Isostructural Li2MTi6O14 (M=Sr, Ba) materials, prepared by a solid state reaction method, have been investigated as insertion electrodes for lithium battery applications. These titanate compounds have a structure that consists of a three-dimensional network of corner- and edge-shared [TiO6] octahedra, 11-coordinate polyhedra for the alkali-earth ions, and [LiO4] tetrahedra in tunnels that also contain vacant tetrahedral and octahedral sites. Electrochemical data show that these compounds are capable of reversibly intercalating four lithium atoms in a three-stage process between 1.4 and 0.5 V vs. metallic lithium. The electrodes provide a practical capacity of approximately 140 mAh/g; they are, therefore, possible alternative anode materials to the lithium titanate spinel, Li4Ti5O12. The lithium intercalation mechanism and crystal structure of Li2MTi6O14 (M=Sr, Ba) electrodes are discussed and compared with the electrochemical and structural properties of Li4Ti5O12. The area-specific impedance (ASI) of Li/Li2SrTi6O14 cells was found to be significantly lower than that of Li/Li4Ti5O12 cells.  相似文献

Lithium rich layered oxide (LRLO) has been considered as one of the promising cathodes for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The high voltage and large capacity of LRLO depend on Li2MnO3 phase. To ameliorate the electrochemical performance of Li2MnO3, also written as Li(Li1/3Mn2/3)O2, we propose a strategy to substitute Mn4+ and Li+ in Mn/Li transition metal layer with Ti4+, which can stabilize the structure of Li2MnO3 by inhibiting the excessive oxidation of O2? above 4.5 V. More significantly, the unequal-valent substitution brings about the emergence of interlayer Li vacancies, which can promote the Li-ion diffusion based on the enlarged interlayer and increase the capacity by activating the Mn3+/4+ redox. We designed Li0.7[Li1/3Mn2/3]0.7Ti0.3O2 with high interlayer Li vacancies, which presents a high capacity (290 mAh/g at 10 mA/g) and stable cycling performance (84% over 60 cycles at 50 mA/g). We predict that this strategy will be helpful to further improve the electrochemical performance of LRLOs.  相似文献

A new series of (Y2‐yLiy)Ti2O7‐y having an ordered pyrochlore phase was prepared by a solid state reaction method with a solid solution range of 0.05 ≥ y ≥ 0.10. Unit cell parameters obtained by the Rietveld refinement method shows that the a‐axis decreases linearly with increasing the amount of Li ion addition, indicating the successful incorporation of the Li ion into unit cell. The average x‐fractional coordinate of the O(1) site depends on the ionic radius ratio of r(A3+)/r(Ti4+) in the A2Ti2O7 with a pyrochlore phase. The Ti K‐edge XANES spectra of the (Y2‐yLiy)Ti2O7‐y show that the valence of the Ti ions is slightly less than 4 so that Ti is in the mixed valence state. Average particle size increases with increasing the amount of extra Li ion addition, which acts as a flux to lower the melting point of the materials.  相似文献

Zn2Ti3O8, as a new type of anode material for lithium-ion batteries, is attracting enormous attention because of its low cost and excellent safety. Though decent capacities have been reported, the electrochemical reaction mechanism of Zn2Ti3O8 has rarely been studied. In this work, a porous Zn2Ti3O8 anode with considerably high capacity (421 mAh/g at 100 mA/g and 209 mAh/g at 5000 mA/g after 1500 cycles) was reported, which is even higher than ever reported titanium-based anodes materials including Li4Ti5O12, TiO2 and Li2ZnTi3O8. Here, for the first time, the accurate theoretical capacity of Zn2Ti3O8 was confirmed to be 266.4 mAh/g. It was also found that both intercalation reaction and pseudocapacitance contribute to the actual capacity of Zn2Ti3O8, making it possibly higher than the theoretical value. Most importantly, the porous structure of Zn2Ti3O8 not only promotes the intercalation reaction, but also induces high pseudocapacitance capacity (225.4 mAh/g), which boosts the reversible capacity. Therefore, it is the outstanding pseudocapacitance capacity of porous Zn2Ti3O8 that accounts for high actual capacity exceeding the theoretical one. This work elucidates the superiorities of porous structure and provides an example in designing high-performance electrodes for lithium-ion batteries.  相似文献

