Mg-Fe-CO(3) layered double hydroxide (LDH) with a Mg/Fe molar ratio of 2.0 was synthesized by co-precipitation method and its calcined product (CLDH) was obtained by heating Mg/Fe-LDH at 500 degrees C. Sorption of SeO(2-)(3) on CLDHs was studied and the results indicate that the sorption capacity of CLDHs was higher than that of uncalcined LDHs. Isotherms for SeO(2-)(3) sorption by CLDHs were well described using the Freundlich and Langmuir equations. The thermodynamic parameters, viz. DeltaG*, DeltaH*, DeltaS* were calculated to predict the nature of adsorption. The negative and positive values of DeltaG* and DeltaH* indicate that the adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic in nature, respectively. The adsorption process followed first-order kinetics.  相似文献

The kinetics of adsorption of PO(3-)(4) by blast furnace slag were found to be fast, reaching equilibrium in 20 min and following a pseudo-second-order rate equation. The adsorption behavior of PO(3-)(4) on blast furnace slag has been studied as a function of the solution agitation speed, pH, and temperature. Results have been analyzed by Freundlich, Langmuir, BET, and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) adsorption isotherms. The mean energy of adsorption, 10.31 kJ mol(-1), was calculated from the D-R adsorption isotherm. The rate constants were calculated for 293, 298, 303, and 308 K using a pseudo-second-order rate equation and the activation energy (E(a)) was derived using the Arrhenius equation. Thermodynamic parameters such as DeltaH(0), DeltaS(0), and DeltaG(0) were calculated from the slope and intercept of linear plot of lnK(D) against 1/T. The DeltaH(0) and DeltaG(0) values of PO(3-)(4) adsorption on the blast furnace slag show endothermic heat of adsorption. But there is a negative free energy value, indicating that the process of PO(3-)(4) adsorption is favored at high temperatures.  相似文献

Hydrotalcite-like compounds (layered double hydroxides, LDHs) containing varying amounts of Al(3+), Zr(4+), and Zn(2+) or Mg(2+) in the metal hydroxide layer have been synthesized and characterized by various physicochemical methods. The adsorption behavior of uncalcined (as-synthesized) and calcined LDHs have been investigated for Cr(2)O(7)(2-) and SeO(3)(2-). The mixed oxides, obtained on calcination at 450 degrees C, exhibit high adsorption capacities for Cr(2)O(7)(2-) (1.6-2.7 meq/g) and SeO(3)(2-) (1.1-1.5 meq/g), where adsorption occurs through rehydration. Substitution of Zr(4+) in the LDHs, for either M(2+) or Al(3+) ions, increases the adsorption capacity up to 20%, thus providing an alternative way to enhance the adsorption capacity of this type of material. The high adsorption capacity of these materials could be successfully used for removal of undesirable anions from water and also for synthesis of intercalated materials with tailored acidobasicity.  相似文献

The citrate complexes of Zn(2+) and Cd(2+) have been investigated by pH titration at I = 0.1 M (KNO(3)) and 10, 25, 35 and 45 degrees . The species found were [Zn(cit)](-), [Zn(cit)H], [Zn(cit)(2)](4-) and [Zn(2)(cit)(2)H(-)(2)](4-), [Cd(cit)](-), [Cd(cit)H], [Cd(cit)(2)](4-) and [Cd(cit)H(-1)](2-). From the dependence of the formation constants on temperature, DeltaH degrees and DeltaS degrees values were calculated. Speciation in the Zn(2+)]- and Cd(2+)-citrate systems is discussed with particular attention to formation of polynuclear species. Some comparisons with literature data are made.  相似文献

