We studied the conducting and mesomorphic behavior of a dendritic‐linear copolymer on adding hydrophilic additives and lithium salts. For the preparation of the pristine block copolymer ( A ), a click reaction of a hydrophobic Y‐shaped dendron block and a hydrophilic linear poly(ethylene oxide) coil with Mn = 750 g mol?1 was performed. For ionic block copolymer samples ( 1–3 ), a hydrophilic compound ( B ) bearing two tri(ethylene oxide) chains was used as the additive. In all ionic samples, the lithium concentration per ethylene oxide was chosen to be 0.05. As characterized by polarized optical microscopy and small angle X‐ray scattering techniques, copolymer A showed a hexagonal columnar mesophase. On addition of lithium‐doped additives, ionic samples 1 and 2 with the additive weight fractions (fw) of 10 and 20%, columnar and bicontinuous structures coexisted in the liquid crystalline phase. On the other hand, ionic sample 3 with fw = 30% displayed only a bicontinuous cubic mesophase. Based on the impedance results, with increasing the amount of additives, the conductivity value increased from 3.80 × 10?6 to 2.34 × 10?5 S cm?1 at 35 °C. The conductivity growth could be explained by the interplay of the plasticization effect of the mobile additive and the morphological transformation from 1D to 3D of the ion‐conducting cylindrical cores. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new methacrylic monomer, 4‐nitro‐3‐methylphenyl methacrylate (NMPM) was prepared by reacting 4‐nitro‐3‐methyl phenol dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) in the presence of triethylamine as a catalyst. Copolymerization of NMPM with methyl methacrylate (MMA) has been carried out in methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) by free radical solution polymerization at 70±1°C utilizing benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator. Poly (NMPM‐co‐MMA) copolymers were characterized by FT‐IR, 1H‐NMR and 13C‐NMR spectroscopy. The molecular weights (Mw and Mn) and polydispersity indices (Mw/Mn) of the polymers were determined using a gel permeation chromatograph. The glass transition temperatures (Tg) of the copolymers were determined by a differential scanning calorimeter, showing that Tg increases with MMA content in the copolymer. Thermogravimetric analysis of the polymers, performed under nitrogen, shows that the stability of the copolymer increases with an increase in NMPM content. The solubility of the polymers was tested in various polar and non‐polar solvents. Copolymer compositions were determined by 1H‐NMR spectroscopy by comparing the integral peak heights of well separated aromatic and aliphatic proton peaks. The monomer reactivity ratios were determined by the Fineman‐Ross (r1 =7.090:r2=0.854), Kelen‐Tudos (r1=7.693: r2=0.852) and extended Kelen‐Tudos methods (r1=7.550: r2= 0.856).  相似文献

Summary Aminolyses of 4-dialkylamino-2-methylthiothiopyranes halides with ammonia leads to 4-amino-2-dialkylaminothiopyranylium halides. On treatment with alkali these products are hydrolyzed to N,N-dialkyl-3-amino-2,4-hexadienthioamides, which react with peroxide under oxidative cyclization to 5-dialkylamino-1,2-thiazoles. In order to determine the structures of the unsaturated thioamides and isothiazoles13C-NMR-spectroscopic analysis and a single crystal X-ray structure analysis of 5-dimethylamino-3-(2-methyl-1-propenyl)-1,2-thiazole (6 a) at 100K were carried out: C9H14N2S,M r=182.28, monoclinic, P 21/a,a=11.622(2),b=6.303 (1),c=13.678(2), =104.49(3)°,V=970.1(3)Å3,Z=4,d x=1.248 g/cm3, =27.0 mm–1,R=4.93%,R w=4.84% (1 672 observations, 157 parameters).

Adiabatic compressibility measurements are reported on solutions in hydrocarbon solvents of a low Mw high ethylene content, and of both high and low Mw low ethylene content ethylene–propylene copolymers. In all solutions the observed adiabatic compressibility was lower than the solvent value by an increment which was a function of the solvent type. Comparison of the data for a high and low molecular weight sample of the same copolymer indicates no molecular weight effects. Changes in the composition of the copolymer, as indicated by NMR spectroscopy, have only a slight effect on the adiabatic compressibility. The dominant feature of these studies is the apparent correlation of the chain length of the alkane solvent with the decrement in the compressibility.  相似文献

