For positive integers N1 , N2 , . . . , Nn , let L = Zn + A and Λ = N1Z ×···× NnZ + Γ be two rational periodic sets, where A(1/N1 )Z ×···× (1/Nn)Z and ΓZn are finite sets with (A-A) ∩ Zn = {0} and (Γ-Γ) ∩ (N1Z ×···× NnZ) = {0}. In this note, we shall determine conditions under which the tiling set L has universal spectrum Λ. We first obtain a criterion of universal spectra. This criterion combined with the properties of compatible pair yields many necessary and sufficient conditions for Λ to be a universal spectrum for L. We then show that, under some mild additional conditions, the conjecture of Lagarias and Szabó is true. The results here extend the corresponding results of Lagarias, Szabó and Wang.  相似文献

We study the strength of some combinatorial principles weaker than Ramsey theorem for pairs over RCA0. First, we prove that Rainbow Ramsey theorem for pairs does not imply Thin Set theorem for pairs. Furthermore, we get some other related results on reverse mathematics using the same method. For instance, Rainbow Ramsey theorem for pairs is strictly weaker than ErdSs- Moser theorem under RCA0.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss a special class of sets of bivariate empirical points, namely, numerical cartesian sets. We find that the stable quotient bases for numerical cartesian sets are unique if they exist. Furthermore, the corresponding border bases are the unique stable border bases for the vanishing ideals of numerical cartesian sets.  相似文献

A clique-transversal set D of a graph G is a set of vertices of G such that D meets all cliques of G.The clique-transversal number,denoted by τC(G),is the minimum cardinality of a clique-transversal set in G.In this paper,we first present a lower bound on τC(G) and characterize the extremal graphs achieving the lower bound for a connected(claw,K4)-free 4-regular graph G.Furthermore,we show that for any 2-connected(claw,K4)-free 4-regular graph G of order n,its clique-transversal number equals to [n/3].  相似文献

Geometric partial differential equations of level-set form are usually constructed by a variational method using either Dirac delta function or co-area formula in the energy functional to be minimized. However, the equations derived by these two approaches are not consistent. In this paper, we present a third approach for constructing the level-set form equations. By representing various differential geometry quantities and differential geometry operators in terms of the implicit surface, we are able to reformulate three classes of parametric geometric partial differential equations (second-order, fourth-order and sixth- order) into the level-set forms. The reformulation of the equations is generic and simple, and the resulting equations are consistent with their parametric form counterparts. We further prove that the equations derived using co-area formula are also consistent with the parametric forms. However, these equations are of much complicated forms than these given by the equations we derived.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a countable family of surjective mappings {Tn}n∈N satisfying certain quasi-contractive conditions. We also construct a convergent sequence { Xn } n c∈Nby the quasi-contractive conditions of { Tn } n ∈N and the boundary condition of a given complete and closed subset of a cone metric space X with convex structure, and then prove that the unique limit x" of {xn}n∈N is the unique common fixed point of {Tn}n∈N. Finally, we will give more generalized common fixed point theorem for mappings {Ti,j}i,j∈N. The main theorems in this paper generalize and improve many known common fixed point theorems for a finite or countable family of mappings with quasi-contractive conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, we first show that for every mapping $f$ from a metric space $Ω$ to itself which is continuous off a countable subset of $Ω,$ there exists a nonempty closed separable subspace $S ⊂ Ω$ so that $f|_S$ is again a self mapping on $S.$ Therefore, both the fixed point property and the weak fixed point property of a nonempty closed convex set in a Banach space are separably determined. We then prove that every separable subspace of $c_0(\Gamma)$ (for any set $\Gamma$) is again lying in $c_0.$ Making use of these results, we finally presents a simple proof of the famous result: Every non-expansive self-mapping defined on a nonempty weakly compact convex set of $c_0(\Gamma)$ has a fixed point.  相似文献

For a self-similar set E satisfying the open set condition,upper convex density is an important concept for the computation of its Hausdorff measure,and it is well known that the set of relative interior points with upper convex density 1 has a full Hausdorff measure.But whether the upper convex densities of E at all the relative interior points are equal to 1? In other words,whether there exists a relative interior point of E such that the upper convex density of E at this point is less than 1? In this paper,the authors construct a self-similar set satisfying the open set condition,which has a relative interior point with upper convex density less than 1.Thereby,the above problem is sufficiently answered.  相似文献