The effect of temperature on the voltammetric OH adsorption on Pt(111) and Pt(100) electrodes in perchloric acid media has been studied. From a thermodynamic analysis based on a generalized adsorption isotherm, DeltaG degrees , DeltaH degrees , and DeltaS degrees values for the adsorption of OH have been determined. On Pt(111), the adsorption enthalpy ranges between -265 and -235 kJ mol(-1), becoming less exothermic as the OH coverage increases. These values are in reasonable agreement with experimental data and calculated values for the same reaction in gas phase. The adsorption entropy for OH adsorption on Pt(111) ranges from -200 J mol(-1) K(-1) (low coverage) to -110 J mol(-1) K(-1) (high coverage). On the other hand, the enthalpy and entropy of hydroxyl adsorption on Pt(100) are less sensitive to coverage variations, with values ca. DeltaH degrees = -280 kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS degrees = -180 J mol(-1) K(-1). The different dependence of DeltaS degrees with coverage on both electrode surfaces stresses the important effect of the substrate symmetry on the mobility of adsorbed OH species within the water network directly attached to the metal surface.  相似文献

The dicopper(I) complex [Cu2(MeL66)]2+ (where MeL66 is the hexadentate ligand 3,5-bis-{bis-[2-(1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-ethyl]-amino}-meth ylbenzene) reacts reversibly with dioxygen at low temperature to form a mu-peroxo adduct. Kinetic studies of O2 binding carried out in acetone in the temperature range from -80 to -55 degrees C yielded the activation parameters DeltaH1(not equal) = 40.4 +/- 2.2 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS1)(not equal) = -41.4 +/- 10.8 J K(-1) mol(-1) and DeltaH(-1)(not equal) = 72.5 +/- 2.4 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(-1)(not equal) = 46.7 +/- 11.1 J K(-1) mol(-1) for the forward and reverse reaction, respectively, and the binding parameters of O2 DeltaH degrees = -32.2 +/- 2.2 kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS degrees = -88.1 +/- 10.7 J K(-1) mol(-1). The hydroxylation of a series of p-substituted phenolate salts by [Cu2(MeL66)O2]2+ studied in acetone at -55 degrees C indicates that the reaction occurs with an electrophilic aromatic substitution mechanism, with a Hammett constant rho = -1.84. The temperature dependence of the phenol hydroxylation was studied between -84 and -70 degrees C for a range of sodium p-cyanophenolate concentrations. The rate plots were hyperbolic and enabled to derive the activation parameters for the monophenolase reaction DeltaH(not equal)ox = 29.1 +/- 3.0 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(not equal)ox = -115 +/- 15 J K(-1) mol(-1), and the binding parameters of the phenolate to the mu-peroxo species DeltaH degrees(b) = -8.1 +/- 1.2 kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS degrees(b) = -8.9 +/- 6.2 J K(-1) mol(-1). Thus, the complete set of kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for the two separate steps of O2 binding and phenol hydroxylation have been obtained for [Cu2(MeL66)]2+.  相似文献

Adsorption of hexavalent chromium onto manganese nodule leached residues was investigated as a possible alternative to the conventional methods of its removal from aqueous synthetic solutions. Adsorption behavior was studied as a function of time, pH, temperature, and concentration of adsorbate and adsorbent in acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer medium. Cr (VI) removal was pH dependent and was found to be of a maximum at pH 3. The applicability of the Langmuir isotherm to the present system was tested. Increased adsorption capacity with increased temperature indicates that the adsorption reaction was endothermic in nature. Based on these studies, thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy change (DeltaG0), standard enthalpy change (DeltaH0), and standard entropy change (DeltaS0) were calculated.  相似文献

