Uniform convergence of sine transforms of general monotone functions

We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the uniform convergence of sine integrals where g satisfies general monotonicity conditions. In contrast with the previous results on this topic, here we do not assume .     

Best approximation properties in spaces of measurable functions

We research proximinality of μ‐sequentially compact sets and μ‐compact sets in measurable function spaces. Next we show a correspondence between the Kadec–Klee property for convergence in measure and μ‐compactness of the sets in Banach function spaces. Also the property S is investigated in Fréchet spaces and employed to provide the Kadec–Klee property for local convergence in measure. We discuss complete criteria for continuity of metric projection in Fréchet spaces with respect to the Hausdorff distance. Finally, we present the necessary and sufficient condition for continuous metric selection onto a one‐dimensional subspace in sequence Lorentz spaces .     

Maximal and fractional integral operators on generalized Morrey spaces over metric measure spaces

We establish the boundedness and weak boundedness of the maximal operator and generalized fractional integral operators on generalized Morrey spaces over metric measure spaces without the assumption of the growth condition on μ. The results are generalization and improvement of some known results. We also give the vector‐valued boundedness. Moreover we prove the independence of the choice of the parameter in the definition of generalized Morrey spaces by using the geometrically doubling condition in the sense of Hytönen.     

Reduction theorems for Sobolev embeddings into the spaces of Hölder,Morrey and Campanato type

Let X be a rearrangement‐invariant Banach function space on Q where Q is a cube in and let be the Sobolev space of real‐valued weakly differentiable functions f satisfying . We establish a reduction theorem for an embedding of the Sobolev space into spaces of Campanato, Morrey and Hölder type. As a result we obtain a new characterization of such embeddings in terms of boundedness of a certain one‐dimensional integral operator on representation spaces.     

On the existence of RUC systems in rearrangement invariant spaces

We characterize rearrangement invariant spaces X on [0, 1] with the property that each orthonormal system in X which is uniformly bounded in some Marcinkiewicz space , for equivalent to , , is a system of Random Unconditional Convergence (RUC system).     

Hardy type inequalities with kernels: The current status and some new results

We consider the general Hardy type operator where is a positive and measurable kernel. To characterize the weights u and v so that is still an open problem for any parameters p and q . However, for special cases the solution is known for some parameters p and q . In this paper the current status of this problem is described and discussed mainly for the case In particular, some new scales of characterizations in classical situations are described, some new proofs and results are given and open questions are raised.     

Embeddings of weighted Morrey spaces

We consider embedding theorems within the scale of weighted Morrey spaces , where the weight w belongs to the Muckenhoupt class and . This includes, in particular, the classical setting of weighted Lebesgue spaces. We study some typical examples for the weight like , but also deal with quite general assumptions.     

Limit cases of reiteration theorems

We consider real interpolation methods defined by means of slowly varying functions and rearrangement invariant spaces, for which we present a collection of reiteration theorems for interpolation and extrapolation spaces. As an application we obtain interpolation formulas for Lorentz‐Karamata type spaces, for Zygmund spaces , and for the grand and small Lebesgue spaces.     

Note on Nikodym maximal in the variable Lebesgue spaces

In this paper we consider the k‐plane Nikodym maximal estimates in the variable Lebesgue spaces . We first formulate the problem about the boundedness of the k‐plane Nikodym maximal and show that the maximal estimate in is equivalent to that in for . So, the optimal Nikodym maximal estimate in follows from Cordoba's estimate.     

On the regularity of binomial edge ideals

We study the regularity of binomial edge ideals. For a closed graph G we show that the regularity of the binomial edge ideal coincides with the regularity of and can be expressed in terms of the combinatorial data of G. In addition, we give positive answers to Matsuda‐Murai conjecture 8 for some classes of graphs.     

Characterisation of zero trace functions in variable exponent Sobolev spaces

It is well known that if u belongs to the Sobolev space , where Ω is an open subset of and , then if belongs to weak , where dist . Results of this type are given here for Sobolev spaces with a variable exponent p , under the conditions that Ω is bounded and satisfies a mild regularity condition, and p is a bounded, log‐Hölder continuous function that is bounded away from 1. The outcome includes theorems that are new even when p is constant. In particular it is shown that if and only if and .     

