Measurements of magnetic and transport properties were performed on needle-shaped single crystals of Ce_(12)Fe_(57.5)As_(41)and La_(12)Fe_(57.5)As_(41).The availability of a complete set of data enabled a side-by-side comparison between these two rare earth compounds. Both compounds exhibited multiple magnetic orders within 2-300 K and metamagnetic transitions at various fields.Ferromagnetic transitions with Curie temperatures of 100 and 125 K were found for Ce_(12)Fe_(57.5)As_(41)and La_(12)Fe_(57.5)As_(41),respectively,followed by antiferromagnetic type spin reorientations near Curie temperatures. The magnetic properties underwent complex evolution in the magnetic field for both compounds. An antiferromagnetic phase transition at about 60 K and 0.2 T was observed merely for Ce_(12)Fe_(57.5)As_(41).The field-induced magnetic phase transition occurred from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic structure.A strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy was evident from magnetization measurements of Ce_(12)Fe_(57.5)As_(41).A temperature-field phase diagram was present for these two rare earth systems. In addition,a logarithmic temperature dependence of electrical resistivity was observed in the two compounds within a large temperature range of 150-300 K,which is rarely found in 3D-based compounds. It may be related to Kondo scattering described by independent localized Fe 3d moments interacting with conduction electrons.  相似文献

Epitaxial BaFe1.8Cr0.2As2 thin films with the tetragonal c-axis perpendicular to the thin film surface were grown on (LaAlO3)0.3(Sr2AlTaO6)0.7 (LSAT) single crystalline substrates using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Resistive measurements indicate the existence of two transitions at temperatures of about 80 K and 40 K. The transition at 80 K is attributed to the structural transition from the high temperature tetragonal phase to the low temperature orthorhombic phase accompanied with the magnetic transition from a paramagnetic to an antiferromagnetic state as known for doped bulk systems. Below T ≈ 40 K the magnetization curves measured perpendicularly to the orthorhombic c-axis in fields up to 9 Tesla show two inflexion points indicating metamagnetic transitions.  相似文献

The physical and structural properties of Fe1.11Te and Fe1.11Te0.5Se0.5 have been investigated by means of X-ray and neutron diffraction as well as physical property measurements. For the Fe1.11Te compound, the structure distortion from a tetragonal to monoclinic phase takes place at 64 K accompanied with the onset of antiferromagnetic order upon cooling. The magnetic structure of the monoclinic phase was confirmed to be of antiferromagnetic configuration with a propagation vector k = (1/2, 0, 1/2) based on Rietveld refinement of neutron powder diffraction data. The structural/magnetic transitions are also clearly visible in magnetic, electronic and thermodynamic measurements. For superconducting Fe1.11Te0.5Se0.5 compound, the superconducting transition with T c = 13.4 K is observed in the resistivity and ac susceptibility measurements. The upper critical field H c2 is obtained by measuring the resistivity under different magnetic fields. The Kim’s critical state model is adopted to analyze the temperature dependence of the ac susceptibility and the intergranular critical current density is calculated as a function of both field amplitude and temperature. Neutron diffraction results show that Fe1.11Te0.5Se0.5 crystalizes in tetragonal structure at 300 K as in the parent compound Fe1.11Te and no structural distortion is detected upon cooling to 2 K. However an anisotropic thermal expansion anomaly is observed around 100 K.  相似文献

Electrical transport and structural characterizations of isoelectronically substituted Ba(Fe0.9Ru0.1)2As2 have been performed as a function of pressure up to ~ 30 GPa and temperature down to ~ 10 K using designer diamond anvil cell. Similar to undoped members of the AFe2As2 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) family, Ba(Fe0.9Ru0.1)2As2 shows anomalous a-lattice parameter expansion with increasing pressure and a concurrent ThCr2Si2 type isostructural (I4/mmm) phase transition from tetragonal (T) phase to a collapsed tetragonal (cT) phase occurring between 12 and 17 GPa where the a is maximum. Above 17 GPa, the material remains in the cT phase up to 30 GPa at 200 K. The resistance measurements show evidence of pressure-induced zero resistance that may be indicative of high-temperature superconductivity for pressures above 3.9 GPa. The onset of the resistive transition temperature decreases gradually with increasing pressure before completely disappearing for pressures above ~ 10.6 GPa near the T-cT transition. We have determined the crystal structure of the high-T c phase of Ru-doped BaFe2As2 to remain as tetragonal (I4/mmm) by analyzing the X-ray diffraction pattern obtained at 10 K and 9.7 ± 0.7 GPa, as opposed to inferring the structural transition from electrical resistance measurement, as in a previous report [S.K. Kim, M.S. Torikachvili, E. Colombier, A. Thaler, S.L. Bud’ko, P.C. Canfield, Phys. Rev. B 84, 134525 (2011)].  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the ac magnetic susceptibility of a single-crystal mixed rare-earth garnet Er2HoAl5O12 has been investigated within the range from 1.8 to 300 K in a zero constant field and in applied bias fields of up to 9 T. In the absence of a constant magnetic field the magnetic susceptibility followed the Curie–Weiss law. The application of a constant magnetic field caused a magnetic phase transition, the temperature of which increased with increasing magnetic field. The temperature of the maximum of the ac magnetic susceptibility, which is a characteristic of the phase transition, did not show a noticeable dependence on the frequency of the alternating magnetic field.  相似文献

