A novel beta-diketone with an electro-transporting oxadiazole group, 1-(4'-(5-(4-methylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)biphenyl-4-yl)-4,4,4-trifluorobutane-1,3-dione (MPBDTFA), was prepared with high yield. With this synthesized ligand as the first ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) as the secondary ligand, a new europium(III) ternary complex, Eu(MPBDTFA)(3)Phen, was synthesized. The new beta-diketone and its europium(III) ternary complex were characteristized by elemental analysis, thermo-gravimetric analysis, IR and UV-visible spectroscopies. Photoluminescence measurements indicated that the energy absorbed by the organic ligands was efficiently transfered to the central Eu(3+) ions, and the complex showed intensely and characteristically red emissions due to the (5)D(0)-->(7)F(j) transitions of the central Eu(3+) ions. With an electro-transporting group in molecule and highly thermal stability, the synthesized Eu(III) ternary complex is expected as a red-emitting candidate material for fabrication of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).  相似文献

4-Vinylphenylboronic acid ligand (VPBA) is functionalized with two crosslinking reagents (3-(triethoxysilyl)-propylisocyanate [TEPIC] and 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate [TMPMA]) to achieve the two special molecular bridge VPBA-TEPIC and VPBA-TMPMA. Meanwhile, beta-diketone ligands (2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone [TTA], acetyl acetone [ACAC]) as the second ligands play the role of the main energy donor, which absorb abundant energy in ultraviolet-visible extent and then transfer the energy to the corresponding lanthanide ions (Eu(3+), Tb(3+)) to sensitize their emission of them. Eight binary and ternary Eu(3+), Tb(3+) hybrids with VPBA-TEPIC (VPBA-TMPMA) and TTA (ACAC) have been constructed, whose photoluminescence properties are studied in depth and suggest that the ternary hybrids show the favorable characteristic luminescent properties (longer lifetime and higher quantum efficiency).  相似文献

The photophysical properties of 4-naphthalen-1-yl-benzoic acid ligands and their Eu(III)-cored complexes were systematically investigated to elucidate the effective energy-transfer pathway in luminescent lanthanide complexes. A series of 4-naphthalen-1-yl-benzoic acid ligands, such as 4-naphthalen-1-yl-benzoic acid (NA-1), 4-[4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-naphthalen-1-yl]-benzoic acid (NA-2), and 4-{4-[4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-naphthalen-1-yl]-benzyloxy}-benzoic acid (NA-3), were synthesized and utilized for the synthesis of their Eu(III)-cored complexes, corresponding to NAC-1, NAC-2, and NAC-3. The fluorescence spectra of NA-1 and NA-2 show large Stokes shifts with increasing solvent polarity. These large Stokes shifts might be dominantly due to the formation of an intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) complex in the excited state. Also, the intensive luminescence of the Eu(III) ions by the photoexcitation of the ligand in NAC-1 and NAC-2 in polar solvents supports that the energy transfer from the ligand to the Eu(III) ion takes place efficiently. In the case of NA-3, which has a -CH2OPh- group that acts as a blocking group, there is no dependence of the fluorescence spectrum on the solvent nature and no luminescence of the Eu(III) ions by the photoexcitation of the ligand, indicating no formation of the ICT state. This can be due to the fact that the formation of the ICT state in NA-3 was prevented because the -OCH2- group acts as a blocking group by interrupting the pi-conjugation between the benzoic acid and the naphthalene unit. From these photophysical studies, we suggest that the ICT state plays a very important role in the energy-transfer pathway from the ligand to the Eu(III) ion. To our best knowledge, this is the first demonstration of sensitized emission of luminescent lanthanide complexes based on 4-naphthalen-1-yl-benzoic acid derivatives by the charge-transfer process.  相似文献