A sol–gel method using Ti(OC4H9)4, LiCH3COO·2H2O, and La(NO3)3·6H2O as starting materials and ethyl acetoacetate as chelating agent to prepare pure and lanthanum (La)-doped Li4Ti5O12 is reported. The structure and morphology of the active materials characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analysis indicate that doping with a certain amount of La3+ does not affect the structure of Li4Ti5O12, but can restrain the agglomeration of the particles during heat treatment. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and galvanostatic charge–discharge cycling tests show that La-doped Li4Ti5O12 presents a much improved electrochemical performance due to a decrease in charge transfer resistance. At current densities of 1 and 5 C, the La-doped Li4Ti5O12 exhibits excellent reversible capacities of 156.16 and 150.79 mAh?g?1, respectively. The excellent rate capability and good cycling performance make La-doped Li4Ti5O12 a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries in energy storage systems.  相似文献

The powders of Li4/3Ti5/3O4/Ag composite were prepared by sol-gel technique. Structural identification, surface morphology and electrochemical properties of the powders were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and galvanostatic charge-discharge experiments. The results show that Li4/3Ti5/3O4/Ag composite derived from sol-gel is a composite of Li4/3Ti5/3O4 and silver. Li4/3Ti5/3O4/Ag composite shows higher specific capacity, higher columbic efficiency and lower polarization than Li4/3Ti5/3O4. The addition of silver greatly improves the cycleability of Li4/3Ti5/3O4, especially at higher charge-discharge rate.  相似文献

Developing an efficient in situ electrochemical cell for neutron diffraction of electrode materials for Li-ion batteries remains a major technical challenge. We recently published the results of the first experiment carried out with such a cell developed by our group. In order to improve the quality of data we optimized the preparation of the electrode, introduced a gradient in the carbon content, and controlled the porosity. Li4Ti5O12 was used as a model material to demonstrate the advantages of the new approach. 10 diffractograms were recorded in situ during the first electrochemical cycle and then refined to obtain the evolution of unit cell parameters, oxygen position, and of the quantitative ratio between Li4Ti5O12 and Li7Ti5O12.  相似文献

The sodium lithium titanate with composition Na2Li2Ti6O14 has been synthesized by a sol–gel method. Thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis (TG–DTA) of the thermal decomposition process of the precursor and X-ray diffraction (XRD) data indicate the crystallization of sodium lithium titanate has occurred at about 600 °C. Electrochemical lithium insertion into Na2Li2Ti6O14 for lithium ion battery has been investigated for the first time. These results indicate the discharge and charge potential plateaus are about 1.3 V. The initial discharge capacity is much higher than the charge capacity and irreversible capacity exists in the voltage window 1–3 V. Subsequently, the discharge capacity decreases slowly, but the charge capacity increases slightly in the following cycles. After a few cycles, the specific capacity remains almost constant values and the sample exhibits the excellent retention of capacity on cycling.  相似文献

Monodisperse Li4Ti5O12 hollow spheres were prepared by using carbon spheres as templates. Scanning electron microscopy images show hollow spheres that have an average outer diameter of 1.0 μm and an average wall thickness of 60 nm. Compared with Li4Ti5O12 solids, the hollow spherical Li4Ti5O12 exhibit an excellent rate capability and capacity retention and can be charged/discharged at 10 C (1.7 A g−1) with a specific capacity of 100 mA h g−1, and after 200 charge and discharge cycles at 2 C, their specific capacity remain very stable at 150 mA h g−1. It is believed that the hollow structure has a relatively large contact surface between Li4Ti5O12 and liquid electrolyte, resulting in a better electrochemical performance at high charge/discharge rate.  相似文献

Reasonably designing and synthesizing advanced electrode materials is significant to enhance the electrochemical performance of lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, a metal–organic framework (MOF, Mil-125) was used as a precursor and template to successfully synthesize the porous mooncake-shaped Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) anode material assembled from nanoparticles. Even more critical, SmF3 was used to modify the prepared porous mooncake-shaped LTO material. The SmF3-modified LTO maintained a porous mooncake-shaped structure with a large specific surface area, and the SmF3 nanoparticles were observed to be attach on the surface of the LTO material. It has been proven that the SmF3 modification can further facilitate the transition from Ti4+ to Ti3+, reduce the polarization of electrode, decrease charge transfer impedance (Rct) and solid electrolyte interface impedance (Rsei), and increase the lithium ion diffusion coefficient (DLi), thereby enhancing the electrochemical performance of LTO. Therefore, the porous mooncake-shaped LTO modified using 2 wt % SmF3 displays a large specific discharge capacity of 143.8 mAh g−1 with an increment of 79.16 % compared to pure LTO at a high rate of 10 C (1 C=170 mAh g−1), and shows a high retention rate of 96.4 % after 500 cycles at 5 C-rate.  相似文献