A detailed mechanistic study of the substitution behavior of a 3d metal heptacoordinate complex, with a rare pentagonal-bipyramidal structure, was undertaken to resolve the solution chemistry of this system. The kinetics of the complex-formation reaction of [Fe(dapsox)(H(2)O)(2)]ClO(4) (H(2)dapsox = 2,6-diacetylpyridine-bis(semioxamazide)) with thiocyanate was studied as a function of thiocyanate concentration, pH, temperature, and pressure. The reaction proceeds in two steps, which are both base-catalyzed due to the formation of an aqua-hydroxo complex (pK(a1) = 5.78 +/- 0.04 and pK(a2) = 9.45 +/- 0.06 at 25 degrees C). Thiocyanate ions displace the first coordinated water molecule in a fast step, followed by a slower reaction in which the second thiocyanate ion coordinates trans to the N-bonded thiocyanate. At 25 degrees C and pH <4.5, only the first reaction step can be observed, and the kinetic parameters (pH 2.5: k(f(I)) = 2.6 +/- 0.1 M(-1) s(-1), DeltaH(#)(f(I)) = 62 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(#)(f(I)) = -30 +/- 10 J K(-1) mol(-1), and DeltaV(#)(f(I)) = -2.5 +/- 0.2 cm(3) mol(-1)) suggest the operation of an I(a) mechanism. In the pH range 2.5 to 5.2 this reaction step involves the participation of both the diaqua and aqua-hydroxo complexes, for which the complex-formation rate constants were found to be 2.19 +/- 0.06 and 1172 +/- 22 M(-1) s(-1) at 25 degrees C, respectively. The more labile aqua-hydroxo complex is suggested to follow an I(d) or D substitution mechanism on the basis of the reported kinetic data. At pH > or =4.5, the second substitution step also can be monitored (pH 5.5 and 25 degrees C: k(f(II)) = 21.1 +/- 0.5 M(-1) s(-1), DeltaH(#)(f(II)) = 60 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(#)(f(II)) = -19 +/- 6 J K(-1) mol(-1), and DeltaV(#)(f(II)) = +8.8 +/- 0.3 cm(3) mol(-1)), for which an I(d) or D mechanism is suggested. The results are discussed in terms of known structural parameters and in comparison to relevant structural and kinetic data from the literature.  相似文献

The kinetics of the oxidation of beta-Re(2)X(4)(cis-1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethylene)(2) (X = Cl, Br) by the cobalt clathrochelate [Co(dimethylglyoximate)(3)(BF)(2)]BF(4) and the oxidation of Re(2)Br(4)(PMe(2)Ph)(4) by the cobalt clathrochelate [Co(1,2-cyclohexanedione dioximate)(3)(BBu)(2)]BF(4) have been studied by the stopped-flow method as a function of temperature (-85 to -19 degrees C), added Bu(4)NBF(4) (0-0.100 M), and reactant concentration in the low dielectric solvent methylene chloride. For each reaction, approximately 100 different conditions were studied. The observed rate constants were well fit by a mechanism involving separate paths for free ion and the ion-paired Co(III) oxidant. The analysis yielded values for DeltaH() and DeltaS() for each path of each reaction and consistent DeltaH degrees and DeltaS degrees values for the ion-pairing of the cationic reactant and the electrolyte. In addition, temperature-dependent electrochemical measurements in 0.10 M Bu(4)NBF(4) yielded DeltaH degrees and DeltaS degrees for the electron transfer process. This is the first measurement of the homogeneous electron transfer reactivity of the dirhenium complexes, and they showed the expected high reactivity. The most notable result is a very high inhibition (ca. 700-fold) by added salt of only the [Co(dmg)(3)(BF)(2)]BF(4) reactions. We attribute this to a change of rate-controlling step, for the ion-paired path, to one involving anion migration. This appears only to occur when the magnitude of ion-pairing free energy is significantly greater than the magnitude of the free energy change for the electron transfer process.  相似文献

