We use angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to investigate the energy gap(s) in (Bi,Pb)2(Sr,La)2CuO6+delta. We find that the spectral gap has two components in the superconducting state: a superconducting gap and pseudogap. Differences in their momentum and temperature dependence suggest that they represent two separate energy scales. Spectra near the node reveal a sharp peak with a small gap below T(c) that closes at T(c). Near the antinode, spectra are broad with a large energy gap of approximately 40 meV above and below T(c). The latter spectral shape and gap magnitude are almost constant across T(c), indicating that the pseudogap state coexists with the superconducting state below T(c), and it dominates spectra around the antinode. We speculate that the pseudogap state competes with the superconductivity by diminishing spectral weight in antinodal regions, where the superconducting gap is largest.  相似文献

The technique of transmission electron energy loss spectrometry (EELS) in parallel detection has been utilized to analyze the fine structures associated with the O K and Cu L3 absorption edges of recently discovered Y1−xCaxSr2Cu2GaO7 (0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.4) series of compounds, which exhibit superconductivity when annealed under high-pressure oxygen atmosphere. We find subtle but significant changes in EELS spectral features of nonsuperconducting and superconducting specimens of these compounds. A broad pre-edge feature is observed below the O K absorption edge, at about 528.2 eV which emerges with Ca-doping alone. Evidence is presented for another O K secondary pre-edge feature, at about 1.1 eV below the first O K pre-edge feature in only those specimens which have undergone high-pressure oxygen treatment (i.e. superconducting specimens). We interpret the O K pre-edge feature as due to formation of holes on oxygen sites and propose that the first broad pre-edge feature (at 528.2 eV) is associated with holes on oxygen sites other than the CuO2 planes, which are responsible for normal conductivity. The second smaller pre-edge feature (at 527.1 eV) is most probably associated with holes in the CuO2 planes, which are associated with superconductivity in this system. The presence of a secondary smaller O K pre-edge feature in the superconducting specimens appears to correlate well with a broad shoulder on the high energy side of the Cu L3 edge. The results are interpreted in terms of oxidation of CuO2 planes through charge transfer between copper and oxygen in the CuO2 planes, i.e. covalent mixing of O and Cu orbitals at the Fermi level as a result of high oxygen pressure annealing.

We present angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy data on moderately underdoped La1.855Sr0.145CuO4 at temperatures below and above the superconducting transition temperature. Unlike previous studies of this material, we observe sharp spectral peaks along the entire underlying Fermi surface in the superconducting state. These peaks trace out an energy gap that follows a simple d-wave form, with a maximum superconducting gap of 14 meV. Our results are consistent with a single gap picture for the cuprates. Furthermore our data on the even more underdoped sample La1.895Sr0.105CuO4 also show sharp spectral peaks, even at the antinode, with a maximum superconducting gap of 26 meV.  相似文献

We present the c-axis optical conductivity sigma(1c)(omega,T) of underdoped (x=0.12) and optimally doped (x=0.15) La2-xSrxCuO4 from 4 meV to 1.8 eV obtained by a combination of reflectivity and transmission spectra. In addition to the opening of the superconducting gap, we observe an increase of conductivity above the gap up to 270 meV with a maximal effect at about 120 meV. This may indicate a new collective mode at a surprisingly large energy scale. The Ferrell-Glover-Tinkham sum rule is violated for both doping levels. Although the relative value of the violation is much larger for the under-doped sample, the absolute increase of the low-frequency spectral weight, including that of the condensate, is higher in the optimally doped regime. Our results resemble in many respects the observations in YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-delta).  相似文献

We present a detailed study of vortex-core spectroscopy in slightly overdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta using a low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope. Inside the vortex core, we observe a fourfold symmetric modulation of the local density of states with an energy-independent period of (4.3 +/- 0.3)a0. Furthermore, we demonstrate that this square modulation is related to the vortex-core states which are located at +/-6 meV. Since the core-state energy is proportional to the superconducting gap magnitude , our results strongly suggest the existence of a direct relation between the superconducting state and the local electronic modulations in the vortex core.  相似文献