Arithmetic toric varieties

We study toric varieties over a field k that split in a Galois extension using Galois cohomology with coefficients in the toric automorphism group. Part of this Galois cohomology fits into an exact sequence induced by the presentation of the class group of the toric variety. This perspective helps to compute the Galois cohomology, particularly for cyclic Galois groups. We use Galois cohomology to classify k‐forms of projective spaces when is cyclic, and we also study k‐forms of surfaces.     

On the extremal Betti numbers of the binomial edge ideal of closed graphs

We study the equality of the extremal Betti numbers of the binomial edge ideal and those of its initial ideal for a closed graph G. We prove that in some cases there is a unique extremal Betti number for and as a consequence there is a unique extremal Betti number for and these extremal Betti numbers are equal.     

Some kind of Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás property

In this paper we introduce two Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás type properties for bounded linear operators between two Banach spaces X and Y : property 1 and property 2. These properties are motivated by a Kim–Lee result which states, under our notation, that a Banach space X is uniformly convex if and only if the pair satisfies property 2. Positive results of pairs of Banach spaces satisfying property 1 are given and concrete pairs of Banach spaces failing both properties are exhibited. A complete characterization of property 1 for the pairs is also provided.     

Paley–Littlewood decomposition for sectorial operators and interpolation spaces

We prove Paley–Littlewood decompositions for the scales of fractional powers of 0‐sectorial operators A on a Banach space which correspond to Triebel–Lizorkin spaces and the scale of Besov spaces if A is the classical Laplace operator on We use the ‐calculus, spectral multiplier theorems and generalized square functions on Banach spaces and apply our results to Laplace‐type operators on manifolds and graphs, Schrödinger operators and Hermite expansion. We also give variants of these results for bisectorial operators and for generators of groups with a bounded ‐calculus on strips.     

A note about Volterra operators on weighted Banach spaces of entire functions

We characterize boundedness, compactness and weak compactness of Volterra operators acting between different weighted Banach spaces of entire functions with sup‐norms in terms of the symbol g; thus we complement recent work by Bassallote, Contreras, Hernández‐Mancera, Martín and Paul 3 for spaces of holomorphic functions on the disc and by Constantin and Peláez 16 for reflexive weighted Fock spaces.     

A Trudinger–Moser inequality in a weighted Sobolev space and applications

We establish a Trudinger–Moser type inequality in a weighted Sobolev space. The inequality is applied in the study of the elliptic equation where , f has exponential critical growth and h belongs to the dual of an appropriate function space. We prove that the problem has at least two weak solutions provided is small.     

Boundedness and compactness of Hardy operators on Lorentz‐type spaces

Given non‐negative measurable functions on we study the high dimensional Hardy operator between Orlicz–Lorentz spaces , where f is a measurable function of and is the ball of radius t in . We give sufficient conditions of boundedness of and . We investigate also boundedness and compactness of between weighted and classical Lorentz spaces. The function spaces considered here do not need to be Banach spaces. Specifying the weights and the Orlicz functions we recover the existing results as well as we obtain new results in the new and old settings.     

Amenability of compact hypergroup algebras

We show that for a compact hypergroup K, the hypergroup algebra is amenable as a Banach algebra if the set of hyperdimensions of irreducible representations of K is bounded above. Conversely if is amenable, the set of ratios of the hyperdimension to the dimension of irreducible representations of K is bounded above. These are equivalent for compact commutative hypergroups.     

Existence theory for semilinear evolution inclusions involving measures

We provide existence results for semilinear differential inclusions involving measures: (0.1) where A is the infinitesimal generator of a C₀‐semigroup of contractions on a separable Banach space X and is a right‐continuous non‐decreasing function. The existence of mild solutions, as well as the compactness of the solution set are obtained via Kakutani–Ky Fan's fixed point theorem in the space of regulated functions endowed with weak, respectively strong topologies. Some examples of special cases covered by our existence results have been included.