Early work on the iron-arsenide compounds supported the view, that a reduced dimensionality might be a necessary prerequisite for high-T c superconductivity. Later, however, it was found that the zero-temperature upper critical magnetic field, H c2(0), for the 122 iron pnictides is in fact rather isotropic. Here, we report measurements of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity, ρ(T), in Ba0.5K0.5Fe2As2 and Ba0.68K0.32Fe2As2 single crystals in zero magnetic field and in Ba0.68K0.32Fe2As2 in static and pulsed magnetic fields up to 60 T. We find that the resistivity of both compounds in zero field is well described by an exponential term due to inter-sheet umklapp electron-phonon scattering between light electrons around the M point to heavy hole sheets at the Γ point in reciprocal space. From our data, we construct an H-T phase diagram for the inter-plane (H | c) and in-plane (H | ab) directions for Ba0.68K0.32Fe2As2. Contrary to published data for 122 underdoped FeAs compounds, we find that H c2(T) is in fact anisotropic in optimally doped samples down to low temperatures. The anisotropy parameter, γ = H c2 ab /H c2 c , is about 2.2 at T c . For both field orientations we find a concave curvature of the H c2 lines with decreasing anisotropy and saturation towards lower temperature. Taking into account Pauli spin paramagnetism, we perfectly can describe H c2 and its anisotropy.  相似文献

Superconductivity was achieved in Ti-doped iron-arsenide compound Sr4Cr0.8Ti1.2O6Fe2As2 (abbreviated as Cr-FeAs-42622). The X-ray diffraction measurement shows that this material has a layered structure with the space group of P4/nmm, and with the lattice constants a = b = 3.9003 Å and c = 15.8376 Å. Clear diamagnetic signals in ac susceptibility data and zero-resistance in resistivity data were detected at about 6 K, confirming the occurrence of bulk superconductivity. Meanwhile we observed a superconducting transition in the resistive data with the onset transition temperature at 29.2 K, which may be induced by the nonuniform distribution of the Cr/Ti content in the FeAs-42622 phase.  相似文献

The crystal and magnetic structures of Fe1.087Te have been studied by neutron powder diffraction in the temperature range from 1.7 to 80 K at pressures of  ≈0.4 and ≈1.2 GPa. No symmetry change of the tetragonal paramagnetic ambient pressure phase (space group P4/nmm) was observed for temperatures above 60 K and pressures up to  ≈1.2 GPa. A novel pressure-induced phase of Fe1.087Te having orthorhombic symmetry (space group Pmmn) and incommensurate antiferromagneticbicollinear order was observed in the temperature range from 50 to 60 K at  ≈1.2 GPa. The known monoclinic ambient pressure phase of Fe1.087Te (space group P2 1/n) with commensurate antiferromagnetic order was found to be stable up to at least  ≈1.2 GPa at low temperature.  相似文献

Thermophysical, magnetic, and dielectric properties of multiferroic BiFeO3 and Bi0.95La0.05FeO3 ceramic compounds were comprehensively studied. Anomalies of the permittivity near an antiferromagnetic phase transition related to the structural variations were detected. The temperature T N was determined from the temperature dependences of the thermal expansion coefficient, heat capacity, and differential susceptibility. It is shown that the transition point is shifted to higher temperatures as the rare-earth La ion substitutes for Bi. It is established that an insignificant substitution of lanthanum for bismuth enhances the magnetic properties of bismuth ferrite and the magnetodielectric effect.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the Nd0.5Gd0.5Fe3(BO3)4 single crystal have been studied in principal crystallographic directions in magnetic fields to 90 kG in the temperature range 2–300 K; in addition, the heat capacity has been measured in the range 2–300 K. It has been found that, below the Néel temperature T N = 32 K down to 2 K, the single crystal exhibits an easy-plane antiferromagnetic structure. A hysteresis has been detected during magnetization of the crystal in the easy plane in fields of 1.0–3.5 kG, and a singularity has been found in the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the easy plane at a temperature of 11 K in fields B < 1 kG. It has been shown that the singularity is due to appearance of the hysteresis. The origin of the magnetic properties of the crystal near the hysteresis has been discussed.  相似文献