We report a Cu -edge resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) study of charge-transfer excitations in the 2-8 eV range in the structurally simple compound HgBa(2)CuO(4+delta) at optimal doping (T(c)=96.5 K). The spectra exhibit a significant dependence on the incident photon energy which we carefully utilize to resolve a multiplet of weakly dispersive (<0.5 eV) electron-hole excitations, including a mode at 2 eV. The observation of this 2 eV excitation suggests the existence of a remnant charge-transfer gap deep in the superconducting phase. Quite generally, our results, which include additional data for the Mott insulator La(2)CuO(4), demonstrate the importance of exploring the incident photon-energy dependence of the RIXS cross section.  相似文献

We performed optical spectroscopy measurement on a superconducting Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 single crystal with T{c}=37 K. Formation of the superconducting energy gaps in the far-infrared reflectance spectra below T{c} is clearly observed. A flat and close to unity reflectance is observed roughly below 150 cm;{-1} for Tor=T{c}. We determined the absolute value of the penetration depth at 10 K as lambda approximately 2000+/-80 A. A spectral weight analysis shows that the Ferrell-Glover-Tinkham sum rule is satisfied at low energy scale, less than 6Delta.  相似文献

We investigated the behavior of the spin-triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4 ( T(c) approximately 1.5 K) under the magnetic fields parallel to the quasi-two-dimensional plane. The upper critical field H(c2) exhibits a clear fourfold anisotropy of about 3% at 0.35 K. Furthermore, we detected an additional transition feature below H(c2) in both the ac susceptibility and the specific heat. These second-transition features as well as the pronounced in-plane H(c2) anisotropy disappear above 0.8 K or under intentional field misalignment of less than 1 degrees. Most of these characteristics are consistent with the predicted emergence of the second superconducting phase with a line-node gap.  相似文献

We report a resonant inelastic x-ray scattering study of the dispersion relations of charge-transfer excitations in insulating La(2)CuO(4).. These data reveal two peaks, both of which show two-dimensional characteristics. The lowest energy excitation has a gap energy of approximately 2.2 eV at the zone enter, and a dispersion of approximately 1 eV. The spectral weight of this mode becomes dramatically smaller around (pi, pi). The second peak shows a smaller dispersion ( approximately 0.5 eV) with a zone-center energy of approximately 3.9 eV. We argue that these are both highly dispersive exciton modes damped by the presence of the electron-hole continuum.  相似文献

Conductance spectra measurements of highly transparent junctions made of superconducting La2-xSrxCuO4 electrodes and a nonsuperconducting La1.65Sr0.35CuO4 barrier are reported. At low temperatures below Tc, these junctions have two prominent Andreev-like conductance peaks with clear steps at energies Δ1 and Δ2 with Δ2>2Δ1. No such peaks appear above Tc. The doping dependence at 2 K shows that both Δ1 and Δ2 scale roughly as Tc. Δ1 is identified as the superconducting energy gap, while a few scenarios are proposed as for the origin of Δ2.  相似文献

High-resolution photoemission study of MgB2   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We have performed high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy on MgB2 and observed opening of a superconducting gap with a narrow coherent peak. We found that the superconducting gap is s like with the gap value ( Delta) of 4.5+/-0.3 meV at 15 K. The temperature dependence (15-40 K) of the gap value follows well the BCS form, suggesting that 2Delta/k(B)T(c) at T = 0 is about 3. No pseudogap behavior is observed in the normal state. The present results strongly suggest that MgB2 is categorized into a phonon-mediated BCS superconductor in the weak-coupling regime.  相似文献

Surface states in Si(111)2×1 and Ge(111)2×1 are detected by the method of the change of external reflectivity, both at energies below and above the gap. Optical transitions at 2.6 eV in Si and at 1.8 eV and 3.1 eV in Ge, as well as the already known transitions below the gap are observed.  相似文献

In CaFe_2As_2,superconductivity can be achieved by applying a modest c-axis pressure of several kbar. Here we use scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy(STM/S) to explore the STM tip pressure effect on single crystals of CaFe_2As_2.When performing STM/S measurements, the tip-sample interaction can be controlled to act repulsive with reduction of the junction resistance, thus to apply a tip pressure on the sample. We End that an incoherent energy gap emerges at the Fermi level in the differential conductance spectrum when the tip pressure is increased. This energy gap is of the similar order of magnitude as the superconducting gap in the chemical doped compound Ca_(0.4)Na_(0.6)Fe_2As_2 and disappears at the temperature well below that of the bulk magnetic ordering. Moreover,we also observe the rhombic distortion of the As lattice, which agrees with the orthorhombic distortion of the underlying Fe lattice. These Endings suggest that the STM tip pressure can induce the local Cooper pairing in the orthorhombic phase of CaFe_2As_2.  相似文献

