We calculate using diagrammatic perturbation theory in the two-loop approximation, the specific heat exponent for the classical N-vector model in a random external field for spatial dimension (D) lying between four and six. The calculation supports the modified hyperscaling , where is the correlation length exponent. Received: 18 March 1998 / Revised: 17 April 1998 / Accepted: 21 April 1998  相似文献

Using the density matrix renormalization group method (DMRG) we calculate the magnetization of frustrated S=1/2 Heisenberg chains for various modulation patterns of the nearest neighbour coupling: commensurate, incommensurate with sinusoidal modulation and incommensurate with solitonic modulation. We focus on the order of the phase transition from the commensurate dimerized phase (D) to the incommensurate phase (I). It is shown that the order of the phase transition depends sensitively on the model. For the solitonic model in particular, a k-dependent elastic energy modifies the order of the transition. Furthermore, we calculate gaps in the incommensurate phase in adiabatic approximation. Received: 9 March 1998 / Accepted: 17 April 1998  相似文献

The effects of Umklapp scattering on the zero-temperature conductance in one-dimensional quantum wires are reexamined by taking into account both the screening of external potential and the non-uniform chemical potential shift due to electron-electron interaction. It is shown that in the case away from half-filling the conductance is given by the universal value, 2e 2 /h, even in the presence of Umklapp scattering, owing to these renormalization effects of external potential. The conclusion is in accordance with the recent claim obtained for the system with non-interacting leads being attached to a quantum wire. We report on specific heat measurements of the quasi-one-dimensional organic salt (TMTSF)2AsF6 in its spin density wave state between 75 mK and 7 K. Similarly to (TMTSF)2PF6, we find discontinuities in the lattice contribution at 1.9 K an d 3.5 K ascribed to sub-spin density wave phases. Time-dependent effects due to dynamics of low-energy excitations in metastable states occur only below 0.2 K which yields an activation energy for the equilibrium energy relaxation process of 0.34 K, 4-5 times smaller than found for (TMTSF)2PF6. Finally the reduction of the low-energy excitations contribution to the specific heat in comparison to PF6 reveals an intermediate cubic-like regime between 0.25 and 0.5 K that we tentatively describe as the phason contribution of the incommensurate spin density wave modulation. A two dimensional antiferromagnetic spin-1 Ising model with negative next- nearest neighbour interaction (J 2 <0) and under an external magnetic field is investigated by two methods: The mean-field theory and Finite-Size-Scaling based on transfer matrix (TMFSS) calculations. The ground state diagrams exhibit several new phases including frustrated ones. At finite temperature we obtain by these two methods quite rich phase diagrams, with several multicritical points. While Mean field approximation yields phase diagrams which are sometimes even qualitatively incorrect, accurate results are obtained from transfer matrix finite size scaling calculations. For a certain range of interaction parameters, the model is shown to violate the ordinary universality hypothesis. In the replica symmetric approximation and static limit in Matsubara “imaginary time”, the quantum XY spin glass model with planar Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction in longitudinal field is investigated. Several thermodynamic quantities are calculated numerically as well as spin self-interaction and spin glass order parameter for spin S=1/2. It is shown that the entropy is not independent of the field. A crossover behavior of the specific heat depending on temperature is found. There is a deviation from the parabolic approximation, C/T=A+Bh 2 . Received 11 March 1998  相似文献

We derive the jump in the specific heat at T=T c for a superconductor in a non-Fermi liquid model. We took into consideration the two possible limits in this problem: the spin-charge separation model for a Fermi liquid and the usual non-Fermi liquid model which satisfies the homogeneity relation for the spectral function , ). We also derive the order parameter behavior for these two cases in the vecinity of the critical temperature. Received: 25 January 1998 / Revised: 25 March 1998 / Accepted: 25 March 1998  相似文献

The deflection of Ne atoms in the metastable state 3 P 2 by coherent transfer of the momenta of 4 or 8 photons is demonstrated, based on the technique developed for coherent population transfer with delayed pulses (STIRAP). After deflection the intensity profile of the isotope of mass 20 is fully seperated from that for the undeflected atoms of mass 22. It is furthermore shown, how the interplay of Larmor precession of the electronic magnetic moment and the sequential deflection in two spatially separated zones can be used to measure the magnetic field, integrated over the flight-path between the transfer zones. We present a Bethe Ansatz based investigation of a one-dimensional (1D) Heisenberg spin chain in a real 3D crystal lattice. We have shown that due to an influence of the lattice distortion on a crystalline field of ligands of magnetic ions, a Heisenberg antiferromagnetic spin chain is unstable under the appearance of a magnetic anisotropy of the “easy-plane” type. The effects of an external magnetic field and nonzero temperature onto such a phase transition are studied. Received: 19 January 1998 / Revised: 16 March 1998 / Accepted: 17 March 1998  相似文献

Muon-transfer rates in collisions of hydrogen-like atoms or with light nuclei t, 3He, 4He, 6Li or 7Li, are calculated in a semiclassical approximation to the Faddeev-Hahn equations. The two nuclei involved are treated classically, while the motion of the muon in their Coulomb field is considered from the quantum mechanical point of view. The experimentally observed strong dependence on the charge of the nuclei is reproduced. Received: 1st November 1997 / Revised: 26 March 1998 / Accepted: 18 August 1998  相似文献

