The multiplier spectral curve of a conformal torus f : T 2S 4 in the 4-sphere is essentially (Bohle et al., Conformal maps from a 2-torus to the 4-sphere. arXiv:0712.2311) given by all Darboux transforms of f. In the particular case when the conformal immersion is a Hamiltonian stationary torus ${f: T^2 \to\mathbb{R}^4}$ in Euclidean 4-space, the left normal N : MS 2 of f is harmonic, hence we can associate a second Riemann surface: the eigenline spectral curve of N, as defined in Hitchin (J Differ Geom 31(3):627–710, 1990). We show that the multiplier spectral curve of a Hamiltonian stationary torus and the eigenline spectral curve of its left normal are biholomorphic Riemann surfaces of genus zero. Moreover, we prove that all Darboux transforms, which arise from generic points on the spectral curve, are Hamiltonian stationary whereas we also provide examples of Darboux transforms which are not even Lagrangian.  相似文献

We define a transformation on harmonic maps ${N:\,M \to S^2}$ from a Riemann surface M into the 2-sphere which depends on a parameter ${\mu \in \mathbb{C}_*}$ , the so-called μ-Darboux transformation. In the case when the harmonic map N is the Gauss map of a constant mean curvature surface ${f:\,M \to \mathbb{R}^3}$ and μ is real, the Darboux transformation of ?N is the Gauss map of a classical Darboux transform of f. More generally, for all parameter ${\mu \in \mathbb{C}_*}$ the transformation on the harmonic Gauss map of f is induced by a (generalized) Darboux transformation on f. We show that this operation on harmonic maps coincides with simple factor dressing, and thus generalize results on classical Darboux transforms of constant mean curvature surfaces (Hertrich-Jeromin and Pedit Doc Math J DMV 2:313–333, 1997; Burstall Integrable systems, geometry, and topology, 2006; Inoguchi and Kobayashi Int J Math 16(2):101–110, 2005): every μ-Darboux transform is a simple factor dressing, and vice versa.  相似文献

The notion of Darboux helix in Euclidean 3‐space was introduced and studied by Yayl? et al. 2012. They show that the class of Darboux helices coincide with the class of slant helices. In a special case, if the curvature functions satisfy the equality κ2 + τ2 = constant, then these curves are curve of the constant precession. In this paper, we study Darboux helices in Euclidean 4‐space, and we give a characterization for a curve to be a Darboux helix. We also prove that Darboux helices coincide with the general helices. In a special case, if the first and third curvatures of the curve are equal, then Darboux helix, general helix, and V4‐slant helix are the same concepts.  相似文献

Four constructions of constant mean curvature (CMC) hypersurfaces in \mathbb Sn+1{\mathbb {S}^{n+1}} are given, which should be considered analogues of ‘classical’ constructions that are possible for CMC hypersurfaces in Euclidean space. First, Delaunay-like hypersurfaces, consisting roughly of a chain of hyperspheres winding multiple times around an equator, are shown to exist for all the values of the mean curvature. Second, a hypersurface is constructed which consists of two chains of spheres winding around a pair of orthogonal equators, showing that Delaunay-like hypersurfaces can be fused together in a symmetric manner. Third, a Delaunay-like handle can be attached to a generalized Clifford torus of the same mean curvature. Finally, two generalized Clifford tori of equal but opposite mean curvature of any magnitude can be attached to each other by symmetrically positioned Delaunay-like ‘arms’. This last result extends Butscher and Pacard’s doubling construction for generalized Clifford tori of small mean curvature.  相似文献

Choosing an alternative frame, which is the Frenet frame of the principal-directional curve along a nonlightlike Frenet curve γ , we define de Sitter Darboux images, hyperbolic Darboux images, and lightcone images generated by the principal directional curves of nonlightlike Frenet curves and investigate geometric properties of these associated curves under considerations of singularity theory, contact, and Legendrian duality. It is shown that pseudo-spherical Darboux images and lightcone images can occur singularities (ordinary cusp) characterized by some important invariants. More interestingly, the cusp is closely related to the contact between nonlightlike Frenet curve γ and a slant helix, the principal-directional curve ψ of γ and a helix or the principal-directional curve ψ and a slant helix. In addition, some relations of Legendrian dualities between C-curves and pseudo-spherical Darboux images or lightcone images are shown. Some concrete examples are provided to illustrate our results.  相似文献