The bis(beta-diketone) ligands 1,3-bis(3-phenyl-3-oxopropanoyl)benzene, H(2)L(1) and 1,3-bis(3-phenyl-3-oxopropanoyl) 5-ethoxy-benzene, H(2)L(2), have been prepared for the examination of dinuclear lanthanide complex formation and investigation of their properties as sensitizers for lanthanide luminescence. The ligands bear two conjugated diketonate binding sites linked by a 1,3-phenylene spacer. The ligands bind to lanthanide(III) or yttrium(III) ions to form neutral homodimetallic triple stranded complexes [M(2)L(1)(3)] where M = Eu, Nd, Sm, Y, Gd and [M(2)L(2)(3)], where M = Eu, Nd or anionic quadruple-stranded dinuclear lanthanide units, [Eu(2)L(1)(4)](2-). The crystal structure of the free ligand H(2)L(1) has been determined and shows a twisted arrangement of the two binding sites around the 1,3-phenylene spacer. The dinuclear complexes have been isolated and fully characterized. Detailed NMR investigations of the complexes confirm the formation of a single complex species, with high symmetry; the complexes show clear proton patterns with chemical shifts of a wide range due to the lanthanide paramagnetism. Addition of Pirkle's reagent to solutions of the complexes leads to splitting of the peaks, confirming the chiral nature of the complexes. Electrospray and MALDI mass spectrometry have been used to identify complex formulation and characteristic isotope patterns for the different lanthanide complexes have been obtained. The complexes have high molar absorption coefficients (around 13 x 10(4) M(-1)cm(-1)) and display strong visible (red or pink) or NIR luminescence upon irradiation at the ligand band around 350 nm, depending on the choice of the lanthanide. Emission quantum yield experiments have been performed and the luminescence signals of the dinuclear complexes have been found to be up to 11 times more intense than the luminescence signals of the mononuclear analogues. The emission quantum yields and the luminescence lifetimes are determined to be 5% and 220 micros for [Eu(2)L(1)(3)], 0.16% and 13 micros for [Sm(2)L(1)(3)], and 0.6% and 1.5 micros for [Nd(2)L(1)(3)]. The energy level of the ligand triplet state was determined from the 77 K spectrum of [Gd(2)L(1)(3)]. The bis-diketonate ligand is shown to be an efficient sensitizer, particularly for Sm and Nd. Photophysical studies of the europium complexes at room temperature and 77 K show the presence of a thermally activated deactivation pathway, which we attribute to ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT). Quenching of the luminescence from this level seems to be operational for the Eu(III) complex but not for complexes of Sm(III) and Nd(III), which exhibit long lifetimes. The quadruple-stranded europium complex has been isolated and characterized as the piperidinium salt of [Eu(2)L(1)(4)](2-). Compared with the triple-stranded Eu(III) complex in the solid state, the quadruple-stranded complex displays a more intense emission signal with a distinct emission pattern indicating the higher symmetry of the quadruple-stranded complex.  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization, and luminescent behavior of trivalent Sm, Eu, Dy, and Tb complexes of two enantiomeric, octadentate, chiral, 2-hydroxyisophthalamide ligands are reported. These complexes are highly luminescent in solution. Functionalization of the achiral parent ligand with a chiral 1-phenylethylamine substituent on the open face of the complex in close proximity to the metal center yields complexes with strong circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) activity. This appears to be the first example of a system utilizing the same ligand architecture to sensitize four different lanthanide cations and display CPL activity. The luminescence dissymmetry factor, g(lum), recorded for the Eu(III) complex is one of the highest values reported, and this is the first time the CPL effect has been demonstrated for a Sm(III) complex with a chiral ligand. The combination of high luminescence intensity with CPL activity should enable new bioanalytical applications of macromolecules in chiral environments.  相似文献