The typical island distance in submonolayer epitaxial growth depends on the growth conditions via an exponent . This exponent is known to depend on the substrate dimensionality, the dimension of the islands, and the size i* of the critical nucleus for island formation. In this paper we study the dependence of on i* in one-dimensional epitaxial growth. We derive that for and confirm this result by computer simulations. We show that non-frustrated and frustrated ladders in a magnetic field can be systematically mapped onto an XXZ Heisenberg model in a longitudinal magnetic field in the limit where the rung coupling is the dominant one. This mapping is valid in the critical region where the magnetization goes from zero to saturation. It allows one to relate the properties of the critical phase (H c 1, H c 2, the critical exponents) to the exchange integrals and provide quantitative estimates of the frustration needed to create a plateau at half the saturation value for different models of frustration. Self-affine multiplicity scaling is investigated in the framework of two-dimensional factorial moment methodology using the concept of the Hurst exponent (H). Our investigation on experimental data of the target-evaporated slow particles emitted in 32S-AgBr interactions at 200 AGeV and 28Si-AgBr interactions at 14.5 AGeV reveals that a better power law behavior is exhibited in self-affine analysis than self-similar analysis. This work shows a clear evidence of self-affine target fragmentation. Received: 22 October 2001 / Accepted: 6 March 2002  相似文献

Specific heat (CV) measurements in the spin-1/2 Cu2(C2H12N2)2Cl4 system under a magnetic field up to H =8.25 T are reported and compared to the results of numerical calculations based on the 2-leg antiferromagnetic Heisenberg ladder. While the temperature dependences of both the susceptibility and the low-field specific heat are accurately reproduced by this model, deviations are observed above the critical field HC1 at which the spin gap closes. In this Quantum High Field phase, the contribution of the low-energy quantum fluctuations are stronger than in the Heisenberg ladder model. We argue that this enhancement can be attributed to dynamical lattice fluctuations. Finally, we show that such a Heisenberg ladder, for H > H C1, is unstable, when coupled to the 3D lattice, against a lattice distortion. These results provide an alternative explanation for the observed low temperature ( K-0.8 K) phase (previously interpreted as a 3D magnetic ordering) as a new type of incommensurate gapped state. We calculate the excitation gap, the soliton energy, and the soliton density at finite temperature, of the spin-1/2 one dimensional antiferromagnet coupled to phonons, using a self-consistent harmonic approximation, and the thermal-Green function technique. The spin degrees of freedom are represented by the phase Hamiltonian with the help of the boson representation of the spinless fermions. We estimate the critical field Hc above which begins the incommensurate phase. We also present a theoretical calculation for the specific heat in this phase. We use CuGeO3 as an example of a compound where our theory could be applied. Received 22 October 2002 / Received in final form 21 January 2003 Published online 14 March 2003  相似文献

Orthorhombic EuPdSb is known to undergo two magnetic transitions, at 12 K and at T N≃ 18 K, and in phase III (T < 12 K), single crystal magnetisation data have shown that the spin structure is collinear antiferromagnetic, with magnetic moments along the crystal a axis. From a 151Eu M?ssbauer absorption study, we show that, at any temperature within phase III, all the moments have equal sizes, and that in phase II (12 K< T <18 K) the magnetic structure is modulated and incommensurate with the lattice spacings. The modulation is close to a pure sine-wave just below T N = 18 K, and it squares up as temperature is lowered. We measured the thermal variations of the first and third harmonics of the moment modulation, and we could determine the first and third harmonics of the exchange coupling. We furthermore show that the antiferromagnetic-incommensurate transition at 12 K is strongly first order, with a hysteresis of 0.05 K, and that the incommensurate-paramagnetic transition at 18 K is weakly first order. Finally, we present an explanation of the spin-flop transition observed in the single crystal magnetisation data in phase III when || in terms of an anisotropic molecular field tensor. We report the results of 69Ga- and 71Ga-NMR measurements on NdGa2 at temperatures between 0.1 and and in applied magnetic fields between zero and 74 kOe. NdGa2 orders antiferromagnetically below and undergoes several metamagnetic transitions in external magnetic fields. In zero applied magnetic field and below the temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate T1 -1 ( T ) shows a large linear-in-T term, about two orders of magnitude higher than for the reference compound LaGa2. This strong enhancement confirms the presence of low-energy excitations in the antiferromagnetic phase of NdGa2 as was previously indicated by specific heat data. Above , T1 -1 ( T ) is dominated by an exponential term, which we associate with excitations between the lowest energy levels of the f-electron system. The separation of these energy levels is determined by exchange, crystal-field and Zeeman interactions. Received 3 September 1998 and Received in final form 3 November 1998  相似文献

We study the behavior of eigenfunctions in the semiclassical limit for Schr?dinger operators with a simple well potential and a (non-zero) constant magnetic field. We prove an exponential decay estimate on the low-lying eigenfunctions, where the exponent depends explicitly on the magnetic field strength. Received: 30 March 1998 / Accepted: 1 May 1998  相似文献

In a magnetic field, spin-ladders undergo two zero-temperature phase transitions at the critical fields Hc1 and Hc2. An experimental review of static and dynamical properties of spin-ladders close to these critical points is presented. The scaling functions, universal to all quantum critical points in one-dimension, are extracted from (a) the thermodynamic quantities (magnetization) and (b) the dynamical functions (NMR relaxation). A simple mapping of strongly coupled spin ladders in a magnetic field on the exactly solvable XXZ model enables to make detailed fits and gives an overall understanding of a broad class of quantum magnets in their gapless phase (between Hc1 and Hc2). In this phase, the low temperature divergence of the NMR relaxation demonstrates its Luttinger liquid nature as well as the novel quantum critical regime at higher temperature. The general behavior close these quantum critical points can be tied to known models of quantum magnetism. Received: 13 March 1998 / Received in final form and Accepted: 21 July 1998  相似文献
