The structure of ?*-inverse semigroups

The concepts of ℒ*-inverse semigroups and left wreath products of semigroups are introduced. It is shown that the ℒ*-inverse semigroup can be described as the left wreath product of a type A semigroup Γ and a left regular band B together with a mapping which maps the semigroup Γ into the endomorphism semigroup End(B). This result generalizes the structure theorem of Yamada for the left inverse semigroups in the class of regular semigroups. We shall also provide a constructed example for the ℒ*-inverse semigroups by using the left wreath products.     

On Ordered Semigroups Which are Semilattices of Simple and Regular Semigroups

We characterize the ordered semigroups which are decomposable into simple and regular components. We prove that each ordered semigroup which is both regular and intra-regular is decomposable into simple and regular semigroups, and the converse statement also holds. We also prove that an ordered semigroup S is both regular and intra-regular if and only if every bi-ideal of S is an intra-regular (resp. semisimple) subsemigroup of S. An ordered semigroup S is both regular and intra-regular if and only if the left (resp. right) ideals of S are right (resp. left) quasi-regular subsemigroups of S. We characterize the chains of simple and regular semigroups, and we prove that S is a complete semilattice of simple and regular semigroups if and only if S is a semilattice of simple and regular semigroups. While a semigroup which is both π-regular and intra-regular is a semilattice of simple and regular semigroups, this does not hold in ordered semigroups, in general.

Proper extensions of weakly left ample semigroups

Summary We consider proper (idempotent pure) extensions of weakly left ample semigroups. These are extensions that are injective in each <InlineEquation ID=IE"1"><EquationSource Format="TEX"><![CDATA[<InlineEquation ID=IE"2"><EquationSource Format="TEX"><![CDATA[$]]></EquationSource></InlineEquation>]]></EquationSource></InlineEquation>\widetilde{\mathcal{R}}$-class. A graph expansion of a weakly left ample semigroup S is shown to be such an extension of S. Using semigroupoids acted upon by weakly left ample semigroups, we prove that any weakly left ample semigroup which is a proper extension of another such semigroup T is (2,1)-embeddable into a λ-semidirect product of a semilattice by T. Some known results, by O'Carroll, for idempotent pure extensions of inverse semigroups and, by Billhardt, for proper extensions of left ample semigroups follow from this more general situation.

The rank of the endomorphism monoid of a uniform partition

The rank of a semigroup is the cardinality of a smallest generating set. In this paper we compute the rank of the endomorphism monoid of a non-trivial uniform partition of a finite set, that is, the semigroup of those transformations of a finite set that leave a non-trivial uniform partition invariant. That involves proving that the rank of a wreath product of two symmetric groups is two and then use the fact that the endomorphism monoid of a partition is isomorphic to a wreath product of two full transformation semigroups. The calculation of the rank of these semigroups solves an open question.

On left C-wrpp semigroups

It is known that a C–rpp semigroup can be described as a strong semilattice of left cancellative monoids. In this paper, we introduce the class of left C–wrpp semigroups which includes the class of left C–rpp semigroups as a subclass. We shall particularly show that the semi-spined product of a left regular band and a C–wrpp semigroup forms a curler which is a left C–wrpp semigroup and vice versa. Results obtained by Fountain and Tang on C–rpp semigroups are extended and strengthened.     

A generalized Clifford theorem of semigroups

A U-abundant semigroup S in which every H-class of S contains an element in the set of projections U of S is said to be a U-superabundant semigroup.This is an analogue of regular semigroups which are unions of groups and an analogue of abundant semigroups which are superabundant.In 1941,Clifford proved that a semigroup is a union of groups if and only if it is a semilattice of completely simple semigroups.Several years later,Fountain generalized this result to the class of superabundant semigroups.In this p...     

Medial permutable semigroups of the first kind

We say that a semigroup S is a permutable semigroup if the congruences of S commute with each other, that is, α○β=β○α is satisfied for all congruences α and β of S. A semigroup is called a medial semigroup if it satisfies the identity axyb=ayxb. The medial permutable semigroups were examined in Proc. Coll. Math. Soc. János Bolyai, vol. 39, pp. 21–39 (1981), where the medial semigroups of the first, the second and the third kind were characterized, respectively. In Atta Accad. Sci. Torino, I-Cl. Sci. Fis. Mat. Nat. 117, 355–368 (1983) a construction was given for medial permutable semigroups of the second [the third] kind. In the present paper we give a construction for medial permutable semigroups of the first kind. We prove that they can be obtained from non-archimedean commutative permutable semigroups (which were characterized in Semigroup Forum 10, 55–66, 1975). A generalization of the first Malcev theorem on nilpotent semigroups and nilpotency of the wreath product of semigroups

We describe all [0-]simple semigroups that are nilpotent in the sense of Malcev. This generalizes the first Malcev theorem on nilpotent (in the sense of Malcev) semigroups. It is proved that if the extended standard wreath product of semigroups is nilpotent in the sense of Malcev and the passive semigroup is not nilpotent, then the active semigroup of the wreath product is a finite nilpotent group. In addition to that, the passive semigroup is uniform periodic. Necessary and sufficient conditions are found under which the extended standard wreath product of semigroups is nilpotent in the sense of Malcev in the case where each of the semigroups of the wreath product generates a variety of finite step.

Abundant Left C-lpp Proper Semigroups

The aim of this paper is to study a class of left abundant semigroups, so-called abundant left C-lpp proper semigroups including left type A proper semigroups and right inverse proper semigroups as its subclasses. A structure theorem similar to McAlisters for inverse proper semigroups is obtained. As its application, it is verified that any abundant left C-lpp proper semigroup can be embedded into a semidirect product of a left regular band by a cancellative monoid.AMS Subject Classification (1991): 20M10Suppoted by the Foundation of Yunnan University and also by the Director Foundation of Yunnan Province.
