We show that a continuous additive positively homogeneous map from a closed not necessarily proper cone in a Banach space onto a Banach space is an open map precisely when it is surjective. This generalization of the usual Open Mapping Theorem for Banach spaces is then combined with Michael's Selection Theorem to yield the existence of a continuous bounded positively homogeneous right inverse of such a surjective map; a strong version of the usual Open Mapping Theorem is then a special case. As another consequence, an improved version of the analogue of Andô's Theorem for an ordered Banach space is obtained for a Banach space that is, more generally than in Andô's Theorem, a sum of possibly uncountably many closed not necessarily proper cones. Applications are given for a (pre)-ordered Banach space and for various spaces of continuous functions taking values in such a Banach space or, more generally, taking values in an arbitrary Banach space that is a finite sum of closed not necessarily proper cones.  相似文献

The main results of the paper include (a) a theorem containing estimates for the surjection modulus of a “partial composition” of set-valued mappings between metric spaces which contains as a particlar case well-known Milyutin’s theorem about additive perturbation of a mapping into a Banach space by a Lipschitz mapping; (b) a “double fixed point” theorem for a couple of mappings, one from X into Y and another from Y to X which implies a fairly general version of the set-valued contraction mapping principle and also a certain (different) version of the first theorem.  相似文献

Towards Lim     
The paper contains an elegant extension of the Nadler fixed point theorem for multivalued contractions (see Theorem 21). It is based on a new idea of the α-step mappings (see Definition 17) being more efficient than α-contractions. In the present paper this theorem is a tool in proving some fixed point theorems for “nonexpansive” mappings in the bead spaces (metric spaces that, roughly speaking, are modelled after convex sets in uniformly convex spaces). More precisely the mappings are nonexpansive on a set with respect to only one point - the centre of this set (see condition (4)). The results are pretty general. At first we assume that the value of the mapping under consideration at this central point looks “sharp” (see Definition 6). This idea leads to a group of theorems (based on Theorem 7). Their proofs are compact and the theorems, in particular, are natural extensions of the classical results for (usual) nonexpansive mappings. In the second part we apply the idea of Lim to investigate the regular sequences and here the proofs are based on our extension of Nadler's Theorem. In consequence we obtain some fixed point theorems that generalise the classical Lim Theorem for multivalued nonexpansive mappings (see e.g. Theorem 26).  相似文献

The closed model category of exterior spaces, that contains the proper category, is a useful tool for the study of non compact spaces and manifolds. The notion of exterior weak ℕ-S-equivalences is given by exterior maps which induce isomorphisms on the k-th ℕ-exterior homotopy groups for k ∈ S, where S is a set of non negative integers. The category of exterior spaces with a base ray localized by exterior weak ℕ-S-equivalences is called the category of exterior ℕ-S-types. The existence of closed model structures in the category of exterior spaces permits to establish equivalences between homotopy categories obtained by dividing by exterior homotopy relations, and categories of fractions (localized categories) given by the inversion of classes of week equivalences. The family of neighbourhoods ‘at infinity’ of an exterior space can be interpreted as a global prospace and under the condition of first countable at infinity we can consider a global tower instead of a prospace. The objective of this paper is to use localized categories to find the connection between S-types of exterior spaces and S-types of global towers of spaces. The main result of this paper establishes an equivalence between the category of S-types of rayed first countable exterior spaces and the category of S-types of global towers of pointed spaces. As a consequence of this result, categories of global towers of algebraic models localized up to weak equivalences can be used to give some algebraic models of S-types. After proving a generalized version of Garkavi's theorem, we give as applications proofs of existence results on best approximation by polynomials, and fractional linear and holomorphic operators between Banach spaces. We also obtain theorems on best approximation by some types of rational functions defined in open subsets of Banach spaces. By considering a natural non-normable distance we prove that every mapping bounded on the bounded subsets of a Banach space has best approximation by polynomials of degree less than or equal to a fixed natural number n.  相似文献

We investigate the validity of the Mean Ergodic Theorem in symmetric Banach function spaces E. The assertion of that theorem always holds when E is separable, whereas the situation is more delicate when E is non-separable. Fusion Banach frames satisfying property S have been studied. A sufficient condition for the existence of a fusion Banach frame satisfying property S in weakly compactly generated Banach spaces has been given. Also, a necessary and sufficient condition for a fusion Banach frame to satisfy property S has been given. Finally, fusion Banach frames satisfying property S have been characterized in terms of closedness of certain subspaces of the dual spaces in the weak*-topology.  相似文献