Two new luminescent lanthanide complexes Ln(2)(acac-azain)(4)(mu-acac-azain)(2) [acac-azain = 1-(N-7-azaindolyl)-1,3-butanedionato, Ln = Tb(III), 1, Y(III), 2] have been synthesized and structurally characterized. These two dinuclear complexes are isostructural with the two lanthanide ions being bridged by two acac-azain ligands. Each of the two metal ions is further chelated by four oxygen atoms from two acac-azain ligands, resulting in a coordination number eight for each metal ion. 1 displays characteristic Tb(III) emission bands while 2 displays weak blue luminescence attributable to the ligand. Single-layer and double-layer electroluminescent devices for compound 1 were fabricated, where compound 1 doped PVK layer functions as both the emitting layer and the hole transport layer and PBD functions as an electron transport layer (in the double-layer device), demonstrating that compound 1 is a promising green emitter in electroluminescent devices.  相似文献

The 2,2′-bipyrimidine (bpm) adducts of the β-diketonate complexes of Eu(III), Sm(III), or Yb(III) with 2,2′,6,6′-tetramethyl-2,4-heptanedione (tmhd) resulted in the formation of dinuclear species. The synthesis and X-ray structure of these three new dinuclear lanthanide complexes are found to be similar. Each lanthanide ion is eight coordinate, bound to six O-atoms from the β-diketonates and 2N atoms from the bridging bpm ligand. They exhibit Ln–Ln distances (Sm(III): 6.935 Å, Eu(III): 6.901 Å, Yb(III): 6.679 Å) and Ln–ligand distances that are consistent with the decrease in radii across the lanthanide series. Absorption spectra of the complexes are dominated by ligand absorptions. Both the solution and solid state emission spectra of the complexes resemble ordinary monomeric lanthanide species, indicating independent ions in the dinuclear species. Cyclic voltammetry of all the complexes appear almost identical with discernable ligand centered redox reactions. The complex with Eu(III) ions, having the lowest possible lanthanide redox potential, was not found to display a signal corresponding to metal reduction.  相似文献

Highly luminescent tris[β-diketonate (HFA, 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoropentane-2,4-dione)] europium(III) complexes containing a chiral bis(oxazolinyl) pyridine (pybox) ligand--[(Eu(III)(R)-Ph-pybox)(HFA)(3)], [(Eu(III)(R)-i-Pr-pybox)(HFA)(3)], and [(Eu(III)(R)-Me-Ph-pybox)(HFA)(3)])--exhibit strong circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) at the magnetic-dipole ((5)D(0) → (7)F(1)) transition, where the [(Eu(III)(R)-Ph-pybox)(HFA)(3)] complexes show virtually opposite CPL spectra as compared to those with the same chirality of [(Eu(III)(R)-i-Pr-pybox)(HFA)(3)] and [(Eu(III)(R)-Me-Ph-pybox)(HFA)(3)]. Similarly, the [(Tb(III)(R)-Ph-pybox)(HFA)(3)] complexes were found to exhibit CPL signals almost opposite to those of [(Tb(III)(R)-i-Pr-pybox)(HFA)(3)] and [(Tb(III)(R)-Me-Ph-pybox)(HFA)(3)] complexes with the same pybox chirality. Single-crystal X-ray structural analysis revealed ligand-ligand interactions between the pybox ligand and the HFA ligand in each lanthanide(III) complex: π-π stacking interactions in the Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes with the Ph-pybox ligand, CH/F interactions in those with the i-Pr-pybox ligand, and CH/π interactions in those with the Me-Ph-pybox ligand. The ligand-ligand interactions between the achiral HFA ligands and the chiral pybox results in an asymmetric arrangement of three HFA ligands around the metal center. The metal center geometry varies depending on the types of ligand-ligand interaction.  相似文献

The reaction between the asymmetrical pyridyl ligands 3 (R) and 4 (S) and Eu(III) in CH(3)CN give rise to the formation of lanthanide luminescent 'half-helicates' in 1?:?3 (Ln:ligand) stoichiometry; the formation of which was observed by monitoring the changes in the ground and the excited state properties of the ligands, and in the time-resolved Eu-centred and the CPL emission.  相似文献