A Krasnosel’skii-type theorem for compact sets that are starshaped via staircase paths may be extended to compact sets that are starshaped via orthogonally convex paths: Let S be a nonempty compact planar set having connected complement. If every two points of S are visible via orthogonally convex paths from a common point of S, then S is starshaped via orthogonally convex paths. Moreover, the associated kernel Ker S has the expected property that every two of its points are joined in Ker S by an orthogonally convex path. If S is an arbitrary nonempty planar set that is starshaped via orthogonally convex paths, then for each component C of Ker S, every two of points of C are joined in C by an orthogonally convex path. A set is finitely starshaped if any finite subset of is totally visible from some point of . It is well known that in a finite-dimensional linear space, a closed finitely starshaped set which is not starshaped must be unbounded. It is proved here that such a set must admit at least one direction of recession. This fact clarifies the structure of such sets and allows the study of properties of their visibility elements, well known in the case of starshaped sets. A characterization of planar finitely starshaped sets by means of its convex components is obtained. Some plausible conjectures are disproved by means of counterexamples.  相似文献

As a discrete analogue of Aleksandrov's projection theorem, it is natural to ask the following question: Can an o-symmetric convex lattice set of the integer lattice Z n be uniquely determined by its lattice projection counts? In 2005, Gardner, Gronchi and Zong discovered a counterexample with cardinality 11 in the plane. In this paper, we will show that it is the only counterexample in Z2, up to unimodular transformations and with cardinality not larger than 17.  相似文献

In this paper, the author studies the coarse embedding into uniformly convex Banach spaces. The author proves that the property of coarse embedding into Banach spaces can be preserved under taking the union of the metric spaces under certain conditions. As an application, for a group G strongly relatively hyperbolic to a subgroup H,the author proves that B(n) = {g ∈ G | |g|S∪H≤ n} admits a coarse embedding into a uniformly convex Banach space if H does.  相似文献

We consider the space of non-expansive mappings on a bounded, closed and convex subset of a Banach space equipped with the metric of uniform convergence. We show that the set of strict contractions is a σ-porous subset. If the underlying Banach space is separable, we exhibit a σ-porous subset of the space of non-expansive mappings outside of which all mappings attain the maximal Lipschitz constant one at typical points of their domain.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of a starshaped set-valued function, and relate it to convex set-valued functions. We prove a theorem which, in the convex case, implies that single-valuedness is exceptional if the function is not everywhere single-valued. A second result shows a remarkable costantness of images for starshaped set-valued functions. Both theorems were inspired from a result of Deutsch and Singer, which they strengthen.  相似文献

On a fixed closed time interval we consider a quasilinear pursuit differential game with a convex compact target set under a phase constraint in the form of a convex closed set. We construct a convex compact guaranteed capture set similar to an alternating Pontryagin sum and define the guaranteed piecewise-programmed strategy of the pursuer ensuring the hitting of the target set by the phase vector satisfying the phase constraint in finite time. Under certain conditions, we prove the convergence of the constructed alternating sum in the Hausdorff metric to a convex compact set, which is an analog of the alternating Pontryagin integral for the differential game.  相似文献

In recent years, there have been considerable interests in the study of when a closed convex subset K of a Banach space has the fixed point property, i.e. whenever T is a non-expansive mapping from K into K, then K contains a fixed point for T. In this paper we shall study fixed point properties of semigroups of non-expansive mappings on weakly compact convex subsets of a Banach space (or, more generally, a locally convex space). By considering the classes of bicyclic semigroups we answer two open questions, one posted earlier by the first author in 1976 (Dalhousie) and the other posted by T. Mitchell in 1984 (Virginia). We also provide a characterization for the existence of a left invariant mean on the space of weakly almost periodic functions on separable semitopological semigroups in terms of fixed point property for non-expansive mappings related to another open problem raised by the first author in 1976.  相似文献

It is shown that the problem of the best uniform approximation in the Hausdorff metric of a continuous set-valued map with finite-dimensional compact convex images by constant set-valued maps whose images are balls in some norm can be reduced to a visual geometric problem.
