In this paper, a digital image correlation (DIC) method coupling cross-correlation with spatio-temporal differential techniques was proposed for assessing discontinuous displacement fields. The accuracy and robustness of the algorithm was assessed on a set of numerical tests by processing computer generated speckled-pattern images. Fracture mechanical tests in mode I were considered, in which both in-plane and out-of-plane rigid-body movements were taken into account. The ability for recovering the analytical asymptotic displacement field in mode I was analysed, and stress intensity factor, crack opening displacement and crack tip location were used as quantitative parameters for validation purposes. Throughout these tests, the results obtained with the proposed method were systematically compared to the ones from Aramis DIC-2D commercial code. Globally, the results computed from both methods are in good agreement with reference values. However, due to the high spatial resolution (point-wise characteristic), a better matching of the displacements in the neighbour of discontinuities could be obtained by the proposed method.  相似文献

Recently, a phase evaluation method was proposed to measure nanometric displacements by means of digital speckle pattern interferometry when the phase change introduced by the deformation is in the range [0,π) rad. This method is based on the evaluation of a correlation coefficient between two speckle interferograms generated by both deformation states of the object. In this paper, we present a novel technique to measure non-monotonous displacements in temporal speckle pattern interferometry using a correlation method without a temporal carrier. In this approach, the sign ambiguity is resolved automatically due to the introduction of a function that determines the correct sign of the displacement between two consecutive speckle interferograms. The rms phase errors introduced by the proposed method are determined using computer-simulated speckle interferograms. An application of the phase retrieval method to process experimental data is also presented.  相似文献

In this work, we present the implementation of Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI), Digital Speckle Photography (DSP) and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) as complementary techniques to measure in-plane micro and macro displacement. The main advantage of ESPI is its great sensitivity to small displacements (smaller than the size of the speckle). However, the contrast of fringes in this technique is severely affected by de-correlation effects when the in-plane displacement exceeds the size of the speckle. To eliminate the de-correlation effects, we use the DSP technique. It is possible to generate artificial speckles, usually bigger than those generated by means of illumination of the sample with laser light. By combining DSP and DIC the displacement field can be obtained when the ESPI method cannot be applied due to image de-correlation. The experimental results show that the combination of these techniques is useful to analyze deformations over a wider range.  相似文献

The interaction of four parallel non-symmetric permeable cracks in a piezoelectric/piezomagnetic composite plane subjected to anti-plane shear stress loading was studied by the Schmidt method. The problem was formulated through a Fourier transform into four pairs of dual integral equations, in which unknown variables are jumps of displacements across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of displacements across the crack surfaces were directly expanded as a series of Jacobi polynomials. Finally, the relationships among the electric displacement, magnetic flux and stress fields near the crack tips were obtained. The results show that the stress, the electric displacement and the magnetic flux intensity factors at the crack tips depend on the lengths and spacing of cracks. It was also revealed that the crack shielding effect is present in piezoelectric/piezomagnetic composites.  相似文献

A newly developed optical method for the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of residual and live-load stresses is presented. The method utilizes shearography employing a large angle shearing prism which results in large shear displacements. The large angle shearing prism allows the surface speckle pattern to be referenced and mapped onto a remote, separately positionable, surface. Changes on the object surface are initiated between exposures by means of a spherical impression made into the surface. The impression is made by impacting a hardened ball into the surface producing local stresses approximately three times the magnitude of the yield stress for the material. The deformation pattern is recorded and related to the stress that was initially present in the specimen.  相似文献

A nuclear magnetic resonance technique providing slice-selected spatial distribution of fluid displacements is introduced and exemplified. This echo-shape analysis method exploits the fact that, in a pulsed-gradient spin-echo sequence, the phase encoding of the echo evolves from a position dependence at the start of this pulse to a displacement dependence at the echo peak. The shape of the forming echo is therefore determined by the joint probability distribution correlating initial particle positions with displacements occurring between the first and the second gradient pulses. This distribution may be directly extracted by Fourier analysis of the echo shape as a function of gradient level. This procedure provides efficient access to Lagrangian flow statistics, as is illustrated by application to Taylor-Couette flow. Agreement between experimental results and simulations demonstrates the suitability of this method for examining spatially heterogeneous flow and molecular transport processes.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new registration method for infrared images under conditions of fixed-pattern noise (FPN). Conventional registration techniques are susceptible to FPN and it is therefore very desirable to have a registration algorithm that is tolerant to FPN. For this purpose, we utilize the difference of the cross-power spectrum of two discrete shifted images to suppress the noise power spectrum while the shifts information is well preserved. In particular, we show that the phase of the cross-power spectrum difference is a periodic two-dimensional binary stripe signal with the exact shifts determined to subpixel accuracy by the number of periods of the phase difference along each frequency axis. Robust estimates of shifts can be obtained by transforming its discontinuities to Hough domain. Experimental results show that the proposed method exhibits robust and accurate registration performance even for the noisy images that could not be handled by conventional registration algorithms. We have also incorporated this technique to a registration-based nonuniformity correction (NUC) framework, indicating that our registration technique is able to estimate motion parameters reliably, leading to satisfactory NUC result.  相似文献