We report on a thorough optical investigation of BaFe2As2 over a broad spectral range and as a function of temperature, focusing our attention on its spin-density-wave (SDW) phase transition at TSDW = 135 K. While BaFe2As2 remains metallic at all temperatures, we observe a depletion in the far infrared energy interval of the optical conductivity below TSDW, ascribed to the formation of a pseudogap-like feature in the excitation spectrum. This is accompanied by the narrowing of the Drude term consistent with the dc transport results and suggestive of suppression of scattering channels in the SDW state. About 20% of the spectral weight in the far infrared energy interval is affected by the SDW phase transition.  相似文献

The crystal and magnetic structures of La0.75Ca0.25MnO3 manganite are studied under high pressures up to 4.5 GPa in the temperature range 12–300 K by the neutron diffraction method. At normal pressure and temperature T C = 240 K, a ferromagnetic state is formed in La0.75Ca0.25MnO3. At high pressures P ≥ 1.5 GPa and at temperatures T < T N ≈ 150 K, a new A-type antiferromagnetic state appears. A further increase in pressure leads to an increase in the volume fraction of the antiferromagnetic phase, which coexists with the initial ferromagnetic phase. The effect of high pressure causes a considerable increase in T C with the slope dT C /dP ≈ 12 K/GPa. Calculations performed in the framework of the double exchange model with allowance for the electron-phonon interaction make it possible to explain this pressure dependence of T C on the basis of experimental data.  相似文献

We present the results a study of structure by neutron diffraction and data on the magnetic properties (linear and nonlinear (second and third order) susceptibilities) of polycrystalline La0.88MnO2.95. This compound exhibits an insulator-metal (IM) phase transition at T IM ≈ 253 K (above the Curie temperature, T C ≈ 244 K) and reveals colossal magnetoresistance. The crystal structure is found to be rhombohedral, and the space group is R3c. Analysis of magnetic properties shows that at T* ≈ 258 K > T C , isolated paramagnetic clusters occur in the paramagnetic matrix; their concentration increases upon cooling. We observed no noticeable differences between the temperature evolution of the clustered state of this manganite with its insulator-metal transition and in the insulator La0.88MnO2.91. Possible scenarios of the paramagnet-ferromagnet and I-M transitions in a self-organized clustered structure are discussed.  相似文献

The magnetic and thermodynamic properties of the complete Ln2/3Cu3Ti4O12 series were investigated. Here Ln stands for the lanthanides La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb. All the samples investigated crystallize in the space group Im[`3]Im\bar{3} with lattice constants that follow the lanthanide contraction. The lattice constant of the Ce compound reveals the presence of Ce4+ leading to the composition Ce1/2Cu3Ti4O12. From magnetic susceptibility and electron-spin resonance experiments it can be concluded that the copper ions always carry a spin S = 1/2 and order antiferromagnetically close to 25 K. The Curie-Weiss temperatures can approximately be calculated assuming a two-sublattice model corresponding to the copper and lanthanide ions, respectively. It seems that the magnetic moments of the heavy rare earths are weakly coupled to the copper spins, while for the light lanthanides no such coupling was found. The 4f moments remain paramagnetic down to the lowest temperatures, with the exception of the Tm compound, which indicates enhanced Van-Vleck magnetism due to a non-magnetic singlet ground state of the crystal-field split 4f manifold. From specific-heat measurements we accurately determined the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature and obtained information on the crystal-field states of the rare-earth ions.  相似文献

We have studied the electronic and magnetic structures of the ternary iron arsenides AFe2As2 (A = Ba, Ca, or Sr) using the first-principles density functional theory. The ground states of these compounds are in a collinear antiferromagnetic order, resulting from the interplay between the nearest and the next-nearest neighbor superexchange antiferromagnetic interactions bridged by As 4p orbitals. The correction from the spin-orbit interaction to the electronic band structure is given. The pressure can reduce dramatically the magnetic moment and diminish the collinear antiferromagnetic order. Based on the calculations, we propose that the low energy dynamics of these materials can be described effectively by a t-J H -J 1-J 2-type model [2008, arXiv: 0806.3526v2].  相似文献

Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrite nanoparticles with tunable Curie temperature and saturation magnetization are synthesized using hydrothermal co-precipitation method. Particle size is controlled in the range of 54 to 135 Å by pH and incubation time of the reaction. All the particles exhibit super-paramagnetic behaviour at room temperature. Langevin’s theory incorporating the interparticle interaction was used to fit the virgin curve of particle magnetization. The low-temperature magnetization follows Bloch spin wave theory. Curie temperature derived from magnetic thermogravimetric analysis shows that Curie temperature increases with increasing particle size. Using these particles magnetic fluid is synthesized and magnetic characterization is reported. The monolayer coating of surfactant on particle surface is confirmed using thermogravimetric measurement. The same technique can be extended to study the magnetic phase transition. The Curie temperature derived using this measurement complies with the low-temperature magnetic measurement. The room-temperature and high-temperature magnetization measurements are also studied for magnetic fluid systems. The magnetic parameters derived for fluid are in good agreement with those obtained for the particle system.  相似文献

Formation of a long-range magnetic order is observed at low temperatures in NaCrSi2O6 and NaCrGe2O6 quasi-one-dimensional metal oxide compounds with a pyroxene structure. The first of these compounds, NaCrSi2O6, is an antiferromagnet with the Néel temperature T N =3 K, while the second, NaCrGe2O6, is a ferromagnet with the Curie temperature T C =6 K. From the measurements of magnetization and specific heat of these compounds, the main parameters of their magnetic subsystems are determined. In NaCrSi2O6, a spin-flip transition is observed. A change in the type of magnetic order that accompanies the replacement of Si by Ge can be attributed to a change in the parameters of the competing direct antiferromagnetic Cr-Cr and indirect ferromagnetic Cr-O-Cr interactions in isolated chains of CrO6 octahedra.  相似文献

We report measurements of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity, ρ(T), and magnetic pen-etration depth, λ(T), for polycrystalline samples of Eu0.5K0.5Fe2As2 with T c = 31 K. ρ(T) follows a linear temperature dependence above T c and bends over to a weaker temperature dependence around 150 K. The magnetic penetration depth, determined by radio frequency technique displays an unusual minimum around 4 K which is associated with short-range ordering of localized Eu3+ moments. The article is published in the original.  相似文献

The magnetic and electrical properties of metallic glasses with the general formula Fe85-xCoxB15 were investigated over a large temperature range to study their concentration-dependent physical parameters. All of the samples investigated (x=17,21,30, and 40) were soft ferromagnets with coercive fields Hc1 Oe and high Curie temperatures slightly above 1200 K. The temperature-dependent magnetization behaved irregularly, and exhibited hysteresis during heating and subsequent cooling through the Curie temperature. The variation of the magnetization with temperature demonstrates that one or more phase transformations (crystallization) occurred in the course of the heating. The electrical resistivities exhibited positive temperature coefficients and minima at temperatures below 50 K. We did not observe a nonmonotonic variation of the magnetic and electrical properties with a monotonic change of the Fe85-xCoxB15 composition that would correlate with the earlier proposed formation of strong nanoclusters in the vicinity of particular stoichiometrically close Fe:Co ratios. The good soft magnetic characteristics make the Fe85-xCoxB15 metal glasses promising candidates for engineering materials in inductive applications. PACS 71.23.Cq; 75.75.+a  相似文献

We studied the optical properties of antiferromagnetic ZnCr2Se4 by infrared spectroscopy up to 28,000 cm-1 and for temperatures from 5 to 295 K. At the magnetic phase transition at 21 K, one of the four phonon modes reveals a clear splitting of 3 cm-1 as a result of spin-phonon coupling, the other three optical eigenmodes only show shifts of the eigenfrequencies. The antiferromagnetic ordering and the concomitant splitting of the phonon mode can be suppressed in a magnetic field of 7 T. At higher energies we observed a broad excitation band which is dominated by a two-peak-structure at about 18,000 cm-1 and 22,000 cm-1, respectively. These energies are in good agreement with the expected spin-allowed crystal-field transitions of the Cr3+ ions. The unexpected strength of these transitions with d-d character is attributed to a considerable hybridization of the selenium p with the chromium d orbitals.  相似文献