The production of pullulan from beet molasses by a pigment-free strain of Aureobasidium pullulans on shake-flask culture was investigated. Combined pretreatment of molasses with sulfuric acid and activated carbon to remove potential fermentation inhibitors present in molasses resulted in a maximum pullulan concentration of 24 g/L, a biomass dry wt of 14 g/L, a pullulan yield of 52.5%, and a sugar utilization of 92% with optimum fermentation conditions (initial sugar concentration of 50 g/L and initial pH of 7.0). The addition of other nutrients as carbon and nitrogen supplements (olive oil, ammonium sulfate, yeast extract) did not further improve the production of the exopolysaccharides. Structural characterization of the isolated polysaccharides from the fermentation broths by 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and pullulanase digestion combined with size-exclusion chromatography confirmed the identity of pullulan and the homogeneity (>93% dry basis) of the elaborated polysaccharides by the microorganism. Using multiangle laser light scattering and refractive index detectors in conjunction with high-performance size-exclusion chromatography molecular size distributions and estimates of the molecular weight (M w =2.1−4.1×105), root mean square of the radius of gyration (R g =30−38 nm), and polydispersity index (M w /M n =1.4−2.4) were obtained. The fermentation products of molasses pretreated with sulfuric acid and/or activated carbon were more homogeneous and free of contaminating proteins. In the concentration range of 2.8−10.0 (w/v), the solution’s rheologic behavior of the isolated pullulans was almost Newtonian (within 1 and 1200 s−1 at 20°C); a slight shear thinning was observed at 10.0 (w/v) for the high molecular weight samples. Overall, beet molasses pretreated with sulfuric acid and activated carbon appears as an attractive fermentation medium for the production of pullulan by A. pullulans.  相似文献

Abstract

4‐(3′,4′‐Dimethoxycinnamoyl)phenyl acrylate (DMCPA) containing pendant chalcone moiety was copolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA) by radical polymerization in ethyl methyl ketone at 70°C under a nitrogen atmosphere using benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as a free radical initiator. The prepared polymer was characterized by UV, FT‐IR, 1H‐NMR, and 13C‐NMR spectra. The composition of the copolymer was determined using 1H‐NMR analysis. The monomer reactivity ratios of copolymerization were determined using conventional linearization methods such as Fineman–Ross (r 1 = 0.26 and r 2 = 0.61), Kelen–Tudos (r 1 = 0.26 and r 2 = 0.61), and Ext. Kelen–Tudos (r 1 = 0.23 and r 2 = 0.59), and a non‐linear error‐in‐variables model (EVM) method using the computer program RREVM (r 1 = 0.2541 and r 2 = 0.6094). The molecular weights (M w and M n) of the copolymers were determined by gel permeation chromatography. Thermogravimetric analysis of the polymers in air reveals that the stability of the copolymers decreases with an increase in the mole fraction of MMA in the copolymers. The solubility of the polymers was tested in various polar and non‐polar solvents. The glass transition temperature of the copolymers was determined as a function of copolymer composition. The copolymers were sensitive to UV light and became crosslinked after irradiation with 254 nm light.  相似文献