The coordination compounds of the trivalent lanthanide ions (Ln(III)) have unique photophysical properties. Ln(III) excitation is usually performed through a light-harvesting antenna. To enable Ln(III)-based emitters to reach their full potential, an understanding of how complex structure affects sensitization and quenching processes is necessary. Here, the role of the linker between the antenna and the metal binding fragment was studied. Four macrocyclic ligands carrying coumarin 2 or 4-methoxymethylcarbostyril sensitizing antennae linked to an octadentate macrocyclic ligand binding site were synthesized. Complexation with Ln(III) (Ln = La, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Yb and Lu) yielded species with overall −1, 0, or +2 and +3-charge. Paramagnetic 1H NMR spectroscopy indicated subtle differences between the coumarin- and carbostyril-carrying Eu(III) and Yb(III) complexes. Cyclic voltammetry showed that the effect of the linker on the Eu(III)/Eu(II) apparent reduction potential was dependent on the electronic properties of the N-substituent. The Eu(III), Tb(III) and Sm(III) complexes were all luminescent. Coumarin-sensitized complexes were poorly emissive; photoinduced electron transfer was not a major quenching pathway in these species. These results show that seemingly similar emitters can undergo very different photophysical processes, and highlight the crucial role the linker can play.  相似文献

A new water-soluble Pybox ligand, 1, has been synthesized and found to crystallize in the monoclinic P2(1)/n space group with unit cell parameters a = 6.0936(1) ?, b = 20.5265(4) ?, c = 12.0548(2) ?, and β = 90.614(1)°. In the crystal, a water molecule is bound through hydrogen-bonding interactions to the nitrogen atoms of the oxazoline rings. This ligand was used to complex a variety of lanthanide ions, opening up new avenues for luminescence and catalysis in aqueous environment. These complexes are highly luminescent in aqueous solutions, in acetonitrile, and in the solid state. Aqueous quantum yields are high at 30.4% for Eu(III), 26.4% for Tb(III), 0.32% for Yb(III), and 0.11% for Nd(III). Er(III) did not luminesce in water, but an emission efficiency of 0.20% could be measured in D(2)O. Aqueous emission lifetimes were also determined for the visible emitting lanthanide ions and are 1.61 ms for Eu(III) and 1.78 ms for Tb(III). Comparing emission lifetimes in deuterated and nondeuterated water indicates that no water molecules are coordinated to the metal ion. Speciation studies show that three species form successively in solution and the log β values are 5.3, 9.6, and 13.8 for Eu(III) and 5.3, 9.2, and 12.7 for Tb(III) for 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1 ligand to metal ratios, respectively.  相似文献

The promising ligand candidates for the energy transfer luminescence measurements of lanthanide (Ln) chelates on aqueous matrices are first proposed. The ligands are; 2[(2-amino-5-methyl-phenoxy)methyl]-6-methoxy-8-aminoquinoline-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate (Quin 2), 1,2-bis(2-amino-phenoxy)ethane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate (BAPTA), and 1,2-bis(2-amino-5-fluoro-phenoxy)ethane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate (F-BAPTA). The Ln-chelates of these aromatic polyaminocarboxylates show the sensitized emission which results from efficient ligand-centered light absorption, and the interesting selectivity is seen; BAPTA and F-BAPTA form the luminescent chelates only with Tb(III) and Dy(III) ions, whereas the emission from Sm(III) and Eu(III) ions is greatly sensitized with Quin 2. The sufficient emission intensity can be obtained even in slightly alkaline aqueous solutions without any addition of surfactants or organic solvents. These octadentate ligands are fairly capable of shielding central Ln ions from quenching by surrounding water molecules. The luminescence enhancement factors are 1600 for Tb(III) ion with BAPTA (em.544 nm) and 1380 for Eu(III) ion with Quin 2 (em. 615 nm), respectively, being relative to their aqueous chloride solutions.  相似文献