Porous lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12) fibers, composed of interconnected nanoparticles, are synthesized by thermally treating electrospun precursor fibers and utilized as an energy storage material for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The material is characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and thermal analysis. Scanning electron microscopy results show that the Li4Ti5O12 fibers calcined at 700?°C have an average diameter of 230?nm. Especially, the individual fiber is composed of nanoparticles with an average diameter of 47.5?nm. Electrochemical properties of the material are evaluated using cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results show that as-prepared Li4Ti5O12 exhibits good cycling capacity and rate capability. At the charge–discharge rate of 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 10, 20, 40, and 60?C, its discharge capacities are 172.4, 168.2, 163.3, 155.9, 138.7, 123.4, 108.8, and 90.4?mAh?g?1, respectively. After 300 cycles at 20?C, it remained at 120.1?mAh?g?1. The obtained results thus strongly support that the electrospun Li4Ti5O12 fibers could be one of the most promising candidate anode materials for lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles.  相似文献

Spinel Li4Ti5O12, known as a zero‐strain material, is capable to be a competent anode material for promising applications in state‐of‐art electrochemical energy storage devices (EESDs). Compared with commercial graphite, spinel Li4Ti5O12 offers a high operating potential of ∼1.55 V vs Li/Li+, negligible volume expansion during Li+ intercalation process and excellent thermal stability, leading to high safety and favorable cyclability. Despite the merits of Li4Ti5O12 been presented, there still remains the issue of Li4Ti5O12 suffering from poor electronic conductivity, manifesting disadvantageous rate performance. Typically, a material modification process of Li4Ti5O12 will be proposed to overcome such an issue. However, the previous reports have made few investigations and achievements to analyze the subsequent processes after a material modification process. In this review, we attempt to put considerable interest in complete device design and assembly process with its material structure design (or modification process), electrode structure design and device construction design. Moreover, we have systematically concluded a series of representative design schemes, which can be divided into three major categories involving: (1) nanostructures design, conductive material coating process and doping process on material level; (2) self‐supporting or flexible electrode structure design on electrode level; (3) rational assembling of lithium ion full cell or lithium ion capacitor on device level. We believe that these rational designs can give an advanced performance for Li4Ti5O12‐based energy storage device and deliver a deep inspiration.  相似文献

Graphitized carbon (GC) and graphene (GE) modified Fe2O3/Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) composites have been synthesized via a solid‐state reaction, respectively. The structure, morphology and electrochemical performance of the materials have also been characterized with X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) with an energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) system, X‐ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and electrochemical measurements. The discharge capacities of Fe2O3/LTO, GC/Fe2O3/LTO and GE/Fe2O3/LTO are 100.2 mAh g?1, 207.5 mAh g?1 and 238.9 mAh g?1 after 100 cycles at the current density of 176 mA g?1. The cyclic stability and rate capability are in the order of GE/Fe2O3/LTO > GC/Fe2O3/LTO > Fe2O3/LTO because of the synergistic effect between GC (GE) and Fe2O3/LTO. When aprotic Li–O2 batteries discharge, the product phase formed in the cathode often contains two different morphologies, that is, crystalline and amorphous Li2O2. The morphology of Li2O2 impacts strongly on the electrochemical performance of Li–O2 cells in terms of energy efficiency and rate capability. Crystalline Li2O2 is readily available and its properties have been studied in depth for Li–O2 batteries. However, little is known about the amorphous Li2O2 because of its rarity in high purity. Herein, amorphous Li2O2 has been synthesized by a rapid reaction of tetramethylammonium superoxide and LiClO4 in solution, and its amorphous nature has been confirmed by a range of techniques. Compared with its crystalline siblings, amorphous Li2O2 demonstrates enhanced charge‐transport properties and increased electro‐oxidation kinetics, manifesting itself a desirable discharge phase for high‐performance Li–O2 batteries.  相似文献