Proton exchange from the bound to the bulk waters on the oxo-centered rhodium(III) trimer, [Rh(3)(micro(3)-O)(micro-O(2)CCH(3))(6)(OH(2))(3)](+)(abbreviated as Rh(3)(+)), was investigated over the temperature range of 219.1-313.9 K using a (1)H NMR line-broadening technique. By solving the modified Bloch equations for a two-site chemical exchange, lifetimes (tau) for proton transfer at pH = 2.7, 3.6, and 7.0 ([Rh(3)(+)]= 26 mM, T= 298 K) were determined to be 0.3 (+/-.08) ms, 2 (+/-0.3) ms, and 0.2 (+/-0.2) ms, respectively. From the temperature dependence of the rate, the activation parameters were determined to be DeltaH(++)= 16.2 (+/-0.5) kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(++)=- 123 (+/-2) J mol(-1) K(-1), DeltaH(++)= 14.9 (+/-0.5) kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(++)=- 141 (+/-2) J mol(-1) K(-1), and DeltaH(++)= 45 (+/-2) kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(++)=- 22 (+/-5) J mol(-1) K(-1) for pH = 2.7, 3.6 and 7.0, respectively. All results are reported for a mixed solvent system [acetone : 250 mM NaClO(4)(aq)(3:1)], which was necessary to depress the freezing point of the solution so that the (1)H NMR signal due to bound water could be observed. The pK(a) of Rh(3)(+) was measured to be 8.9 (+/-0.2) in the mixed solvent, which is near the pK(a) for an aqueous solution (8.3 (+/-0.2)). Surprisingly, the lifetimes for protons on Rh(3)(+) are close to those observed for the Rh(OH(2))(6)(3+) ion, in spite of the considerable difference in structure, Br?nsted acidity of the bound waters and average charge on the metal ion.  相似文献

The surface characterization of MgY and NH(4)Y zeolites was performed using inverse gas chromatography (IGC). The adsorption thermodynamic parameters (the standard enthalpy (DeltaH degrees ), standard entropy change (DeltaS degrees ), and free energy change of adsorption (DeltaG degrees ), the dispersive component of the surface free energies (gamma(S)(d)), and the acid-base character of the surface of MgY and NH(4)Y zeolites were estimated using the retention time of different non-polar and polar probes at infinite dilution region. The specific free energy of adsorption (DeltaG(sp)), the specific enthalpy of adsorption (DeltaH(sp)), and the specific entropy of adsorption (DeltaS(sp)) of polar probes on MgY and NH(4)Y zeolites were determined. The values of the DeltaH(sp) were correlated with both the donor and acceptor numbers of the probes to quantify the acidic K(A) and the basic K(D) parameters of the zeolite surfaces. The values obtained for the K(A) and K(D) parameters indicated a basic character for the surface of MgY and NH(4)Y zeolites.  相似文献

Acid-base properties for ruthenium(II) bis(2,2'-bipyridine) 3-carboxyl-2,2'-bipyridine reveal a ground state pK(a) of 0.82 +/- 0.07 and an excited state pK(a) of 2.31 +/- 0.05, a 1.5 pH unit increase from the ground state. The excited state pK(a) is temperature independent while the ground state pK(a)(0) increases with temperature and has DeltaH(0) and DeltaS(0) values of -990 +/- 149 cm(-)(1) and -4.57 +/- 0.48 cm(-)(1) K(-)(1), respectively. The acidic form of the complex emits at lower energy than the basic form at both 296 and 77 K. The emission energy maxima are solvent dependent and decrease in energy when the solvent changes from 4:1 (v/v) 2-MeTHF-CH(2)Cl(2) to water and when the pH decreases. Changes in excited state lifetimes with emission energy follow the energy gap law with an intercept of 49 +/- 1 and a slope of (2.11 +/- 0.09) x 10(-)(3). Emission quantum yields for protonated and deprotonated species in 4:1 (v/v) 2-MeTHF-CH(2)Cl(2) are 0.023 +/- 0.001 and 0.110 +/- 0.002, respectively. The temperature dependence of the emission lifetimes gives energy barriers of 270 cm(-)(1) for the complex in aqueous solution at pH -0.5, and 990 cm(-)(1) in aqueous solution at pH 4.5, and 1920 cm(-)(1) in 4:1 (v/v) 2-MeTHF-CH(2)Cl(2.)  相似文献