Dynamic quenching of Eu(III) and Tb(III) luminescence by inorganic anions as a detection method in ion chromatography was investigated. To obtain a high luminescence intensity, lanthanide(III) complexes are formed with ligands which make indirect excitation of the ions possible. Only a few anions (e.g., nitrite, chromate) induce efficient dynamic luminescence quenching. Chromate is an efficient quencher of Tb-acac luminescence. Samples of tap water and surface water, spiked with chromate, were injected into a high-performance liquid chromatographic system with post-column addition of the luminescent complex. In this way, a detection limit of 1.1 . 10(-7) M (13 ppb) of chromate could be obtained.  相似文献

Increased interest in the emission properties of lanthanide(III) (Eu and Tb) complexes containing ultraviolet and visible sensitizers is being driven by the desire to produce efficient and selective luminescent probes of biological structure. Of special interest are cryptates and other macrocyclic chelating ligands that efficiently encapsulate the lanthanide ions. These species also form relatively stable systems and in some cases are well protected from penetration of the first coordination sphere by solvent molecules and counterions. This work describes the X-ray structure and various spectroscopic measurements on a europium cryptate containing 3,3'-biisoquinoline-2,2'-dioxide (biqO2). This cryptate has been previously recognized for special stability and luminescence efficiency. The compound, (Eu:biqO2.2.2)(CF3SO3)3.CH3CN.H2O, forms rhombic crystals with the space group Pbca. Absorption, emission, and excitation spectra at 293, 77, and 4 K as well as luminescence decay time measurements are used to characterize the solid state and solutions. The ligand-to-metal energy-transfer mechanism and thermally activated back-energy-transfer processes are analyzed and compared to previously published results on related Eu(III) cryptate systems. Preliminary results on the use of high liquid pressure to perturb ligand singlet and triplet states and, as a consequence, probe the ligand-metal orbital interactions are also presented.  相似文献

In this study, we present the aqueous solution behavior of two luminescent lanthanide antenna complexes (Eu3+? 1 , Dy3+? 9 ) with different ligand topologies in the presence of dipicolinic acid (DPA, pyridine‐2,6‐dicarboxylic acid). Macrocyclic (1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane‐1,4,7‐triacetic acid, DO3A, 9 ) and acyclic (1,4,7‐triazaheptane‐1,1,7,7‐tetraacetic acid, DTTA, 1 ) ligands have been selected to form a ratiometric pair in which Dy3+? 9 acts as a reference and Eu3+? 1 acts as a probe for the recognition of DPA. The pair of luminescent complexes in water reveals the capability to work as a DPA luminescent sensor. The change of emission intensity of Eu3+ indicates the occurrence of a new sensitization path for the lanthanide cation through excitation of DPA. NMR evidence implies the presence of free 1 and mass spectrometry shows the formation of emitting [EuDPA2]? as a result of a ligand exchange reaction.  相似文献

Works concerning the application of nonradiative transfer of electronic excitation energy to investigation into nanostructures of lanthanide complexes in aqueous solutions are surveyed. The effect of the formation of nanosized structures on the quenching of energy donors Ln(III) ions by acceptor ions in concentrated chloride solutions of structuring ions (Li(I), Ca(II)) was discussed. The columinescence phenomenon observed in aqueous solutions of lanthanide chelates was considered. It was shown that the enhancement of luminescence Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes in water in the presence of excess β-diketones with an admixture of other Ln(III) ions, primarily Gd(III), (columinescence) is due to sensitization via energy transfer over triplet levels of the ligands in the nanostructures formed under these conditions and to the weakening of deactivation of excited luminescent ions by the formation of nanostructures. The influence of the solution preparation procedure on the formation of nanostructures of chelates with different lanthanide ions was revealed, which manifest itself as a variation in the enhancement and quenching of luminescence in the presence of ions from the cerium and yttrium subgroups. Possible applications of the columinescence phenomenon to chemical and medical analysis are briefly discussed.  相似文献