We study staggered flux fluctuations around the superconducting state of the SU(2) mean-field theory for the two-dimensional t-J model and their effect on the electron spectral function. The quasiparticle peaks near (pi,0),(0,pi) get strongly broadened and partially wiped out by these fluctuations while the quasiparticle peaks near the nodes of the d-wave gap are preserved over a wide parameter range. The strength of these effects is governed by an energy scale that decreases towards zero for doping x-->0 and that is related to the energy splitting between the SU(2)-related superconducting and staggered flux mean-field states.  相似文献

High resolution photoemission measurements are carried out on non-superconducting LaFeAsO parent com- pound and various superconducting RFeAs(O1-ZFx) (R=La, Ce and Pr) compounds. It is found that the parent LaFeAsO compound shows a metallic character. By extensive measurements, several common features are identified in the electronic structure of these Fe-based compounds: (1) 0.2 eV feature in the valence band, (2) a universal 13-16 meV feature, (3) near EF spectral weight suppression with decreasing temperature. These uni- versal features can provide important information about band structure, superconducting gap and pseudogap in these Fe-based materials.  相似文献

We report the ultrafast optical response of quasiparticles (QPs) in both the pseudogap (PG) and superconducting (SC) states of an underdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 + y (Bi2212) single crystal measured with the time-resolved pump-probe technique. At a probe energy variant planck's over omegapr = 1.55 eV, it is found that the reflectivity change DeltaR/R changes its sign at exactly Tc, which allows the direct separation of the charge dynamics of PG and SC QPs. Further systematic investigations indicate that the transient signals associated with PG and SC QPs depend on the probe beam energy and polarization. By tuning them below Tc, two distinct components can be detected simultaneously, providing evidence for the coexistence of PG and SC QPs.  相似文献

We report transverse-field and zero-field muon spin rotation and relaxation studies of the superconducting rhenium oxide pyrochlore, Cd2Re2O7. Transverse-field measurements (H=0.007 T) show line broadening below T(c), which is characteristic of a vortex state, demonstrating conclusively the type-II nature of this superconductor. The penetration depth is seen to level off below about 400 mK (T/T(c) approximately 0.4), with a rather large value of lambda(T=0) approximately 7500 A. The temperature independent behavior below approximately 400 mK is consistent with a nodeless superconducting energy gap. Zero-field measurements indicate no static magnetic fields developing below the transition temperature.  相似文献

Subharmonic gap structures are seen as sharp current steps at voltages corresponding to submultiples of the superconducting energy gap, i.e. at voltages eV = 2Δ/m (m = 2,3,…, e = electronic charge) in PbIn-Oxide-Pb tunnel junctions. The step amplitudes decay rapidly with increasing m. The relative amplitudes as well as the current step shapes, can be accounted for within the multiparticle tunneling theory.  相似文献

The properties of a superconductor featuring strong electron-phonon and electron-impurity interactions have been studied in a single-band approximation. It is shown that the elastic scattering of electrons on static impurities decreases the electron-phonon interaction constant in proportion to the ratio of the electron-impurity relaxation rate and the seeding band width. The optical spectral weight (integral of the real part of the optical conductivity) in various energy intervals of a metal in the normal and superconducting states has been calculated as a function of the temperature and the superconducting gap. In the region of large (compared to the phonon) energies, the dependence of the spectral weight on the superconducting gap is weak, while the dependence on the temperature is completely determined by the corresponding dependence of the relaxation rate due to the elastic electron-phonon scattering far from the Fermi surface. It is shown that a difference in behavior of the spectral weight between the normal and superconducting states at lower energies is determined by so-called Holstein’s shift of the feature in the optical conductivity spectrum (rather than by the gap width, as it is commonly believed) and sharply decreases upon the introduction of impurities.  相似文献