Abstract

Given a topological abelian group G, we study the class of strongly sequentially continuous functions on G. Strong sequential continuity is a property intermediate between sequential continuity and uniform sequential continuity, which appeared naturally in the study of smooth functions on Banach spaces. In this paper, we shall mainly concentrate on the gap between strong sequential continuity and uniform sequential continuity. It turns out that if G has some completeness property—for example, if it is completely metrizable—then all strongly sequentially continuous functions on G are uniformly sequentially continuous. On the other hand, we exhibit a large and natural class of groups for which the two notions differ. This class is defined by a property reminiscent of the classical Dirichlet theorem; it includes all dense sugroups of R generated by an increasing sequence of Dirichlet sets, and groups of the form (X, w), where X is a separable Banach space failing the Schur property. Finally, we show that the family of bounded, real-valued strongly sequentially continuous functions on G is a closed subalgebra of l∞(G).  相似文献

The Hahn–Banach Theorem for partially ordered totally convex modules [3] and a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of an extension of a morphism from a submodule C 0 of a partially ordered totally convex module C (with the ordered unit ball of the reals as codomain) to C, are proved. Moreover, the categories of partially ordered positively convex and superconvex modules are introduced and for both categories the Hahn–Banach Theorem is proved.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper deals with a new existence theory for periodic solutions to a broad class of evolution equations. We first establish new fixed point theorems for affine maps in locally convex spaces and ordered Banach spaces. Our new fixed point results extend, encompass and complement a number of well-known theorems in the literature, including the famous Chow and Hale fixed point theorem. With these obtained fixed point results, we investigate the existence of periodic solutions for some class of nonhomogeneous linear systems in Banach spaces with lack of compactness. This article is concerned with some properties of Stepanov-like almost automorphic (S p -a.a.) functions. We establish a composition theorem about S p -a.a. functions, and with its help, study the existence and uniqueness of almost automorphic solutions for semilinear evolution equations in Banach spaces. The Bishop-Phelps Theorem asserts that the set of functionals which attain the maximum value on a closed bounded convex subsetS of a real Banach spaceX is norm dense inX *. We present a form of the Mean Value Theorem (MVT) for a continuous function f between metric spaces, connecting it with the possibility to choose the relation of f in a homeomorphic way. We also compare our formulation of the MVT with the classic one when the metric spaces are open subsets of Banach spaces. As a consequence, we derive a version of the Mean Value Propriety for measure spaces that also possesses a compatible metric structure.  相似文献

There exists a real hereditarily indecomposable Banach space X=X(C) (respectively X=X(H)) such that the algebra L(X)/S(X) is isomorphic to C (respectively to the quaternionic division algebra H).Up to isomorphism, X(C) has exactly two complex structures, which are conjugate, totally incomparable, and both hereditarily indecomposable. So there exist two Banach spaces which are isometric as real spaces but totally incomparable as complex spaces. This extends results of J. Bourgain and S. Szarek [J. Bourgain, Real isomorphic complex Banach spaces need not be complex isomorphic, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 96 (2) (1986) 221-226; S. Szarek, A superreflexive Banach space which does not admit complex structure, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 97 (3) (1986) 437-444], and proves that a theorem of G. Godefroy and N.J. Kalton [G. Godefroy, N.J. Kalton, Lipschitz-free Banach spaces, Studia Math. 159 (1) (2003) 121-141] about isometric embeddings of separable real Banach spaces does not extend to the complex case.The quaternionic example X(H), on the other hand, has unique complex structure up to isomorphism; other examples with a unique complex structure are produced, including a space with an unconditional basis and non-isomorphic to l2. In this note we establish an embedding theorem (Theorem 2.4) for local Hardy spaces in the sense of GOLDBERG [G]. This result is a non-homogeneous version of the theorem of BAERNSTEIN and SAWYER (Theorem BS). Also applying this theorem we establish embedding theorem and Fourier embedding theorem (Theorem 4.2, Theorem 4.3 and Corollary 4.4) for local Hardy spaces.  相似文献

Abstract. We study a local version of the order property in several frameworks, with an emphasis on frameworks where the compactness theorem fails: (1) Inside a fixed model, (2) for classes of models where the compactness theorem fails and (3) for the first order case. Appropriate localizations of the order property, the independence property, and the strict order property are introduced. We are able to generalize some of the results that were known in the case of local stability for the first order theories, and for stability for nonelementary classes (existence of indiscernibles, existence of averages, stability spectrum, equivalence between order and instability). In the first order case, we also prove the local version of Shelah's Trichotomy Theorem. Finally, as an application, we give a new characterization of stable types when the ambient first order theory is simple. Received: 18 June 1998  相似文献

We prove the stability of the index of a Fredholm complex of Banach spaces under those compact perturbations which are uniform limits of finite-rank operators (Theorem 3.3).