The transition metal, alkali metal, and main group uranyl selenites, Ag(2)(UO(2))(SeO(3))(2) (1), K[(UO(2))(HSeO(3))(SeO(3))] (2), Rb[(UO(2))(HSeO(3))(SeO(3))] (3), Cs[(UO(2))(HSeO(3))(SeO(3))] (4), Tl[(UO(2))(HSeO(3))(SeO(3))] (5), and Pb(UO(2))(SeO(3))(2) (6), have been prepared from the hydrothermal reactions of AgNO(3), KCl, RbCl, CsCl, TlCl, or Pb(NO(3))(2) with UO(3) and SeO(2) at 180 degrees C for 3 d. The structures of 1-5 contain similar [(UO(2))(SeO(3))(2)](2-) sheets constructed from pentagonal bipyramidal UO(7) units that are joined by bridging SeO(3)(2-) anions. In 1, the selenite oxo ligands that are not utilized within the layers coordinate the Ag(+) cations to create a three-dimensional network structure. In 2-5, half of the selenite ligands are monoprotonated to yield a layer composition of [(UO(2))(HSeO(3))(SeO(3))](1-), and coordination of the K(+), Rb(+), Cs(+), and Tl(+) cations occurs through long ionic contacts. The structure of 6 contains a uranyl selenite layered substructure that differs substantially from those in 1-5 because the selenite anions adopt both bridging and chelating binding modes to the uranyl centers. Furthermore, the Pb(2+) cations form strong covalent bonds with these anions creating a three-dimensional framework. These cations occur as distorted square pyramidal PbO(5) units with stereochemically active lone pairs of electrons. These polyhedra align along the c-axis to create a polar structure. Second-harmonic generation (SHG) measurements revealed a response of 5x alpha-quartz for 6. The diffuse reflectance spectrum of 6 shows optical transitions at 330 and 440 nm. The trailing off of the 440 nm transition to longer wavelengths is responsible for the orange coloration of 6.  相似文献

The kinetics of dissociation of the mono, bis, and tris complexes of Tiron (1,2-dihydroxy-3,5-benzenedisulfonate) have been studied in acidic aqueous solutions in 1.0 M HClO(4)/NaClO(4), as a function of [H(+)] and temperature. In general, the kinetics can be explained by two reactions, (H(2)O)Fe(L)(n)(-1) + H(2)L right arrow over left arrow (H(2)O)Fe(L(n)H) + H(+) (k(n), k(-n)) and (HO)Fe(L)(n)(-1) + H(2)L right arrow over left arrow (H(2)O)Fe(L(n)H) (k(n)', k(-n)'), a rapid equilibrium, (H(2)O)Fe(L(n)H) right arrow over left arrow (H(2)O)Fe(L)(n) + H(+) (K(cn)), and the formation constant (H(2)O)Fe(L)(n)(-1) + H(2)L right arrow over left arrow (H(2)O)Fe(L)(n) + 2H(+). For n = 1, the reaction was observed at 670 nm, and at [H(+)] of 0.05-0.5 M at temperatures of 2.0, 14.0, 25.0, and 36.7 degrees C. For n = 2, the analogous conditions are 562 nm, at [H(+)] of 1.5 x 10(-3) to 1.4 x 10(-2) M at temperatures of 2.0, 9.0, and 14.0 degrees C. For n = 3, the conditions are 482 nm, at pH 4.5-5.7 in 0.02 M acetate buffer at temperatures of 1.8, 8.0, and 14.5 degrees C. The rate or equilibrium constants (25 degrees C) with DeltaH or DeltaH degrees (kcal mol(-1)) and DeltaS or DeltaS degrees (cal mol(-1) K(-1)) in brackets are as follows: for n = 1, k(1) = 2.3 M(-1) s(-1) (8.9, -27.1), k(-1) = 1.18 M(-1) s(-1) (4.04, -44.8), K(c1) = 0.96 M (-9.99, -33.6), K(f1) = 2.01 M (-5.14, -15.85); for n = 2, k(-2)/K(c2) = 1.9 x 10(7) (19.9, 41.5) and k(-2)'/K(c2) = 1.85 x 10(3) (1.4, -38.8) and a lower limit of K(c2) > 0.015 M; for n = 3, k(3) = 7.7 x 10(3) (15.8, 12.3), k(-3) = 1.7 x 10(7) (16.2, 28.9), K(c3) = 7.4 x 10(-5) M (4.1, -5.1), and K(f3) = 3.35 x 10(-8) (3.7, -21.7). From the variations in rate constants and activation parameters, it is suggested that the Fe(L)(2) and Fe(L)(3) complexes undergo substitution by dissociative activation, promoted by the catecholate ligands.  相似文献