The quasi‐living copolymerization of ethylene with propylene was achieved by using N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligated vanadium complex ( V3 , VOCl3[1,3‐(2,6‐iPr2C6H3)2(NCH?)2C:]) due to the stabilization of active center by the introduction of bulky and electron rich NHC ligand with bulky isopropyl substituents at the ortho positions of the phenyl rings. The weight‐average molecular weight (Mw) of the resulting copolymer increases linearly with its weight in 20 min. The ultra‐high‐molecular‐weight (UHMW) ethylene‐propylene copolymer (Mw = 1612 kg mol?1) can be synthesized with V3 /Et3Al2Cl3 catalytic system. The novel complex V4′ (VCl3[1,3‐(2,4,6‐Me3C6H2)2(NCH?)2C:]·2THF) was constructed by the introduction of two coordinated tetrahydrofuran molecules and decrease in steric hindrance at the ortho positions of phenyl rings. Polypropylene (PP)/Ti-MCM-41 nanocomposites were prepared by isospecific propylene polymerization with Ti-MCM-41/Al(i-C4H9)3 catalyst. The cross polarization/magic angle spinning (CP/MAS) 13C NMR spectrum of the composite was similar to that of the conventional isotactic PP, and the decrease in the pore volume of Ti-MCM-41 in the nanocomposites, as measured by N2 adsorption, was consistent with the value calculated from the weight loss in the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) curve; both these facts attest to propylene polymerization within the mesopores of Ti-MCM-41. Alkali treatment followed by extraction with o-dichlorobenzene allows us to extract the confined PP out of the Ti-MCM-41 mesopores. Although the PP/Ti-MCM-41 nanocomposites do not exhibit a crystalline melting point, the same PP when extracted from the mesopores showed a clear melting point at 154.7 °C; this indicates that the crystallization of PP confined in mesopores is strongly hindered. For the PP polymerized within the confinement, the molecular weight (Mw) and molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) were 84,000 and 4.3, respectively; these values were considerably smaller than those of the PP polymerized concurrently outside the Ti-MCM-41 mesopores (Mw = 200,000–450,000, Mw/Mn = 40–75). A multiblock copolymer consisting of hard (poly(arylene ether sulfone)) and soft (poly(alkyl disulfide)) segments was successfully synthesized by oxidative coupling of the corresponding thiol‐terminated oligomers. Its structure was confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The GPC data (Mw = 82,000, Mw/Mn = 2.7) and inherent viscosity (0.67 dL g−1) indicated the formation of a high‐molecular‐weight multiblock copolymer, while AFM and DSC indicated a microphase‐separated morphology. Tensile testing of the multiblock copolymer films showed a large elongation at break, which is characteristic of microphase‐separated hard/soft multiblock copolymers. Over 90% of the elongation at break of damaged samples (notched or cut) was recovered by UV irradiation. The elongation recovery was proportional to the UV irradiation energy, and the high recovery was achieved by relatively weak irradiation (<170 J cm−2). The high content of disulfide bonds in the multiblock copolymer resulted in a lower self‐healing energy. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Degree of branching (DB) of AB2‐type hyperbranched polymer has been studied using 13C‐NMR spectroscopy. For this purpose, a series of hyperbranched polyamides based on 3,5‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)benzoic acid differing in molecular weight was prepared by adopting a fractional precipitation technique. A model compound mimicking exactly the terminal and dendritic units present in the hyperbranched polymer (HBP) was also synthesized in high yield. 13C‐NMR spectra of the polymers and the model compound were recorded under exacting experimental conditions. With the help of 13C‐NMR spectrum of model compound and the integration values, peaks for terminal (T) units, dendritic (D) units and linear (L) units present in the HBP have been assigned. The spectra of low molecular weight fractions clearly showed that the linear unit is first formed and then the dendritic unit. Plots of mole fraction of individual unit against molecular weight (Mw) and DB against molecular weight (Mw) are constructed. For the first time, it is found that there is a critical molecular weight (the value calculated is between 3200–3500 for the chosen real system) below, which DB is dependent on molecular weight and above which it becomes independent. A new term T+D/L, which has a maximum value of 20 and minimum of 1, characterizing all AB2‐type hyperbranched polymers in general, has been introduced.  相似文献

Twelve amphiphilic polymers were synthesized using poly(ethylene glycols) (PEGs) of different molecular weights, viz. 300, 600 and1000 as hydrophilic block and aliphatic diacids namely glutaric acid, adipic acid, pimelic acid and suberic acid as hydrophobic block in presence of catalyst Conc. H2SO4. Synthesized polyesters were characterized by using 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and IR spectroscopy. Micellar sizes of the polymers were determined using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) which ranged from 127.5–354 nm. Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) results confirm the findings of DLS. Critical Micelle Concentrations (CMC) of the synthesized polymers were determined using electrical conductivity meter which ranged from 112 to 155 mg L?1.  相似文献

New representatives of chelate-type titanium(IV) salicylideneaniline complexes with bis(5-methyl-2-furyl)methyl substituents in the aniline fragment are synthesized. In the presence of poly(methylalumoxane), these complexes catalyze ethylene and propylene polymerization. The effect of the position of substituents in the ligands on the activities of the catalysts is studied. High-molecular-weight linear polyethylene (M w ≈ 172200–300000, M w/M n ≈ 2–3) and high-molecular-weight atactic elastic polypropylene (M w ≈ 1000000, M w/M n ≥ 7.0) are obtained. The molecular structure of polyethylene (PE) samples with various comonomers including propylene, 1-buteneand 1-hexene was investigated by DSC and ~(13)C-NMR techniques. The density of the samples varies from 0.948 g/cm~3 to0.917 g/cm~3, and the molecular weight determined by the GPC method is in the range of 1~2×10~5. The branch point contentof the samples was determined by ~(13)C-NMR measurements and was found to be less than 20 per 1000 C atoms along themain chain. Crystallization segregation DSC technique (CSDSC) was used to characterize the branch point distribution or thesegment length distribution of PEs. The crystallization segregation was performed in a successive annealing process atdecreasing temperatures. The interval of two successive annealing temperatures was 6 K, and the time length of eachannealing step was 2.5 h. The CSDSC results clearly indicate that all the PE samples used, including some metallocene PEs,more or less exhibit their non-uniformity in segment length distribution, and bimodal or multimodal CSDSC curves wereusually observed. For quantitative characterization of the CSDSC curves and the segment length distribution two parameters,the average melting point, T_(mAV), and the root-mean-square deviation of melting temperature, (ΔT_(mAV)~2)~(1/2), were proposed.T_(mAV) is corresponding to the average segment length due to branching and (ΔT_(mAV)~2)~(1/2) gives information about the width ofthe segment length distribution. Experimental results show that both the degree of average melting temperature depressionand the width of the distribution seem to increase with increasing the branching content and are dependent on the type ofcomonomers. Very good reproducibility and additivity of the CSDSC method were evidenced experimentally. It wasconcluded that the CSDSC technique is a sensitive and convenient method for characterizing the segment length distribution of branched polyethylenes and will be of great interest in structure-property relationship studies of crystalline polymers.  相似文献