The present paper makes use of conformal mapping and Galerkin's method to determine the fundamental frequency of vibration of clamped plates of arbitrary shape subjected to uniform in-plane stress. We present a modified method to solve the surface plasmons(SPs) of semi-infinite metal/dielectric superlattices and predicted new SP modes in physics. We find that four dispersion-equation sets and all possible SP modes are determined by them. Our analysis and numerical calculations indicate that besides the SP mode obtained in the original theory, the other two SP modes are predicted, which have either a positive group velocity or a negative group velocity. We also point out the possible defect in the previous theoretical method in accordance to the linear algebra principle.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the size-dependent dynamic pull-in instability in rectangular micro-plates actuated by step-input DC voltage. The present model accounts for the effects of in-plane displacements and their non-classical higher-order boundary conditions, von Kármán geometric non-linearity, non-classical couple stress components and the inherent non-linearity of distributed electrostatic pressure on the micro-plate motion. The governing equations of motion, which are clearly derived using Hamilton's principle, are solved through a novel computationally very efficient Galerkin-based reduced order model (ROM) in which all higher-order non-classical boundary conditions are completely satisfied. The present findings are compared and successfully validated by available results in the literature as well as those obtained by three-dimensional finite element simulations carried out using COMSOL Multyphysics. A detailed parametric study is also conducted to illustrate the effects of in-plane displacements, plate aspect ratio, couple stress components and geometric non-linearity on the dynamic instability threshold of the system.  相似文献

Digital imaging methods have found a great interest in various engineering fields to study stress-deformation characteristics of materials. Recent enhancements in visual instrumentation with the availability of cost-effective hardware and software products make the digital imaging techniques a viable tool to replace direct strain or displacement measurement methods in engineering applications. In this study, deformation characteristics of bolted steel connections are investigated by calculating in-plane displacement distributions using digital image correlation method (DIC). Validation of the method is presented by comparing the strains measured in standard tension specimens using electrical resistance strain gages and the DIC method. Finite element analysis of the connection specimen is also performed to compare the in-plane displacement distributions calculated from both methods. Results from the validation process indicate that the strains obtained from the DIC method compare well with the results of strain gages. The findings also indicate that the displacement distributions calculated from the finite element method may differ from those of the DIC method in terms of distribution pattern, and the location and magnitude of the extreme values of displacements. It is suggested that the proposed method can be used to determine the in-plane displacement distributions for the bolted connections, hence to evaluate their deformation characteristics under loading.  相似文献

The incremental digital image correlation (DIC) method has been applied in the past to determine strain in large deformation materials like rubber. This method is, however, prone to cumulative errors since the total displacement is determined by combining the displacements in numerous stages of the deformation. In this work, a method of mapping large strains in rubber using DIC in a single-step without the need for a series of deformation images is proposed. The reference subsets were deformed using deformation factors obtained from the fitted mean stress-axial stretch ratio curve obtained experimentally and the theoretical Poisson function. The deformed reference subsets were then correlated with the deformed image after loading. The recently developed scanner-based digital image correlation (SB-DIC) method was applied on dumbbell rubber specimens to obtain the in-plane displacement fields up to 350% axial strain. Comparison of the mean axial strains determined from the single-step SB-DIC method with those from the incremental SB-DIC method showed an average difference of 4.7%. Two rectangular rubber specimens containing circular and square holes were deformed and analysed using the proposed method. The resultant strain maps from the single-step SB-DIC method were compared with the results of finite element modeling (FEM). The comparison shows that the proposed single-step SB-DIC method can be used to map the strain distribution accurately in large deformation materials like rubber at much shorter time compared to the incremental DIC method.  相似文献