Four Th(IV) hydroxide/oxide clusters have been synthesized from aqueous solution. The structures of [Th(8)(μ(3)-O)(4)(μ(2)-OH)(8)(H(2)O)(15)(SeO(4))(8)·7.5H(2)O] (1), [Th(8)(μ(3)-O)(4)(μ(2)-OH)(8)(H(2)O)(17)(SeO(4))(8)·nH(2)O] (2), [Th(9)(μ(3)-O)(4)(μ(2)-OH)(8)(H(2)O)(21)(SeO(4))(10)] (3), and Th(9)(μ(3)-O)(4)(μ(2)-OH)(8)(H(2)O)(21)(SeO(4))(10)·nH(2)O (4) were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction. Each structure consists of an octanuclear core, [Th(8)O(4)(OH)(8)](16+), that is built from eight Th(IV) atoms (four Th in a plane and two up and two down) linked by four "inner" μ(3)-O and eight "outer" μ(2)-OH groups. Compounds 3 and 4 additionally contain mononuclear [Th(H(2)O)(5)(SeO(4))(4)](4-) units that link the octamers into an extended structure. The octanuclear units are invariably complexed by two selenate anions that sit in two cavities formed by four planar Th(IV) and four extra-planar Th(IV) atoms, thus making [Th(8)O(4)(OH)(8)(SeO(4))(2)](12+) a common building block in 1-4. However, changes in hydration as well selenate coordination give rise to structural differences that are observed in the extended structures of 1-4. The compounds were also characterized by Raman spectroscopy. Density functional theory calculations were performed to predict the geometries, vibrational frequencies, and relative energies of different structures. Details of the calculated structures are in good agreement with experimental results, and the calculated frequencies were used to assign the experimental Raman spectra. On the basis of an analysis of the DFT results, the compound Th(8)O(8)(OH)(4)(SeO(4))(6) was predicted to be a strong gas phase acid but is reduced to a weak acid in aqueous solution. Of the species studied computationally, the dication Th(8)O(6)(OH)(6)(SeO(6))(6)(2+) is predicted to be the most stable in aqueous solution at 298 K followed by the monocation Th(8)O(7)(OH)(5)(SeO(6))(6)(+).  相似文献

The removal of orthophosphates (10(-2) kg P m(-3)), condensed phosphates (10(-2) kg P m(-3)), and mixtures of both (5 x 10(-3) kg P m(-3) as orthophosphate and 5 x 10(-3) kg P m(-3) as metaphosphate) in aqueous solution is studied using alum and aluminum hydroxide. The effects of coagulant dose, pH, temperature, aging of aluminum hydroxide, and presence of different ions are investigated. On the basis of the experimental results, alum is much more efficient in phosphorus removal than aluminum hydroxide even if, in both cases, at the conditions studied, the active coagulant form is Al(OH)(3). The differences then could be due to the higher activity of the in situ formed hydroxide. Orthophosphates and metaphosphates seem to have similar behavior vs pH variation: maximum removal is achieved at pH values 5-6 in all cases. On the other hand, in the simultaneous presence of both P forms, orthophosphate and metaphosphate ions have different affinities for the surface sites of aluminum hydroxide, since for both alum and aluminum hydroxide, orthophosphates are preferentially removed compared to metaphosphates, due probably to orientation effects and the charge per P atom. The presence of sodium, potassium, magnesium, sulfate, chloride, and magnesium, at the concentrations studied and for a pH value of 6, does not influence P removal. Temperature variation, between 25 and 60 degrees C, does not affect alum efficiency but both P forms are increasingly removed with increasing temperature, probably due to polymer Al(OH)(3) breaking, producing new surfaces for adsorption. Aging decreases sorption capacity of Al(OH)(3), while crystallites of increasing size are formed. Finally adsorption of both P forms is best described by the Freundlich isotherm [[K(F)=(49.1-69.1) x 10(-3) (m(3)kg(-1))(1/N), 1/N: 0.14-0.19 for T=25-60 degrees C] and [ K(F)=(1.58-2.79) x 10(-3) (m(3)kg(-1))(1/N), 1/N: 2.17-2.47 for T=25-60 degrees C] for orthophosphate and metaphosphate, respectively.  相似文献