Sixteen amphiphilic polymers were synthesized using poly(ethylene glycols) (PEGs) of different molecular weights, viz. 1000, 1500, 2000 and 4000 as hydrophilic block and linkers namely azelaic acid, suberic acid, terephthalic acid and glycolic acid as hydrophobic block in the presence of catalyst conc. H2SO4 out of which four with glycolic acid as linker are new. Synthesized polymers were characterized by using 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and IR spectroscopy. Micellar sizes of the polymers were determined using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) technique which ranged from 32.1–262.0 nm and confirmed by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) analysis. Molecular weights were determined using HORIBA SZ-100 scientific and varied from 6.5?×?102 to 6.5?×?103 Kilo Daltons(kDa) by Debye plot. Critical Micelle Concentrations (CMC) of the synthesized polymers was determined using electrical conductivity meter and it ranged from 105 to 125 milligrams per litre (mg L?1).  相似文献

Single-pulse 13C NMR spectra and spin-lattice relaxation times T1(1H), detected indirectly via 13C carbons, and T1(13C) were measured at 31°C for virgin pelletized and annealed polylactic acid (PLA) samples using the magic-angle spinning technique. The structural relaxation resulting in more regular crystals with narrower conformation distribution and increase in the lamellae thickness and crystallinity brought about by annealing at 100°C was deduced from the narrowing of the 13C NMR lines and proton spin-lattice relaxation times T1(1H). The spin-lattice relaxation times T1(13C) related to the respective carbons of the α-polymorph of PLA are also discussed in the study.  相似文献

The unambiguous assignment of all signals of the1H-NMR- and13C-NMR-spectrum is possible by 2D-1H-13C-shift correlation and 2D-INADEQUATE. The synthesis of arborescent styrenic homopolymers and copolymers was achieved by anionic polymerization and grafting. Styrene and p‐(3‐butenyl)styrene were first copolymerized using sec‐butyllithium in toluene, to generate a linear copolymer with a weight‐average molecular weight Mw = 4000 and Mw/Mn = 1.05. The pendant double bonds of the copolymer were then epoxidized with m‐chloroperbenzoic acid. A comb‐branched (or arborescent generation G0) copolymer was obtained by coupling the epoxidized substrate with living styrene‐p‐(3‐butenyl)styrene copolymer chains with Mw ≈ 5000 in a toluene/tetrahydrofuran mixture. Further cycles of epoxidation and coupling reactions while maintaining Mw ≈ 5000 for the side chains yielded arborescent copolymers of generations G1–G3. A series of arborescent styrene homopolymers was also obtained by grafting Mw ≈ 5000 polystyrene side chains onto the linear and G0–G2 copolymer substrates. Size exclusion chromatography measurements showed that the graft polymers have low polydispersity indices (Mw/Mn = 1.02–1.15) and molecular weights increasing geometrically over successive generations. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two different polybenzimidazole (PBI) samples have been investigated in order to correlate the differences in molecular weight distribution (MWD) with changes in the elastic modulus and strength of undrawn and drawn fibers. It has been found that within the weight-average molecular weight range (7,000 ≤ Mw ≤ 13,000) there was no obvious correlation with Mw and Mn. However, one sample had a narrow unimodal molecular weight distribution and the other a wide bimodal molecular weight distribution. The small percentage of high molecular weight present in the latter sample gave its fibers better mechanical properties. X-ray diffraction studies showed that the orientation in both drawn fiber samples was equal. This isolated the effects of the molecular weight distribution on mechanical properties.  相似文献