We introduce the notions of the pseudospherical normal Darboux images for the curve on a lightlike surface in Minkowski 3‐space and study these Darboux images by using technics of the singularity theory. A new discrete matrix spectral problem with two arbitrary constants is introduced. The corresponding two-parameter integrable lattice soliton equation is obtained through the discrete zero curvature representation, and the resulting integrable lattice equation reduce to the Toda lattice in rational form for a special choice of the parameters. A Darboux transformation (DT) for the lattice soliton equation is constructed. As an application, an explicit solution of the two-parameter lattice soliton equation is presented.  相似文献

We show that one can define a spectral curve for the Cauchy-Riemann operator on a punctured elliptic curve under appropriate boundary conditions. The algebraic curves thus obtained arise, for example, as irreducible components of the spectral curves of minimal tori with planar ends in ?3. It turns out that these curves coincide with the spectral curves of certain elliptic KP solitons studied by Krichever.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the sequence of the principal-directional curves of a curve γ and define the slant helix of order n (n-SLH) of the curve in Euclidean 3-space. The notion is an extension of the notion of slant helix. We present an important formula that determines if the nth principal-directional curve of γ can be the slant helix of order n (n ≥ 1). As an application of singularity theory, we study the singularities classifications of the Darboux developable of nth principal-directional curve of γ . It is demonstrated that the formula plays a key role in characterizing the singularities of the Darboux developables of the nth principal-directional curve of a curve γ .  相似文献

Studies of near periodic patterns in many self-organizing physical and biological systems give rise to a nonlocal geometric problem in the entire space involving the mean curvature and the Newtonian potential. One looks for a set in space of the prescribed volume such that on the boundary of the set the sum of the mean curvature of the boundary and the Newtonian potential of the set, multiplied by a parameter, is constant. Despite its simple form, the problem has a rich set of solutions and its corresponding energy functional has a complex landscape. When the parameter is sufficiently large, there exists a solution that consists of two tori: a larger torus and a smaller torus. Due to the axisymmetry, the problem is formulated on a half plane. A variant of the Lyapunov–Schmidt procedure is developed to reduce the problem to minimizing the energy of the set of two exact tori, as an approximate solution, with respect to their radii. A re-parameterization argument shows that the double tori so obtained indeed solves the equation of mean curvature and Newtonian potential. One also obtains the asymptotic formulae for the radii of the tori in terms of the parameter. This double tori set is the first known disconnected solution.  相似文献

A new N-fold Darboux transformation for two integrable equations is constructed with the help of a gauge transformation for the spectral problem proposed by Qiao [Z.J. Qiao, Phys. Lett. A 192 (1994) 316-322]. By the Darboux transformation, explicit soliton and multi-soliton solutions for the two equations are obtained. In particular, soliton and complexiton solutions are shown through some figures.  相似文献

The Darboux transformation method with 4×4 spectral problem has more complexity than 2×2 and 3×3 spectral problems. In this paper, we start from a new discrete spectral problem with a 4×4 Lax pairs and construct a lattice hierarchy by properly choosing an auxiliary spectral problem, which can be reduced to a new discrete soliton hierarchy. For the obtained lattice integrable coupling equation, we establish a Darboux transformation and apply the gauge transformation to a specific equation and then the explicit solutions of the lattice integrable coupling equation are obtained. We prove the existence of branched immersed constant mean curvature (CMC) 2-spheres in an arbitrary Riemannian 3-sphere for almost every prescribed mean curvature, and moreover for all prescribed mean curvatures when the 3-sphere is positively curved. To achieve this, we develop a min-max scheme for a weighted Dirichlet energy functional. There are three main ingredients in our approach: a bi-harmonic approximation procedure to obtain compactness of the new functional, a derivative estimate of the min-max values to gain energy upper bounds for min-max sequences for almost every choice of mean curvature, and a Morse index estimate to obtain another uniform energy bound required to reach the remaining constant mean curvatures in the presence of positive curvature.  相似文献

We find out upper bounds for the first eigenvalue of the stability operator for compact constant mean curvature orientable surfaces immersed in a Riemannian Killing submersion. As a consequence, the strong stability of such surfaces is studied. We also characterize constant mean curvature Hopf tori as the only ones attaining the bound in certain cases.  相似文献