In the past 3 decades, research has proven the significance of competitive adsorption in the equilibrium of pollutants between solid and liquid phases. However, studies on the competitive adsorption of complex ions are very limited in spite of its important role in transporting pollutants in the natural environment. The objective of this study is to derive the thermodynamic parameters of the competitive adsorption between ferricyanide and ferrocyanide from the modified Langmuir isotherm and the triple-layer model (TLM) to determine the location of adsorption. The effects of pH, temperature, and ion concentration on competitive adsorption onto gamma-Al(2)O(3) were investigated. The results demonstrate that ferrocyanide is more competitive than ferricyanide. By comparing the derived K(app) with K(int), we inferred that the adsorption of ferricyanide and ferrocyanide onto gamma-Al(2)O(3) was achieved through outer-sphere complexation. The negative DeltaH degrees indicated that the adsorption was exothermic. The positive entropy (Delta S degrees ) was caused by the replacement and release of a greater number of smaller surface ions by adsorbed ferricyanide and ferrocyanide ions of larger size. A Zn/Al hydrotalcite-like compound (HTlc) was prepared by co-precipitation (at constant pH) method and was characterized by XRD, TG/DTA, FTIR, and BET surface area. The ability of Zn/Al oxide to remove F- from aqueous solution was investigated. All the adsorption experiments were carried out as a function of time, pH, concentration of adsorbate, adsorbent dose, temperature etc. It was found that the maximum adsorption takes place within 4 h at pH 6.0. The percentage of adsorption increases with increase in the adsorbent dose, but decreases with increase in the adsorbate concentration. From the temperature variation it was found that the percentage of adsorption decreases with increase in temperature, which shows that the adsorption process is exothermic in nature. The adsorption data fitted well into the linearly transformed Langmuir equation. Sulfate and phosphate were found to have profound effects on fluoride removal. Thermodynamic parameters such as DeltaG0, DeltaH0, and DeltaS0 were calculated. The negative value of DeltaH0 indicates that the adsorption process is exothermic. The apparent equilibrium constants (Ka) are also calculated and found to decrease with increase in temperature. With 0.01 M NaOH the adsorbed F- could be completely desorbed from Zn/Al oxide in 6 h.  相似文献

The fused salt electrochemical cell: Ag; AgCl, KC1; K(2)S(2),O(7),K(2)SO(4); O(2), Pt has been studied. Exact thermodynamic treatment of the chemical reaction, which occurs when current is drawn from the cell, is possible because K(2)S(2)O(7)(1) and AgCl(1) are immiscible, so that no junction potential occurs. Potentials observed at temperatures ranging from 700-800 degrees K for six different mixtures are reported. The Nernst equation is obeyed if it is assumed that the potassium disulphate-potassium sulphate system behaves ideally and that the silver chloride-potassium chloride system deviates slightly, negatively, from ideality. The thermodynamic functions, DeltaG degrees , DeltaH degrees and DeltaS degrees have been calculated from the corrected values of E degrees obtained. The free energy change follows the equation: DeltaG(700-800 degrees K) degrees = -71,680-29.50 T cal mole .  相似文献