New polydentate ligands (e.g., Tsox and TsoxMe) have been synthesized to take advantage of the chelating effect of bidentate 8-hydroxyquinolinate subunits connected to a N,N,N',N'-tetraaminopropyl-1,2-ethylenediamine framework and with the aim of sensitizing the NIR luminescence of Nd(III) and Yb(III) ions. Ten pK(a)'s have been determined and the interaction between the ligands and Ln(III) ions in dilute aqueous solution has been probed both by potentiometric and spectrophotometric titrations. These studies have been mostly performed with the Eu(III) ion, which is in the middle of the lanthanide series, and extended to other ions (La(III), Er(III), Lu(IIII)). Stable complexes with Ln(III) ions are formed (pLn in the range of 14-16), the four chromophoric units being coordinated to the metal center, exploiting the entropic effect generated by the anchor. The monometallic complexes [Ln(H(2)L)](3)(-) exist as the major species at physiological pH regardless of the lanthanide used. Lifetime determinations of the Nd((4)F(3/2)) and Yb((2)F(5/2)) excited levels in both H(2)O and D(2)O at buffered pH point to the absence of water molecules bound in the inner coordination sphere of the Ln(III). Photophysical properties of the free ligands and of their lanthanide complexes have been investigated in buffered aqueous solutions both at room temperature and 77 K. The low-energy triplet state makes energy transfers from the ligand to the metal ions possible; this leads to a sizable sensitization of the Nd(III)- or Yb(III)-centered luminescence ( = 0.02% and = 0.18%) for Tsox chelates. Methylation of the amide functions removes the quenching mechanism induced by the proximate N-H vibrations and increases both the lifetimes and quantum yields of the TsoxMe chelates ( = 0.04% and = 0.37%). In fact, TsoxMe yields one of the most luminescent Yb(III) compounds known in water, and this ligand appears to be suitable for the development of NIR probes for bioanalyses.  相似文献

Tris-beta-diketonate lanthanide(III) complexes (Ln = Eu, Er, Yb, Tb), of general formula [Ln(acac)3 L(m)], with chelating ligands such as 4,7-disubstituted-1,10-phenanthrolines and 4,4'-disubstituted-2,2'-bipyridines, have been synthesized and fully characterized. The inductive effects of the para-substituents on the aromatic N-donor ligands have been investigated both in the solid and in the solution states. Single-crystal X-ray structures have been determined for the diethyl 1,10-phenanthroline-4,7-dicarboxylate europium and 4,4'-dimethoxy-2,2'-bipyridine erbium derivatives, revealing a distorted square antiprismatic geometry around the lanthanide atom in both cases. The influence exerted by the p,p'-substituents with respect to the nitrogen coordinating atoms on the Ln-N bond distances is discussed comparing the geometrical parameters with those found for the crystal structures containing the fragments [Ln(III)(phen)] and [Ln(III)(bipy)] obtained from the Cambridge Structural Database. The influence exerted by the electron-attracting groups on the coordination ability of the ligands, that in some cases becomes lack of coordination of the lanthanide ions, has been also detected in solution where the loss of the ligand has been followed by UV-vis spectroscopy. Moreover, the use of relatively long alkoxy chains as substituents on the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand led to the formation of a promesogenic lanthanide complex, whose thermal behavior is encouraging for the synthesis of new lanthanide liquid-crystalline species.  相似文献

β-Diketone lanthanide complexes are used mainly in lighting, telecommunication, screens, safety inks, and marking as well as in the field of luminescent materials for probes in biosciences. Two new lanthanide ternary complexes, the general formula Eu(BCPP)3(Phen) and Tb(BCPP)3(Phen), combined 1,3-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-propanedione (BCPP) with 1,10-phenanthroline as a secondary ligand, were synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, FT-IR, and MALDI-TOF MS. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that these Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes displayed bidentate ligands and a square antiprism geometry for the metal center. Also, the absorption and thermal behavior of these lanthanide complexes were investigated. When the maximum absorption of the lanthanide complexes was compared, it was observed that the absorption wavelength of the lanthanide complexes were red shifted in DMSO, DMF, and DCM, depending on the polarity of the solvent.  相似文献
