The main goal of this article is to understand the qualitative appearances of regular arrays of pulses that come up in nonintegrable systems in a variety of contexts, particularly in fluid dynamics. It is shown that even nonintegrable systems have a kind of particle dynamics made up of solitary waves. But the interaction of these solitary waves is not absolutely “clean” as in the case of the KdV and other integrable equations.  相似文献

Methods for the forward and exact inverse computation of digital data are developed using reversible fully discrete nonlinear evolution equations. Some elementary examples are presented. A special case of the evolution equation presented here reduces to well‐known linear feedback shift registers (LFSRs). LFSRs and various nonlinear versions (NLFSRs) have been studied and used in a variety of applications.  相似文献

The paper uses empirical process techniques to study the asymptotics of the least-squares estimator (LSE) for the fitting of a nonlinear regression function. By combining and extending ideas of Wu and Van de Geer, it establishes new consistency and central limit theorems that hold under only second moment assumptions on the errors. An application to a delicate example of Wu's illustrates the use of the new theorems, leading to a normal approximation to the LSE with unusual logarithmic rescalings.  相似文献

In the practice of block cipher design, there seems to have grown a consensus about the diffusion function that designers choose linear functions with large branch numbers to achieve provable bounds against differential and linear cryptanalysis. In this paper, we propose two types of nonlinear functions as alternative diffusing components. One is based on a nonlinear code with parameters (16,256,6) which is known as a Kerdock code. The other is a general construction of nonlinear functions based on the T-functions, in particular, two automatons with modular addition operations. We show that the nonlinear functions possess good diffusion properties; specifically, the nonlinear function based on a Kerdock code has a better branch number than any linear counterparts, while the automatons achieve the same branch number as a linear near-MDS matrix. The advantage of adopting nonlinear diffusion layers in block ciphers is that, those functions provide extra confusion effect while a comparable performance in the diffusion effect is maintained. As an illustration, we show the application of the nonlinear diffusion functions in two example ciphers, where a 4-round differential characteristic with the optimal number of active Sboxes has a probability significantly lower (\(2^{16}\) and \(2^{10}\) times, respectively) than that of a similar cipher with a linear diffusion layer. As a result, it sheds light upon an alternative strategy of designing lightweight building blocks.  相似文献

We study statistical properties of a class of non-linear models for regression analysis of count time series. Under mild conditions, it is shown that a perturbed version of the model is geometrically ergodic and possesses moments of any order. This result turns out to be instrumental on deriving large sample properties of the maximum likelihood estimators of the regression parameters. The theory is illustrated with examples.  相似文献

The decomposition method (G. Adomian, “Stochastic Systems,” Academic Press, New York/London, 1983; G. Adomian, “Stochastic Systems II,” in press) (and earlier work of Adomian referenced therein) allows solution without linearization of problems normally requiring the self-consistent field technique. The latter technique can provide a sufficiently accurate approximation in weakly coupled plasma, but the decomposition method of Adomian provides a superior and physically preferable methodology for the general case.  相似文献

针对某型民用航空发动机双频带激励特点,建立了单自由度线性振子耦合非线性能量阱(nonlinear energy sink,NES)的动力学模型.根据典型双转子发动机在巡航状态下低、高特征频率比(1∶4.74),为系统设定双频带简谐外激励.利用四阶Runge-Kutta算法,研究了耦合NES振子时系统的振动抑制特征,并从外激励频率对系统主振子动能、系统总体能量的影响等方面,与未耦合NES系统、耦合线性动力吸振器两种情况下的数值计算结果进行对比分析.研究结果表明NES对双频带外激励具有更好的振动抑制效果,用NES降低航空发动机振动有可行性.  相似文献

In nonlinear least-square problems with nonlinear constraints, the function , where f 2 is a nonlinear vector function, is to be minimized subject to the nonlinear constraints f 1(x)=0. This problem is ill-posed if the first-order KKT conditions do not define a locally unique solution. We show that the problem is ill-posed if either the Jacobian of f 1 or the Jacobian of J is rank-deficient (i.e., not of full rank) in a neighborhood of a solution satisfying the first-order KKT conditions. Either of these ill-posed cases makes it impossible to use a standard Gauss–Newton method. Therefore, we formulate a constrained least-norm problem that can be used when either of these ill-posed cases occur. By using the constant-rank theorem, we derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for a local minimum of this minimum-norm problem. The results given here are crucial for deriving methods solving the rank-deficient problem.  相似文献