借助高准确度数字散斑相关技术并结合标记点法,对工作的热风炉进行了实时位移和应变检测.测试了环向和轴向位移和应变,得出热风炉壳的位移场等直线,即环向位移呈现竖向条纹,轴向位移总体呈现水平状位移等值线,并且位移数据较为均匀.由位移场得到了应变场,由于温差变化不大,由此产生的最大热应力为63.85 MPa.数字散斑相关技术所测结果与标记点法所测数据吻合.现场检测表明,炉壁外表面,由热交换引起的应力远小于钢材的许用应力,所以结构运行安全.  相似文献

This paper presents an explicit acoustical wave propagator technique to investigate the flexural wave scattering and dynamic stress concentration in a ribbed plate based on Mindlin plate theory. A scheme combining Chebyshev polynomial expansion and fast Fourier transformation is introduced to implement the operation of the acoustical wave propagator. The exact analytical solutions are also presented to demonstrate the validity of the present technique. The wave propagation patterns are used to investigate the effect of rib on the flexural wave scattering and distribution of dynamic stress concentration. Dynamic stress concentration factors around the discontinuities are examined in detail.  相似文献

This paper presents the evaluation of a method to cancel rigid body displacements that can be introduced when a hole drilling and digital speckle pattern interferometry (DSPI) combined system is used to measure residual stresses. The proposed method is based on a least-square calculation of three correction parameters determined from two evaluation lines located near the edge of the phase map where the displacement field generated by the drilling process is supposed to be negligible. The errors introduced by the method for different residual stress levels and rigid body displacements are analysed using a numerical simulation. The acoustic scattering from an elastic elliptic cylinder immersed in water and excited by a normally incident plane wave is considered in this paper. The purpose is to determine, theoretically and experimentally, the pressure scattered by this cylinder. A model based on the theory of elasticity is described briefly. It consists in carrying out expansions in Fourier series of the expressions relating to the conditions of continuity (displacements and constraints) at the surface of cylinder. These expressions form a system of equations. The resolution of this system enables us to obtain the scattering coefficient, then the pressure scattered by the cylinder. The numerical results obtained from this model are compared with experimental results obtained by means of an experimental short-pulse method presented in the literature. An good agreement between the results is noted.  相似文献

GaAs layers grown on Si substrates by the conformal method were investigated by means of Raman, photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence spectroscopies. The combination of these optical techniques allows a better knowledge of the properties of these layers, with special emphasis on the stress distribution and the incorporation of dopants. In particular, samples intentionally doped, with alternate doped and undoped fringes, have been analyzed. The effective incorporation of Si atoms in the GaAs structure to produce n-type layers and the formation of Si complexes are determined by Raman and cathodoluminescence data. The lateral quasi-periodic stress distribution, typically observed in these layers, is shown to affect the Si incorporation.  相似文献

The fourth central moment of an X-ray diffraction profile from an aggregate of distorted crystallites has been expressed by Mitra (1964a) as a function of the crystallite size, strain and strain gradients in the specimen. While the usual methods of line profile analysis yield information regarding either the apparent strain or the rms strain, the present study provides additional information regarding strain distribution in the form of strain derivatives and rms displacements of atoms over a given distancet in the direction of study. The strain parameters like 〈ee′〉, 〈ee″〉 have been obtained from fourth moment of the strain profile against range plots. The strain parameters thus obtained have subsequently been used to determine the rms displacements of the atoms. Alloys of copper and zinc at different stages of cold working and annealing have been studied by this method. The results have been discussed in the light of dislocation distribution, polygonisation and grain growth as well as distortion waves in the distorted crystals.  相似文献

This paper presents a new hybrid technique for mechanical characterization of hyperelastic materials. The research is motivated by the fact that standard identification procedures based on the fitting of strain–stress curves determined experimentally from planar biaxial tests may be inaccurate for non-uniform states of deformation. Therefore, we propose an alternative approach where the difference Ω between the displacement field measured with Projection Moiré and its counterpart predicted by FEM is minimized using non-linear optimization algorithms that finally find unknown material properties.In order to check the feasibility of the new procedure, we considered a thin latex membrane modelling it as a two-parameter Mooney–Rivlin (MR) hyperelastic material. The Ω function is minimized either using optimization routines available in a commercial finite element package and by implementing a global optimizer able to deal with non-linearity and non-convexity included in the identification process. In order to check accuracy of optimization results, target values of MR constants for the latex specimen tested have previously been determined by fitting experimental stress–strain data gathered from a standard planar biaxial tension test.Results indicate that the present hybrid identification procedure can determine accurately properties of the hyperelastic material under investigation. In fact, the average residual error on displacements was less than 1% while the difference between the MR constants found with optimization and their target values was less than 3.5%.  相似文献
