a magic number distribution different from that of the cation clusters, with enhanced stability predicted for n = 2, 6, and 11. None of the observed cluster structures resemble the room-temperature CsCl structure of NH(4)Cl(s), which is consistent with previous work. Numerous clusters have structures reminiscent of the higher-temperature, rock-salt phase of the solid ammonium halides.  相似文献

Treatment of Me(2)S·B(C(6)F(5))(n) H(3-n) (n=1 or 2) with ammonia yields the corresponding adducts. H(3)N·B(C(6)F(5))H(2) dimerises in the solid state through N-H···H-B dihydrogen interactions. The adducts can be deprotonated to give lithium amidoboranes Li[NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(n)H(3-n)]. Reaction of the n=2 reagent with [Cp(2)ZrCl(2)] leads to disubstitution, but [Cp(2)Zr{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}(2)] is in equilibrium with the product of β-hydride elimination [Cp(2)Zr(H){NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}], which proves to be the major isolated solid. The analogous reaction with [Cp(2)HfCl(2)] gives a mixture of [Cp(2)Hf{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}(2)] and the N-H activation product [Cp(2)Hf{NHB(C(6)F(5 )(2)H}]. [Cp(2)Zr{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}(2)]·PhMe and [Cp(2)Hf{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}(2)]·4(thf) exhibit β-B-agostic chelate bonding of one of the two amidoborane ligands in the solid state. The agostic hydride is invariably coordinated to the outside of the metallocene wedge. Exceptionally, [Cp(2)Hf{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}(2)]?PhMe has a structure in which the two amidoborane ligands adopt an intermediate coordination mode, in which neither is definitively agostic. [Cp(2)Hf{NHB(C(6)F(5))(2)H}] has a formally dianionic imidoborane ligand chelating through an agostic interaction, but the bond-length distribution suggests a contribution from a zwitterionic amidoborane resonance structure. Treatment of the zwitterions [Cp(2)MMe(μ-Me)B(C(6)F(5))(3)] (M=Zr, Hf) with Li[NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(n)H(3-n)] (n=2) results in [Cp(2) MMe{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)H}] complexes, for which the spectroscopic data, particularly (1)J(B,H), again suggest β-B-agostic interactions. The reactions proceed similarly for the structurally encumbered [Cp'(2)ZrMe(μ-Me)B(C(6)F(5))(3)] precursor (Cp'=1,3-C(5)H(3)(SiMe(3))(2) , n=1 or 2) to give [Cp'(2)ZrMe{NH(2)B(C(6)F(5))(n)H(3-n)}], both of which have been structurally characterised and show chelating, agostic amidoborane coordination. In contrast, the analogous hafnium chemistry leads to the recovery of [Cp'(2)HfMe(2)] and the formation of Li[HB(C(6)F(5))(3)] through hydride abstraction.  相似文献