This paper proposes nonlinear Lagrangians based on modified Fischer-Burmeister NCP functions for solving nonlinear programming problems with inequality constraints. The convergence theorem shows that the sequence of points generated by this nonlinear Lagrange algorithm is locally convergent when the penalty parameter is less than a threshold under a set of suitable conditions on problem functions, and the error bound of solution, depending on the penalty parameter, is also established. It is shown that the condition number of the nonlinear Lagrangian Hessian at the optimal solution is proportional to the controlling penalty parameter. Moreover, the paper develops the dual algorithm associated with the proposed nonlinear Lagrangians. Numerical results reported suggest that the dual algorithm based on proposed nonlinear Lagrangians is effective for solving some nonlinear optimization problems.  相似文献

Next, we establish the linearization of bounded energy solutions in the spirit of Gérard [P. Gérard, Oscillations and concentration effects in semilinear dispersive wave equations, J. Funct. We introduce a nonlinear counterpart of the classical Beltrami equation and study the main features of its solutions. It involves directional dilatations connected with a priory fixed point and a class of mappings called ring Q-homeomorphisms with respect to p-module. A finitely generated quadratic module or preordering in the real polynomial ring is called stable, if it admits a certain degree bound on the sums of squares in the representation of polynomials. Stability, first defined explicitly in Powers and Scheiderer (Adv Geom 1, 71–88, 2001), is a very useful property. It often implies that the quadratic module is closed; furthermore, it helps settling the Moment Problem, solves the Membership Problem for quadratic modules and allows applications of methods from optimization to represent nonnegative polynomials. We provide sufficient conditions for finitely generated quadratic modules in real polynomial rings of several variables to be stable. These conditions can be checked easily. For a certain class of semi-algebraic sets, we obtain that the nonexistence of bounded polynomials implies stability of every corresponding quadratic module. As stability often implies the non-solvability of the Moment Problem, this complements the result from Schmüdgen (J Reine Angew Math 558, 225–234, 2003), which uses bounded polynomials to check the solvability of the Moment Problem by dimensional induction. We also use stability to generalize a result on the Invariant Moment Problem from Cimpric et al. (Trans Am Math Soc, to appear).  相似文献

Weakly nonlinear two-dimensional roll cells in Bnard convectionare examined in the limit as the wavenumber a of the roll cellsbecomes large. In this limit the second harmonic contributionsto the solution become negligible, and a flow develops wherethe fundamental vortex terms and the correction to the meanare determined simultaneously, rather than sequentially as inthe weakly nonlinear case. Extension of this structure to Rayleighnumbers O(a3) above the neutral curve is shown to be possible,with the resulting flow field having a form very similar tothat for strongly nonlinear vortices in a centripetally unstableflow. The flow in this strongly nonlinear regime consists ofa core region, and boundary layers of thickness O(a–1)at the walls. The core region occupies most of the thicknessof the fluid layer and only mean terms and cos az terms playa role in determining the flow; in the boundary layer all harmonicsof the vortex motion are present. Numerical solutions of thewall layer equations are presented and it is also shown thatthe heat transfer across the layer is significantly greaterthan in the conduction state.  相似文献

We formulate a geometric nonlinear theory of the mechanics of accretion. In this theory, the material manifold of an accreting body is represented by a time-dependent Riemannian manifold with a time-independent metric that at each point depends on the state of deformation at that point at its time of attachment to the body, and on the way the new material is added to the body. We study the incompatibilities induced by accretion through the analysis of the material metric and its curvature in relation to the foliated structure of the accreted body. Balance laws are discussed and the initial boundary value problem of accretion is formulated. The particular cases where the growth surface is either fixed or traction-free are studied and some analytical results are provided. We numerically solve several accretion problems and calculate the residual stresses in nonlinear elastic bodies induced from accretion.

The paper studies regularity properties of set-valued mappings between metric spaces. In the context of metric regularity, nonlinear models correspond to nonlinear dependencies of estimates of error bounds in terms of residuals. Among the questions addressed in the paper are equivalence of the corresponding concepts of openness and “pseudo-Hölder” behavior, general and local regularity criteria with special emphasis on “regularity of order $k$ ”, for local settings, and variational methods to extimate regularity moduli in case of length range spaces.