The structural and electronic properties of Li4+xTi5O12 compounds (with 0≤x≤6)—to be used as anode materials for lithium‐ion batteries—are studied by means of first principles calculations. The results suggest that Li4Ti5O12 can be lithiated to the state Li8.5Ti5O12, which provides a theoretical capacity that is about 1.5 times higher than that of the compound lithiated to Li7Ti5O12. Further insertion of lithium species into the Li8.5Ti5O12 lattice results in a clear structural distortion. The small lattice expansion observed upon lithium insertion (about 0.4 % for the lithiated material Li8.5Ti5O12) and the retained [Li1Ti5]16dO12 framework indicate that the insertion/extraction process is reversible. Furthermore, the predicted intercalation potentials are 1.48 and 0.05 V (vs Li/Li+) for the Li4Ti5O12/Li7Ti5O12 and Li7Ti5O12/Li8.5Ti5O12 composition ranges, respectively. Electronic‐structure analysis shows that the lithiated states Li4+xTi5O12 are metallic, which is indicative of good electronic‐conduction properties.  相似文献

Structural and electronic properties of Li4Ti5O12 spinel are studied from density functional theory based first principles calculations. Differences on these properties between delithiated state Li4Ti5O12 and lithiated state Li7Ti5O12 are compared. The optimized lattice constant of Li4Ti5O12 is 8.619 Å, which is even a little larger (0.2%) than 8.604 Å of the lithiated state Li7Ti5O12. The arrangement of the Li and Ti atoms at the 16d sites of the spinel structure is also investigated in a cubic unit cell. Large 1 × 1 × 3 supercell models are constructed and used to calculate the total energy and electronic structure. The average intercalation potential is also calculated, with metallic lithium as reference.  相似文献

The conventional formulation of electrodes used in Li-ion batteries consists of a mixture of three components: an active material, a conductive additive (carbon), and an organic binder. While the first encompasses a broad spectrum of chemistries, the carbon and the binder are often standard elements of the composite, with the latter being, in most of the cathode cases, the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The high (electro-)chemical inertia spanning over a broad range of oxidative and reductive potentials gives grounds for this choice. Herein, we demonstrate, contrary to electrochemical expectations, that the PVDF is electrochemically unstable at relatively low potentials. We consider in this study the LiFePO4 (LFP) cathode cycled versus Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) anode as a representative low-voltage battery cell system. The binder degradation process starts upon charge on the LFP electrode at 3.45 V vs. Li+/Li when the PVDF binder reacts with lithium and forms LiF. The latter does not precipitate on the LFP but migrates/diffuses towards the LTO counter-electrode, following the Li-ions’ trajectory. X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy complemented with the high lateral resolution of X-ray photoemission electron microscopy disclosed the formation of a thin layer of LiF homogenously distributed across the LTO electrode, which partially dissolves (or decomposes) upon discharge. The degradation of the PVDF and the deposition and dissolution (and/or decomposition) of the LiF layer continue over subsequent charge and discharge cycles. The process is augmented when the cycling temperature is increased to 80 °C. The results shown in this work are crucial to interpret electrochemical data, such as specific charge decay or impedance rise, and have relevance for all PVDF-based electrodes, especially when employed in high-voltage battery cells where the more extreme cycling conditions exacerbate electrode components’ stability.  相似文献

Spinel Li4Ti5 − x Zr x O12/C (x = 0, 0.05) were prepared by a solution method. The structure and morphology of the as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The electrochemical performances including charge–discharge (0–2.5 V and 1–2.5 V), cyclic voltammetry, and ac impedance were also investigated. The results revealed that the Li4Ti4.95Zr0.05O12/C had a relatively smaller particle size and more regular morphology than that of Li4Ti5O12/C. Zr4+ doping enhanced the ability of lithium-ion diffusion in the electrode. It delivered a discharge capacity 289.03 mAh g−1 after 50 cycles for the Zr4+-doped Li4Ti5O12/C while it decreased to 264.03 mAh g−1 for the Li4Ti5O12/C at the 0.2C discharge to 0 V. Zr4+ doping did not change the electrochemical process, instead enhanced the electronic conductivity and ionic conductivity. The reversible capacity and cycling performance were effectively improved especially when it was discharged to 0 V.  相似文献

Contributions to the Chemistry of Phosphorus. 233. Li3P7O3 and Li2HP7O2 – the First Oxido Heptaphosphanes(3) The novel oxido heptaphosphanes(3) Li3P7O3 ( 1 ) and Li2HP7O2 ( 2 ) have been obtained by the reaction of trilithium heptaphosphide with cumene hydroperoxide. The compounds 1 and 2 are also formed from lithium pentaphosphacyclopentadienide and cumene hydroperoxide. They are sensitive to oxidation and are pale yellow solids whose structures have been elucidated by means of NMR and IR spectroscopic investigations. In each case, the oxygen atoms are bonded as lithiumoxido groups exocyclically to the heptaphosphanortricyclene skeleton.  相似文献
