Let X and Y be compact Hausdorff spaces, and E and F be locally solid Riesz spaces. If π:C(X,E)→C(Y,F) is a 1-biseparating Riesz isomorphism then X and Y are homeomorphic, and E and F are Riesz isomorphic. This generalizes the main results of [Z. Ercan, S. Önal, Banach-Stone theorem for Banach lattice valued continuous functions, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 135 (9) (2007) 2827-2829] and [X. Miao, C. Xinhe, H. Jiling, Banach-Stone theorems and Riesz algebras, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 313 (1) (2006) 177-183], and answers a conjecture in [Z. Ercan, S. LetC(X,Y) be the space of continuous functions from a metric space (X,d) to a metric space (Y, e).C(X, Y) can be thought as subset of the hyperspaceCL(X×Y) of closed and nonempty subsets ofX×Y by identifying each element ofC(X,Y) with its graph. We considerC(X,Y) with the topology inherited from the Wijsman topology induced onCL(X×Y) by the box metric ofd ande. We study the relationships between the Wijsman topology and the compact-open topology onC(X,Y) and also conditions under which the Wijsman topology coincide with the Fell topology. Sufficient conditions under which the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology are given (IfY is totally bounded, then for every metric spaceX the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology and the same is true forX locally connected andY rim-totally bounded). We prove that a metric spaceX is boundedly compact iff the Wijsman topology onC(X, ℝ) is weaker than the compact-open topology. We show that ifX is a σ-compact complete metric space andY a compact metric space, then the Wijsman topology onC(X,Y) is Polish.  相似文献

We determine the smooth points of certain spaces of bounded operatorsL(X,Y), including the cases whereX andY arel p -orc 0-direct sums of finite dimensional Banach spaces or subspaces of the latter enjoying the metric compact approximation property. We also remark that the operators not attaining their norm are nowhere dense inL(X,Y) wheneverK(X,Y) is anM-ideal inL(X,Y).  相似文献

Theω′-topology on the spaceL(X, Y) of bounded linear operators from the Banach spaceX into the Banach spaceY is discussed in [10]. Let ℒw' (X, Y) denote the space of allT∈L(X, Y) for which there exists a sequence of compact linear operators (T n)⊂K(X, Y) such thatT=ω′−limnTn and let . We show that is a Banach ideal of operators and that the continuous dual spaceK(X, Y)* is complemented in . This results in necessary and sufficient conditions forK(X, Y) to be reflexive, whereby the spacesX andY need not satisfy the approximation property. Similar results follow whenX andY are locally convex spaces. Financial support from the Potchefstroom University and Maseno University is greatly acknowledged. LetX be any compact convex subset of a locally convex Hausdorff space andE be a complex Banach space. We denote byA(X, E) the space of all continuous and affineE-valued functions defined onX. In this paper we prove thatX is a Choquet simplex if and only if the dual ofA(X, E) is isometrically isomorphic by a selection map toM m (X, E*), the space ofE*-valued,w*-regular boundary measures onX. This extends and strengthens a result of G. M. Ustinov. To do this we show that for any compact convex setX, each element of the dual ofA(X, E) can be represented by a measure inM m (X, E*) with the same norm, and this representation is unique if and only ifX is a Choquet simplex. We also prove that ifX is metrizable andE is separable then there exists a selection map from the unit ball of the dual ofA(X, E) into the unit ball ofM m (X, E*) which is weak* to weak*-Borel measurable. This work will constitute a portion of the author's Ph.D. Thesis at the University of Illinois.  相似文献

In this note we consider the property of being constrained in the bidual, for the space of Bochner integrable functions. For a Banach spaceX having the Radon-Nikodym property and constrained in its bidual and forY ⊂ X, under a natural assumption onY, we show thatL 1 (μ, X/Y) is constrained in its bidual andL 1 (μ, Y) is a proximinal subspace ofL 1(μ, X). As an application of these results, we show that, ifL 1(μ, X) admits generalized centers for finite sets and ifY ⊂ X is reflexive, thenL 1 μ, X/Y) also admits generalized centers for finite sets.  相似文献

The space of continuous maps from a topological spaceX to topological spaceY is denoted byC(X,Y) with the compact-open topology. In this paper we prove thatC(X,Y) is an absolute retract ifX is a locally compact separable metric space andY a convex set in a Banach space. From the above fact we know thatC(X,Y) is homomorphic to Hilbert spacel 2 ifX is a locally compact separable metric space andY a separable Banach space; in particular,C(R n,Rm) is homomorphic to Hilbert spacel 2. LetX andY beT 1 topological spaces andG(X, Y) the space of all functions with closed graph. Conditions under which the Fell topology and the weak Fell topology coincide onG(X,Y) are given. Relations between the convergence in the Fell topologyτF, Kuratowski and continuous convergence are studied too. Characterizations of a topological spaceX by separation axioms of (G(X, R), τF) and topological properties of (G(X, R), τF) are investigated.  相似文献

We study the extremal structure of the dual unit balls of various operator spaces. Mainly, we show that the classes of [w*-] strongly exposed, [w*-] exposed, and denting points in the dual unit balls of spaces of compact operators between Banach spacesX andY are completely — and in a canonical way — determined by the corresponding classes of points in the unit balls of the (bi-)duals of the factor spacesX andY. Applications to the duality of operator spaces and differentiability properties of the norm in operator spaces are given.  相似文献

We extend the notion of a parabolic vector bundle on a smooth curve to define generalized parabolic sheaves (GPS) on any integral projective curve X. We construct the moduli spacesM(X) of GPS of certain type onX. IfX is obtained by blowing up finitely many nodes inY then we show that there is a surjective birational morphism from M(X) to M (Y). In particular, we get partial desingularisations of the moduli of torsion-free sheaves on a nodal curveY.  相似文献

Abstract

We prove that if X and Y are Banach spaces such that X* has the weak Radon-Nikodym property (WRNP), Y has the Radon-Nikodym property (RNP) and Y is complemented in its bidual, then the space N(X,Y) of all nuclear operators from X to Y has the WRNP. If moreover X* has the RNP, then N(X,Y) has the RNP.  相似文献

A classC of pointed spaces is called a cellular class if it is closed under weak equivalences, arbitrary wedges and pointed homotopy pushouts. The smallest cellular class containingX is denoted byC(X), and a partial order relation ≪ is defined by:XY ifY εC(X). In this text we investigate the sub partial order sets generated respectively by simply connected finite CW-complexes and by rational spaces. For rational spaces we prove a unique decomposition theorem, a density theorem and the existence of infinitely many non-comparable elements. We then prove the density theorem for a generic class of finite CW-complexes.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with several approximation problems in the weighted Hardy spacesH p(Ω) of analytic functions in the open unit disc D of the complex plane ℂ. We prove that ifX is a relatively closed subset of D, the class of uniform limits onX of functions inH p(Ω) coincides, moduloH p(Ω), with the space of uniformly continuous functions on a certain hull ofX which are holomorphic on its interior. We also solve the simultaneous approximation problems of describing Farrell and Mergelyan sets forH p(Ω), giving geometric characterizations for them. By replacing approximating polynomials by polynomial multipliers of outer functions, our results lead to characterizations of the same sets with respect to cyclic vectors in the classical Hardy spacesH p(D), 1 ⪯p < ∞. A Schauder Decomposition inXλ when Y has a Schauder Decomposition is presented. This decomposition is then used to investigate the Approximation Property. For instance, it is shown that if X has the Approximation Property and Y has a basis thenXλ has the Approximation Property. We also use this to obtain results concerning operators on vector valued continuous function spaces. Entrata in Redazione il 31 marzo 1999  相似文献

Abstract

Suppose X and Y are FK spaces in which ? the span of the coordinate vectors (en) is dense. Let L(X,Y) denote the space of all matrices of the form Ei(T(ej)) as T ranges over all continuous linear operators from X into Y; here ei represents the ith coordinate vector and Ei represents the ith coordinate functional. Let M(L(X, Y)) denote the space of all matrices B such that (B(i,j)A(i,j)) is in L(X,Y) whenever A is in L(X,Y). In this paper we shall show how the summability properties of X and Y determine the extent of M(L(X,Y)) and conversely how the extent of M(L(X,Y)) determines the summability properties of both X and Y.  相似文献

We study the relation of to the subspaces and quotients of Banach spaces of continuous vector-valued functions , where K is an arbitrary dispersed compact set. More precisely, we prove that every infinite dimensional closed subspace of totally incomparable to X contains a copy of complemented in . This is a natural continuation of results of Cembranos-Freniche and Lotz-Peck-Porta. We also improve our result when K is homeomorphic to an interval of ordinals. Next we show that complemented subspaces (resp., quotients) of which contain no copy of are isomorphic to complemented subspaces (resp., quotients) of some finite sum of X. As a consequence, we prove that every infinite dimensional quotient of which is quotient incomparable to X, contains a complemented copy of . Finally we present some more geometric properties of spaces. Received 8 November 2000; in revised form 7 December 2001  相似文献

Summary LetX, Y be two discrete random variables with finite support andXY. Suppose that the conditional distribution ofY givenX can be factorized in a certain way. This paper provides a method of deriving the unique form of the marginal distribution ofX (and hence the joint distribution of (X, Y)) when partial independence only is assumed forY andX−Y.  相似文献

We give a new proof of a recent characterization by Diaz and Mayoral of compactness in the Lebesgue-Bochner spaces LXp, where X is a Banach space and 1≤ p<∞, and extend the result to vector-valued Banach function spaces EX, where E is a Banach function space with order continuous norm. LetE be a real (or complex) Banach space,Y a compact Hausdorff space, andC(Y) the space of real (or complex) valued continuous functions onY. IfT is an extreme point in the unit ball of bounded linear operators fromE intoC(Y), then it is shown thatT * maps (the natural imbedding inC(Y) * of)Y into the weak *-closure of extS(E *), provided thatY is extremally disconnected, orE=C(X), whereX is a dispersed compact Hausdorff space.  相似文献
